Thise who try to forget their history are in danger of repeating it. Glad to see that does not happen in the shed! Hope you don't get any hasstle from YT. Great progress, looking amazing.
HI Steve, great progress on all the deck detail. I really enjoy watching your precision photoetch work. I have one comment on the cableholders/capstans: In my very first mail to you I shared the verbal description of their colours from the book by the German modeller who visited the wreck in 2001: The bodies of the cableholders/capstans on Bismarck were white with alternating red (port) or green (starboard) vertical stripes. The raised vertical bars separating the colours were left in natural bronze. The brake wheel at the top was black. Just as a reminder. I understand, however, that sometimes you have to settle for one specific reference and simply go with it. BTW, I think your execution of the overpainted national insignia looks great. Looking forward to next Friday.
Beautiful, and very convincing work! Everything came out great, and the markings look awesome! I am learning a great deal watching your PE work. Eagerly awaiting the next update!
Coming together very nicely. I do have a couple of questions; the cable holders I'm curious as to why the port one is red and white and the starboard one is black and white? The second question why is there a thin black line running along the base of the bulkheads and everything else attached to the deck? Looking forward to the next installment.
The starboard cable holder is green and white - the video does funny things sometimes to colours. I think the black line has something to do with protecting the bulkhead paint from holystoning the deck but I’m not absolutely sure. Someone will know definitely I guess.
@@TheModelShed Maybe there are extra's? I'm waiting to see the railings ? around the deck go on, are they all PE, or do you need to apply rope, string to them?
Excellent work Steve. I’ve read differing thoughts on the paint on the top of the turrets. Some say just the flat surfaces were painted dark as you’ve done. Others say all flat and slanted areas were painted dark as would be seen from the air. I suppose we’ll never really know which paint scheme was used.
The turret colours are a nightmare. The truth is that they were different colours at different times. The angled plates were indeed dark at one stage but by the time the ship was in grimstadfjord they were clearly only dark on the top plate with C in light grey. The ship was being painted constantly after commissioning- That’s why you have to select the date you’re trying to represent and stick to it.

Hope so to Stephen. 🤞
Have been waiting since part one for how you were going to doing deck markings.
Well-done. The paint bled up the planking on mine.
I'm happy with it Jerry went as well as I'd hoped
Looks fantastic 👍🏻
Looking great
Thank you 👍

Thank you Klaus - I managed the green and red but stopped short of the bronze bars.
Those toned down swastikas are very impressive indeed.
👍

Thanks for clearing that up.@@TheModelShed
Slowly but surely, the kit comes together. Nice work, as always.
Very slowly Mike 😂
Sooo much patience ! It looks stunning.
Thank you - patience is the key on these big scale ships
Closing in on completion! Very nicely done.
Thanks Glen I hope so
Nice work Steve, lots and lots of detail, must be satisfying to see the PE going onto the ship.
It is John but I’m a bit worried that there’s still so much left to go and I’m running out of instructions !
