2k hours of my life were sunk into this game, Long War makes this game the best time sink! Recently got a Vita, and been having a blast playing XCOM on my rides to University. Definently one of my most favourite games of all time.
I am about to dive in X-Com EU and i am a lot about the modding community, but i will give it a raw go first i think. I like time sinks, i like tactics, somehow i tried the pirate versions of the game and it didn't clicked. Going to try again now.
Great review you manged to convince me to give this game a shot once I see it go on sale again! I've also been skimming through your channel after I saw your Dragon Age 2 review which was amazing and hope to see Inquisition review at some point.
To explain it as best I can. The day changes too much, the year changes to little. When filing stuff, the month and the year are the most important things. Think of it like a library system, where you have an alphabetical system. Only this time there are 12 letters. You put the year last, because grouping by year is a thing, and you need to be able to see it easily. The year is important but it also barely ever changes. So then month is first, so you can easily segment the year into 12 groups. Then you put the day, so you can fine tune your month documents order. Basically, when you're looking at files, the first thing you do, is look at the month. If it's not the number you're looking for, you can immediately stop looking at it. It let's you eliminate 11 of the 12 options right away. Then you can move on to the date, and odds are the year will probably be what you expect it to be.
I find the complete opposite to be true. i would suspect that's just down to comfort of system. there's no logical reason it should be that way as it realistically does not make filing any harder. Filing is a process that you can refine which will allways matter more than whether a number is first or second.l i also just naturally scan the 2nd part of the date for month. which doesn't take up any extra time.
Enemy Unknown introduced the LARGEST GOLDMINE game genre for ALL potential franchises in the history of gaming! Then they killed X-Com with Chimera Squad so bad, they don't even deserve to come back! EVER! Now it's time for other franchises to take up the Enemy Unknown and Bureau Declassified formulas to make games! Aliens: Dark Descent is a promising upcoming candidate!
2:44 and so in response to these issues, they made the graphics in the sequel as high end as currently possible making it near impossible to run on most things.
I find the making of this game hilarious because this isn't what the lead dev wanted to make according to the interviews and XCOM:Chimera Squad and Midnight Suns.
Excellent game. Missed two 99% shots in a row. Never touched it again. Great video. I`m seeing a lot of improvement here, especially on the comedic timing.
That's X-Com Baby! But you guys are spoiled, in original X-Com that shot would miss the alien, fly halfway across the map, through two windows, and headshot your Colonel. There were reasons sometimes all you handed a rookie were a pistol and a stun rod...😅
I think you can start with Enemy Within, as it has everything in the base game with all the expansion improvements. You won't miss anything really by skipping Enemy Unknown.
Did exalt exist as a faction in older games? Makes me wonder if one of the narrative designers didn’t read the OG “Three Body Problem” as they’re basically the ETO.
I played it once, beated it losing only 1 guy, tried the hardest difficulty in ironman, and lost the save due to corruption :') at the end, I still would rather play the original over this one

try Long War Rebalanced, it improves many things in Long War.
Damn, I was remembering Deus Ex while listening to the music too. That explains it.
Just watched the XCOM2 you made and both of these are absolutely lovley
Funny that you mentioned Gears of War because they did make a Gears of War style Xcom game called Gears Tactics
I'll add it to my list.

Absolute stellar review, though im surprised that you havent got that many views.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. I'll get there one day maybe with the views lol.
just beat a game on long war rebalance on easy and that shit was harder than college
I love this game. The mood and gameplay is just a killer mix. Such a gem ❤
I really don't know why you're not on 1000 likes/video by now tbh
15:50 and it’s cool that the base you built turns into a battle map
And now the game plays great on modern phones.
Only complaint is that I haven’t figured out how to aim explosives in the air

Great review. And you only have 1,140 subs. Crazy.
I wish there was warhammer 40k game like Xcom. I know theres one already but its just not as polished as xcom 1. That world is so interesting

@@nikaszekeval6850 You were lucky, all my rookies got was a glass bottle. Tell that to kids today and they wouldn't believe you.

would be great if they ported this onto the switch too :(

Yeah, it's not for everyone but glad you found the vid entertaining. :)
Long war. Long war makes it so good. There, saved you 20 min.
Though at times the devs seem just straight up sadistic.
Long war rebalanced*

Think it's the elite solder pack DLC that has the extra bit of customization.

2:21 what’s this video?
Firaxis doing the Harlem Shake
I have spent a very unhealthy amount of hours playing this game
HUH HAH
absolutely nothing!
say it again
Even so, it still doesn't beat the OG 94 original. 🤪
Do you live in South Africa?
Yes
I played it once, beated it losing only 1 guy, tried the hardest difficulty in ironman, and lost the save due to corruption :') at the end, I still would rather play the original over this one
Its not, lol. Its literally a worse version of the original, which is saying something.
