@@TheAngryCamper the surround comes black so you still have to get it painted. It’s not super cheap but if you really want that look it’s worth it. If it’s not a big deal to you to have the stock one, then it’s not a big deal.
@@OXFOOT Sparx parts actually has the grill and hood bulge factory painted for not a bad price, the garnish for the sensor is stupid expensive, making the whole project too expansive, but, man, I want a color matched grill ha ha ha ha
I just found this video. I had some issues with my truck for the past 10 months, but we think we got it figured out. (Crank sensor ended up being the culprit) This is the eventual look I want for my own Tundra. Thanks for the breakdown and discussion on the parts! Now that the issues have been resolved, i can start piecing together my own build once again, and this video gave me some new ideas for my planned build.
And yes, i would most definitely like to see a breakdown of the sealing of the topper. help me with my own.

It was quite a learning process so I’ll try to share as much knowledge as I can from what I’ve learned.

Yeah there just didn’t seem to be a ton of info on getting it pretty much perfectly sealed. A lot of “as sealed as I felt like it” content but I think I’ve gotten it pretty dang closed to 0 leaks or dust. Hopefully my trial and error can help the community.

It’s been great, realistically that complaint I had about mine was very minimal and is just aesthetic. Really love the preparation space it provides.

You have done a great job on your truck! I'm considering replacing my 2013 Limited TRD Off Road with a 2020 TRD Pro. Just need to find the right one and apply some of these ideas to it. Looking forward to seeing further updates!
What’s the reasoning for wanting to go newer? Just like the facelift of the 2.5 Gen? Miles? I think those 2013 ones are really cool too.
@@OXFOOT Whenever I look for "add-ons", most are for newer trucks, usually starting at 2014 and up. So, there's that. I have 121k on it now, and as you know, that's really nothing for a Toyota. And my wife said, If I'm going to get a new"er" truck to do it before I retire! haha I love my truck, it's just something for me to consider.

Yeah I was too lazy to make a video on it too. Hoping to be able to make a video with photos and whatever video I did take. It was also a process of like finding a randomly leak and then sealing it so who knows what video I have.

Yeah I’ll have a separate video for the rack/lighting/wiring, another for the topper, another for the lift and then the tires from this video.
1 - How did you black out your bumpers? Bumper Shellz or paint?
2 - Does the roof rack have C channel slot openings to drop in brackets?
Nice rig man but you should of got a smartcap pricey but well worth it they're very modular and you can do so much stuff with it inside, I recently put it on my 2019 CM and love it. I have family of five but I do ground tent I need a space and smartcap came to the rescue.
I may eventually do something like that. I always liked the aesthetic of the fiberglass one I have now but I eventually want to put kayaks up there with my tent and a 270 awning and not have to worry so maybe a smart cap or something similar is in the cards down the road.
Want to give the fiberglass a fair shot first though.
Get RCI sliders or white knuckle
I use the desert does it seat lift and crossbar in my 1st gen Sequoia and it makes a big difference for sure, but I have a 2.5lbs extinguisher mounted on it right now as it was the best place for it, but, where did you get the rest of the mount in between that bar and the serpa mount for your bluetooth hole puncher? I might add that in on my rig.
Not sure which company did you wrong but both RCI and White Knuckle offroad offer sliders for the double cab. I'm stuck between which one to get for my crewmax but sliders are last mod on my last at the moment. Both make good quality sliders that and roughly the same price and you can add options like a full tread plate on top.

Sorry if you addressed this question in a previous video, I'm wondering what made you go to the Tundra from the 4Runner? I'm currently in a 2016 4unner Trd Pro I've had about a year having come from 3 previous Tundras and a Gx470. I love the 4Runner a lot but miss the V8 and am currently considering a 2007 Tundra that seemed very well maintained with a new topper and Decked system. Would probably free up about $15K for me. We'll see. Really liking the build and always liked the quicksand color with no chrome.
Well mostly for hauling stuff when we move here soon. I want to be able to tow a bigger trailer (more on that later) if I need to. The mpgs are roughly the same and realistically the only downside has been the bed bounce which has gotten better. Topper and decked would be really cool, if you get one and need to seal it let me know and I can send you a quick video showing you what I sealed.
I sometimes feel the same way but opposite, I miss having an SUV sometimes but maybe it’s the “grass is always greener” situation. If I buy an SUV to go along with this though it’ll probably be like a 3rd gen or a GX.

It’s the new uptop overland Zulu. The Zulu is the upgraded one, they have one that looks just like it with less frills called the uptop Kilo.
I would really like to know more about the bed bounce. I have a 2017 tundra completely stock. It only had very mild bed bounce when it was brand new and only when it was very cold. Now it’s almost out of control and I can’t hardly stand to drive it on concrete roads. Any advice you have would be very much appreciated.
Yeah it’s really just those stupid concrete roads. Mine has gotten better with this dirtking lift but it’s still noticeable. I’m trying to ascertain what the solution is from forums but there’s a ton of info to sus through.
If you find anything out, I sure would appreciate knowing. I’ve taken my truck to two different Toyota dealerships pay their diagnostic fee and they say there’s nothing wrong with the truck. I’ve also taken it to two off-road shops. They don’t have any solid solutions.
It’s been a while, but I did comb through the forums a variety of different opinions, but nothing concrete.
I’ve tried just about everything including the road active suspension system.
Deaver mini pack ? Is that what you added to your leaf springs?
Would a sumo springs fix the bouncing on the back?
I believe that’s what it was. I wish I was a little more well versed in the leafs. I just went with the recommendation of R4T, but I believe it was Deaver.
Also maybe? I’ll have to research more into that. Looking into the sumo springs now.

What are your thoughts on Toyota taking out the transmission cooler starting in 2019? Is it worth installing even though I will never be towing anything in my 2019. My buddy just had one installed on his 2020 but he tows trailers all day. heard such mixed reviews on the topic so I just wanted to ask what y’all thought?
Where can I find that R4T under hood mount? Can’t find it on their site and really looking for a clean powerswitch mount.
I’m digging the rack system with the 4 bangers. Is the uptop front shield universal for the 4 bangers or did uptop make specific front fairing for them? I also noticed you have 7 lights, I think they sell them in pairs so did you just have to bite the bullet to get the 7th?
These are the big bangers, the 4 bangers actually would probably look more proportioned there if I was leaving the rack like this, but I’m going to be adding some more stuff up top here soon.
That cut out is the standard cutout for the Zulu rack so you could add really any light in there and it would fit.
The big bangers I think are sold as individual, the 4 bangers are sold in pairs. That being said, I reached out to them and asked if I could just buy 3 for my bumper coming up as I’m doing 5 (my fogs included) on the front bumper. I think the 4bangers would look better up on the rack tbh. The big bangers are just huge! If I was doing it again I’d space them out more and do 5.

Yes please would like a video on sealing the bed, I own a 21 tundra Crewmax and sealed where the tailgate meets the bed but wanted to see your solutions for the rest of the bed so I can go ahead and do it too. Thank you

Hands down without question the best color for a vehicle! And I love the topper idea, had I not downsized my truck I would have a similar build
I love this color. Took me so long to find one in this shade. I do really like the new color on the 2025s that are kind of this but a bit darker. The sand colors are great for not showing dirt.

Quick question, I’m sure you don’t want to throw anybody under the bus, but it would be helpful for me and anyone else looking to build out a Tundra to know which company you tried to get sliders from that led you on for 7 months.
IT was more of a contracted influencer thing not as much of a getting dragged along as a person buying stuff. I do this full time and in order for this to make sense talking about products I rely on brand relationships with brands I know are good. They make a good product but were completely disregarding of my time when I could have just moved on. I will now be getting something built by a local person custom made.

Where’d you get that back up bar. I have about the same set up have some diode dynamic in my bumper on a switch but that bar would be great for everyday

You’ll have to tap into the trailer hitch wiring which I don’t exactly know how to do but you can check some forums or take it to a shop.

I’m curious why you went with the truck cap + roof top tent instead of a canopy camper… cost? Do you plan on taking the cap off occasionally? Or do you need to use your bed for truck stuff? Great setup overall 👌
So I may at some point do that but I was always super curious about the truck bed living world so I wanted to give this a shot. I do think a camper might be more comfortable but I wasn’t really ready for that price tag. The one I want to eventually try out is essentially a big topper with a bed up front so I may like that more. The radica moonlander.
And yeah I’ve been calling it a remote hole punch but I couldn’t think of that word while I was filming. It’s a good term to skirt around the UA-cam stuff.
@@OXFOOT cool. Not familiar with that one - I’ll check it out. Kinda like the Harker Outdoors EDC myself, especially since I’m looking at a shortbox midsize pickup. It uses the tailgate as living space once popped up.

There’s a shop in CO called shock rehab that does really great work. Depending on where you live though you could probably find someone fairly easy to get them rebuilt.
