- This is the opening theme to the 1989 Legend Of Zelda Cartoon, which aired on Friday afternoons in place of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Just another reason to love Fridays back then.
Enjoy, and feel free to comment.

I just love the version of the main theme here. Wish there was a version of it available without the dialogue and sound effects.
Same. Its very adventurous sounding
Boo, you didn't grow up with this didja alucard? 80s babies love it as is
Hey as an "80's baby" myself, I'd love it with only the music by itself and none of the voice/sounds. The music on this show was beautiful 👍
@@johncaedus3376 No, we don't.
the closet version is the Soul Calibur II
I never watched it, but I watched the ad for it in every Super Mario Brothers Super Show episode, so the "Excuse me princess" line has remained with me all these years.
Same here. I still find it so funny sometimes.
Same bro
Real.
Yea I’ve practically memorized it by now because of that show
Same lol
I'd plunk myself down in front of the TV every Friday after school, make a big bowl of Nintendo Cereal System cereal (The LoZ cereal, of course,) and stay glued to it the entire episode. Shame that there were so few episodes of this since the SMB show only lasted a few months, but watching the show was one of my fond childhood memories.
0:38 i like the little detail of him breaking the surface tension of the water with his sword beams for a less painful fall for zelda
In the very first episode (and in a later one where Zelda gets smitten with a noble Knight) Link explains that in this version of the lore he wasn't the son of a guard or raised by fairies like in most videogames, but an adventurer who lived traveling around and gained lots of "street smarts" knowledge before Zelda asked him to live at the castle, in the same room where the Triforce of Wisdom is held, to protect it.
In the last episode quoted Link decides to leave Zelda with the kinght, but Zelda calls him back realizing the noble Knight has no experience of the real world outside of staged battles and castle life, and so he was an entitled coward while Link was smart and resourceful
"EXCUUUUUUSE ME, Princess." 🤣🤣 I laugh every single time I hear it.
To be fair, Zelda was being sarcastic 😂😂😂😂😂
WELL EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME PRINCESS

Say it with me:
"Well, EXCUSE ME, princess!"
It Never Gets Old Period 🔥💚😂
To each their own, but I loved this as a kid! I thought it brought so much personality to both Link and Zelda! :D
No the it lmao.
Not good personalities though
Yeah, pretty much the opposite personalities as to who they are in all their incarnations in canon...
Excuuuuse me, Princess.
@@Tounushi Keep in mind there were only two games out at the time, barely enough to establish Zelda and Links personalities other than Zelda was a smart classic damsel in distress and Link the courageous hero.
I honestly want a Legend of Zelda game based kind of on this: Link and Zelda adventuring together to save Hyrule, bickering like a Will They/Won't They Couple the whole time!
And there'd be different reasons to use either character: Link would be better for direct combat and feats of strength while Zelda would be better for magic and arrows.
We might get that in breath of the wild too except the bickering part because link doesn’t talk lol
I can see concepts like the Cressword and the Jar of Evil being used if I'm being honest.
That, would be awesome!
Best Link/Zelda interaction is in Spirit Tracks, you should play it if you haven't already
@@buffalooftheuniverse4279 In a nutshell, BOTW/TOK Zelda is Cartoon Zelda without any self worth because of major daddy issues.
0:41 that sword shot had a distinct sound effect.
It's the same sound effect that's made when you shoot a projectile from your sword in the original game
Every week I couldn't wait for Friday so I could watch this. I still love it
@TroubadorPoet yes and those were my two favorite Captain N episodes
I have the whole series. I like the old Zelda stuff.
I could have sworn it was Wednesdays LoZ aired.
@@BrandyBrandalia My area did it on Thursdays.
This is literally my childhood
the nostalgia hit hard
0:29 This is where Link learned to break jars!
Pans
Moblin: /breaks jars
Link: *_"Oh? This is a thing now?"_*
/breaks anything and finds 50 rupee piece
Zelda: *_"DAMMIT LINK! THAT VANITY WAS AN HEIRLOOM!"_*
Link: *_"EXUUUUUUUSE me Princess!"_*
Zelda: *_"This is mine too..."_*
/snatches rupee from Link
Link: /sighs in despair
Sprite: /giggles
Lol
Lol
Let's hope he never goes to Queen's Mansion then
this would always play when i would watch the super mario super show, so i will always remember this, this is a whole ton of nostalgia right in front of my eyes
Nothing made me happier than getting home from school on Friday and hearing this theme
Friday mornings before school were the best because of this!
That's funny. I lived on the west coast, they aired this in the afternoon _after_ I got home from school. Mon-Thurs *Mario.* Fridays was *Zelda.* Man, those were some magical times as a kid.
@@shadowman5567 Same here. This show was the perfect way to start the weekend after school on Friday afternoon.
Oh, how the canon has developed...
Also, how Ganon has developed. 😅
Yeah, this aired on tv back in 1989, on Fridays, in place of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, when TLOZ series only had TLOZ, and Z2: The Adventure Of Link. Up to this point, the Triforce was only known to have 2 different parts: wisdom, and power.
Furthermore, a limited amount of backstory for the many characters, and the world of Hyrule had the creators, D.I.C (pronounced Deek) animation, pretty much have to create their backstories, some characters, and things. For examples, Spryte the fairy princess likes Link, Ganon's minions come from his "evil jar", Ganon's abilities are limited in "the upper world" (simply meaning outside his lair), and the Triforce talks.
That intro makes me tear up so bad man, I loved that game and I was so hyped seeing the cartoon as a kid. Late 80s knew to do best to make a game cartoon
My opinion this is the most underrated cartoon of the 1980’s
Loved this as a kid. Rushed home from school to watch fridays at 3
Excuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess?
The Legend of Zelda is my favorite NES game ever! I played it non stop in the 80s, yet I'm only finding out about this animation today!
Yeah it seemed like the local stations only played this at ungodly hours like 6am when it was on. I only knew about it because it used to be on at 8 when it first came on the air
This was my jam back in the day. I was sad that it ended. Imagine how I felt when Link and Zelda returned in Captain N😀. I loved my childhood.
Probably the best version of zelda theme
In 1992, The Legend of Zelda was one of four Nintendo-based cartoons included in the compilation television series Captain N & The Video Game Masters syndication package by Rysher Entertainment; however, when episodes of The Legend of Zelda were aired, they were sped up and cut significantly to around ten minutes.
Haha I remember being so excited to catch this on Fridays. Also funny that this was the first time Link had a horse, which is such a staple now!
ALL TOGETHER NOW.... 1.. 2.. 3 EXCUSE ME PRINCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no...just no
@@retrojoe282 Well, excuuuuuuse me, princess.
…I’m sorry-
0:31 Swings at Link, misses, literally flies halfway across the room without Link touching him.
It's a scene taken from an episode. After the whole thing Link in the cartoon grabs a magazine, returns to bed reading muttering something about not needing any effort because his enemies are made that way
After 30 years, I think it's time for the creators to look into making another TV show.
Eh. Given how much modern tv show producers disrespect the source material, I’d rather they didn’t. Not even Tolkien’s works were respected. The Mario movie did well I found it glossed over some aspects of the established canon.
loved this show as a kid. now my 8 year old is currently going through the series and he seems to enjoy it. He also likes exo squad.
I’m surprised this guy uploaded 2 years ago used to watch his videos all the time when I was younger nostalgic memories indeed
I remember seeing this as a commercial in the super mario super show dvd
This theme of zelda stays my favorite
I love The Legend Of Zelda since 1992 with The Legend Of Zelda : A Link To The Past (SNES). I was only 7 years old at the time , but I fell in love with The Legend Of Zelda.
@britneyspearsvillarosa me too! Years ago I found a Link action figure without his sword. Albeit he has blonde hair and not brown. Nonetheless I still have it in storage. 🤗🎮⚔🔻
I loved this cartoon.
Best Serie 😭❤
I miss this show so much.
I swear if he doesn’t say Excuuuuuuuse me in the movie I will cry
Both link & Zelda made a guest appearance on CAPTAIN N THE GAME MASTER where link got older & more serious with his work
My childhood right here damn i miss this show 😭
It's good that Shout Factory , Cookie Jar, Mill Creek Entertainment, Viz Media, Funimation and other DVD comapany made a lot of Cartoons/Anime series from the 80's, 90's, 2000 and beyond in complete DVD collections over the years like Transformers, Power Rangers, Super Mario Bros, Miraculous Ladybuy and other animated series. But I still wished they have done something interesting for a changed like released some past Cartoons/ Anime shown in UK/USA/ Australia from the 90's, 2000 and beyond like:
Cartoons: Blazin Dragons, Space cats, Starla and the Jewel Riders, The Addams Family, Creepy Crawlers,Mighty Ducks, Mary Kate and Ashley in Action, Biker Mice from Mars 1993 and Gormiti Nature Unleashed.
Anime: Cardcaptors, Spider Riders, Yo Kai Watch and Ultimate Muscles.
It may sound a lot to wished for but if you have some favourites Cartoons/Anime memories from your childhood like me then you would understand from what I'm coming from even though it's unsudden if it even going to happen in the future. I know a few of them were released into DVD in the past but none of them were in complete DVD collections like Transformers and Pokemon. I think it's about time that Shout Factory and other DVD comapany should think of making them into DVD because that could make them successful. But maybe not on Blu-Ray as some of us like myself don't have a Blu- Ray DVD Player.
The nostalgia
"Great!" 👍
I loved this cartoon ❤
Remember seeing this on captain mario I was 6 in 1990 until I was 7 8n 1991 though this cartoon and the super Mario bros cartoon segments were was great about captain Mario 🧜♀️
Lol im watching mario on Pluto app on ps4 and seeing these XD. The nostalgia is epic for these cartoons.
I think you mean "Captain N The Game Master" and "The Super Mario Bros. Super Show"...
I remember watching the super show Alot on Netflix and always seeing this and actually wanting to see the series
Just got back from watching the Mario Movie and if there ever is a Loz movie Link better say “excuuuse me princess”
Well Excuuuuuuuuse Me Princess 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm not a Zelda fan,but damn does this intro hit hard!
I remember seeing random intros of tv shows on a DvD, and this came up.
Luigi: Well gee Mario, what are we suppose to do now???
Mario: I’ve got an idea Luigi! Let’s check out these brand new exciting scenes from the next Legend of Zelda!
Luigi: Oh yeah good idea!
(Capt Lou and Danny Wells stare at camera)
Fridays were the best 💜
It’s official. There will be a live action Zelda movie. They had better reference the “Excuse Me, Princess” line.
The legend of Zelda cartoon reminds me of the Super Mario Bros. super show and speaking of the super Mario Brothers super show Mario and Luigi, talking about the legend of Zelda cartoon
This version of Princess Zelda is best Zelda.
I watched a little of this show first before playing alttp which was my first Zelda. Ganon in this show was how I pictured Agahnim to look lol
Excuse me princess
Hey any idea where I can get this in Audio format so I can use it as a ring tone
Use a youtube to mp3 converter?
Zedge
Well excuuuuuuuse me sam
Despite him being a goof he really kicks ass.
thanks to my parents for raising me with this instead of tablets
well exxxxcuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me princess
This song was also used in oracle of ages when link goes to the past
To be fair, there were only two LoZ games at the time, neither of which had much story. We didn't have the decades of storylines and lore that we have now. The writers had to make up stuff for the shoe.
Literally the best part of the show
I remember I only saw this in the Super Mario Super Show, and didn’t know it was an actual full show 😅
Excuseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Me... Princess!
Technically, the Super Show was still on during Fridays. It's the cartoon that is different.
It's sad how this show didn't get more episodes or a season 2
If it came out today, it would be cancelled mid season.
Link Belches real loudly
Link: Excuuuuse me, Princess!
I can't believe that THIS is the origin of Ganon's signature evil laugh.
Gotta love the voice of Link! "For you Zelda? Anything!" lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Imagine if Ganon looked like that lol
He did.
I mean, that's basically how he looked before they created Ganondorf
If this new Mario movie does well, they should look at a Legend of Zelda movie.
Tom holland as link 😂
And probably Selena Gomez as Zelda
It’s confirmed by Sony and live action
Let’s hope it’s great as the Mario Movie by Illumination
The Legend Of Zelda Cartoon - Opening Theme (Higher Quality) 0:00
EXCUSEEEEEE ME PRINCESS
Link Is the boss at the princess
Zelda's voice actress looks just like her.
The pink in the title is SO off brand! Gotta love the 80s ☺️
I remember this and sonic underground would play before the menu on the Mario tv show cd
I love Gannon's laugh
Hey Excuseee meee Princess
„We need more 90s tude. If we keep it like this it won’t feel awkward 30 years later.“ „Well excuuuuuuuse me.“
Well Excuse me princess
Imagine if this cartoon was actually canon to the Zelda chronology timeline
The amount of times I have said to someone, EXCUUUUUUUUUSE MEEE, and they've clearly had no idea why I have said it that way :P haha...
I like how its called the TRIforce and yet somehow there ended up being 2
nice job hero "hey EXCUUUUUUSE ME, Princess."
I would’ve expected a pilot episode that features elements from the intro
Hey Excuse Me PRINCESS
It is probably links, iconic catchphrase. Excuse me, princess which place in each episode
I would've also loved to see a live-action Legend of Zelda: Super Show series starring Jerry O'Connell as Link and Christina Applegate as Zelda (also voicing them in the cartoon) where the show is more like a soap-opera than a sitcom like Lou Albano's Mario.
Real question is.. where does this fit in the zelda timeline?!
m y c h i l d h o o d
Bring Zelda back as either an animated movie from Dreamworks or an animated show for Netflix
0:34 - It always bugged me that Link was in the tower, then suddenly on a horse in the zoom-out.
they forgot courage
That didn't exist until Zelda 2, which I assume wasn't out at the time.
@@looe9195 man its so weird seeing link use the old man short sword instead of the master sword
@@looe9195 Incorrect.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link came out in North America in December 1988, nine months before the animated series premiered.
@@looe9195 Didn't the prologue in Zelda II mention No. 3 Triforce? Even so, the sequel was made after the animated series, so that is probably why only wisdom and power are mentioned.
@@Eclipse2582 but cartoons often take a long time to produce. Perhaps even the writing was complete for the show before Zelda 2 was released.
0:48
I don’t understand why They didn’t add or mention the triforce of courage
I watched this first when I was about 13 years. It feels nostalgic, but when you compare to the games it is just too weird lmao
I just noticed there are only two “tri” forces 😄
