I mean, this is a guy who enters people's houses at will, steals their Rupees, places bombs right outside their doors and in their houses, violates tombstones, ditches his duties for side-quests, screws over all of Hyrule's sleep schedule, went all hammer & tong with god knows how many women in Zelda II and is generally cruel to animals, chickens in particular. So yeah, Link is kind of a dickbag and this cartoon was surprisingly accurate with that!

Zelda is a jumbled mess of three timelines stemming from Ocarina of Time (Adult Link wins, Child Link wins, Link loses and the Sage have to pick up the slack against Ganon). The timeline of the "Downfall" is the worst possible, with the Hero of Time having failed and several Links having to pick up. Furthermore, Zelda, Link and Ganon are now quite distant from what they once were: Zelda is much less divine and "hears the gods" less, Link is more carefree and Ganon lost his cunning instead having a feral craving for power Hence, it makes sense for the "Hero of Downfall" being a braggart and a womanizer with a hidden sliver of what Link once was, for Zelda to be a stuck up queen bee without any mystical power and Ganon to be a brutish wizard
