Chinese manufacturer's engineers: "'18% larger than a 2306', write that down, write that down!"
Just got mine installed on my new apex and they are hands down the best motors I've ever flown.
Noice 👍👍😎😎🔥🔥🔥
Why they are better than another motors ?
@@pulsionproduction4703 cuz kabab worked on them lol
Did you have to adjust PID tuning? I’m having issues with my 5” 6S moon goat.
What fc did you use with it? I'm also planning an apex build with these motors
He's got so many motors...I'm so j e a l o u s
It depends. Not so nice anymore when you have a bunch of unused obsoleted type motors in your shelf with a knowledge that you can't even sell that stash because no one around wants them anymore.
Probably the cleanest windings I’ve ever seen!
Imperial Motor is the most epic name I’ve heard
Even the FPV Cycle logo looks kind of like the Empire's lol.
I hope the next version is the rebel version, then maybe jedi..
Yes! I am a huge fan of 1500mah 5s. Please bring us a good 5.5" prop. Just ordered the new motors in 2200kv, thanks for all you do.
Thats right!been running one quad on 2207.5 2200 kv s on 5s hurricane 5149.9x3s for a good while. other quads get 2450 kv s same 5s 1500mah. Preferred over anything else. 4s still run them also!
"I dunno what I'm doing" 😂😂
Kabab's slogan for 2021 😂😂
Thanks Bob for what you do. 🖖🏽
Reverse clickbait when the title is infact true 😳. Can’t wait to get these. I just emailed you via the website about the glide frame, can you please get back to me when you can. Thank you!
Bummer was hoping to try this but no 4S version...sigh!
The 2200kv version should work fine on 4S.
@@friendlynomad9840 fine maybe but not stellar. Not everybody has the money to switch to 6S when 4S is working just fine for them.
@@AndyDreadFPV 4s is great, good 5.5 or 6'' kv
The 2200 on 4s is good but I really just don't recommend 4S. on any 5" over ~580g
Thank you for you wisdom 🙏. You are one of the true gurus of this hobby.
Any chance for a EU distribution somehow? Sadly shipping with the expensive option is prohibitively expensive especially when only getting a couple of replacement motors or similar. This is really stopping me from ordering from FPVcycle shop. I would love to try out these motors, though!
Please ask your local shops to contact us. We're open to it.
@@Kabab Dunno about Junglist FPV but I'll ring them up ;) - debated whether to order from TBS but I ordered from you instead yesterday so looking forwards to a fresh new Floride build!
@@Kabab Thanks I will certainly shoot them a message!
You mean best Bob edit...EVER. Love supporting this kind of research and development. Thanks again, Bob.
Please make them available at tbs 🙏 shipping to India is easier 🙏🙏
Its all coming on tbs. Bob is also working on world wide shipping
@@Max_0578 That's fantastic news! 😃
I'm from Brazil and shipping from the US hurts! 😬
@@MCsCreations yea, im from the netherlands and shipping outside the us is just ridiculous
Wonderful to hear the pride and excitement in your voice. Shoulda put your name on em though doc. I reckon you've earned it.
Na I'm not a fan of my name on things.
So I built out the Glide with these on it - standard Glide, nothing extravagant except little plastic skids, a couple LEDs and a Vista, and all up with GoPro and battery: 790g. I think the main problem is the Hero 9 in its huge TPU mount is a real pork pie, and I wonder if it's really worth it.
The H9 is just a huge pain
Industry leading innovation!! I LOVE, love, LOVE the time and effort you put into your products!!
It’s exactly why %60 of my quads have FPV Cycle frames and motors!!
Dr. Bob loves this motor because it sounds like a dentist drill.
Just flew them, went from ~551g auw to ~561g from Stouts to Imperials. Very very nice and the throttle is so smooth! I run a 80% throttle limit and with the Stouts on a full throttle run, they reach top end pretty quickly and stop accelerating. The imperials keep pulling and I let off first.
Dude I can’t wait to try out the 23mm 1850 I’ve motors. They look dope!!
Should be coming very soon. Motors start arriving on Tuesday
Well, I'm not ready to switch to 6s yet, but damn, now I really want to:-)
Thanks!
Thank you for all you do for this community!!! Can't wait to try this latest experiment, the 2203s were game changers for cinematics!
When I first looked at the available KV options I was so confused lol "What are imperial KV???" now I know that it's the design name
I see I’m not the only one who was up late working:) good stuff man. I’ll have to grab a set 👍
This is the most humble dude ever! Keep up the good work!
I better put my Depends on before settling down for this one... I appreciate how you targeted a specific thing with this motor and your objective was clear!
I ordered right after the video was posted. Used my work break :) but didn’t have time to post until now. These look siiiiiiick
Just picked up a set. I'm sure I'll love them! Thanks Kabab!
Bob baited me.
Haha me too😂
Congratulations Bob! I can hear the happiness when you talk about them. They look great I and cant wait to try a set.
Sounds perfect. I fly heavy 5" quads too, looking forward to ordering a bunch of these. Hope the stock lasts.
This is the motor I've been waiting on. Hopefully I can get a 721 auw w/gp7 flying better with these. I started on race builds at 500 auw at most, and all that extra weight makes it fly like a school bus, probably would have liked all that weight if I had started with it. Thanks for all your work Bob!
Great job Bob 👍🤘👊 interested in trying these out 🤔
That motor just looks clean and crisp even sitting there.
In the clip at 3:00, they sound very different than other motors. More whining/ zipping and less of a woosh. Maybe its just the audio filtering.
That's probably more so the gopro hero 8 that has a shitty mic on it. The session 5 has a fantastic mic.
@@Kabab wait, the session has a _better_ mic? Wth gopro?
LOVE IT!!! 5S!!!...YES!!. I need to figure out how to get my hands on some of these!! ASAP!
Most beautiful motors I've seen... inside n out
You got me with the "bait".
I got this when I tried HQ5141 prop, I fly Steele v3 motors 2450kv at 4S and always has this problem of recovering a dive or loop around a tree to go up a little and depending on the tree I hit the branches with 5146 or even 5043, when I tried the 5141 it all went away, now the quad is so predictable and much more thr resolution, if I need more speed to follow an RC plane or whatever I change props back to 5146
Damn you! I just came to terms with the cost of the 30mm motors. Now these motors? Fine....take my money ;D
What’s the deal with people talking about the desyncs? Is this something that affects all ESC?
Na. It's not all but the motors do have some annoying issue we're working on a solution for. The manufacturers annoyingly cut some corners on the magnets it seems so we're making new bells and will be sending everyone new bells. We've taken the stock off the store for now as well until we get the new bells.
@@Kabab Did the manufacturer manage to give you a date for the bells ? :)
I ordered the Imperials and put them on a Glide, then I won a frame on someone's livestream and had to come back for another set 😂 buying more motors before the first set has even flown, I have problems.
Kick ass flying bud, I find myself pulling out of a dive very often lol, thanks for sharing 👋
Your videos are always the best, your flying is sooo good
Nice motors I would like to get some for my quad but I hear they having issues they
de sync,, please let me know if this fix????
I want it for my 5 inches quad I think Emerald right will fit good and why you guys name it Emerald???
We're waiting on the raw materials shortage unfortunately. Magnets are non existent currently.
Okay man anyways thank you I like the design hopefully you bring soon good news on this motors definitely I will get then please keep us updated it 👍🏻
Hey Bob, forget about Stormtroopers. Say clone trooper... They were much better. 😬
But what a motor! Really beautiful! 😮
And seem to fly amazingly!
Stay safe there! 🖖😊
Does it has rubber oRing inside?
This one does not. It uses a set of washers on top instead and the shaft has a tuned length.
Once again Thank You for all your hard work and time spent testing/developing these great new products! patiently waiting for the propellers, is there a rough timeline estimate on when they might be released? the 5.25" and the 7"
They look fantastic motors... Can't believe the weight for such a larger stator. 🤯
I've still to test out the ones you sent me. Cheers for sending them 🍻👍 I'm waiting on some good weather but I'm thinking they're not going to give me enough control. My 360 quad with 4s 3000mah Li-ion is heavy! 🙈😬
I might build something else to use them on... Was looking at building a mini x8 for carrying a full GoPro and then I saw you'd done it! Maybe an inav mini x8 would be a good platform for cinematic work.
Thank you for the explanation on where the Imperial name came from. Ive been so confused and have been wondering where the metric motors were. Bahaha
I'm really hurt you don't have a kv for 4s. Sure could run a lower kv but would rather find a different motor with the kv I want. The white looks amazing as well.
We tested it in a couple of different kv on 4s and it just wasn't as good as 5s or 6s. The wasp from rcinpower is a better 4s motor. if I made a 4s motor it would either be the wasp or the smoox 2306.5
Holy shit, how smooth was the flying in that intro!!!?! Great stuff Bob, looking forward to checking out the motors!
i'm quite sure the intro footage is reelsteady'd. 3:4 video ratio later in the video kinda confirms it. also the perspective warp you get from stabilizing
Hey Kabab! Ordered your BetaFPV layout by Kabab 2.1v F4 toothpick FC from Switzerland 🇨🇭
I‘m really excited to get it & see if it lasts, I fly like Maverick (Top_Gun).
Got a job for me in FPV drones? I taught myself to fly & need to evolve, develop myself further.
Great review, have fun, happy fly’n & take care 🤓😉😘
Everybody gonna be bringing back the imperial March startup tones 🤣
Once I can finally fly bc the snow hasn’t stopped here I’ll definitely consider getting these, but I have a few spares b4 I go and buy anything else 😆
Great video. Very efficient, just ordered mine!
Larger bearings have less drag from lubricant, less heat, less friction. It doesn't make sense that at those high kv's it wouldn't make a significant difference. I guess the larger size hides any friction loss from a tiny bearing? Curious if you tried the same size motor with a larger bearing and if you observed any difference?
Yeah tried. Didn't matter. You're right about the heat and friction but unknown what size is big enough. Real world testing shows 9mm is sufficient. Going to 10mm also adds about 2g of weight to the motor so not worth it if no real benefits
Thank you for testing every single motor option so we don't have to
Great to hear your making progress... thinking it's time to try a new build :)
They looks sweet!!
Ooooooo I see you wit the fancy Intro comp Bob, I see you 👌😅
I'm a big fan of your work experimenting in the real world, both with motors and your frame designs. I'm curious when you compared the performance of these Imperials to say a 2207 or 2306 (or say 2208 for comparable volume), was that with a custom tune & throttle curve for each, or using defaults? I'm wondering how close to that same level of throttle/altitude control one could get with a throttle curve that gives more resolution at the lower end? I imagine you probably asked yourself that same question at some point, and would be curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
Software curves cannot replicate the control feel of hardware designed to mechanically work differently. Software might be able to sort of mimic the effect but will not give the control needed to feel the same. It's not a huge difference but it also is when you're flying these things subconsciously rather than thinking about what you're doing.
Great flight montage at the beginning! The results are clear to see~~
Take my money oh wait I already gave it LOL Thanks for all your hard work for this hobby 😀
Have you thought about combining these with a quality Esc & prop manufacturer & selling this motor in a kit form . With 4 motors , esc’s & 2 sets of props ...?
I am working on it but I am also extremely particular about my components and they must live up to a very high standard. the flight controller is almost done being made and the new am-32 escs are almost ready as well but the escs aren't coming from me right now. I am going to give it a generation or two for refinements before making one myself
@@Kabab I think we’re all grateful for what you’ve done for the hobby over the years . We all wish you the very best . Both in this endeavor and your Dentistry business . We will Patiently wait for Your New Quality components to be released . Thanks for your response & look forward to your future video’s ..
okay so im not new to this hobby but i wanna build my own 5 inch after selling all my gear cause i wanted to switch to digital or not fly at all but since digital was really expensive to me that time i didnt buy any digital bnf and i wasnt even thinking about building one myself cause i dont even know how and what i need... and i still dont really know what exactly i need or what works together
so here is what i came up with:
apex 5 inch frame (version to fit the dji unit)
these beautiful motors (1870kv)
dji air unit with caddx
iFlight SucceX-D Mini F7 TwinG stack or the
MAMBA Stack DJI F722 MK2 (dont know which one is better)
tbs crossfire receiver
is this all i need?
using a tango 2 and obviously the dji goggles...
Here's my top recommendations:
Go ght dji FPV route. The goggles and vista only. DJI FPV controller is optional but I like that too because it's all one system but the controller is really overpriced for what it does.
Next, the new batch of 25mm motors we have arriving on Tuesday are absolutely beautiful and awesome. Watch for them.
Pair that with the Sonicare frame (we'll have that in stock tomorrow), the 51433 prop and a 1050-1250mah 6S pack for a really stellar quad.
@@Kabab what would you say is the flight time for such a setup
@@franzferdinand1 that entirely depends on how you fly it. 3min is typically what I get but I'm going all out. If you take it a little easier, 5min is doable. It'll hover for like 8min or more. I don't really hover ever.
If you're new, flight time usually isn't a big concern. Play some sims for a week or so and then build a quad. 👍
What current does the FPVcycle 25mm 1870kv pulls? What ESC would you recommend? The website does not specify the current rating of the motor.. weirdly
Any ESC capable of 20A and 6S is enough. Commonly today all esc's are grossly overpowered
Cant wait to try em out will be here soon
Definitely looking into those for my next 5" build! Which prop would you recommend with these? Just for regular freestyle. Keep up the good work!!
Cheers
Why not disclose motor size? Secret motor size? Efficient?
I believe I picked up in a previous video that this is not go give the exact dimension to the competition, as he's been cloned within days before!
When will the FPVCYCLE 1S AIO WITH TBS CROSSFIRE + TBS PRO32 NANO VTX come back in stock?
Hopefully next week. It's on the way
Hi kabob, ordered the 2200kv and wanted to know if you test the gnb 1350 5s 130c, or if you ever had your hands on a 1250 130c 5s? Ordering the 1550 120c gnb from fpv cycle today but was curious. Thanks again for all you do.
we've got a GNB 5S 1550 and GNB 6S 1100 and 1250 in the store. all fantastic packs. truly fantastic and a good value for the performance
Is Willy Nilly LA Dentristry jargon? Heha love ur content
I'm a little confused by the naming scheme. Do you recommend a race motor. I'm currently trying to push my quad to a thousand flights no broken parts. Unfortunately as I passed 400 I found 3 pyro ecos have 3+ sliped magnets not a scuff on the motor. I'm thinking of swapping the motors to something better and restarting. The heads up 2207 have treated me well but I usually have to swap the bearings rather quickly. Im also looking into the velux, I have a set of emax eco 2 and they seem great but they're heavy and lower power making them too different from my backups to fly imo. Any recommendations.
The motors we have now are extremely fast and good for racing. Unfortunately there are QC problems across very product in this industry. We strive to do better but I'd be lying if I said we have no QC issues. At least we take care of them without hassle.
@@Kabab ill have to try a set. I get qc issues frankly I don't want to pay what it would cost to have 0 qc. I just get thrills about finding that dimond in the ruff. Thanks for the insight I've always enjoyed your videos and perspectives.
Looks friggin awesome....well done!
@KababFPV I have your wonderful motors flown in the video, they are awesome, such throttle control! What prop were you using in that video?
Gemfan 51433
@@Kabab Thank you, I just built my quad with your motors, they do feel quite different, video is up loading as we speak.
i cannot WAIT to buy these motors to mod what used to be a roma f5. gonna take the fc and esc and pin that crap on a moongoat frame and soft mount the motors. should be juicy. I love the minimalistic white its so sexy and it flies just as good as it looks. that particular buzz from the motor says a lot. did you try it on 4s?
Please standby. The next batch will be much cleaner looking and work well
@@Kabab How can you improve on perfection?
@@JamesManimal couple little annoyances on this motor. Mostly cosmetics.
When you say as a fix for the desync “10% throttle cut of” on the website are you talking a 90% throttle limit or 90% motor out put? Any chance you could shine some more light on this one?
Either one. It's happens with sharp movements. The small throttle cut just makes the movements a little less sharp.
@@Kabab thanks!
Motors look great you sending any to UK or Europe Bob?
If retailers contact us they'll go out there.
The flying is sooo nice, I love the look of the white motors.Great job! If you’re able to say(and it’s not to forward of me) may I ask who the manufactures are. Just curious :)
The white ones are made by brother hobby. The green manufacturer doesn't want to be named
what motor/prop combo would you recommend for a heavy 5" quad (800gr) with Gopro10 and 1300mah Lipo ? currently running 2306.5 1950kv but i need something more snappy
Unfortunately it doesn't really get much more snappy than ~2307-2507 for 5" crafts that are heavy. Moving to a ~2507-2508 or even 2806 or similar with 6" props is likely going to help. If you're okay giving up power, you can try the gemfan F4S props that are very responsive or the Sbang props which are really super responsive but are less efficient, slower and less powerful than your typical 51433 prop. Dropping 50g will do more for you than probably any other changes
Kabab has killed it with glide and now with motors
What is it characteristic gramm/watt for 30-50% of power? I try to make 5" quadro for max long and slow fly.
Unfortunately I can't tell you that but it's also a difficult metric to trust because it has so much potential to be wrong. Whatever it is, it's similar to a 2306
your flight footage looks so pretty! What cam and settings are you using there??
It's a hero 8 with defaults. Probably what you're noticing is that I set my shutter to stay under 1/120 and use a dark ND filter. This is what gives it the super smooth effect. We sell the ND filter in the store. Otherwise it's full gopro defaults
Man that thing is flying like a champ. And those motors are sik🙌🤘 I dream of being able to do what you do lol I wanna be able
to try all these variations and builds. I'm Actually currently working on getting some sponsors so I can. But I'm want to build my next build with your glide frame cause I wanna build this one lighter but it looks like it's sold out alot. Which is a good sign but bad for me🤦♂️. Iv heard alot of good things though. But anyways those motors are so nice looking. Keep it up 👊✌️......now I really wanna try em. My 750g fatty quad is killing me and is drawing like 180amps somehow lol I'm guessing it's uncalibrated. But it sags my lipos down bad. They r not the greatest though
We're about to list a battery specifically for heavier 6S quads. A really stellar value for the incredible performance it dishes out. Hopefully it'll be up tonight some time. It's a 1250mah 130C 6S GNB pack
Damnnnn those are some beefy babys and yet the weight is low. Hmmmm hallow windings? Lol.
They look like 2408 but they don’t way 40 grams. Sexy looking motor well played sir
those are pretty looking motors thank u for the video
Looks awesome! The lack of a 4S version is a bit of a letdown though.
The 2200 on 4s is fine, just not super powerful. I tested higher kv on 4S but it wasn't worth it. 2306 motors perform better on 4s. Actually the wasp from rcinpower is probably the best 4s Option.
So, are these a viable option with a 4s battery setup? Under powered for 4s?
4s doesn't quite saturate the stator enough to make it work well if it's actually in 4s kv. The 2200 is good on 4s but not super powerful. A 2306 2550kv is going to be a bit more powerful.
Today is such a good day!!😉🤗
Two of my three Glides weigh 580g with Hero 5 Session, 1300mah 6S and T Motor F40 Pro IV. Would still you recommend this motor for my quads?
The other glide carries a hero 8, coming in at 650-670g, I guess that would be the sweetspot for the new motor right?
Yes absolutely these things are magical under 600g
dude... ok now im gonna watch the rest.
Would the 2200kv be good for 4s as well?
Yeah it works but generally don't recommend these motors on 4s
Frame "Comes with motor mounting screws" YES YES YES Thank you~!
Damn the shipping making it really expensive, but some day they will be mine!
Ask your local retailers to contact us for wholesale
What about bell separation? is this an issue?
The new batch coming is unibell and has had it's durability improved a lot. It's also absolutely beautiful. It's arriving on Tuesday
For a 600g quad would the "5s version" 1880v be better or the 2200kv?
On 6s
6s 1880kv is fantastic power.
These motors are fuckin nuts. Great work
Awesome stuff. What frame are you using in this video.
The Prototype 5. Linked in description
is there any way you will make them available in europe? or maybe even banggood?
I've been trying to actually find a banggood purchasing manager. Haven't been able to. Also, let your local retailers know that they can contact us for wholesale.
@@Kabab thank you very much for that info - will do!
ps: any way you would ship 4 (maybe one or 2 extra, if I destroy one) of them yourself to austria? they just look amazing and i follow your reviews since about a year and love what you do
Awesome name "imperial motor" ! By the way, you mentioned that you tested several motors, did you look (or reviewed) the ethix stout ? I wondering what's your opinion about it and how does it compares with the imperial motor
They're fine motors. They're 2306 so they perform similar to other 2306 motors.
Best motors ive ever flown
