Robin said, we all had to take this song as something we could relate to at times in our life...heartbroken when Robin passed away, but united again with his twin Maurice RIP boys ❤❤
No auto tune, just his one of a kind beautiful vibrato. The more you listen to the Bee Gees over their decades of songs, you'll see that they were as good live as in the studio. They always said they were perfectionists.
It is a statement song. Robin was more of a tumultuous person. Barry said he could be the happiest and funniest to the saddest soul out there. Barry reassured him often and even as Robin was passing, that they had made the dream come true and he could stop worrying. Theirs is such an amazing story of conflict mixed with true brotherly love. Spot on reaction.
This is Robin's signature song. Barry always turns his back to the audience and gives him the spotlight. Robin heard the melody that became this sing in the engines of a plane when they were flying to Germany.
This song never fails to make me cry, Robin's voice with that beautiful vibrato adds so much emotion and vulnerability. Robin actually had the highest voice of the group, Maurice the lowest and Barry fell into the middle range, They could all sing in falsetto but Barry's is just legendary. As much as I miss Maurice and Robin,'s talent (and Andy's) I can only imagine how painful the loss is for Barry.
l think Robin was 19 when he wrote this with his brothers, so talented. I was 13 when I first heard this and I never get sick of listening to it. Great reaction.
So that' Robin, the blue-eyed soul king. A truly songbird. The more you go on at your Bee Gees-journey, the more you're gonna find songpearls. For excample 'And The Sun Will Shine' (Robin), 'Trafalgar' (Maurice) or 'Bury Me Down By A River' (Barry).
Great reaction! Robin is amazing! I hope that you will do some reactions from The Midnight Special show from the 1970's. Live performances of the Bee Gees. Thanks!
Robin had such a hauntingly beautiful voice, it's called a vibrato Texas Love! He is dearly missed, as all of the brothers that have passed are! FABULOUS reaction my man!
One of the finest voices of his generation. His vibrato (the up and down you mentioned) was wonderful. If you want to hear his vocals isolated, have a look at Wings of Pegasus. Fil has done that. Love, love Robin
Amazing performance by Robin! They all were so talented, each with their own strengths. Combined, it led to magic. I believe it was Maurice that once said something like: one of us is great, two of us are amazing, and the three of us are magic. Well, in my opinion, he was right. I'm so happy to see people discovering the Bee Gees once again. And also that people learn more about Robin and Maurice. Most people get to know the Bee Gees from their Saturday night fever period, and that mostly revolves around Barry. So it is so nice to someone like yourself discovering more about this amazing band and that Robin and Maurice were incredibly talented.
He first sang this when he was eighteen or nineteen. He and Barry had just had a falling out, and the brothers broke up for a year. When they got back together thy were together until the end. Sibling rivalry is a bitch at times ;) Cheers.
One of my favourites despite the fact that for me it's a sad song yet beautiful at the same time . Please keep reacting to the BEE GEES there are so many more songs to go .
PBS just showed the 1997 concert, One Night Only and you know I had to watch it again and I had forgotten Olivia Newton John was in the audience and they sang a tribute to her.
Robin sung a beautifully soft Vibrato nobody could ever emulate his voice not even with a posh voice altering mic lol Robins songs are just so beautiful. ROBIN HAD NO FLAWS, check out his Isle of man anthem its called EllanVannin is WoW and he also done some christmas carols and him and son RJ wrote classical music called Requium for the Titanic
PS - Robin's youngest son was in his 20's when he lost his dad and they were very close. They composed the "Titanic Requiem" together, an orchestral piece to memorialize the 100th anniversary of that tragedy.
He had a beautiful soulful and vulnerable voice. In 1967 Robin and his then fiancee were in a fatal train derailment where over 40 people died at the scene and I believe others of their injuries later. He helped as many people as he could before the emergency services got there. He and his fiancee were sent to hospital but discharged. He never forgot what he saw and heard and Barry said, 'from that point on pathos entered his songwriting and he took to singing sad songs'.
Robin sings with vibrato, barry with tremolo (you call it harmonica). Vibrato is the periodic variation of the pitch (frequency) of a musical note and tremolo is defined as a rapid repetition of the same note to produce the audible effect of a longer note,
Beautiful song. Robin has an amazing voice! I love how he puts so much raw emotion into each and every word. I love them all but I think Robin has the best voice of the three ❤
That wavering of his voice is called vibrato. FYI. He told his family that he wanted this song played at his funeral. His older son, RJ, sang it in the hospital room when Robin died, and again at the funeral.
Robin sang this song at every concert performance since it was released. It held deep meaning for him and he has said it was a very spiritual song for him. He had requested it as one of the songs to be played at his funeral. To me it is resonates of someone who has said the wrong thing at the wrong time and inadvertently hurt someone and they now struggle with those feelings of remorse and guilt.
Robin , there was never anyone like him! Mo said that he has the voice that touches your heart! Because of his soulful sound back in the day,May thought he was a black singer. He was very funny, ( they all were), but Robin had a special whit! He was extremely intelligent and very spiritual. He was an introvert where Mo and Barry were more extroverts. There is a video where he is doing the national song of the Isle of Man ( where they were born) with the kings choir that is so fantastic. There are others…oh, since it is the season, Robin did an entire Christmas album solo, it is great as well! You should hear him sing Christmas songs! Some are out on UA-cam!
Been waiting for this. One of my favorite songs with Robin on vocals. Bee Gees remain in my top five, along with Pink Floyd. Time to react to some Floyd.
It's easy to forget during this song that Robin was the goofy trickster of the family. The beautiful, soulful, serious side that so many jokesters have.
Robin always said that it was for everyone to interpret for themselves. Robin has an incredible vibrato. Robin came up with the idea for this while on an airplane sitting next to an engine. It was written in the late 60s.
Robin’s son RJ sings this song with the Gibb Collective (some of the brother’s children and Andy’s daughter) and does his father very proud. They all make their Dads proud.
You need to check out Man in the Middle or Closer than Close for Maurice singing lead!!! Robin’s vibrato was amazing! His son Spencer has the same vibrato. You can hear it in Empty Room. You can check out some of their children in The Gibb Collective with Please Don’t Turn out the Lights.
I was going to suggest Wings of Pegasus reactor who did an isolated reaction to Robin's voice. I see someone already mentioned it earlier in the comments. Robin is incredible!!
Robin did mention once that he felt a connection to the story of Jesus. When you listen to the words with that in mind it takes you to another level of understanding where he was coming from. Thanks Texas great reaction as per usual. Hope you're feeling better today 💚
