Robin was a national TREASURE. Nobody could copy his voice. Barry himself said many performers copied and even mocked his falsetto but NOBODY could copy Robin's vibrato and he just opened his mouth and it was natural with no effort. The entire song except for "Country, country lanes" was Robin. It was Robin's voice that made me go out and buy their first album in 1967. Robin spent his last 30 years in the small town of Thame, Oxfordshire in a thousand year old haunted monastery, the Prebendal, far removed from the maelstrom that was most of their life. The home was visited by Henry VIII and Joan of Arc was sentenced to death there. He loved to stroll the country lanes. Another video of this song shows him strolling through the grounds of his ancient home. He loved history and loved that home. He must have felt he was dreaming living a much different life than they had in the rough post war streets of Manchester and their early poverty, a part of the history he so loved. He is buried across the street from his home in St Mary's churchyard. Ten years later his grave is still covered with flowers and tributes from around the world. "Main Course" was a big transition LP for them. My favorite line of the song "If I could live the dream that I see".

Haunting is my best word to describe Robins voice. Or ethereal. Clear as crystal. Barrys is soft, breathy and feathery.
