These things suffer from bad clutch springs pretty often. Mine with a free flowing muffler would always slip the clutch. Pulled it apart to find the clutch plates were like new but the springs had sagged over time . Upgraded it to some heavy duty ones and wow what a difference
You are so right about the "0 Roll Out". I've said before that I was stunned to see that the car companies as well as the Journalists both used a "Roll out" type of estimation on their 0 to 60 runs that was basically just LYING. LOL. And still do! What's new from Journalists though right? But this little bike rocks!
Mate this is 100% my old bike. A few details match up exactly to my old pics. I bought it in 2011 & sold it in 2015. I was on a LAMs licence & wanted something a bit different. I used it to commute to work in Brisbane. Other than regular maintenance, I rebuilt the carbies. One of them was completely missing a fuel jet! It gave me no trouble except a snapped clutch cable in the middle of peak hour traffic which was super fun. Glad to see it's still going strong & making someone else happy. I was thinking about how cool it was so decided to look up zxr250's & here it is!
My brother let me ride his cbr250r tricolour from the same era at 18 on my L’s - 18,000 was an amazing sound. Now having turned 41 I still hanker for a ride on one but the WR450F will have to do.
It's not all about hp and speed, that dosent get you trough a corner much faster. Good tires and sume suspension adjustment and you will keep up with most bikes in The corners
@@jasicjan Managed to find one in the UK and one in Greece, but neither really went anywhere (buyers asking too much and not willing to assist with shipping)… Kawasaki did recently announce a new ZX-4R four cylinder 400cc coming to Europe, i’m gonna wait and see if that might be a good modern alternative.
@@SephiMasamune I see, thats a good plan. They will launch this model by the end of the year I guess so its a long waiting time. Its unfortunate that the new model zx25r is prohibited from entering EU area due so emission restrictions :/
Torque is low because capacity is low. Good naturally aspirated engines usually have a torque figure close or a bit higher than the figure of their capacity (250 cc => 25 Nm irrespective of the engine layout and power per liter ratio)
All I can say is DO IT! I had one. It is all the bike you will ever need. I never had to twist the throttle all the way to beat the competition. You will not be disappointed! Love you're channel! I watch everything!
@@ZeroTo60Tube sorry mate just sold it needed to grow up so bought me a supercharged Kawasaki 🤣 message me if your keen to test it 😂😂 it makes the bmw feel slow
hello dude. try not use the clutch when you pushing hard, just quick release the throttle. you will not burn your clutch by slipping it between gears as you do. and it will go faster! 😎👌
I had a Kawasaki Balius back in the day. Same engine. Stripped it down and turned it into a cafe racer. Epic noise at 21,000rpm and no mufflers!
No mufflers would insane! The stock muffler on this thing is actually really restrictive and does a lot of muffling haha
@@ZeroTo60Tube I have yet to hear anything else, in person at least, that sounded as insane when it was at full noise
I did a month-long trip through Japan on a Balius 250 with an open Beet exhaust, so much fun in the tunnels!
Had a Balius too. Loved the sound and this vid brought back all the memories of that awesome little engine. Love the 4 pot screamers of the 90's!
I want to do this too. The cafe racer looks so cool
This brings back memories! Screaming around going no where lol

i put a 7 plate clutch in mine was great till it blew the crank
You can't beat the howl of high revving induction, bloody brilliant!
I had a 1999 silver zxr250, absolutely beautiful and such a fun bike...sounded soo good too.
Wish I kept it
One of my older brothers had a CBR250RR, same sort of insanely high revving engine - not super fast but the sound was amazing 😁
Great job Dave not that I don’t like Andrews videos but I like to see Dave occasionally
haha gotta mix it up every now and then right

haha too true. we run 0 roll out on everything because if you include it, its just not a true or real world 0-100
That's how Tesla get their 1.99 0-60 claim, which according to Engineering Explained is more like 6 to 60mph

I miss mine so much! It might be mine actually, same colour and sold it in '13 in Brisbane. More bikes please :)

yes that is a good point actually!
Currently looking at buying a 1990 ZXR250 but they’re unicorns in the EU
have u managed to get one?

SAWAKAKI! be safe out there
safe is my middle name lol
Any chance you could do a GPX250R. Apparently these had a 0-100km/h time of 5.8sec from factory.
Gpx250r is a parallel twin, right? Maybe faster but nowhere near the crazy scream of a four cylinder.
What function of two wire at handle bar?

Gotta love two stroke peak torque per cc
Get you an bmw s1000 brother! Suites the channel and you'll really be grinning ear to ear!
Funny you mention that, someone just offered one in the comments! :O

It’s not great. But no sports bike is.

Thanks for the tip
Random question!
I'm 6ft3 you look fairly tall ?
Is the bike a comfortable ride as I'm looking at get one myself.
Im 6ft2 and no.... its too small. Would recomend something if you want comfort. Its a fun bike, just not good for longer trips.
Thanks mate. One of the only times I wish I was shorter 🤣
haha
That is one nippy bike, even sounds good 👌
250cc old engine sound❤❤❤ 250cc now engine sound no good
Yes, true
The better bike is a xz10rr. You won't get tired of it. This bike is ok for a beginner.
That thing would be neck and neck with a E70 X5 diesel 😂😂😂😂
😂
Perez John Johnson Jennifer Walker Betty
Where the hell did you learn to shift gears?? 😂 😂 😂 😂
Time for a clutch
