    Sick bike. Sick video. This is a super cool example of how young kiwi riders gain experience a lot quicker and are a lot safer on the roads than American young riders. Fully geared up, proper bike, proper roads, proper concentration, proper cornering. ride on ma dude

      Thanks man, yeah I'm learning fast and am going on rides with much more experienced riders than me which helps. I can't wait to do some more rides this summer, maybe without the lame commentary so I can just focus on lines and technique. I'll upload one of those rides soon. Cheers!

    While I would die for this little ZXR250R, my baby and one of my most lusted after "little liters" is the MC22 CBR250RR, with a bunch of Tyga goodies(rearsets, exhaust, protection ECT), AS Uotani Full Power ignition, FCR Flatsides, and potentially either a full set of Saitaniya 600rr Carbon or Carbon/Kevlar (probably Kevlar if leaving "unpainted") complete conversion fairings and rear cowl (cyclops version), or their "original" looking full Carbon or Carbon/Kevlar fairings 😅

    OMG dude you just make me miss my little ninja! I was lucky enough to score a 1700km ZX2-R SP (factory race cams and dial on the fly rear shock) with a fresh race replica paint job back in the day. Love to see people riding sensibly on Kiwi roads. Stay safe bro!

      I've rebuilt two other zxr250's now (both will be up for sale soon) so if you've got any specific issues I might be able to help. Also if, by the off chance you're in New Zealand and need replacement parts I have a few bins filled with lots of spare ZXR bits. Just yell out mate =)

      @@imperialginger1590 Oh dude I've came full circle! Back to looking at zx vids and came across this again ;P I'm so close to riding the beast again, new tank, powder coated the wheels, fresh battery, new brake disks (that i recently learned the front ones didn't fit properly and need another set), brakes cleaned and bled with new fittings and pads. Last few steps are on the horizon as soon as the lockdown restrictions for this virus give us a bit of slack.
      To actually answer your reply, thanks for the offer! I'm actually in aus so it's a little harder to have a poke at your parts bins ;) but i could definitely use an opinion with a particular problem. I may not be describing the issues accurately, its been years since i rode the bike but when i did, it had a pretty distinct shortcoming of cutting out all power mid ride seemingly at random and can't seem to start again so i narrowed it down to 2 things which i haven't had the means to check myself. It could either be A) an electrical problem, reg/rec or stator. Which i find unlikely because even trying to roll start doesn't work, but what do i know. Or B) Carb problems, carb bowl's not filling? Vacuum leak? Bad fuel clogging the jets? I really couldn't say, but the last step after getting some more front brake disks is cleaning the carbs anyway so i will really have to see if the problem persists on a few half hour plus rides before i know for sure. Which would you find more likely?

    • @imperialginger1590
      @imperialginger1590  4 роки тому

      @@taxa1569 Good to hear you're almost there mate! In terms of the cutting out issue either could be possible. In my experience electrical issues on these bikes can be more unpredictable than fuelling, but clean the carbs first anyway cause that's always a good thing to do and will eliminate that.
      After a hard thrash one day I started having issues where the bike began cutting out a few weeks later. Was clear the bike wasn't being charged, turns out I had blown the rectifier.
      But yeah, eliminate fuel as the problem first and whilst the carbs are off I'd have a look at all the critical wires and see if any have had the plastic shielding burnt away and could be shorting out. That sure as hell would make for an unpredictable problem!
      Good luck man, hope she's on the road screaming soon!

    • @imperialginger1590
      @imperialginger1590  5 років тому +2

      Essentially the same bike from what I hear. For some reason the honda's seem to hold their value a little better but as a result usually cost a little more than a zxr250 to get. Either would be a good choice, just try and get one which has been somewhat well kept. Out of the 4 Japanese 250cc, 4cyl sports bikes of this era I would say that the Honda and the Kawasaki are the best, the Yamaha and the Suzuki never really seemed to have the same popularity.

    Its an amazing ride, isnt it. Love the esthetics and sound of it. And coming from a gsx600f its much more fun in the corners! I have an -89 A. Mines not running atm after I did a carb rebuild :C Hard to tune the carbs to run well. It starts fairly easily and runs ok but has a bad idle and if i kill it its almost impossible to restart again. Saw you wrote youve rebuilt two of these. Do you have a similar experience with carb tuning? Any tips? Im at 2fiftycc forums and there're a great group of helpful riders there too.

    • @imperialginger1590
      @imperialginger1590  4 роки тому

      Shame to hear it's not running right! I had the hard to restart issue with this exact bike in the video from what I recall. I think I changed the spark plugs and that helped fix the restarting issue. Mine however was idling well. So it sounds like you do maybe have a fueling issue as well.
      I'd let it idle for a bit and then check the colour of the plugs, should give an insight into if any cylinders aren't getting the correct amount of fuel. Apart from that there could be crap blocking some of the idle circuit passages (there's a separate idle and main circuit). How many turns did you put on the idle mixture screws?

    Greetings mate from Philippines 🇵🇭, I'm having problem with compression, I only got 26 psi on cylinder 1, 70 psi on cylinder 2, and 68 psi on cylinders 3 and 4. What psi is within the spec? Model A repair manual is really tricky to find.

    • @imperialginger1590
      @imperialginger1590  4 роки тому

      Hey, I wouldn't worry too much about the values of the other three but cylinder 1 is an issue. My guess is it's probably the valves in that cylinder causing leakage. You might have to take the cylinder head off and take a look. Also I mainly use the model C manual anyway, it's mostly the same.

    • @lesterevio
      @lesterevio 4 роки тому

      Imperial Ginger Thanks! I already figured it out. I put 1 tablespoon of engine oil in the cylinders, it's the piston rings that causes compression loss. It idled for 4 minutes and it stalled again. You got Facebook? Let me add you on my friends list :)
