2021 TX300i Hard Enduro Build [& First Ride]

- A review of some basic mods to make this bike ready for hard enduro (plus some extras), then I take it for its first ride on some gnarly single track. #truenorthmotos #tx300i #2021
Update: I do NOT recommend the Fischmoto spark arrestor for TPI bikes. It made the bike run like crap. I’ve since gone with the FMF Turbinecore 2.1, which has been great.
Very smooth riding! Love hearing the in depth review of each modification
At 5:50, I couldn't believe you climbed up that seated like that. Crazy grip!
Well I am your 800th subscriber boo yeah nice video keep em coming
Woohoo thanks for watching!
Super nice bike, tasty build. Love those sweet trails!
Sweet trails indeed!
Another 4-stroke convert! Enjoy the new bike!
Heck yes! Wish I would have bought the 300 from the start!
Nice bike and mods! I'm not running a pipe guard either and upgraded to the FMF Gnarly pipe after I mangled the stock one. So far it's holding up pretty well!
Kinda my thought process - pipe guards are 50% of the cost of a new pipe, and they still don't 100% protect from damage.
Great tire combo. In the summer put an M5B on the back. 33S is perfect for wet rocks tho.
Great video! Ironically I just bought the exact same tire combo for my ‘04 450 MXC, hoping the combo does well in the woods… my Motoz desert HTs were great in high desert but they are not a good tire for roots lol
Love the smooth running and low end grunt! This trail is a little more rough and slow than I care for but this bike is up for it. It probably really flies out on the roads?
Interesting that you've got the ktm headlight mask on, didn't even notice. Blends in well.
I’ve always thought the Husky mask looked goofy!
But I thought the tx didn't have a wiring harness?
I put the Bullet Proof Rad gaurds on my 250XC, the forks dont touch even with the stop bolts removed
Great videos. Wondering if you are going to mention the grip heaters and the different grips. I run grip heaters only bikes but I haven't put them on my 18 TX yet. Would like to see how you wired them and what throttle tube you use. Thanks for sharing. 👍
I run regular Tusk grip heaters. To get them to work with lock-on grips, you need to scrape off the grips from the lock on tubes. Then you can install repeaters, and then you install regular grips over the top. I have them wired to an accessory switched power source using a motominded adapter.
Love the build! Did you stick with the stock flywheel and battery?
Yes, TX has the same stator & battery as the TE.
Killer tire combo. You got to try the HDB handguards...-TigerTanker Nice bike...and is that Garth in your opener scene??
Yes it is him!
Very nice setup! After you added the TNM kit, how did you register it with WA DMV?
Had my dealer do the paperwork and submit it to the DOL. then they send back a license plate and a new title that is branded for “on road use”
I’ve got the same bike and it runs fantastic. Question for you. Has the header on your pipe turned gold? Mine has at 5 hours. The way the bike runs, the spark plug color, the look of the piston through the exhaust port, and the coolant temps all indicate fueling is safe - maybe even a touch rich. Not sure if I should be concerned about the gold header color, or if it’s normal. Thanks.
No, mine doesn't seem to be turning colors, other than the grime that gets built up on the hottest part of the pipe that is a #@$% to clean!
How do you like the tx over the te for enduro riding? Might pickup a tx this weekend
I like the TX personally for 3 reasons:
1- the gearing is better (1st is actually useable, no big gap to 2nd),
2 - the AER forks IMO are better and more versatile, and
3 - it's 12 pounds lighter than the TE.
Both bikes can do harder enduro stuff just fine, and I love my TX for that kind of riding - I've never wished I had a TE instead. Now the '23 TX sounds like it's a little more hard-edged than the TPI version, but I'm sure it's good as well.
Recommendation: try the ktm power parts plastic hand guards that tie into the master cylinder and use stock flags. I'll never go back to cycra/fasteway/acerbis.
Those look good, but won’t work with the Clake clutch
Question on the FAN does it have a set temperature it is set to come on? Love that bike!
Yes the fan has an adjustable thermostat switch - currently set to come on at 190, seems to work well.
Hi! Nice bike! Where is the map selector switch? Did you remove it?
Beautiful bike. Why did you choose tx vs the Te?
See here: ua-cam.com/video/tbxbqUD5mqo/v-deo.html - Basically gearing, suspension, weight.
Good video, which color power valve spring do you use for tight trail work like that?
Stock
Do you have the headlight connected directly to the battery, wuth an on/off switch? I heard the 2021 does not come with the wiring harness for lights
I’m using a full relayed harness from True North Motos
Hey! How did you get the light to work? Is it good for night riding?
I used a plug and play harness from True North Motos. The light is fantastic, excellent for night riding
Can you post links for the street legal lighting parts please
Truenorthmotos.com has everything you need
Nice machine. How difficult was the Clake installation?
Pretty easy. Bleeding wasn’t hard at all, just takes a little time.
I am very close to selling my 450L fully upgraded everything and get this. Although I live in Southern California and I do not get to ride the terrain you do. Very Envious
Dont be, im in the midwest, just left socal.. and i miss the riding out there, you are extremely close to some of the best enduro single tracks
What is that black ball looking thing on the left aide of the handle bars?
RAM mount for a Double Take Mirror
I'm an older casual rider, nothing technical or racing for me. I could get a used 450 for half the price, but i could afford the Husky. What Should I get?
For trail riding, I'd avoid a 450 at all costs. They're generally pretty difficult to ride on trails. The TE300i would be a good option, as would a number of other less-racy bikes.
Would love to have this street legal.
Sweet bike. 👍
How many miles do you get out of your fuel tank?!
I haven't had the chance to ride more than 35mi on a tank yet, so I'm curious as well!
@@WASemiHardEnduro but with 35 miles is it empty or close too? I just bought a 21 TX300I and I feel like I go threw gas like it’s water. And I’m not riding it hard or for a long period of time
I remember it being lower than I expected... mine seems to also use fuel faster than I would prefer. I'd love to be able to count on 60+mi per tank, but I'm not sure if it'll do it yet.
What phone mount are you using? Thanks!
Motominded Stout Mount and a Perfect Squeeze from Hondo Garage
How did you wire up your KTM headlight
I used a harness from TrueNorthMotos - plug'n'play!
can you name the front turn signals again?
True North Motos sells them
So why TX over TE?
Suspension, gearing, and weight.
Hey 9 hey what is the tool kid that you have in your front fender can you send me the link please thank you
No toolkit, just straps from Trailbound.co
Any idea on top speed?
I've hit 65mph on my GPS on pavement, but didn't want to push it harder.
WA Semi-Hard Enduro my stock yz250 will do nearly 70. That's a 5 speed. I wanted a wr transmission so cruising speeds of 50-60 wouldn't be hard on the bike. But i dont like the modified wr gearboxes where they take a motocross transmission and create weird spacing. So i guess i was hoping this one would hit 75
Per Gearing Commander, the TX will do 80+. I just haven’t gone that fast.
Have you done any engine mods?
None so far. I installed the Slavens idle screw, but nothing else that would affect performance.
WA Semi-Hard Enduro I have a 18 te300 absolutely the best woods bike I’ve ever owned.
You are definitly not shy at spending money on your bike, 400 dollar clutch lever 😬
Meh, it's only ~3.5% of the cost of the bike :)
