“Almost didn’t make it out!” [Hard Enduro ride in Pacific Northwest rainforest]
I thought, given the name, he would be American. Size 43 boots? That's size 10 US.
Awesome video! Still wondering why so little company’s make a 120 gummy?
IRC is making 120 and 140 versions of their JX8 and VE33S now! Super excited to try them.
looks like the most unreliable 2-stroke ever made. Yamaha YZ250 for life.
🤣
I shredded the outside knobs clear off the front of 3 v30’s in a row.
On my 4th vx30. Haven’t shed a single knob yet.
@ sweet stick with it I’m still back in the stock six days got an x31 to try and some tusk I haven’t had.
Oh shit. Barnes? We should ride together out at Walker this winter in the suck. I was looking to see if I really needed the ERM for my 25 xcw and came across your channel. Also, you're right about the VE33s. Crazy life and works in almost everything. Ever consider going back road racing?
Hey for sure let’s meet up. I do think the ERM is a must-do, but some bikes run a little better than others. Once I went dirt I never really thought about going back to street/track. Dirt is so much more accessible.
@@WASemiHardEnduro 100%. One race round on the Road is a season of cost offroad racing... unless you want to come down to Mexico for some Rally with us. Then it's worse. But better. I'll DM you for contact info.
Geez , haha the innovation 😢
Gekkota.
I have question how do you feel your rear brake with boots for example for me i can hold balance point with shoes because i can feel the rear brake but when i put on my boots i cant feel my rear brake and i can't properly move my foot
I thought that when I first tried tried moto boots, but you quickly get used to them. It helps to get good quality boots with stitched soles like Sidi or Gaerne. Avoid the molded plastic soles like A* or other cheap boots. Also never ride with shoes. Just always use boots and you’ll get used to it.
@WASemiHardEnduro ok I will try that but I also have another question for your brake pedal position for example for me I can use rear brake when standing up but can't when sitting down because my foot naturally goes forward how do you deal with this problem and also I know you can lower your brake pedal but then you can't reach it when standing up
Is this at WV? Looks kind of like the TC trail
@WA semi-hard enduro Wow great video! Thanks so much for the great comparisons! I'm surprised you're running at 2 psi, I've never dared go that low with my tubliss.(tested about 5 psi) Have you ever tested the standard IRC ve33 (not S)? I'm looking to mount a 100 tire for driving in similar conditions (wet roots and wet terrain in the Alps).
I have not run the non-S version of the VE33, but a friend has. He definitely struggled a bit more on wet roots and rocks with that tire, but it had good longevity.
@WASemiHardEnduro thank you, so the ve33 will be on my wish list 🙏🏻👌🏻
@WASemiHardEnduro I've seen some of your videos, you've got some great riding skills. It's inspiring, and I definitely need to test the 2 psi. Many of my trails are similar to yours with steep slopes with wet roots and some stones at low speeds.
Great explanations and tips. What's that clutch lever setup you have?
Clake “One Light Clutch”
Appreciate ya sir! Got a te300i and need a new rear. But I live in the blue ridge mountains of NC and it’s a lot of rock but the woods can be real soft in areas. Can’t decide.
Can’t go wrong with the VE33S, but I’m also liking the Plews Spec-B. It has taller knobs than typical FIM tires so it does well in the soft stuff, but still has the larger carcass, so it does great in the rocks.
That Michelin tires is only 120 bucks
Not for the Xtrem it’s not.
silly question but where did you get the gray plastics? was the husq logo embedded or is it a decal?
RMATV for the plastics and the graphics kit was from factory effex
@@WASemiHardEnduro given that RMATVMC doesn't have the 21 TX300i as a selectable bike, did you pick a different bike that has interchangeable plastics? I'm not sure which years are interchangeable, given all the minor updates that have happened in the pre TBI gens
@@ModularMuscle All husky bikes 2020 - 2022 are the same for plastics. TE/TC/TX/FE/FX/FC all same.
@@WASemiHardEnduro thanks!
How would you compare the TE300 vs TX300i TPI, regarding throttle response (bottom end, midrange), gearing (does the wide ratio stop you from riding a gear high as one would normally do with the TX/XC ratio) and suspension (especially for slow to med speed chunk)?
I had the 21 TX300i (TPI) and now the 24 TE300 (TBI). They are more similar than they are different. The new unified gear ratios are actually quite good, and I don’t miss the old TX/XC gearing. The old XCW gearing I didn’t like though - too gappy. Bottom end and midrange are pretty similar, really. The TBI has better stall resistance, but runs pretty rich stock. Suspension is definitely better on the new bikes. But I had my 21’s suspension set pretty soft and despite being an AER from it actually felt pretty good. New CC fork is quite a bit better though.
Is that tuner going to run your battery down
No it turns off after a few seconds.
I had the shinko 216 chubby on my KTM 530 and it's the worst front tire I've used. I couldn't get predictable grip anywhere on that thing.
I’ve used the VE 33s for the last two yrs, don’t ever plan on changing….i run the mx33 on the front it does ok but i think there has to be a lil better all rounder front tire out there ???
I personally really like the VX30 front.
Great job, I’d love to see a front tire review from ya
Check my channel - I did a front tire review prior to this vid.
Cold start knob lol that’s a choke where I’m from
Except it’s not a choke, it’s actually an air bypass. 😉
@ where is the choke?
What pressure do you run in the VX30 front?
I run a mousse
Thanks a great video with step-by-step explanations.
where do you have the battery bank when in use?
In a jacket pocket or in my backpack.
Hey man what trail are you riding with all the creek crossings I ride in the area a lot but have never found this trail
Do you think the jx8 or golden has a “stickier” compound?
Been a while since I tried the GT. I think they were very similar.
mitas super soft
Tried the EX MH double green and really didn’t care for it. The EF might be better, but it sounds pretty similar to the Mich Xtrem.
Really liked how you explained this
Hey man who goes 1st throttle or letting clutch go
Throttle first, then clutch. iRC Tire Guy has great vids explaining this too.
I would avoid Nice CNC. They sent me some crappy parts then ghosted the shit out of me. Refused to reply to eBay messages, emails, or an inquiry sent through their website.
what are you using for heated grips?
Koso - they make lock-on grips that are the best.
Nice one 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🇨🇦
You left out one of the best tires on the market. Kenda IBEX.
Yeah some people seem to like it, but everyone I’ve talked to in the PNW hasn’t had great experiences with it. Other tires on the market grip just as well, but don’t shred knobs and last longer than the Ibex.
Hi, I'm considering the M5B for a trail bike, I am gonna use it on a trip, it's gonna be like 1250 miles (25% off-road and 75% mountain roads), and late on the same trip it's 900 miles on the sand and dry dirt roads, what do you think? To crazy? The bike is 150 kg and the bags, equipment, and pilot are about 120 kg = 220kg.
I think you’re gunna need a new tire halfway through! I know people that have run the M5B on Baja trips with great results, but it’s at the end of its usable life by the end. And that’s less than 1250 miles.
Would u buy the gt216aa front chubby again? I had m59, x31 and want to try the golden tire
Honestly no, it’s too hard of a compound for the slick roots around here.
@@WASemiHardEnduro so went back to Bridgestone for wet riding
My bike is identical to yours. It won’t start all of sudden. Ran perfectly last ride. It’s blinking 4 long -2 short . You ever have that problem? I looked for spark and didn’t see any (but I’m no mechanic).
4 long 2 short is an oil pump issue. Never had that personally, but oil plump is where to start.
Yup . That’s what manual says. Just can’t understand why I’m not seeing spark over oul pump issue. Thanks
What gearing did you go with? Is the bikes Top speed 65 ? I have a 2023 Te 300 that im going to set up for Dual Purpose and appreciate your video’
Stock gearing. Too speed is higher than 65 but it sure didn’t feel like it liked going that fast sustained.
@@WASemiHardEnduro yes ‘ thats what im afraid of’. I would think if im holding it at 60 constantly it would be like taking a Torch to the Piston!
i just got the medium head and ERM module. i got my motard setup and custom map i made for summer(very safe fueling). And dirt wheels, gearing and the downloadable Graham Jarvis map for out bush in Vic in winter. I already know after riding it in both maps on motards its going to have heaps smoother bottom end power, similar mid range power to stock, but then another bunch of power up top. And i have the option to soften the maps a bit more if its to punchy. i bought the ERM module coz im a nerd but you really do not need it if u just want a great running bike with a soft and hard enduro map then just pay some postage and not 600AUD for something u wont really need after it tuned
What's that clutch lever?
Clake One Light Clutch
What tail light are you running on the bike?
Acerbis XLED
If it doesn't grip in soft terrain you're going to spin and create ruts, so the idea it is better for the environment is out.
What trail system is this. That’s some good looking woods
nice trails!!! I won’t mind traveling for those trails.. what is the device with blinking lights on the right side of the chassis?
That’s the JD Tuner which I have now removed.
525 is my go to.
I like Bridgestone extreme enduro
Always fun to find old trails/free ride! Wish we had more places around here for it.
No m59 love?
The great door of back and beyond to infinity is one of my favorites!
How did you mount your tusk fan controller? I hate how there’s no mount!
Small metal bracket from Home Depot!
Thanks for the feedback, we genuinely appreciate everyone who supports our company and places their trust in us when choosing to buy our products. Those trails are exactly what we had in mind when developing this tyre, beautiful terrain. Keep up the good work 🎉
