I remember in the early 80’s with all the discussion of women being in the work force.
I thought, “wow, they’re really going to be disappointed when they find out how sh!tty most of us get treated.”

I was a Global Director in a well known European company. 16 hour days, 100k+ internationally, 50k+ domestically a year. It is a brutal life style, you give up so much else. Did it for 12 years and at 54, I was toast, completely drained. Very few people can handle this long term, most drop out in their 40's. I took a lower position, wife didn't like the hit to the lifestyle. After 25 years, and starting the divorce process. Saw this coming a mile away, just to tired to fight for it.

What women fundamentally don’t understand about being a ‘boss’ is that it comes at a great cost and sacrifice and that those men that do reach the pinnacle do it not necessarily for fake or money, but to become providers and the best possible partners for their wives and families. Women have the tendency to have tunnel vision on the CEO and ignore the other 500 men that didn’t make the cut that lost everything in the process of trying to become the Top Dog. I’m an Intensivist, which means I’m an ICU doctor and at the age of 32. Women flock to me all the time now, but I stick with my fiancé because she picked me when I was 26 and still struggling in medical school and now she also gets to reap the benefits of my success. But to get to where I’m at: I had to beat out 499 other people in high school to get into a great pre med program in college, beat out another 200 other people in college in that program to get into medical school, beat out 200 other people in medical school to get into residency, and another 100 people to get into fellowship. I worked 80+ hours a week for over a decade of my life and was so stressed that I was growing greys in my beard in my early 20’s. The women physicians I work with that are also at the end of that 10+ year journey with me always complain now “I don’t get it, I got more attention from men when I was a 23 year old first year medical student compared to being a 33 year old attending physician, meanwhile you’ve GROWN in the options you have!” When I point out that what men are attracted to is different from what women are attracted to, they’ve all accused me of being sexist, save for one, who quietly agreed. She also happens to be the only one who focused on getting married and having kids first. Ladies, you’ve got your whole lives to focus on your careers, you’ve only got so much time before you can’t have children anymore. Choose wisely

At least 1/5th of women (and rising) don't want to have children ever. Studies show that single women are happier, live longer and have more leisure and free time than married moms so for the 1/5th of women (and growing) they are much better off

First, props to you for your accomplishments. I'm not a doctor, but I've been told how intense and demanding the profession is to get into/be in.
For a lot of these women, I think it's ego: a lot of these hyper intense career women types like the idea that they can beat men at their own game and become very successful. Then, they like to think that they can snap their fingers to become a wife and mother whenever they want.

What I want to know is: if feminist attitudes and behaviors are genuinely self-destructive, why do so many women fall for this trap? Clearly, there's something missing from the alternative perspective - if our understanding were truly complete, one would expect it to outcompete an actively harmful one.

Feminism said that women should no longer be traditional, they should be sexually liberated, and independent. This is great news because it also means that I do not have to be traditional as well, I don’t have to commit ( I can allow her to believe that I would eventually commit) or invest anything other than a few dates and getaway trips. And when she eventually gets fed up ( they always do, they always want commitment ) I can easily move on to the next woman and repeat the cycle.

The fundamental problem with feminism is that it actively tries to ignore and dismiss men's interests in the game. From the game theory point of view, you can't have a successful game when one party not just ignores but actively dismisses the other party's interest. This would be a game that no man would be eager to play in the long run, and we see that folding. There's this girl I'm dating and every little argument/disagreement we've had is because she often thinks in the less possible scenarios as base to argue. I even said once this phrase I heard about "exception doesn't make the rule" and she simply said something like "...and what if they do?" They're always thinking on the "what ifs" and I think is beautiful how this should push men to be the centered one and the one who based on abilities + experience is capable of overcoming the challenges in front. Not that a woman can't solve situations but I'm talking about the natural and primal balance between men and women.

Great channel, so glad I found this. Tons of helpful advice. One point I want to counter however, since I’ve heard it in a couple different videos here now, is that women should pursue the family route while young, and then the career route while older. I think that’s harder than it sounds, because once there’s a few small children running around, the realities of pursuing and obtaining any kind of power career is much more difficult. I think in the modern world, it requires cooperation between the man and wife, to balance, their collective objectives, which can include raising a family and both of them with the satisfying career path. However, if it’s an every person for themself type of relationship, a successful outcome for both is greatly reduced.

They really underestimate how much the life changes for the woman unlike men, it does a total 180 degrees flip. Men just keep living their life how it was before, for the women, their whole life starts to go around the kid(s). It affects literally everything. Career, personal life, social life. I have a few female friends who actually regretted getting kids first. So in the end, its really about understanding yourself and what you want to get out of life and persue it, theres no wrong answer. The amount of shittiness of the quality of the male treatment of women, who felt "obligated" to stay with the di¿khead, has a history going back for hundreds even thousands of years is indescribable and the generations of subjugation is incomprehensable. The only issue with Orion's advice for women is that in your early twenties you are young, dumb and make bad judgments. Imagine a guy who gets total access to a massive trust fund when he turns 18... most would squander a lot of it (cos when most young people either weren't taught very much about money even the ones that were can easily be lured into flashy items or the false promise of get rich quick 'investments'). Some things you can learn with just theory, but more often we learn through practice. And practice takes time. So most people, in this case women, will need to make some mistakes and/or learn from watching other peoples' mistakes.
Some would say that parents should be involved but a lot of people's parents are divorced, don't understand modern dating or are just bad.
Young women are often easily convinced by false promises of commitment and a lot of them don't even realise how much leverage they can have because a lot of them are insecure and have compared themselves to moviestars, models and instagram. I know I did. And some people just need to work through their baggage. I used to wait hoping that I could convince a guy to like me, or earn his love instead of just moving on. I'm pretty sure I learn't this from my parent's dysfunction because I observed my brothers relationship issues were quite similar.
I myself I wanted to settle down young, have kids and then have a big old career once they all started school but that didn't play out. I had my own issues that I mentioned above but more recently I realised that I couldn't really find guy close to my age at the time who wants to settle down and build a life together (I live in a capital city). I'm now at point where I can move somewhere a bit less liberal where I think I'd find guys who are more like minded.
I don't mean to say Orion's advice is bad; just that a lot of young women may not be in a good position to take that advice.

Example: If my dad or my brother tells me "men are lying pigs and they only want one thing" then we'll all say they are protecting me, but when I myself have repeated this sentiment I'm told I'm bitter and should chose better but am also told to lower my standards.
Example: If my dad or my brother tells me "men are lying pigs and they only want one thing" then we'll all say they are protecting me, but when I myself have repeated this sentiment I'm told I'm bitter and should chose better but am also told to lower my standards, which means I should accept bullshit from guys who are at best going to waste my time are at worst going to cause me harm .
A lot of (not all) the time, It's men who say this cos its to their advantage to do so. When I've seen older women say it about other women giving this kind of advice they are usually the women who basically martyr themselves trying to keep/chase a man that's no good (accepting domestic abuse/ cheating etc) cos they are afraid of the shame of divorce or fear being alone.
My mother wasn't and isn't a good mentor for this, if not for the mass of content Ive consumed online I probably wouldn't have figured things out. All of the childfree women who are labelled as selfish, bitter, ran through etc have given me some of the best advice, not because I want that life but because they talk about what to watch out for and WHY?

One thing you do not recognise is what old fashion feminism has brought to young women - it is the bargaining power in their youth they never had before. If a woman has her youth and fertility as the only barging chip in her hand then it is very little to claim independence when she has marriage and children to take care but the guy gives no space and freedom for the development of her education or career. Nor she has any financial independence to make her basic decisions on her own. A young woman with kids is very vulnerable. We all have only 24 hours in the day and raising kids is a full-time job already. Do you really think that a young woman has more capacity with kids to grow and develop her public interactions? Though women have had the right to vote since the last century's twenties it has not easied the way how women can balance out their wish to have kids and be meaningful out of the house and kitchen as well as influence the public sphere. I recognise that feminism has its shadow side as liberty and independency brought higher standards for women to ask more from men than only provide some financial security (which bad men often abuse as a power to control the woman) and many women are trapped in this highly delusional power woman image where they think that man is not needed at all so they can be the top dogs solely, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. As feminism has given talented women the opportunity to be active and recognised in public, it also brought men closer to their children, giving them the right to be softer and loving towards their family, being more in contact with their feelings without losing their masculinity. And also they do not need to have the full financial responsibility alone and women do not carry all the family matters, kids and care alone. We do not want to get back from that. You agree?

Feminism is the economic, political, financial, & social equality of the sexes. The "Superwoman" "girl boss" trope was a capitalist version of feminism. Promoted through main stream media. But that type of feminism failed women in that it put the onus of changing solely on women rather than on BOTH men and women. So it was incomplete. My grandmother's generation mostly relied on gender roles where women were responsible for domestic labor and childrearing & men for financially providing. Then my mom's generation grew up in the post 70s feminism when women flooded the workforce, and in the advent of birth control and roe v wade. The problem for my mom's generation was that in an effort to "do it all", they found themselves both being domestic/child caretakers AND financial providers. That kind of stress took its toll on them and my generation (& younger) took note. So feminism failed to have men's change keep pace with women's change such that men take on more domestic/childcare responsibilities as women took on more financial responsibility, thus evening out their roles.
As it pertains to the sexual revolution, feminism failed in its execution there too in that once again, change only came from women instead of it coming from BOTH men and women. The feminist goal of reaching gender equality could've meant encouraging both genders to have sex "like women" (being emotionally invested & pickier). And as a picky young woman 20 years ago, I went in that direction which is why I used to "slut shame" men for not being picky enough & deeming them wreckless and irresponsible with their "seed", health, & future, and thus I'd judge him to be a liability and unfit to be my future husband and father of my kids. But the sexual revolution instead went in a different direction encouraging both genders to have sex "like men" (being less emotionally invested & less picky).
Side note: I know that saying "women sex= emotionally invested & pickier" while "men sex = less emotionally invested & less picky" is a gross oversimplification, I was 19 at the time and I quickly saw how unfair & judgmental I was being towards men. I've now settled on the opinion that a person's promiscuity is not my business unless it results in harm such as:
    1) wrecklessly causing an unwanted pregnancy;
    2) wrecklessly spreading STIs;
    3) wrecklessly causing emotional harm (i.e. cheating, sex related manipulation, etc)
And this applies to both men and women.

As for encouraging women to settle down in their 20s (currently average age of 1st marriage for women is about 29), I don't know about that advice. If women are expected to "vet better" then on average she's going to have to be given the time for her brain to approach full development so that she has the discernment & maturity to actually choose better & handle the bumps in a marriage. I say this considering that one of the biggest predictors for divorce is the young age of marriage. Instead of encouraging women to first pursue dating over career, I'd say to do both while in their 20s. Figure out what you want, then date and have your career simultaneously. I say this considering that increasingly, cross class unions are down trending while same class marriage is uptrending. Probably because as women reach various & higher career levels, they get access & exposure to more types of men (including more desirable men).

I wish that women actually understood what men desire from them. Most men, especially today, know what women want from men. We do our research. But women don't seem to be as interested in learning about what men want from them. It's more like they try to tell men what they *should* want from women. It doesn't work that way. A lot of women don't start asking that question (what kind of women do men want) until it's already too late. When that happens, then both women *and* men lose. Now today, it's so bad that a large percentage of men have just checked out of society. They don't have jobs, aren't looking for jobs. It's the opportunity to get married and have a family that motivated most men throughout history. Take that away, and men just become extremely apathetic. We are in for some serious dark times here. Most women just want a well-paying job and aren't concerned about being the boss, just like most men aren't the boss. The number one field that women go into is the healthcare field.
Most women aren't going to marry and have kids before they can provide for themselves. There were generations of women who did that. They couldn't leave abusive husbands once there were kids to support. Not only did they suffer, but so did their kids.
You're failing to appreciate the risk women take to marry and have children if there's no safety net in terms of being able to be self-supporting if necessary. It puts women at the mercy of their husbands and women KNOW this.
It's a lot harder to get an education after children have arrived, and even more so if you're trying to shield yourself/your children from a negative or dangerous home environment.

Especially in your ideal scenario when a woman is having children in her most fertile years, early 20s, aka with little to no life experience, not fully developed brain and just stepping into adulthood. While her husband is should be an established person financially, with men's supposed prime being his late 30s and up. It's just a recipe to get oneself into a dangerous relationship dynamic where one party has all the power and the other has none.

There are always two sides of the coin , and multiple aspects of reality. In India the trend for majority of women is still ( societal expectations and pressure)- get married early , and get a 'good husband ' - the latter term being ambivalent . Those women who find compatible husbands who can provide financial security, and these women who are happy / satisfied being home makers, are okay. What about those women who do not get compatible partners , nor the financial cushion to lead a decent life ? Also, there will be exceptional cases among women who have the intelligence and the physical capacity and attributes to do very well in careers , to be movers and shakers with the capacity to be wonderful leaders and bring about change. They will be able to do it if they are supported by their parents , husbands, and in-laws in matters pertaining to family and child rearing. Career and family do not have to be binary choices, if women get the co operation and team support. I have seen it in India. It happens in Asia. Why can this not happen in the West ? It is a good practise that helps women - both careerist and home makers ( and their husbands as well ).

If women did not exel at/and invest time , energy , and effort into what they are good at, and passionate about doing ( apart from marrying and raising their children ) - and I repeat these should not be/ need not be binary choices ( i.e. either marriage or career ) - then the world would not have some of the wonderful contributers in the various fields of arts , science, commerce, music , acting, politics, psychology, medicine , in fact every thing. And why deprive women of their choices and right to self actualisation/ self fulfillment. Remember, Maslow 's hierarchy of needs - applies to women as well. And remember the contrast between the victorian period and modern times in terms of women's wonderful achievements outside the home and the hearth. Team work , and support from extended family goes a long way to help everyone. Telling from lived experience. Also , the history of society in modern times includes his story and her story. This is true of not only big shot achievers but also ordinary women

Every time a much older men was hitting on me, I thought: "Why can't he be with someone his own age??" These men who only want to be with women who are much younger are the ones that will trade their wives at 40, the "old product" for one who is 20. I have seen cases of women who were 40 and their husbands left them with three kids for one who was 20.

I glowed up recently and I can't date anyone because when I ask women to hold themselves to the same standard of care, they get mad. I go to the gym 5 times a week for 1.5 hours, get home, do an hour long self care routine before bed, do a stripped down 15 minute self care routine in the morning and I eat healthy... So of course I expect to date a woman that puts in the same effort.
A man can't get infatuated by an ugly woman and I need to a gal be pretty enough to infatuate me so I can romanticize her and myself.

Companies want people in their 20s because new grads have no responsibilities and need the money thus will be exploited for working longer hours. those that keep working til their 30s are the ones that get promoted to being bosses.

Honestly, I find it shocking that these 2 men don’t seem to get the intrinsic issue: independent survival. When you came to find out that some of our grandmothers had to chose between getting their heads bashed against the washer machine and eating, you came to realize that you didn’t want to be a slave to a man and wanted to have a profession so if the day came when he did you wrong, you were able to walk out of the door and find a job. Women can be abusive too, But men throughout history have not been in the position in which their survival was in question if they didn’t take physical and or psychological abuse. That’s the position women have been in throughout history. That’s not a position that we have wanted to be in since the 60s. You can call it “boss bitch” or analyze our 20s vs 30s etc, it doesn’t change anything. We want our own and don’t want to be abused to have it.
