Giant red flag: nepotism. When the boss' spouse or family member works in the office. Run far, far away and don't ever accept the job. Especially if they're in an influential position within the company. Nothing good ever comes out of that. Or any form of nepotism really (i.e. cousins, close friends, etc). If an employee has an issue or conflict with spouse/family member, how are they suppose to bring it up to the boss? It's a conflict of interest and an awkward situation to be in. Not to mention, marriage or family tensions can spill over onto the company and negatively impact staff morale.

If I was in a management position or I was an owner of a company. I would have policies in place forbidding people from hiring friends or family, I see it first hand on a daily basis. You have a flaky worker who doesn't pull their weight, doesn't do much if any work. He spends his time talking to everybody or himself. The other workers are on a time schedule trying to meet deadlines. He is slowing down the progress. The guy will be away on a task, taking much longer than usual. The guy still has his job because he is a friend of one of the managers.

How about out of touch upper management?
Even though we are encouraged to speak up if there is a problem there is a pervasive feeling of fear and belittling. For example if you are liked you can get away with certain things while everyone else has to watch their own behind. Watch out for the slick managers that watch the cameras and try to get you in trouble.

I´ve had to quit jobs where I had to leave for my own well being, and even physical safety. In the 90s I had an idiot for an assistant manager at Farm Fresh in Virginia. After I gave notice, and finished my last day at work, she called me to tell me I´m fired!

I’m a protected class, female, over 45 + ADA & ended up on FMLA for a few weeks because of a work injury & ended up on the receiving end of retaliation. (I learned these terms from a lawyer when I went to ask if the harassment is legal.) Apparently I made the ultimate error: spoke up about the retaliation. Now I’m really being targeted. I’m not even remotely interested in suing the company, although I’m told I have a case, I just want the company to just treat me respectfully. That’s all I want. I want my job, otherwise I’d never have applied for it. I just want to be treated respectfully. THAT IS ALL I WANT. They’ve been targeting me, trying to set me up for failure, harassing the hell out of me, even doctoring stuff and faking my metrics, I just want to do my job like everyone else and not be targeted. I didn’t want to quit; again, I LOVE the job itself, but I don’t see any other choice. It looks terrible to quit any job and looks even worse if you quit under 3 yrs of employment but I don’t know any other way. I wanted to play ball, try to do my best for the company, but the harassment has gotten out of line. Last night my manager was literally near my residence because I saw his wifi show up on the list on my home computer. I was like WTF. This guy is insane, he scheduled me a meeting, put it in my work calendar, then wrote me up for attending it. At 9am he told me to put in a request for time in my calendar to complete an assignment (15 min.) So, I did. Only to look at my schedule at 9:02am and see he had input the time for 8:30-8:45am same day. As in, 30 mins BEFORE he even told me to request the time. 😢 I didn’t pay my ESP or Time Traveler bill so I guess that means I can’t get it done? His response: “You can get it done between calls today.” Then he cranked up my call volume so calls were back to back, not even 1 second in between. And I got written up again for not completing said assignment. That’s just 1 example of about 3-5 things that occur daily. I’ve asked HR for advice (big mistake) was told to call their internal complaint hotline run by the management who are doing this stuff to me. So that sucks. Prior to this job I’d never even heard of leave let alone ever took leave (HR told me to take it when I was hurting) and I’ve NEVER had a problem with ANY job. I’ve only had a few jobs in my life and always for years on end, so I’d never experienced anything like this before. This, though, is insane. It’s sad, I don’t want to quit, but I’m fairly confident they want me to. So I will. Right after Thanksgiving. I’m at least gonna stick it out thru then because I don’t want my teammates to suffer the call overload.

You wanna know a hostile working environment? Talk to some of the security guards that worked for Guardsmark security including myself. The horror stories from survivors like myself that worked for that mismanaged and lawsuit plagued security company I will chill you to your bones.

Work transfers are a result of breaking up toxic employees. Of course when I’m happy where I’m at (a store) and I’ll end up going the distance for my commute because they would rather send me than the guy who lives closer because the supervisor doesn’t like that the coworker and the manager are friendly, and the supervisor had a falling out with the manager. So I get docked around because of petty shit. I travel further to work than most people in the company because they live closer to the other stores

My leader is a very toxic person . Always shouts and drama addicted old woman , she keeps threatening me that the company would fire me , if the sale’s doesn’t goes up . She wants me to be faster even though I haven’t had time to take my 2nd break at all .
They never said anything about this when they hired me .
Now I’m working my 3 shift and have to pay the union $250 as well .
I’m earning minimum wage in a grocery store .
This woman has been working for the company 18 years and most of the managers and coworkers are from the same race , they ‘re like buddies .
    What should i do ?
Much appreciated if you could help . 😢🙏
The reason I don’t quit is because i love this job position. Everyone is nice , exect this one i have to work with everyday.

This is posted on Yelp and Google reviews.
I am writing to express my deep concern about the workplace harassment that I experienced while working at Florida Custom Marble (FCM). The incidents that I endured over the past 18 months were deeply distressing, and I strongly believe that they were rooted in ethnic and cultural biases.
Throughout my time at FCM, I repeatedly endured verbal abuse from one coworker in the form of ethnic slurs and aggressive behavior. Yelling and shouting matches between coworkers were a common occurrence, which created a hostile and stressful working environment. The situation reached its peak when one coworker threatened me with gun violence, which was both unnerving and unprofessional.
The final incident occurred when I walked into the conference room and expressed surprise that some individuals were present because I thought they would be at a NEFBA skeet shooting event. One coworker then stated that he would rather shoot me, which I found to be a deeply troubling and unsettling remark. I reported the incident to my manager, hoping that action would be taken to address this serious issue.
However, despite my complaints, my manager only offered me two options: accept an apology or work remotely, which only accommodated the aggressor. This left me with no choice but to resign as the harassment had become intolerable.
During my final day, HR met me, and there was no exit interview or separation documentation provided. When I stated that I was leaving due to a hostile workplace environment, I was scoffed at, which only added to the sense of disrespect that I had experienced while working at this company. I expected a higher level of professionalism, and this lack of response was extremely disappointing.
Furthermore, I was shocked to learn that when a former associate tried to visit me at the workplace (after my departure), he was told that I was not available and had to leave immediately. He was quickly escorted to the door, which was locked behind him. This is extremely disconcerting and raises questions about the company's culture. The correct response is to say he is no longer with us, can anybody else help you?
On a side note, I was able to call the Veterans Administration hotline to receive some counseling to help me work through this chapter in my life.

I was called the "N" word in orientation by someone in hr. Then the lady pretty much cried her way out of accountability saying she knew it was wrong AFTER she said it. Now the company is asking what would be a win/win for this situation? Idk what to think at this point

My boss kept on asking me if I liked another co-worker and eventually broke that co-worker and me apart, she even asked to see a picture of my girlfriend through text message, I asked her to stop as I was feeling extremely uncomfortable I sent numerous complaints to HR asking to please separate us, they then started writing me up after I filed a harassment complaint, saying I was ineligible to transfer to a different department because of my write-ups. they then terminated me for my beard. without giving any warning. Would this count?

Take note how your trainer acts. You will get one of three people:
    1. The legit one who is professional and knowledgeable of the job. These are rare.
    2. The person that's about to get fired and reaining the replacement.
    3. The boss's pet.
If you are tou getting vibes that the trainer is 2 or 3, GTFO.
