- This collection of graphics were used by NBC for NBA telecasts during the 1991-1992 season. This was sourced from a tape used in the remote truck, which I then archived on S-VHS.
Music is "Roundball Rock" which was composed for one-time "Entertainment Tonight" anchor John Tesh. You can see him performing it live here: • The Untold Story Behin...
This is GLORIOUS. Thank you! That energetic John Tesh theme paired with those flashy 3D graphics were STELLAR in 1992! I was never much of a sports fan but I have this recorded on VHS numerous times just so that I could one day look back on it and smile- but you've gone the whole 9 yards! You don't know how happy this makes someone like me! You're the BEST!
Oh, the days when Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls were dominating the NBA Finals with 6 titles in the 1990s. Oh, the childhood memories.
You're hard pressed to find any better quality of the original laser peacock fanfare leading into Roundball Rock. This is amazing and I hope we hear this in 2025...
I miss my 90s childhood. Watching the NBA on NBC meant watching Michael Jordan and the voice of Marv Albert.
Returning in 2025.
The best part of the "NBA on NBC" intro has always been the very beginning when the lasers form the NBC peacock and the music dramatically builds up to "Roundball Rock".
This was Larry Bird's final season as a Boston Celtics for 13 seasons....
The musical theme is called 'Roundball Rock' and is composed by John Tesh.
the spectacular move by Michael Jordan.
Thank you for this. This belongs in a television museum alongside Jim Fagan's iconic "This... is the NBA on NBC!"
Officially back in 2025-26. Hopefully they use this version of Roundball Rock.
I will always love the NBA on NBC because it gave us the theory and it made us have our hoop dreams. NBA and NBC will likely to be reunited in 2025 when their current deal is done because they want better broadcasting.
'Roundball Rock' by John Tesh & 'Sirius' by Alan Parsons Project were THE 2-song NBA soundtrack in the 90s. Tesh helped to glide you in to an afternoon of basketball, and Parsons Project reminded you that Michael Jordan was going to be the M.C. for the day. =)

You're the real MVP for having the foresight to archive this stuff- it's a shame that the source material was either destroyed or is locked up somewhere to rot. Beautiful quality as always, it really shines given that the source was directly from the source and not over the air.
You knew shit was going down when this intro came on 🤘💥☠️
rest in peace Jim Fagan one of the greats
