I remember my country Poland out od Communism in 1989 and first NBA retransmission in 1990 with NBC intro!!!That was most excating thing we all got-Amazing players,arenas,total incredible in era when was pure poornest on the streets and everywhere-NBA was a greatest thing in TV show for US in those days!NBA is a Passion for life,and this 90 was Awesome,I wish it will be like todays,but its not,NBA its not the same any more
Every time this intro would start in my mind I would be hoping the NBC peacock wouldn't turn too far so that this extended intro would play. I'm sure I wasn't the only person who would do this.
Love that intro! NBC's presentation was so much better than ESPNs though it has gotten better over time. Michael is still the king, though LeBron is making strides. Hopefully NBC buys back the rights now that the league isn't in its early 2000's slump, and reactivates some their superior intros. I'm sure they'll update them, but they can blend the old style with a newer mix.

actually I was born in '86, but that handle was taken... Refs and owners have always decided games and controlled outcomes. I would agree that the quality of the league dipped tremendously in the early '00s, but since 2009, the quality of play has been outstanding. A shame you cant see that.
