Lived through and 80’s and if you miss the 90’s, you’ll definitely yearn for the days of b-ball in back the decade of Showtime, Bird, Magic, Michael, in their prime.
I miss this type of NBA promotion. Nobody did it better than Bob Costas giving his dialogue and promoting the matchup, followed by John Tesh's Roundball Rock theme.
Tonight Michael Jordan plays in what could be his final regular season game and he plays against the New York Knicks an opponent Jordan has tortured overs the years.....Damn that was classic
@@claytonstarrjr9788. Exactly. I'm so glad I was born in the 80s to witness this. Miss my childhood so much. And I remember the games use to come on TNT and TBS too. Wowwwww..... Seems like yesterday. I'm 38 now, and listening to this old intro, made me feel like a little kid all over again wowww
Wow, I still get goosebumps watching this! Just to think, this was just a regular season game. The 90's presentation of the NBA on NBC is the gold standard of sports.
Spihk heart bust!? Spihk heart bust analyze and Discuss with Sarah from the holy Bible and ask aren't Chinese people Chia Coffee!!!??? Then say Zumo's brother's bathroom doorway dad's brother's look alike's brother don't want any connection with Chinese people being Chia Coffee!!!!¡!!!!!¡!!
If that intro doesn't make you want to run through a brick wall, I don't know what it will take to hype you up. That music was EPIC. Just one SWEET video package.
a primetime regular season game on network television (other than christmas) before abc ruined it. You knew a game was big was big if it was in primetime on NBC, especially in the regular season.
ABC also ruined Saturday night college football by having it every week in a Game of the Week format. Fox does a good job of keeping a big match feel though.
This is when I used to watch NBA instead of WWE back when the bulls were an amazing team now no one is amazing when this team died and broke up and separated from each other this dream team is what made me watch the NBA
Wrestling and NBA was 1000 times better back then. Monday Night Wars WCW/WWF and NBA with Jordan, Shaq and Kobe, Malone, Barkley, Miller, Grant Hill, Penny etc
Im glad i got to watch basketball in the 1990's. Bob Costas was amazing at what he did. His intros were epic. His voice was quality. And that theme song afterwards is the best sports broadcasting theme song of all time (Fight me!). This video is just pure gold!
I hope Disney/ABC/ESPN loses the NBA. Even if the new broadcaster doesn't use Roundball Rock, ABC has treated the NBA as "content" instead of an epic matchup of superstars
And John Tesh did have the theme re-recorded. Hopefully it includes: Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-basketball, gimme gimme gimme the ball, because I'm gonna dunk it! WHOO!!!
The great John Tesh and the Roundball Rock with the perfect timing of suspense given by Bob Costas is what helped Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls get so much recognition. Whenever people are brought together who are great, they all need to be recognized!
Remember waking up early in the morning, ready for the triple headers covered in a blanket in front of the TV. Once the commercials were over and I saw the nbc sports clips with fans chanting, I would literally get goosebumps and knew history was gonna be made
Imagine as a kid watching the NBA on NBC intro then right after that watching the Bulls intro 🤯 by the time the game tipped off my adrenaline was at an 11 out of 10 lol
Knicks run from 8 seed to the finals was one of the best/entertaining playoff runs ever imo. West was on a whole different level until Shaq and Rasheed came East.
I miss the good old days when NBC used to broadcast the NBA games...mainly because this theme song kicked ass. Watching it on the alphabet network is just not the same.
I loved the Knicks back then. Yeah, they never got over the hump, but I still loved them. At least they beat the Bulls this game. This theme gives me goosebumps.
OMG 😳 I feel like a kid again hearing and watching this wow all those years of watching my team win those championships I would love to experience that again in my life
This is the Most Epic NBA Intro Ever in History! and it was free on NBA on NBC
That's right and Bob Costas is legend to do this intro.
Why do i have tears in my eyes right now, damn i miss the ninetys
You and me both
Lived through and 80’s and if you miss the 90’s, you’ll definitely yearn for the days of b-ball in back the decade of Showtime, Bird, Magic, Michael, in their prime.
God this is beautiful
So do I.
Tears in my eyes
Damn, just brought tears to my eyes, life was good then. Bulls were on top and close friends and family were still alive then. ❤️
The absolute golden age of NBA basketball.
Bird vs Magic was bigger because they were evenly matched and the franchises had the history factor
This marks the pinnacle of western civilization... everything has been downhill since
The 90s was the peak of absolutely everything.
the very end of it. it had a 15 yr run 1983-1998. wonder if it will ever come back. for kids. won't ever be the same for me, it's been ruined.
@@saunders317 hell no MJ bulls were bigger cuz Jordan made basketball global
NBA on NBC's intros would never EVER be matched. Do TV Channels even make intros anymore?
Presentation is a very underrated aspect of TV and in this era, it's damn near nonexistent when it comes to intros.
your kidding right...Sunday Night Football and Carrie Underwood?
Nah, Just hours and hours of studio show cutaways and pregame shows!
Them were the days
@@jspring9588Again, NBC. They know what they're doing
I miss this type of NBA promotion. Nobody did it better than Bob Costas giving his dialogue and promoting the matchup, followed by John Tesh's Roundball Rock theme.
Don't forget Marv Albert.

charlie davis that was epic intros on nbc I love it 90's
Yeah it was me too
@Jerry Landers the game itself felt like that!!!!
lmfao MJ, Reggie Miller, and James Dolan... the greatest torturers of the Knicks
It was said like it was the finals.
NBC knows how to broadcast basketball.
Facts.
This was the Dick Ebersole era.
NBA on NBC >>> above all else. The intros are something else.
My blood is boiling. The intro on nbc demonstrates essence of basketball
The first 1 minute gives absolute chills.
The commentary, background tunes and everything.
Nostalgia at its finest!❤️🙌
If you heard this theme song back in the 90’s , you had a good childhood
Especially those Sunday afternoon doubleheaders!
Amen brother
Left church early for this intro 😅
Yessir and don't forget about NBA inside stuff

This is so comfy. Imagine being a 11 year old kid in 1998, watching this after dinner and being unaware of reality.
Bob Costas added the perfect amount of drama before a big game.
"THIS is the NBA on NBC!!" Always loved that narrator.
Yes Bob Costas And Marv Albert if you know you know!
Wow, I still get goosebumps watching this! Just to think, this was just a regular season game. The 90's presentation of the NBA on NBC is the gold standard of sports.

I miss the NBA of the 90s. None of the players today have the spirit and personality like Jordan, Shaq, Barkley, or Ewing.
A great era.😢
Curry, Kobe, and Dirk would like a word with you

By far the best epic NBA intro of all time!
The four (4) biggest superstars all at one time.
1) Michael Jordan
2) Dennis Rodman
3) Shaq O' Neal
4) Magic Johnson
@@jeffhall3044 Larry Bird might have something to say about that.
THIS IS THE NBA ON NBC!!!!!
Mike and kobe in the same intro.. that's it for me hands down as the best intro ever
ESPN/ABC has NOTHING on this NBC intro
ESPN and ABC sucks I miss NBA on NBC
Timeless Nostagia, I can never get enough of this classic Intro, I Watch It 24/7, Longlive The NBA on NBC....
Facts 25 years later
That brings back memories make the NBA GREAT AGAIN!!!!! NBA ON NBC
This was the NBA at it's best where teams hated eachother and players wanted to win without forming a Super Team
That's right. No friendships. No love. It was WAR. No gifts.
The end of a beautiful era in the NBA... New York vs. Chicago in '98!
Absolutely true! But at that time we didn't know
It's 2024, and this tune is still in my head.
If that intro doesn't make you want to run through a brick wall, I don't know what it will take to hype you up. That music was EPIC. Just one SWEET video package.
RIP Kobe Bryant 🙏 @1:15
Sad to
Lose INSIDE THE NBA on TNT but glad NBC is back. That’s how you introduce games god damn it
They better bring the intros back
Bob Costas is the man.
@1:01 Bob Costas says the bulls Knicks next and michael points his finger that's basically him saying cue my theme music!!
And it fits.
PRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING. NBC mastered it.
Think about that... The last game of the season was the FREAKIN' GAME OF THE WEEK! God I miss the 90's
When someone young asks why the 90’s was the golden era of the NBA, just explain to them that this was a REGULAR SEASON game.
Yo facts they played them like game 7 playoffs and it was a regular season game
ESP/ABC was stupid not to have made a deal to use Roundball Rock as the theme for NBA coverage on their air. When you hear that song you know it's on.
Back when sports announcing was an art.
come here after the Last Dance documentary... reminiscing childhood when NBA was fun to watch, everyone wants to "be like Mike"
nba on NBC is the best
a primetime regular season game on network television (other than christmas) before abc ruined it. You knew a game was big was big if it was in primetime on NBC, especially in the regular season.

This better come back when they're on NBC next season.
It would start with the 2025-2026 season I believe
This is not just the best NBA theme song its the best sports song for any sport, facts👀🏀🔥
Man, the 98-99 season just wasn't the same. The Knicks/Spurs was prob the worst finals ever. 99-00 was waay better but nothin compares to 96-98
I think the 2002 Finals was way worse. I think 99 was bad because that season was so damn short.
Knicks run from 8 seed to the finals was one of the best/entertaining playoff runs ever imo. West was on a whole different level until Shaq and Rasheed came East.
Bob Costa is very underrated
NBA is back home on NBC........
1:40 to the end > All current NBA anything
The good old days of nba basketball.
You absolutely did not miss a single Bulls vs Knicks game back in the day....they were just that good....
Chills from head to toe.
The adrenaline that ran through me as Costas talks his shit and clips of Jordan tho... I miss them days yo...
