Can you do a comparison video with Xtool 20W up against the Atomstack 20W? I haven’t been able to find anything comparing the two. Thanks.
I'd like to see the same, especially comparing air assist, focusing and kerf/point characteristics.
god, i love your videos. so informative and engaging. thanks for putting these out there!
Download the test files I use on all my lasers here: pages.makeorbreakshop.com/laser-test-file
Thank you for the test files and great review.
I've been waiting for this review. Thanks!
No problem!
Thanks for the review! I had to laugh when you quoted the power, and yes, it is what atomstack quotes the input power is... But. further on in their spec sheet they say it comes with a 12v 5 Amp power supply.... eye roll.... yes, that is a 60 watt power supply.... so I really don't know where they get 130W from.... Anyway, it is their spec, you are being true to what they give out. On the co2 equivalent, the Epilog 75watt I had use of for a few years, required 240v and required a 15A circuit, so perhaps they should say it was a 3.6 Kilowatt machine.... I must say though, I am pretty impressed by these little laser machines, and they do some stuff better than a co2, just slower
Great video. Love incremental improvements. Progress baby!
Mahalo for sharing! 🙂
Thank you!
Always great reviews... How would you compare this to the xtool D1 Pro 20w? I would be very interested in your answer on this as I am in the market for a laser. Many thanks
Thank you for your sharing, how is the effect of this machine engraving text at high speed? I would like to know. Thanks!
Great video!, just what i was looking for...im thinking of starting a small bussiness with this..but i was wondering of the X10 version is good enough..what do you think?
Really Good Job with the Test File. :)
Great video with a ton of information. I am wondering if this machine or the newest model (Atomstack X30 Pro) can cut 5mm "clean - transparency acrylic"? Any help will be appreciated.
so I've watched a few of your diode laser reviews... which is your favorite, or really which one do you use the most because it just works better? :-) tks
How much power does the laser module draw from the wall outlet?
Great review thank you. Can this cut through 4.5mm oak?
First thank you very much for the great review.I am planning on buying in the future another laser.Right now i have a diode 20watt laser from fox alien. The laser is good for learning how to engrave and do some cutting also even when it is just possible with multiple passes. My question to you is now: What would you recommend to buy next a Co2 laser or most powerful diode laser for creating my own Model kits and maybe sell those in the future.
Super informative, great video. Love it, thanks!
what type and/or color of material should I use for an enclosure for xtool d1. I am meaning a window or maybe full cover enclosure so it will be safe if someone walks in my shop or I forget glasses
Does anyone know if you can use the same extension kit the A5 uses on the X20?
Thank you. You helped me a lot in making my choice
Is that 5mm lite ply or birch ply you're cutting? If it's lite ply, how well does it cut 5mm birch ply? What about 1/8" or 3/16" balsa? I'm a RC aircraft modeler and would like to cut my own kits. Thanks.
Module Max input 24 volt 3,5 A ? so this module will also work with ortur lasermaster 2 pro because its output is also 24volt ?
Would you pick the atomstack 20w over the xtool 20w when it comes to most bang for your buck?
Great video as usual ;) to bad that you didn't measur the size of the laser point as you always do :)
Ok, so the new XTool 20w or the Atomstack 20w? Which is going to give more bang for the buck and which one produces a better quality product?
Your videos are so informative. Really hoping the roving mobile machine becomes more of thing. Imagine unlimited canvas engraving.
Hi, does it cut carbon fiber plates ?
Can this be used to print logo size of 1mm height and width of 5mm ,on metal ,rubber, and plastic
How would you compare this laser vs the Xtool D1 pro 20W? Obviously the Xtool is more expensive, minus the air assist, so is the extra money worth it for Xtool - plus is the rotary better for xtool? thanks
Is Atomstack the brand to go for, quality wise? I am looking into a diode laser for cutting wood but with all these brands around (Ortur, Neje, XTool, ...) it's not easy. Maybe you can do a video just about cutting and just compare quality, cutting speed en cutting quality.... Great work, keep going!!
I have trying all of the links to find the material test file but have not found it. Can you direct me to the file? Thanks
If I will just use for cardboard, do you suggest this Atomstack or ORTUR 3?
How to modify length and width coustom size
100cm *80cm????
For working more than 2 hours do you have any solutions?
Great review thanks, I’m in the uk and looking for my first laser, hoping to go straight in at a 20watt one, really difficult to decide when unable to get hands on so your reviews are of great value
. Does the atomstack have metal rollers etc like the Xtool or is that part of the quality difference between the two?
Also does the 20w head weigh much more than the 10w, just thinking about wear and tear or stability of the head at speed etc?
Probably going to boil down to one of these two for me
Hey, did you decide on the Atomstack x20 or xTool D1?
@@scottc9903 in a word yes but in another word no??
Yes in as much as if I do get one at the moment the atomstack would win based on , value as it’s cheaper and includes air assist, delivery is less waiting for me and from what I’ve heard slightly better customer aftercare although that’s not clear.
No in as much as with either there’s most likely features etc that I would want or need to add such as, air assist with the D1, camera, extraction enclosures, auto focus etc etc. I think it’s easy to get misled when looking at diode lasers and seeing them un-enclosed but with a 20w laser having greater power etc I think an enclosure is essential. When all that’s factored in it’s either cheaper to get a k40 type co2 or a small step up to get something like a 50-60w co2 which would have all that built in and be more powerful. So im now trying to free up some space etc to see if I can fit a permanent machine in rather than a diode laser which is I accept more portable/storable.
I may even just end up with a 10w diode and limit myself to engraving slowly.
Price is a big motivator as well so if prices drop when new lasers come in then that could again change as I’m now prepared to wait for a few more months
No help I’m afraid
Maybe I am blind. Air assist is nice to have. But where comes the power from? Couldn´t find the plug in.
4 laser diodes at 6 W each hmm that seems more like a 24 watt laser to me,, hows that work? Also the cut chart you posted is for the Atomstack X7, do you have one for the X20 or A20 Pro??
Thanks for the review. I am really waiting for the XTool review of their 20w module. I am leaning with the XTool with all the add ones for my start up business. I really like to buy a AP Lazer but the price is a big factor. Thats why I am looking at Diode lasers.
Depending on what your business is gonna make, a diode laser may be too slow for your needs. An 8x12 inch canvas takes me 2-4 hours to burn a photo on. I have an xtool d1 10watt.
@@josh88113 I am preparing opening a Custom woodworking, laser engraving, sublimation printing business. I figured I be laser engraving all sorts of goods. Mostly thinking with the laser looking at engraving flasks, bottles, urns, pet memorial type of stuff. Also like to try do wood and canvas. So try and engrave little bit of everything. Also want to add a fiber laser down the road. I figured I start with the Diode then if I get a good amount of business then I will step up on the laser.
@@paulveenstra6305 that’s good you’re not relying just on the diode laser. It’s sounds like you’ll have other products to work on while the laser works. My diode is a bonus to my leather shop. You can engrave some nice looking stuff on leather with them.
Well done and well said I appreciate you sticking to the facts and keeping things unbiased.
Thanks!
What's the difference between the X20 amd the A20?
It should come with the files and Cut List - to cut your own enclosure. And ONLY output power counts... It is like the old ploy of Digital Zoom. (After 1x it was worthless) and in this case shows how inefficient their machine is. Thanks for the informative video!
Are the Atomstack or Xtool 20W Lasers also usable with a DIY laser engraver? Or doe they have proprietary connectors etc.?
I have a big cnc gantry which i use for plasma cutting and a 20W diode laser would definitely be a great addition to it.
If they are anything like their smaller counterparts, all they take is 12V power and a PWM signal to control intensity, but I can't find any images of this specific module showing how they're wired.
can it be used with Black Walnut?
Help… brand new to any of this. We have been paying a TON to purchase engraving items for our business and hope to get this OR the S10 atomstack. Problem is the PRICE….??
So my questions:
- which one S20 or S10 model is easier to use… (software/mobile options)?
-does settings come in a book or are they posted somewhere? (Seems like x tool models provide this with their machines).
-looking to engrave: Wine glasses, bottles, metal business cards etc…. Assuming rotary tool is purchased with the machine…. Does the 20w REALLY needed?
Any and all help would be appreciated. (My head is swimming right now)
What about pcb copper etching?
Thx, great review! Small question, ehat about the 10mm pliwood cutting clame? Any truth to that?
I'm pretty sure you could but practically it would need a few passes and might take awhile.
Does this have limit switches?
can this make rubber stamps?
I’m interested in an expandable unit? Atomstack?
Neje @10 but any 20 watt
Also, to work without Computer hook up. Suggestion? Thx
have anyone made it work with Piburn 4.0 rotary? Does it use a Ruida controller? Appreciate if any1 had made it work. Thanks
What is the most fine diode engraver ?
I also noticed Ortur/Aufero have just come out with a 10W dual laser module with air assist, do you plan to review that one? By the way, this channel is an invaluable resource for me as I’m interested in getting into lasers and it’s good to see what options there are.
Glad it helps! I'll be reviewing the 10W from Ortur soon.
Excelent. I will be using whit Atomsttack B1 enclouse to get the smoke out of the room. 👍
I recently placed an order for one of these exact units, so I’m pleased to see it seems I made the right decision. Any “gotcha”s in the setup or running that you found? There isn’t a lot of info on this unit around as it’s so new!
No gotcha's, everything worked pretty much out of the box. One thing I forgot to mention is that laser module itself has a fan so it's pretty loud when running. Not to mention the compressor which is louder.
isnt there a 130w now?
Esta maquina graba en chapas de plata?
Printed circuit boards?
Really appreciate all your info… do you think the Atomstack 20W will be better then xTool D1 20W?
I think they will be pretty close to each other.
I have the x20 and I’m new to the game but I’m happy with the product with the enclosure.Hopefully I get a co2 laser.
Can you cut acrylic with it? I'm planning on buyting one to cut face plates for my electronics projects.
Can it cut 6mm glasss in diameter of 200 mm
Can it cut copper alloy
That was a good review
Hi Brandon, currently considering purchasing my first Laser. I'm a little up in the air between the Atomstack X20, and the Xtool DI Pro 20W, any suggestions??
Hey Steve, which did you decide on?
Why are't they just programing the laser to turn on and off for thinner beam details?
Does this do copper?
I asked a question on a FB group about 10W vs 20W and this is the response I received, "The laser beam for the 10W is round and the 20W is square and bigger, that's why you lose detail." Is that a correct statement??
Good review 👍. Can I do a video where u exchange the x7 laser with the 20 watt one and run it or is it just plug and play onto the x7.
Great idea!
Yes, that would be very interesting to see!
Xtool already has their 20W laser out. I'm getting mine on the 22nd. They have been shipping them out for the last month.
Hey Michael, why the xTool over Atomstack?
@@scottc9903 Atomstack has air assist already in it, xtool doesn’t (sold separately)
Great videos! It is that I'm looking for...
Can you engrave a wooden dish plate. I'm a wood turner, and I wanna add something to my projects. But since my plate is not flat I want to engrave from a distance above it like say 2-3 inches or maybe higher! Is that possible?
Yeh, it should work, it would depend on how round the dish is and how big the image you're wanting to engrave. These lasers have a focus area that you would want to stay inside of as it slopes away on the dish. But if the image is fairly small you should be good!
Love to know how this compares to xtools d1 pro 20w. I can't decide what one to get.
Hey, did you decide between x20 and the xTool 20w? Which one?
10:00 they suggest they have a Ultra Fine 50 Watt LASER as well; and may be more...
I'm gonna pick up one of these modules, you have an affiliate link or even a discount for just the m100 module?
If you go through the link in the description it will work once you go over to the module you are looking for.
1120 you cut out something. id really like to know your thoughts about all companies. Thanks
On the test boards the X7 test board is labeled 5mm verses 3mm on the X20, is that just a typo?
Noticed that, too! Hope it was both either 3mm or 5mm ply, or it would be a little misleading. Anyhow, the power is pretty impressive!
Both are 3mm. I messed up in both reviews, it’s labeled wrong on the x7 board and I said it wrong on the x20. Sorry about the confusion!
Does the compressor going through the head just blow the smoke away, or does it also get used to help cool the diode.
Компрессор для того, чтобы сдувать дым. Для охлаждения лазера там установлен вентилятор
@@user-ox4jf7gn6t Thanks for the answer. I wonder why they didn't use the air moving through the system to do double duty seems like it would be more efficient and cheaper to produce, but maybe I'm missing something
@@tannimkyraxx может быть когда-нибудь сделают такой вариант) Будем следить)
Will you be looking at the new Xtool 20w module for the D1??
Yep!
What is the difference between x20, a20 and s20 pro? Only color? But s20 and x20 are silver both
The letter S, X or A is just how Atomstack decipher the channel partner/ distributor so I'm lead to believe... they're just the same
Have you looked at any YoraHome products?
It works very well but. I get a problem whits tbe software. I most looking what happend. He will on x axis one way and go to far to his limets. I have do ik again on a other pc en it works better only whits this setting is the speed not good. In the begining it works very well and the results beter than on a co2 cutter.
how would this work on cutting leather?
+1
Do you think the atomstack x20 pro., would be a good starting point for a small scale laser engraving business. Also what do you think the life of this machine is with daily use? I'm just starting out with laser engraving. That said I don't want to buy something I would need to replace very soon. Money is definitely a factor for me. It looks like laser engraving would definitely enhance my wood working projects. Just not sure what machine to start with. Right now I'm watching videos on different machines which can be confusing to say the least. I'm also taking this time to watch videos on lightsribe, it looks like a very good program for what my needs will be. Thanks in advance.
If you are just looking to engrave check out the lower power x7 or event something like the Ortur Aufero 2, these will be either 5 or 10W and cost several hundred less but still be great for engraving!
Лучшая машина для гравировки это Sculpfun S9 и S10, чёткие линии. Я купил недавно и очень доволен👍 У меня Sculpfun S9, гравирует даже на нержавеющей стали
xtools 20 watt module came out march 2
All over their website it says it can cut .05mm stainless... that's only about .002" of an inch? Do they really mean .5mm stainless?
I should be .002 in, so like shim stock. You would a whole lot more power to cut metal
Comparing diode laser to CO2 laser do you really run the 55 watt CO2 at 55watts or even 40 watts since that will really shorten the life of a very expensive-to-replace laser tube? It seems like most folks are actually running their CO2 lasers at 40% or so output which puts a 20 watt diode much closer to a 55watt CO2.
Mr. I really need portable laser that can engrave on silver and gold and iron for small business,, So what's your suggestion ?
Только оптоволоконный лазер.
would you like to test the mr carve m1 laser engraving machine
Sure, reach out to me at info@makeorbreakshop.com
Ah, I see. You learned me something. "They" all say 10,20, 40 watts, but reality is, it's not true. 'Effectively' 10Watts, 20watts, would be more honest. Website has a Atomstack X20 Pro 130W !
I want to see that bad boy in action! This is a great find. The pricing on 40w system is really good!
Is the X20 the same as the S20 on amazon?
Yes the letter in front just distinguishes which color but specs are still the same between X & S
I’m looking to purchase the Xtool D1 for my small business but is it the best choice? Could it be possible for you to rate/compare different lasers and their capabilities?
Stay tuned!
Thank you for the discount code really appreciate it, I saved $108 total (D1 deluxe bundle, 20W diode and extension kit).
Crossing my fingers and hoping for a good start.
Oh awesome!
is this doide module for sale seperate?
Yep!
@@makeorbreakshop might you have a link for the module?
Yes, please!
Correct me if I am wrong but, compared to a CO2 laser, a diode laser doesn't use gas, so it doesn't have a limited shelf life (which affects CO2 tubes, even when they aren't used)...
A Laser Diode will have a small aperture, say 10um by 1um or 100um by 1 um. When it outputs 6W that is a huge Intensity. Also when you put in 12W to get 6W out its creating a lot of heat. So it will have a half life that's not infinite.
@@kurtsanger716 Thanks for your reply. What I meant was that the Diode laser doesn't loose gas just sitting on a shelf like a CO2 Tube does. It obviously has to be replaced after X number of hours being used, but if it's not used it doesn't degrade like C02. A C02 looses life just sitting on a shelf because its gas escapes over time.
Oh boy, get ready to hit delete on this video when the A70 pro comes out. I just think I’m going to buy it. Could you imagine that as your first ever engraver? Im so excited.
Can I get a brouchere for this
very cool!
It's a fun one!
I heard customer service is bad slow reply rate
what's the average life span of a laser diode when its running only at half power? Does it compare with the lifespan of a CO2 laser?
According to XTool, diode lasers last much longer than CO2 lasers.
I’m not sure but I would think longer than a CO2 laser. Plus you don’t have to worry about water cooling like on a C02. Plus the cost for a replacement diode laser head for a machine like this is comparable in price for a CO2 module.
Good video however disappointed that the "offer" to download the test file has expired. Video is two days old and the offer expired? I just received a email from you saying it was the test file click the button below to download but no button???
Oh weird, those test files don’t have a time period on them. Feel free to email me and I can get them to you.
Is it worth almost double the price of a D1?
xTool is about $850 and this is coming in right over $1000 on the links above. Let me know if you are seeing a different price. But with double the power AND the air assist its honestly a a really really good value for what you get.
