One of my favourite directors, whose music and movies derive me and my love for Hindi Cinema. Absolutely loved the conversation, and I wish he had discuss more about his writing experience of Cocktail and Laila Majnu and some more about his music making process.
Oh man now I think this guy is so underrated he gave us films like... Rockstar Highway Jabwemet Loveajjkal Cocktail Tamasha No matter how much fame he got it seems lesser
Thoroughly enjoyed myself. There was so much to learn, get inspired by and just be joyful about. And the sheer lightness and honesty in the conversation ❤️
Only two Hinduites could have had such an interesting conversation, Roshan and Imtiaz ❤ Simply amazing! Could relate to everything having experienced both the cities for a long time 😊😊😊
Imtiaz sir is within an era what a guy , he’s truly blessed with something different I wish I would have also blessed like him & the things are wihich connects me to Imtiaz sir like mountains, Kashmir ,Travel & a lot more oh god it’s miracle ♥️🔱 Even I cannot express it in words it’s like ‘Jo v main kehna chahu Barbad kare alfaz mere ‘
Roshan Abbas, I have been your fan since my childhood.... It's soo good to see you back making content like this..... We need more content like this.... Such an amazing interview...
When I was young and studying cinema, there was a saying that I carved deep into my heart, which is that, 'The most personal is the most creative.’ - Bong Joon Ho, he attributed the quote to the 'great Martin Scorsese’ 54:07
Its like listening to Javed Akhtar.... Wisdom with Simplicity. Nice talk. Also, he has some charm on his face beyond the age factor (though its not much) ... You smile when he smiles.
Waiting for Imtiaz ali directorial film with beautiful organic and no autotuned music album like jab we met, rockstar and GOOD PRESENTATION OF SIMPLE STORIES.🥰🥰💯💞 waiting eagerly for Imtiaz ali's magic
I see Roshan Abbas and i am hooked, it would be a magical podcast if you can bring Shahrukh and not SRK to the podcast and speak from his Fauji days to DDLJ. This phase of his life has always kept me intrigued to know.
There is so much content out there that it’s hard to sift thru and get anything meaningful from it. This is one of those rarities that is honest, informative and nicely put together. Roshan Abbas is a national treasure :)
Roshan Abbas seeing u after so so many years. memories from public demand when you alongwith Tanya Singh use to co host that wonderful show. pls share share some clips from public demand if possible and avbl ❤
This was superb! It's the most in depth interview of a creative person, of the creative process. Imbibed so much! It's over an hour long but I could have easily watched another hour. Superb!
I remember working with him for Pan Bahar ad with Fardeen khan and Feroze Khan. We had Provided Certain Elements and a open top car and Production guy was not paying us for two shifts and Imtiyaz sir got involved and convinced us that the producer won't pay and Production guy will have to pay from the pocket. The way he explained we just let go. Story teller for a reason
Why has it taken me so long to discover Roshan Abbas here? Absolutely loved this interaction. Almost all achievements are a discovery as one goes along. “To be able to surrender is the biggest achievement.”
Came across this interview. And listened till the last word . So interesting and especially imtiaz sir talking about things related to direction noone knew about
Such a wonderful episode! I want to say so much about it but where to begin? Chalo, in no particular order. Also, I've watched it only once, I will watch it atleast a couple of times more. The work ethic of the creator. Imtiaz tells about how he would write, 12 to 16 hours every day, and then not even keep it or use it. I got a sense of how he lost his ego and became only his writing. Can someone else do it? Can I do it? I don't know. But I'm sure as heck going to find it a shot. Such an inspiring thing! The sense of childlike wonder that permeates everything he says. Like a toddler who's been given some very ordinary thing - a pen or visiting card that it doesn't even know is not a toy - and which it can gaze at and turn around for a long time, getting lost in it. Another characteristic of the artist, I think, to see things without feeling compelled to dismiss them The joy at realising that a lot of what Rumi said had occurred to him in his own thoughts and he could identify with them instantly. A mind that has spent long, long, hours thinking about things without any purposefullness Observing people. I had occassion to do this on a recent train trip to a rural place. No signal meant I couldn't put myself into the phone and I ended up observing so much. A mother and her grown up son. The son evidently teasing his mother about something. She feigning anger but you know she's smiling. The father sitting a little away, reading a newspaper. Aloof, yet listening. A little live painting of love. I solemnly promised myself I wouldn't look at phones when I travel. Tldr - loved it!
This is probably my first ever comment on UA-cam but i had to! What a podcast Roshan. It's as if I'm sitting in a drawing room listening to two intellectual bachpan ke dost.

Don't know if you're still following comments on this video, but one free bit of advice...Replace #imtiazali with the words "Imtiaz Ali". I was looking for an interview with the man and this video was so far down the search results I almost didn't find it. Just better SEO. Would have been a shame, because this is such a stellar video! Always been a huge Roshan Abbas fan, ab Imtiaz Sir ki bhi ho gyi!

I thought the same...I loved him since Mastercard Family fortunes...
Either you are too young or too old to miss Roshan Abbas (and Mini Mathur, Nikhil Chinappa etc) when Satellite TV was picking up in India in 90's
@@Ujjwalis you missed the word ‘here’ in my question. Also it is obvious I know of Roshan. Read it again.

vicious cycle ka opposite should be 'Self fulfilling prophecy'. in this context.
Yesss, we also learnt later that Virtuous Cycle is a beautiful opposite term of vicious cycle!

He said Steely Dan , I think it's meant to be a joke, though, because of John Abraham's physique!

Very overrated director. His shelf life is over.
