What may be your issue is that the raw oil is just simply too space inefficient. If you process it it should in theory lower the mass quantities while increasing the overall value, creating a dedicated processing zone that can handle the full output of the wells might just solve your traffic problem at its source. One thing CS taught me was that not fixing a thing thats already broke just results in a web of random relief tunnels and problems everywhere else and a bunch of unused roads.
the actual problem is that hes trying to solve throughput that is bottlenecked at the return point.
Lane Mathmatics is a fancy way of saying you dont know what the problem is and hope this works. the actual way you resolve the issue is by tracing the Traffic Jam front to back and creating solutions to it, ensuring that the AI doesnt preferential choose to create traffic jams.
Kibitz would be able to resolve all this just by figuring out which set of intersections are causing traffic-death.

Also, too much dedicated turning lanes can do a lot of damage when not many people actually turn at individual intersections
Please take a look at "lane mathematics", that can solve a lot of your traffic related issues, especially on highways.

and then what? be looking at boring efficient city without any problems? no more laughing at consequences of stupid shit builds? meta and mixmax is nice and cool but totally takes fun out of games - hard learned lesson

To be clear, the two plane thing at 15:00 is totally normal and definitely in the manuals - That's how you get little planes.

Looks at roundabout that goes both ways and how it's currently completely bottlenecking the oil district.
The dilemma with the traffic and the money seems to be that using planes and boats to lessen the traffic works but not enough to be profitable so you need more of them but doing so is more expensive and might take to long to become profitable
I think that the only reason he is not making money is because traffic got so bad that trucks cant get to the train stations in order to sell stuff.
As a seaman officer I can say, that making an enclosed port like you did in first minutes of movie is the best move ever. Such ports do not suffer from currents and big wave impact problem, which breaks mooring lines of vessels.
You're basically just making Houston; Terrible zoning, terrible "natural" disasters, and WAAAAY too many roads

One of the cargo ports has the entering and leaving traffic crossing over itself to get on/off the road and probably slowing it way down
That oil area is too large, things are too distant from each other. Make smaller lots with extraction, storage and processing close to each other. Make,sure you process most and dont sell any unprocessed oil. You can check that by clicking on the name of the industry area. Fun videos, thanks man

man im so glad i found this lets play, every time i build a city in this game i always want to build a big industrial empire and watching this series has taught me why i always fail lol

Pretty much need to choose the mode of transport for the industry to force it to use that specific way to export product. The simulation isn’t smart enough to diversify so you have to just choose for them haha. The city’s current industry has too many options so it just picks the most efficient hence the blog down
Local Freight Trains are your answer to solving congestion. Use trucks for mostly local traffic and have your cargo hub and cargo airports all connected to the same train routes.
you should make the truck lane into a 3 lane to start with a 2 lane off to the left with both of the left 2 lanes of the 3 lane going onto the 2 lane going back to the oil area or use the Biffa method of lane mathematics which always seems to work

Roads that are only accessible for emergency vehicles, dump trucks and hearses would probably be very beneficial for you.
I think the solution to the oil truck chaos is just more. Set things up so that you have roads where it is oil extraction then next to that is processing and next to that is a warehouse and then a cargo terminal. That's right: one cargo terminal per oil well per road. Take that game!

I think you made supply for 100 units of oil but only permitted 1 unit to be transferred. If your redesign works closer to 1:1, it will be better. In that your tanker truck to train transfer makes sense but the trucks are all funnelled into ONE road.

What if you build a separate highway from the beginning of the map completely separate from the city and have maybe a small few roads from the city to the industrial portion maybe do some simple math and see how fast the trucks move jn and out of each factory and decide how many highways you need for maximum efficiency 🤙🏻 just a thought
Umm about the trains there is a little bug with the junktions that sometimes they dont have rails on it. Soooooo have fun looking ^^
I'm not 100% certain, but if the trucks are being made out of thin air, dedicate a road for each oil tanker truck to go to either a storage yard, or a processing facility, basically, '100% out, = 100% in' or whatever is generated gets immediately dissapeared. rather than taking stuff outside of the city limits, instead remove the road connections for the trucks to utilize in the first place, so only trucks generated to drive to processing facilities or storage facilities/intermediary uses are ever generated in the first place, this means no trucks generated to use the roads to leave the city limits

try close systems with the only exit from the sector is a duck, train or plane and for people metro, mono, bus or tram. otherwise i get always stuck with a.i. on vanilla cities skylines.
I have the same problem, masive industrial zone. Dead lock traffic. I hope the people that make the game do more with traffic inputs.

Yeah, you need to fix your industrial stuff. You're making a lot of stuff, but if it keeps backing up, no wonder it can't be exported.

Shouldn’t put the train lines in the ports or airport. Just makes the trucks go to the train station first.
Honestly just using trucks to get off the map would probably be better.
