Something that might help is to turn on Automatic Tolls policy. You'll make less money from tolls but the trucks can go through the toll booth without stopping so you'll make more money by them getting to the destination faster and not clogging the roads
for the problem with traffic on highways you can enable lane changing option in traffic manager options, but it can sometimes ruin everything so tweak it a little bit.
Interesting fact: Anchorage is the busiest cargo airport in the world. It can service Asia, Europe and the America all at the same time. In fact it became the busiest airport in the world in 2020. And as climate change melts the polar ice caps more it is going to be vital for cargo ships too.
Anchorage was one of the top passenger hubs back in like the 90’s. Russia restricted a lot of commercial traffic, so a Europe to Asia fight was quicker through Anchorage than south across India. Also you airlines didn’t have the legs that they do now so a New York to Japan had to have a layover and the best was Anchorage. The most modern planes can now make that flight nonstop, but for cargo flights they would have to decrease the cargo they could carry. So Anchorage is better for cargo flight. When Covid hit and passenger traffic took a nose dive, cargo traffic was still going strong. It’s still one of the busiest and will be for a long time, is the logistics more than the popularity of the city.
RE: Incoming trucks. PLEASE use lane math and the lane tool, it will help greatly with dividing traffic through the airport. Also considering you have three 'lanes' (entrances) you might do better if you just disconnect them? that way trucks can't go in one entrance and end up at a different terminal.
14:30 it actually is not a luxury as Airports are required to have a firefighter department, in case a plane crashes, so basically every other airport you run currently is more or less illegal
The trick of good traffic in big cities is: Don't let the AI think :D Also, if you're looking for good tutorials, Biffa could possibly help you with the mess of traffic you have. I would recommend watching some of the subscriber-send-in-maps fix videos. Good Luck with the Monopoly City
Your "efficient roads" are not very efficient. You need to change the lane count between on and off ramps to force the traffic to move over, otherwise you'll always have a massive traffic jam in the right lane, and if your offramp goes into a two-lane road, then the ramp should also be two lanes
What about banning trucks from going into the cargo airport and only using trains from local industry cargo rail stations to deliver to the airport? Disconnect the airport completely from the road network and let the airport/train station's own vehicles do the relay. (and build required services directly onto airport land)
If this is possible, you should build a small airport near the Uptown Snobsbury for rich people only [I guess you can just make the tickets more expensive or sth] and build an Aviation Museum there, maybe near the cliff. Oh, that would be so cool. Also came up with a name for it: Snobby Airs
Being a truck driver on the ports mainly here in Tacoma/Seattle area... The truck traffic is spot on. Sit and wait, move a few feet, wait some more... all day!
I love so much how we went through like several different revelations about what was causing the traffic and spent episodes fixing it but we’ve moved on from that now and we are just living with the traffic
When making roads that merge or split, consider matching the number of lanes. So if you have a two lane road and one lane enters it you should have three lanes after the merger if possible, and if you have three lanes and one splits of then you should have two after the split on the main road.
If you wanna try to resolve the traffic problem you should watch "Biffa Plays Indie Games" videos, or send him your map (he have a series where fix maps of his follower)
From my experience with a big and busy industrial area and a cargo airport close by, you will never get the traffic to split evenly amongst your cargo stands. But I found a decent compromise by having my highway off ramps lead directly to different cargo airplane stands (with like 8 units of the cargo road). So, a main highway from the industry area leads to a seven-way split, each of which again splits into two, for a total of 14 cargo plane stands. Only about 5/6 actually get used, but at least it spreads the traffic out a lot, and it's interesting to look at. Until someone makes a mod which encourages the AI to go to different cargo stands, I think the best idea is to just use the Rebalanced Industries mod to greatly reduce the amount of cargo trucks used by industry buildings (it's a genuine godsend, but I understand wanting to figure it out), and try to reduce the crossing traffic and slow areas on the cargo roads.
For the delivery plains have them on their own yard with only roads to exit. Have more space in-between ur export areas. Dont have all ur export plains storage commected together. Meaning if it uses one of the tolls to enter its only going to go to that one export storage. It stopes them from trying to go to the same storage but using different tolls. Ur taxie ways are to close and interconected. Give them a bit more space. Think of the plains as cars. Need increase capacity to more volume. Ur only using a single taxie lane for a very very heavy volume of plains. For ur size of storage yard. U need a exit taxi lane dedicated to its only takeoff runway.
You can also add the train-stations on a separate road network(within the airport) where they do not interfere with the other traffic and the cargo trucks can not use that station
I can’t remember what airport it was I was at but I remember taxi-ing over a road. Like the whole plan was just rolling on a specific bridge that had a tunnel underneath it for cars.
this game really needs a mod that makes the traffic cleverer. there's a bird app in this game, so there's probably a radio that announces traffic jams. want it to be immersive, make it a feature of an industry. this is kinda the only thing that holds me back playing this more. there has to be a way to make this more dynamic.
you should have the tollbooths vertically next to eachother and have one road split into three before the booths and then have 3 seperate roads after the booths each going to an isolated part with planes. this way distance is equal and not every car can go to one plane... love your video's!
Kibitz, the reason trucks go to the airport train station without coming from planes. Is because they can get there via normal roads. If you force them trough the cargo airport hub, i doupt they will go there then.
Idk why man but your Video popped up one day and now I'm hooked ...I'm 33, have loads of stress and watching your videos, help me forget. For only a little bit but it helps. Thank you very much. Keep up the cool wacky content lol
We need cities skylines 2 with BETTER AI traffic decisions and choosing the best options. If one terminal is busy, go to the next one, etc etc. traffic ruins the city. AI even uses ONE lane instead of all the empty 3 lanes that’s provided to them.
All of the aircraft stands are in dead ends. Set up the taxiways like the multiple train station layouts you have, and the aircraft won't get in each others way so much
I'd suggest to try adding more aircraft stands (or whatever the spots are called where the planes stop to unload/load the cargo) and add a bit more space between them. With the current setup about half the stands have planes before planes start waiting on the taxiway. There is plenty of demand at the airport to handle many more planes. If you brought the taxiway further away from the stands then you would be able to add space between the current stands and add some more stands to the end of the rows. There is plenty of space to do this. For the trucks the choking point is where the four lanes goes down to two right before it turns to the airport roads. How about having the four lanes coming from the toll booth each go to a separate single lane and the single lanes spreads the vehicles out along the back road (where each of the toll booths lead to)? If you wanted to have each of the lanes end at a row of aircraft stands this would allow you to add another row of stands. This change would replace the four toll booths and trying to get the vehicles to spread out into the four of these. The vehicles may stay in one or two lanes before the toll booth and end up in one or two of the single lanes afterward but it would be interesting to find out.
They can’t drive backward, but they can be pushed back by a pushback truck, or use their thrust reversers to move back slowly, even though that is not used for pushback.
Hi Kibz - I like the new episode. Maybe you could divide the trucks equally with traffic lights? Is it possible to make the lights like 10 seconds only left, then 10 seconds only straight and then 10 seconds only right?
If the trucks AI hasn’t selected a left route and the light is green to go left it will just sit there and wait until it turns to the direction it already wants to go. This would make things worse.
Maybe try one long airport cargo road instead of 3 separate ones. Idk if that'll help but might be worth a shot! This is my favorite series kibz I believe in the air choo!
if you made a second runway that was perpendicular to the first one but ran towards the airport that would work great as a landing runway, I’m sure you’ve also noticed the wild flight paths planes have to take to align with the runway. more angles the better BROTGER
what if you build seperate highways that are coming from each factory to the airports, so that the different trucks dont mix. that way you dont have the problem of them choosing the closest airport, because they can only drive to one specific airport :)

make the roads more curved or smooth, not sharp turns coz of sharp turns vehicles slows down and that causes traffic if the roads are curve or smooth turns than the vehicles can pass easily. Also use lane connectors that are really useful like really useful u can use that in tolls at airport just connect main road to the many road at tolls. And yes I noticed there is a really huge line of traffic near that cargo ship terminal u built near sea side, outline map side u should check that too.
You have a highway which draws traffic from multiple different branches, and to thin that traffic out you'll need more branches, not a funnel. I would suggest a separate turn off for each entrance to the cargo hub
Connect the runaways to the Aircraft stands separately means every runaway have it on aircraft stands this I think will make it easier and less confusing and more affective
As a professional in the aviation sector, I think I lost about 15 years of my life watching this. But I was entertained. Just a quick gameplay thought I had. Why not build a seperate section on the airport with a dedicated runway for incoming traffic only? Shouldn't it work? So just a Taxi Way on the end (btw, i believe you could just connect the taxiways and dont let planes stand in the departure) connected to some terminals which are only connected to a train station? So you would get incoming goods only through trains. And not clogging up you exporting goods.
Something that might help is to turn on Automatic Tolls policy. You'll make less money from tolls but the trucks can go through the toll booth without stopping so you'll make more money by them getting to the destination faster and not clogging the roads
That's a thing. I used toll booths all over my city, but the cars kept finding ways to go in a non toll both.
@@KRYMauL generally I'll use them for fixed destinations like some of the malls in CO. Only one road there and it's a toll booth
@@marcusfowler8544 If one could use a toll lane I would make all the lanes toll lanes to make more money.
The tolls where not the bottleneck in this case. It's the airport driving & loading/unloading speed itself.
You should use the train stations for internal transport, to get goods from the industry to the airport, not connect it to the outside
That's a good idea! 100% robbing that one. I'd have individual stations on the airport for each industry zone as well. Keep it nice and separate.
