    As I was groovin to Black Sabbaths "The warning" and on my 3rd taste of Laphroiag select, I've come to the realization that I'm old. Dirt old.
    You 2 are hilarious. Thanks for the tips.

    I have tried and loved the 10 year offering and finally stepped up to grab a bottle of this. Usually out of my price range it was very nice to feel I got my full $'s worth with how nice this is.

    Springbank rules! it's probably the most traditional artisan destillery in Scotland and it's flavour profile compares to nothing. SB is pretty much the essence of what scotch whisky is about

    something i came across about decanting your whisky that i found really cool ... basically it was to hide the brand name as in to not make someone think about the price but to enjoy the whisky itself ... anyhow , cheers !!!

    I tasted this the other day and it was indeed the first time I had a Campbeltown (maybe my first lowland at all). I can testify that I thought it was trying to kill me. I describe it like licking the bottom of a boat that has been moored too long and is growing mould, and trying to disinfect my mouth with iodine. But as you always say, the best whiskey is the one you enjoy, and on that same day I had my first Redbreast 12, which takes a spot on my top 5.
    All respect to Springbank distillery and those that enjoy it.

    Are applications still being accepted for mooch positions? I'll mooch hard and accept payment in whiskey.

    My decanters have a rubber ring that seems to seal pretty well, not just the ground glass, do you think they would preserve the whiskey longer?

    I really enjoy you're reviews guys. I was going to buy a Springbank 10 today from the whisky shop but everybody who works in the store didn't like it so I went with the Longrow instead. Not sure if you guys have tried it. I'm really looking forward to trying it. I've been wanting to try something different to the sherried speysides I've been drinking lately.

    I was wondering you mentioned that the Springbank is 2 and a half times distilled. What does that mean? or How does it work?

    • @WhiskeyVault
      @WhiskeyVault  6 років тому

      It's two different distillation runs combined. One run of 3 and one run of 2.

    • @Flatheadmedia1

      I should elaborate... Springbank is not a beginner whisky, but it's extremely complex. It's also one of the, if not the oldest distillery in Scotland.

    • @Flatheadmedia1

      It reminds me of the Yamazaki 12

      Springbank is one of my favorite distilleries, but it's definitely not for everyone. Super brine, slight bandaid and rubber, but behind that a wonderfully plummy and fruit note finish. I'll add it to the list!

    I recently discovered your channel , and I have to say its very interesting and very comprehensive for understanding the virtues of whisky. I'm very new to scotch I've have come from the world of bourbon. i 've tried only a few scotches the balvenie 12 and the ardbeg 10. Do you have any recommendation of scotches that I should try? in addition I've heard that some of the independent distilleries tend to put out better products. would you agree with that? Keep us the great work you guys are doing instilling knowledge and understanding for others.

      I forgot to add that Monkey Shoulder was the second scotch I ever bought the first the Dewars it was so awful. I tend to stay away from a lot of blends like Johnny Walker Chivas Regal and Dewars. However I've heard a lot of good things about Compass box though. I watched your Highland Park 12 video I think that might be the next bottle I purchase because it has a little of everything. I added the bourbonblog I'm still of fan of and Tom Is a very funny and informative guy. I loved the bourbon vs scotch video! :-)

    • @WhiskeyVault

      Yes! There are some really good blends out there, though! Black Bottle is a really great one.

      Johnnie Walker Black Label is just fine as an introduction to whisky. There's a good portion of Caol Ila in there. Also something I haven't seen any of on Ye Olde Whisky Vault is Old Pulteney 12 yo. That is a fine whisky at a reasonable price.

    Douchy nitpicky correction: There's no Kilkerran distillery. Kilkerran is the name of the whisky made by the Glengyle distillery. I think you even touched upon this in your (ooooold) video on Kilkerran.

    I heard that crystal decanters leach lead into the liquid. Is that true and is it a concern? Love watching you guys. Watching your videos and learning to enjoy whisky has added a lot of fun that I am sharing with my wife and friends. --Bill

    • @WhiskeyVault
      @WhiskeyVault  6 років тому

      That's true if the crystal minerals are lead based, which is typical. Better to use glass or make sure that the minerals used to strengthen the crystal aren't lead.

    Someone go back in time and tell Rex to cheer up. He's too close to the situation to realize (or he's just playing a different angle)... so Rex gives us the less experienced newer guys' take on the whisky which augments Daniels comments, or we could say Rex grounds Daniel in reality since most of us are not Pros.
    I've saved the best for last. Rex brings humor to the show. He has some good comedic timing, like a stand-up comic. He could probably pull off a beginner stand-up comic show (think Seinfeld when he was getting his start).
    Maybe Rex just needed to think creatively off camera, come up with some various new material... that's all.
    Raising a young family with new kids added... that can wear you out, man. Good luck.
    Cheers.
