Which games do you feel push hardware limits (that weren't featured in our previous 3 episodes on the subject)? Be sure to tell us how they push limits!
Game Sack rebel assault on my 386/25mhz
Game Sack Sonic Unleashed PS3/360?
Killzone 2 and 3 on the PS3 where very impressive at the time and pushed the console
Uncharted 3 also
Not sure if you guys covered it..but Resident Evil 2 for the N64 definitely pushed the limits considering the FMV needed for the PS1 at the time.
I need to comb my hair....
You don’t need to. It already looks cool.
Nah. You’re cool man. Stay awesome!
Great parody eh Jason
I lost it at "hidden gem?"
MetalJesusRocks I think you shrunk a few feet too. 🙂
How about games that push Joe and Dave to their limits?
haha at the Metal Jesus spoof.
lol looked exactly like him
It was so badly done it was awkwardly funny. Great guys :)
How can anyone hate on Parodius? That series is awesome!
That Driver game on the GBA was ASTOUNDING. There's no way I thought that the GBA could pull off an open-world style GTA clone like that - especially not as a third person shooter..
Please put the chatting Parodius vid out by it's lonesome. Need to share that among friends, the subtitles are HILARIOUS!
I agree. I'm literally dying of laughter.
*its (possessive)
it's = contraction of "it is/has"
I wish I knew what the announcer was actually saying rather than the joke subtitles
Cant believe I'm still discovering new games on NES that are this interesting. Thanks Sack boys.
The expression in the face of Metal Jesus Discos is Hilarius LOL
*hilarious
Gamesack! I am still waiting for your video of "games that use the select button"!!!
Great video Dave! Thanks for letting Joe live at the end.
It was very charitable of him
It is good that Dave keeps Joe in line. Otherwise Joe might get a big head.
chrisbg99 GIYGAS?! but I thought you were dead!
Went with a more subtle route to spread evil. Commentating on UA-cam videos.
Wow, how did you get Metal Jesus in for this episode?!
I was obviously making a sarcastic comment. We all know that's Joe in a wig, dude.
More impressive is how the Metal Head developers got Dave in the game 6:44.
That's not Metal Jesus, that is Sexy Jesus.
Poison are you kidding me..... smh
he just super limposed
About to go to sleep....Game Sack notification? Sleep can wait!
Joey's Bunghole awesome lol
I worked on Driver 1. Had to test every wall in the city to see if you could drive through them. Six months of the most tedious game testing ever. And we told them the tutorial mission in the garage was too hard a million times. Did they listen? What do you think
Heey, Here is a message for you from year 2000;
Greetings!
Thank you for all that 6 months of testing, I really appreciate your work and the results.
: )
Driver3 gta ripoff?? Gta3 first drivers ripoff. Thank you for cheating in first driver. Why they didn't included cheating in driver 2??
No they DIDNT buggering listen
Marco Lerius Bautista Cordova Well...thanks!
Metaljupiter 64 We tried! They weren't having any of it..
Haha man. Those misheard samples in Parodius were hilarious!
Nou en of!
My favorite retro gaming duo is back!
PooperScooper99 like your name
Matthew Bernardi Thanks mate
Village of Mustard!! More Fists Outside!!
Cuckoo magic in my desk
Dude it's a sad toe
Who do I grab by the neck? I'll have the... the mustard! Ahhh! ;)
"Shove a joystick up my way!"
Automatic Guy Tony is the name of my new anime.
The metal Jesus refrence got me! Amazing video as always
Dave, you love the Genesis? Blink twice if Joe is holding you hostage.
Glad to see Joe recovered and did the Mister overview after being stabbed when Dave left the show.
6:30 - Awesome to finally see Metal Jesus in your vid. lol
(arguably the most accurate impression ever. :p )
my favourite video game show on YT
Great cameo from the Metal Jesus!
😂
Your Metal Jesus impression has improved. It is even more spot on now ;-)
that face and body language after he's done talking was amazing
Game Sack pushing the UA-cam limits
2:40 Andross?
Didn't expect to find you here my fellow kekerino
Awww yeah. Time for some Sunday Night Sack!
Dave McHugh sunday morning
Thank you guys for making my Sunday mornings awesome!
'Left in North Korea 1'
Super Glorious Leader Bros 2.
North Korean Tetris is unironically great, and has the most proletarian scoring system I've seen in a video game.
This is my favourite Game Sack series. Thanks guys.
New episode? Time to watch the first 3 before this one. You guys really have one of the greatest gaming channels on youtube.
I always remember the PS1 game called "APOCALYPSE". Amazing Graphics for the time
Greendog pushed the limits of the Sega Genesis.
Justin Vill and the limits of my heart
Your 24 mega power voice was insanely creepy. Thank you for that.
"ILL FINGER YOU!"
Thx for making me spill my drink through my nose it was worth it
1:20 in and joe has mentioned parallax scrolling 3 times. This will be a good episode.
*parallax
@@alvallac2171 Thank you
Greendog is Game Sack’s Knack 2.
1:28 .. " It's rare that I like that graphical style". I see what you did there!
6:35 LOOOOOL!!! That MJR impression was fucking great!
Panarama Cotton 100% using Blast Processing....
"It's RARE I like this graphical style" Pun intended?
LOL, no! Funny though, I hadn't noticed that. :)
Love the metal Jesus reference. That youtube parody us my favorite episode of all time with you guys 👌🏽
I love the idea of these episodes! Keep them coming
YOU GUYS SHOULD DO A VIDEO ON THE VITA!! I DONT THINK YOUVE DONE ONE ON IT!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!
Playstation TV has a normal HDMI out. So that's a non-issue.
There is a huge difference between digitized and pre rendered sprites Joe.
Digitized are real photos of things put into games while pre-rendered is when you make 3D models and transform them into 2D sprites.
More Joe pushing Dave's limits please
We need a Rom mod to insert into Oshaberi Parodius those lines you say...
Village of mustard is something that'd fit the craziness of the series
And I thought the original Okami on PS2 looked good. :)
There's going to be a part 5 no doubt.
That feel when you'll never own a copy of Snatcher on the Sega CD
Haha! Yes! I was hoping fot yet another MJR parody and Joe delivered! Awesome!
Right on schedule!
Bible Buffet really does have some great voice samples! I should know, there was a chunk of time in college where I'd find myself playing this at 3AM more than I'd like to admit. (Except I only ever heard the "Player One!" sample because...you know, I didn't have any friends.) Also worth noting that wonderfully condescending, "Nice job!" sample. Anyway, I definitely need to check out Chatting Parodius and that village of mustard!
Jikkyō Oshaberi Parodius ("Chatting Parodius") is great but I would recommend the Saturn or Playstation versions instead which are overall better though it's still good on SNES and interesting as a technical achievement.
Yohko M. Good to know! I’m actually browsing eBay right now and for some reason I thought the Saturn version would be more expensive. But, I don’t own a Saturn at the moment so I’ll probably be going with the SNES or PS version at some point.
Mr. Blocky Hey, we all have things we aren’t proud of!
Tsk tsk tsk, I know I've been guilty of experiencing the mindfuck that is Tail of the Sun on PS1, but COME ON, BIBLE BUFFET?!
How could you not have any friends? Are college kids all stupid?
Soul Star is the "Witcher" from back in the day. Jesus, it looks so god damn good, even for today's standards of indie games. I would love to some modern games looking this crispy.
woke up to a new game sack episode, best birthday ever!
Awesome episode as always! And I actually do have a couple suggestions for a part 5 that I thought of as I was watching it, so I'm going to comment with them, because that's just what I do! ;)
First off, there's a Game Boy game (regular, not even Color!) called "Metal Masters" that I know baaaaasically nothing about, and there's almost no footage of it to be found anywhere on the internet, so I assume it probably sucks. However, its music is some of the BEST I HAVE EVER HEARD on an 8-bit platform. Like, it's kind of mindblowing how good it is -- it's like something you'd hear in a European dance club! It truly pushes the Game Boy's sound hardware to its absolute limits, and I think it deserves a spot in a future episode just for that -- and I think you'll agree when you hear it! Check out this video (though feel free to skip the first 35 seconds or so, as it has a really long intro that's basically just noise, but then gets really good, really fast): P5NZXMEtUoY
The music in that game was composed by a lesser-known chiptune artist named Alberto Jose Gonzalez, and his other works are worth checking out too. He was inspired by Tim Follin, and basically composes very much in the same style, but dare I say even BETTER a lot of the time, with games like the Game Boy Color Turok titles and The Smurfs' Nightmare (yes, seriously) having some of the most gorgeous and technically complex music on the entire system. And best of all, he's still composing chiptunes for indie homebrew games to this very day, with his most recent work being a homebrew ZX Spectrum and MSX2 title called "The Sword of IANNA."
Another game that's worth checking out in a future episode, but which I'm guessing you already knew about (and probably already covered at some point!) is the unreleased Famicom title "Bio Force Ape," which is notable for being almost undeniably the FASTEST-MOVING GAME on the entire platform. I think it even has the Sonic games beat in terms of pure speed! It's pretty impressive, as I really didn't think the Famicom hardware could handle such ridiculously quick scrolling.
Anyway, those are my recommendations! Looking forward to your next episode, and thanks for continuing to deliver quality content with such EXTREME regularity! ;)
I'll check it out for sure!
When I see games like Soul Star, it makes me wonder why couldn't they have pulled off some Super Scaler games on the Sega CD like Arcade perfect ports of Space Harrier or Outrun?? It obviously had the capabilities.
They would've just left them in Japan anyway.
Laziness, just look at Battle Frenzy / Blood Shot on the Sega/Mega CD and compare it to the Genesis version, see any difference? nope... while they could've redone the game with full rotation and scaling hardware capabilities, but nope it's the same game with just a CD soundtrack...
It's probably because Outrun's levels have lots of hills, which the Genesis hardware doesn't handle very well. Soul Star looks great, but you'll notice any level with ground underneath uses a mode-7 type of effect which is very flat. Hills and uneven terrain poses a problem for Sega's 16 bit home consoles for some reason..
It could be done on the Sega CD, just look at the driving scenes on Batman Returns. The system handled hills beautifully. In the right hands, the Sega CD was an impressive system.
I always love the skits at the end
You guys are the best. Thanks for existing.
You guys are pretty smart..love the way you breakdown and analize the graphical power of each game. It's good to know the scientific method of these games..great work and always a fan. God bless...
Woooooooo! Fuckin New #Gamsack video at midnight? Why not...who needs sleep when you have work in a couple hours 😂 almost fell asleep but fuck it
at least they're not posting at 2am anymore haha
Love me some Gamsack
Whole bag of Lady legs?
so stoked when there's new game sack when i get off work!
Now i want a romhack of Parodius translated by Joe and Dave.
YOU 👏DON'T👏 LOVE👏 GAMESACK IF 👏YOUR 👏WIFE 👏HAS👏 NEVER 👏HAD 👏YOU 👏ROLEPLAY 👏AS 👏DAVE!
Shane Q Didn't know I had to be married to enjoy Game Sack
Ashura96 its in the rulebook
Game Sack did 8bit 9/11
This Game Sack pushed my hardware limits to the maxxxxxxxx!!!
My favorite youtube channel! Best game reviewers on Earth.
Ninja Gaiden III The Ancient Ship of Doom had some of the best graphics on the NES. In fact they probably should have made the game on the SNES being 1991, and I bet the franchise would have been more consistent and ongoing. It also had franchise killers with Razor's Edge & Yaiba Ninja Gaiden Z. The DS game Dragon Sword was more fun than those games. Anyway both Harmony of Dissonance and Aria of Sorrow were really pushing the Gameboy Advance to look and sound closer to Symphony of the Night... respectively. And they when you thought their graphics looked amazing, they put both games on one cart with almost no issues at all!
Doom on the Switch is a great example of a game pushing the console to its limits.
TumblingT according to Digital Foundry that version it’s lower than the lowest settings on PC, if that is pushing the Switch Limits? Wow
The Switch is a handheld console. I remember the GBA version of Doom which chugged at like 10FPS. That was impressive. The fact that a handheld can play a 2016 AAA game at all should be impressive.
I DO JUEGOS Go play your Xbone
Wrath of Vaughn I’m not trolling and I’m not retarded, is not my problem that Nintendo chose portability over power and when Nintendo of America made a poll vastly majority of people chose that they play their Switch in their home, it wasn’t even close compared to people who play their Switch on the go, so please stop using the portable console excuses
MrYouarethecancer I don’t even own an Xbox
This has to be my favorite series of episodes you guys do!
This is a NES classic everywhere but the US
Captain Tsubasa 2, it is an amazing game, specially if you grew up with the anime
How much did you guys pay for Metal Jesus to do the cameo?
About tree fiddy
Game Sack Game Sack and South Park, the two best things to come out of Colorado.
Just some (hidden) gems...
@@GameSack $3.50?
Nice slang!
I would prefer getting stabbed, than loosing Snatcher^^
That scene with Dave and the NES was my favorite. That bit really pushed Game Sack limits.
You guys are the best! Thank you for the eps!
Metal Joe-sus.
Now she definitely doesn't look like Ellen Page... 12:15
Times of Lore on the Commodore 64 was quite a technical feat. They used both methods of sprite drawing to achieve high resolution and colour at the same time!
You guys have a never ending supply of cool shirts
Ellen Page 😆 That joke has aged perfectly
It's never a normal Saturday night without a Game Sack video.
Sapphire was also released on the PSP as part of a compilation disc. An awesome shoot-em-up!
Oh god you even got his creepy-ish face down pat.
"Some sort of virus"??? The Last of Us is all based around mushroom spores! A really fun a unique take on the zombie genre. And it fits in with those creepy ants IRL that get infected with spores, that cause them to climb to the tops of trees, then mushrooms burst out of their heads and drop more spores and the cycle repeats.
Arlo Jeremy the parasite is called Cortaseps (don't know the spelling sorry)
Arlo Jeremy Also clickers are a specific type of the infected.
Tlou is more zombie survival horror that's neither fresh nor unique , please stop
The storyline is very clear if you even half pay attention to it. How can you not know even the basics of this game? Did you sleep through while someone else played the game for the footage? You normally do better than this, or at least state you didn't pay attention and don't care.
Arlo Jeremy i dont think last of us looked tht great or pushed it by then every game was pushing because it barely ran on the systems. Lair on ps3 was a game tht pushed ps3
Love this series found a lot of good games from it. You guys are great love your videos
hahahah that Metal Jesus Xover is the bomb
still waiting for a resident evil episode!!!!!
I swear to God the humour in this show is surpassing Rick & Morty
Nabman11 To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Game Sack. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of retro gaming most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Dave's anti-SEGA outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Shigeru Miyamoto games, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Game Sack truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Joe’s existential catchphrase “Hello and welcome to Game Sack,” which itself is a cryptic reference to SEGA’s Hedgehog epic Sonic Spinball. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dave’s genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Game Sack tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
MrYouarethecancer Congrats good sir. This is my favorite comment so far today.
HotStuff Don't tell me how to live my life, fucker.
HotStuff lol. Try harder.
I was in tears at the translations. You could make an entire series based on " What I think I'm hearing "
Such as "cut the foods", as would be heard in an upcoming Left in Japan installment about a Cyborg 009 game on the Sega CD. You know, the one with the alien triplets?
I love playing games that flirt with the limit of their capabilities. It's like looking back in time and forward in time...AT THE SAME TIME.
I make yaoi's of you two
In typical Naughty Dog fashion, they added motion blur to make the game look like a blurry piece of garbage
Great work, guys! These games are impressive!
Thanks guys. Great episode. I especially like how Arthur looks like he’s about to lance Dave for most of the episode.
Always nice to see metal jesus disco
Always an interesting subject. great job as always fellers! many thanks for brightening up my Sunday.
Der langrisser snes. The game is huge with 4 branching story arch's that depend on your choices in game. Its amazing and needs a bigger audience in the west! Great vid :-)
i had an itch to scratch regarding my sack. i am now thoroughly pleased.
Excellent as always.
