just want to reiterate that I used the armada ARV 116 JJ for 3 seasons and that ski only. before that, I used the armada al dente 98 for 3 seasons.
you don't need a big quiver of skis to progress and enjoy the mountains. this is the first season I've ever had more than one ski in my quiver. I believe it makes sense from a business standpoint (ie writeoffs) and an entertainment/value standpoint on the creative end. let me know if you have any questions!
I think this is great, and I love seeing the quiver!
One idea: (and just take with a grain of salt) you probably could either 1) get sponsored or 2) do ski reviews (ie…get free skis and do a review. Perhaps see Ginger Runners UA-cam channel on running shoes as a model). I think you probably have a great reach and people would respect your views on skis as authentic/no BS. Anyway, love the channel!
i am glad that i watched this video today.. i am planning on skiing tomorrow and i was going to use a different ski but i think that i am going to stick with the ski that i used the last time.. i am still trying to figure out that ski..
Great video. Love hearing about the quiver. Can you do one on How You Film your self? You are amazing at shooting yourself skiing!!
The wall of STOKE!
Haha love it!!
Lucas - appreciate the Armada review. Specifically, your assessment discussing the cost savings and your comment about “being a loyal consumer”. Refreshing to hear such an honest and humble review. I’m a fan and love sharing your passion with friends. All the best….(keep ‘‘‘em stoked!)
stoke is high man! thanks for sharing!
Was a K2 guy until I bought a pair of Armada’s on a whim. Best decision I’ve ever made regarding skis. The quality is unmatched and the engineering is top notch. Sold the K2’s and now just have the Armada 88 C’s, the Declivity 102 Ti’s, and ARV 106’s. Gets the job done! Great video as always. Thanks Lucas!
sick quiver dude! armada is definitely a top tier ski. love it.
Love, love, LOVE it!! So glad you made this video. Especially since you're an independent voice of how your experience with certain gear actually went down.
thanks james! stoked you liked it!
you should definitely do more of these videos showing the gear you use 👏🏻
glad you liked it!
Thank you for doing this video Lucas! It was awesome to hear your takes on each ski!
glad you liked it connor!
Love the Elks design on top of ski how it shows the whole picture of the Elk when skis are put togather!
Me too! My favorite part about the ARVs!
awesome videos just bought my first pair of Armada Declivity 92 ti thanks to all your videos love to see you ski the Declivity X someday.
Really cool video showing the quiver i don’t think i even knew about the ARG 2’S
yup - not sure many people do haha
In 1967, I bought a pair of Head 360's, my first top of the line ski. Pappa Joe might remember them. It was back when length mattered. Back then, nobody paid attention to width. In deep powdaaahh, you skied in it. A few decades later came parabolic skies. You still skied in it. A decade thereafter width was discovered. And we started on top of it. Still to this day, my favorite experience was riding the first Snowbird chair after a 2 day interlodge and launching into the Cirque with powder up to my shoulders and Volkl P10's (toothpicks) gliding deep down under.
Sounds sweet man. Crazy how ski technology has advanced since then.
I like the point you made about learning how to ski the ski. My quiver in the PNW is a Nordica 104 free and a K2 116c.
Totally different skis that I have to ski differently. Makes it fun mixing it up.
Utah fully supports the 120+ range this year..
Yeeeeeew!!!
thats a great quiver man. well-balanced. yewww
The Hall of STOKE!!!!! ❤ Rocking ARV 86 underfoot…. Gotta love skiing out east :) Be out west @Big Sky in 2 weeks!
lets goo dude thats such a sick ski!!
Armada pick this man up! I got some Bentchetler 120s for Japan in a few weeks and M6 Mantras for everything else :D
I'd be sick seeing you on a bunch of different skis one day. Maybe demoing a bit of everything could make a cool video if you need content ideas.
thanks dude! those 120s are gonna be sick for japan!! cant wait to hear how it goes
What a beautiful Armada collection! Thanks for the drool review 😮 Enjoy Lucas ! Looking forward to seeing some more Epic Ski Days Enjoy homie ✌️
thanks breaux! appreciate you tuning in man
@@LucasCatania17 Thank you Sir
good thing u got all those when literally every day has been a pow day
been a good season to have big skis!
Terrific video! U did a fantastic job integrating info coupled with super fun and authentic ski clips....btw Tell Lane I like and use the Declivity 102's for tighter snow and all mtn skiing esp steep chutes.
thanks joe!
Declivity 102 is excellent!
thanks for showing and explaining the differences
thanks for watching!
Every stable needs horses! Sick setup man, Armada and Van life!
i appreciate you mark. cheers homie
I have the same Al Dente's I actually got my hands on a Prototype pre production ski. I have been riding them since feb of 2017 so before they released the fleet. Great Ski it is a little stiffer due to the carbon stringers in comparison to the E Dollo but it truly is incredible. Wish I didn't roast the edges on all the rails though. Great Collection though Lucas thanks for sharing it.
sick info man - thats a fun ski!
Great discussion on your diverse and impressive Armada collection. Understandable that you need multiple skis as you're on the mountain every day with different terrains and variable conditions. BTW, this season I just upgraded from 80 to 96 under foot! Guess I have a long way to go to catch up with you! 😂
thanks jeff! that upgrade sounds awesome. 96 is a great width for a one ski quiver!
I have the 116 jj UL. It’s a powder ski but I’ve used them on groomers and even ice. A epic ski
Sweet Ski Collection!
thanks bro!!
Just got my first pair of skis and they’re arv 96’s, super stoked to hit the slopes.
Did you try them in pow? How did it go
my new favorite oxymoron "one ski quiver!" p.s. love your great videos
Early congrats on 35K!!
thank you dan!
That's actually a crazy quiver, i only got 1 pair of 96s that's all we need in spain
thats a great one ski quiver though!
This is probably the best ski reviewing video. Thank you! Do you have the bindings all at factory recommended?
except for the stoke crow 106's which are mounted almost center ski, yes
thank you! everything is factory besides the 106's. they are in between freestyle and factory.
@@LucasCatania17 I just moved my ARV 96 from factory recommended closer to freestyle, hoping to make them a little more playful! loved the video
Those pow skis are crazy. Starting to look like water skis. Ha! I ride a 108 underfoot and enjoy that all over the mountain in upwards of 18” new snow. It works great. Maybe I don’t know what I’m missing. But my PNW pow is different from yours. Thanks for sharing.
nice david! the 108 is a great all mountain ski
How is the pnw pow different
so sick
Thanks dude
And I just wish I had one pair of skis 😅
Sick collection!!!
thanks nathan!
Lucas is like General Grevious with his light saber collection
Hahah love itn
💀 funny lol
Good shit bro 🙏🙏🙏
Shout out to Armanda ski poles too man I picked up a set this year and I love em!
thanks dude
I live in Colorado and I personally believe anything under 100 is kinda pointless - unless you are learning.
i like a wider ski, too, but not for everyone
Hey Lucas, looking at buying a used pair of ARG II. How are these when the pow day starts to get cut up, a bit skied out? Do they charge through the cut up more setup snow without getting deflected? All day powder ski. Thanks
How and where did you get 50-55% off?
Cool !
thanks!
Which would you recommend for a pow ski? The OG Arv JJ or the Whitewalker 116? I’m 6’3” 215. Aggressive skier but would say I’m intermediate on powder and probably advanced to expert everywhere else.
Awesome collection! How long will you be staying at PC. Heading into the valley on thursday for a long weekend and wondering if you’ll still be there.
I’m heading out on Wednesday!
would love to demo an ARG on a deep pow day sometime, just to see what it's like.
pretty sick ski for sure
you ever ski on Icelantics? They're solid, smooth, and beautiful.
No I haven’t
Hey, have you ever tried the magic j( Thanner Hall model)? I think it's out of production now. It was the wider ski in their collection before the arg's
Been loving them so far and ripping trough everything even though they are 126 under foot
i never tried it but thats how i ended up finding the arg. i wanted to pick up the magic J but saw they didnt make it anymore and was essentially redirected to the arg haha
@@LucasCatania17 If you have the possibility i recommend to pick a used pair cause they are super fun in the pow and even good around the groomers (very playful) I think just like the jj's but beefiers :)
Been loving your content lately keep it up
Now I’m probably going to buy armada skis next year lol 😂
definitely give them a shot!
Hey Lucas, I honestly don't see how you find the time to do everything in a day and still make the content. By the way are you waxing or tuning your skis in the van or getting a shop to do that? Do you use boot dryers, if so what brand? Keep up the great work.
i appreciate that man. i dont really tune my skis to be honest but if i do, ill have a shop do it here in pc. and i dont use any boot dryers. thanks for watching man
@@LucasCatania17 I recommend using lightly crumbled up old newspapers and insert them in your boots. It will wick out the moisture out of your boots. It's an old army trick. You can do it for your gloves as well.
what's been your issue with the sth2's? I'm a ski mounter/technician in the salt lake area and would be happy to help you with the issue you're having
So admittedly! ... Abe Kislevitz is awesome. But, he is your equal. There is nothing he can do that you can't. Have a blast in Canada. Get some!
You're our boy Blue! Show 'em what you got!
thank you ron!!
any chance you've tried the JJ 116 UL? Graphics are a matter of taste and I'm really not a fan of the deer/elk. Previously had the Bent Chetler 120 so I'm used to a really light pow ski. Guys on the freeride world tour are using the UL so just weighing my options there. Thanks in advance!
Haven’t used them. Caruba core vs poplar ash. A lot smaller sidewall. A bit less resilient and durable compared to the standard JJ for resort skiing. Looks like a sick ski just not for me
Hey Lucas, love your videos! Question for you on a pair of skis you dad was on earlier in the season... the Declivity 102s. Does he still get on those at all, or was he just on them because it was earler in the season? It's a ski I've been looking at as a OSQ and am curious on what his take/thoughts are on them, and yours too if you've happened to ski them. Thanks much!
Lane,
I own the Declivity 102 skis and use them as my daily driver here on the east coast. They are an all around great ski. They carve extremely well, you can totally lay trenches with them. They are good in the trees, very light swing weight. Very lively and playful. I had them out west last year in about a foot of powder and they were awesome. Anything deeper and you will want something wider obviously. Hope this helped.
@@chriskutlina5743 Hey Chris, thanks for the reply and input... def does help. Have been curious how solid/stable the 102 is, and how well this ski performs in bumps, trees, chutes, etc. I've skied a K2 MB 99, and it has unbelievable edge grip... def rails and plows thru chop/crud like nothing, is decent in pow, but perhaps not the most nimble in bumps/trees when conditions are firm.
thanks lane! this is what joe said...Tell Lane I like and use the Declivity 102's for tighter snow and all mtn skiing esp steep chutes.
he definitely still uses them - we've just had so much snow and storms that hes using his fatter skis!
Love the Declivity 102. I’ve had it thigh deep and still cant get enough of it. I prefer to be in the pow vs on top though.
this is honestly off topic but how do you afford these lift tickets or do you just have passes for each of your favorite resorts?
i purchase mega passes at the start of the year called epic and ikon passes and they grant you access to a bunch of resorts
i love my soul 7 rossignol but they are soft , been looking into some armadas for a stronger ski thanks for the ted talk
Did you look at the 116 JJ Ultralight? The reviews say it’s the same ski, but 25% lighter.
It’s not exactly the same ski. It has a whole different core - caruba core vs poplar ash and the sidewall is a lot thinner. I’m my opinion, it is a bit less resilient and durable compared to the normal JJ. It’s made more for touring/backcountry conditions
Where are your 235 mm Sohler Spyder Bluebird skis with Look long thong bindings?
armada or nada
What problems have you been having with the 106 because I just bought and put some armada bindings and have also had trouble with it as well
i'm having premature releases on the right ski. just picked up the 106 in a 188cm length and putting tyrollia attacks on it
ua-cam.com/video/ziRYcW-Ul6w/v-deo.html
@@LucasCatania17 dude im having the exact same thing happen to me
for me both keep releasing but it happens more on the right and i'm too scared to crank the din way up. My heel comes out almost every time I try and butter.
@Armada sponsor the young king
😂😂
I am only 12 yr I have 4FRNT rentals I really like them there really good in steeps, park, trees, and moguls but more than 5 or 7 inches of power is really hard cause there a smaller ski. It's hard to cause where I live(colorado) this ski season has been really good and powder days almost everyday I have went so it kind hard when I get of steep blues It gets kinda hard cause of my small ski, but overall there really good.
4FRNTs are sick dude!
@@LucasCatania17 yes they are
I swear in your preseason gear video you spoke about only wanting a one-ski quiver because it takes out any decision making for daily conditions? what happened?
55% off skis and the ability to have different content to show on my channel.
I’d buy a bunch at that, add in business write off, actually that’s a tame quiver all things considered. Plus he puts a lot of days on each ski, and most are past their prime.
What do you think of the nordica enforcer 104 free?
Awesome ski.
Lucas, Enjoying your content. Do you have a one time donation option?
you can always add a super thanks to the video or stop by the live stream tonight and theres options there!
Armada is crazy not to pay you for all you do to praise them…. POW POW. Long live the King…
We all love pow pow
What do you set your dins at?
my DINs are on 12 but that is a product of height, weight, skier level and boot sole length.
Golfers use a lot of different clubs around the golf course so why can't skiers use a lot of different skis on the ski hill? Ideally you might want to use different skis for different runs on the same day. I would think you could hire a "ski caddy" at Deer Valley who could tote your entire quiver from run to run and you could choose which skis were best for each run.
haha that would be wild. imagine puttting on new skis at the top of different runs
I mighta missed it but how did you get them at 55% off?
It's end of season sales, plus you can buy demo skies in the area. I live in the Park City Area and there are lots of sales around here and in the Salt Lake Valley.
Did you think to get jj 116 ul?
no i wanted the thicker and more resilient ski for resort riding
@@LucasCatania17 cool I was just wondering 👍👍
Hey Lucas, love your stuff but make sure to pace yourself and not burn yourself out with a punishing schedule.
thank you! ill pace myself in april when the viewership drops to zero ;)
I am on Armadas since the beginning. My favorite ski in the line is the whitewalker. So I naturally bought the whitewalker 121. But I am a bit confused. The 116 whitewalker is a stiff ski, stiffer than the JJ. But the 121 seems to have a really soft tail. Way too soft for for big landings. Armada says the stiffness is the same as the 116 ww. Definitely not mine. Its borderline unusable. I wonder whether I bought a broken ski?
the 121 WW is the softest ski ive ever used.
@@LucasCatania17 Ok thank you for the response, so it is supoosed to be that way. Do you struggle on larger cliff drops, like >30 feet? I find them really difficult for landings. Or even harder charging in pow, the tail just folds if you jump a roller with speed and land splightly backseated. I am used to Magic Js and they are the polar opposite (but too heavy and too wide in the end).
Guys I think he likes armada
Good one
So now if Armada sees this, they will be hitting you up! Lol.
Haha would be sick
Calling a 98 narrow is kinda hilarious lol
120 pettitor
thats a cool ski too
I'll be surprised if armada does not sponsor you lol
I wouldn’t be haha
@@LucasCatania17 steep steep is sponsored by gilson skis and he’s a content creator. So maybe companies are pivoting in different directions
What does “JJ” mean? Sorry, I am not up on the Armada lingo.
i think its just the name of the ski.
Jp Auclair and Julien Regnier designed the ski back in the day so I think they just combined their initials to name it JJ
Man just noticed that you only have 35k subs, like broooo everyone needs to be watching your vids are you kidding me! UA-cam have more people see these videos
thanks jared. we deserve where we're at right now
Bro...the soft core porn music! Haha!
hah we call it lofi beats
I love the music you always choose for your videos…given all they time you spend on the hill how do you discover the songs you’re going to use?
im 14 and im the same height as you 😂 but i love your content man
damn dude youre a beast!
Are you sponsored by armada?
No I’m not
