it is objectively impossible to have a bad day up in little cottonwood canyon. stoked to be back up at my favorite resort with a pair of wooden planks on my feet!
“Planks” can only mean one thing… POW! 🤘
LET’S GOOOOOOO LUCAS YEWWWWWW
So unbelievably sick bro
you should do Tyrol bason
8 years ago, rained at Alta in January. Next day ~20f, that was bad. Otherwise I'd have to agree with you
You two have the cutest outfits.
Storm skiing is the best. End of conversation. Free refills every lap and the vibe on the mountain is just so much more relaxed than a bluebird day. Mother Nature almost puts everyone in check and slows everything down. 🌨
And it chases a lot of people off the mountain.
got that right man!
And no lines
agreed, love skiing through a storm.
We went to SLC for our third x-mas break 26th - 1st this year and conditions were powder 3 of 4 ski days. Face shots for everyone! Love to see it still coming down for ya'll. Keep ripping Lucas, you are getting some incredible skiing in and bringing us all along for the ride. Appreciate it!
thats sick!! what an amazing trip for you guys!
My favorite video of yours I have seen so far. I especially love watching you ski with your dad!
Definitely one of your best videos! Thanks for the awesome content Lucas.
thanks for watching dan!
Sick video! This has been such a great snow year! Excited to see more of your content!
thank you mark! its been the best season yet!!
This is probably the sickest week of skiing I've seen... What a great way to open up season 4. Haha. Killin' it!
best week of my life dude!
So fun w/ papa Joe can’t miss those orange pants. Love the ARGs they look like a great ski in pow pow. Also Joe always has good advice.
thanks bon! the arg's were sick
man this was like a bittersweet video for me. Was virtually an everyday Alta/Brighton skier for a few years growing up, and a part of me has become a little disenchanted with little cottonwood at least. The lines at the mouth and the red snakes and chaos going down seem to be the norm versus my fond growing up memories. Ultimately though good vibes as the terrain and snow really is just epic. When I AM there now still, not on the road, the feeling is magical bombing around still.
Joe is absolutely shredding, too lol. Lots of respect.
thanks man. appreciate you being along for the ride for a while. the cottonwoods are a crazy place.
Lucas always tells us his hands don't really get cold... to prove it he puts on his chains with no gloves. Bravo, bravo
hahah dude nothing like testing your hands than chains in the cold
what are chains?
Love seeing you absolutely shred the cottonwood's brother! So sick, let's goooo
haha shred is a loose term but thanks mark!
Yes, incorporate PJ tips. Your form held together very well with those bulldozer boards! I liked that Joe got out a shovel after skiing hard to help out in the parking lot.
thanks brad! gotta make sure everyone gets out of there safely.
The level of pow and stoke is ridiculous- what a day skiing - you are an absolute beast. Had some schedule changes been missing the livestreams :( but the content has been stellar as always. ❤🎉 ⛷️
haha thanks lucas. we miss having you in the streams but no worries man. actually gonna be streaming on tuesday this week
I was also there at the bird on Friday. Absolutely incredible day. Hit that same cliff towards the end, run leading up and away was gnarly.
Your videos make me love to ski bro. Keep it up my G.
i appreciate that man.
Your production keeps getting better. Like the soundtrack on this one!
thanks michael!!
Sure described it well how tough the visibility can be off the top of Snowbird’s tram when windy & snowing but that just makes the powder drifting off the ridges into the chutes better. 👍🏼liked your explaining the dynamics of your skis.
yup exactly! just gotta get off the ridge and its awesome
Thank you for making that trip Epic Legend of day ❤ it Thank You 🙏🏾 Get to see how it really is up there during storm Corrinda
thank you for watching
Wow time for more body shots Glad you're back at it so fast
yessir cant stay away
Looks like a all time pow day! What a great way to spend it at your favorite resort & with Papa Joe!! Keep up all the amazing vids!
appreciate you josh.
Good stuff again!!!
So happy you are having an epic year!!! I strongly recommend going to a yellow lenses on your goggle. WIll majorly help with snow terrain definition!
Trust me!
Happy lines to you Lucas!!!
Best,
Mo-
thanks morgan. zipline sent me just about every lens i could need. musta missed the episode where i talked about switching from a yellow lens to a clear
going there on wensday, wish i could ski like you! but Thanks
you can man! enjoy!
@@LucasCatania17 Thank you! My sister learned to ski in one day i'm almost there and i'm working on turning but im still scared. Do you think it is going to be bad on wensday?
Always love a Papa Joe video!
yup me too!
thank you for all the time and work you put into these videos, I love them!
thanks for watching them jack!
I’m so jealous of the snow UT has been getting. When I look at the radar in WA I keep looking down at your radar and it feels like everyday I look the wasatch you guys are blanketed. I’m jealous. Enjoy it. I love hearing the hoots and hollers.
its been so good man, heading up to the PNW soon
So bummed. I was up there ready to ski but had to leave because of canyon road closing - I had a flight later in the afternoon. Thanks for the vid
oh wow such a bummer man
another great vid man keep it up
thank you tommy!
Holy face shots!!!!
22 mins of Lucas and Papa Joe riding storm snow in LCC... yes, yes and more YES!!!! Just one small request for the next run on those amazing PONTOONS you are riding, I wanna see a butter 3 ;-)
Yewwww 🤘
haha dude i was honestly nervous to do a butter 3 because of the edge on the ski but i should try
Awesome terrain and footage, got me stoked for my PC trip this Fri - Monday. Will be rocking my Armada Declivity 102s..all mountains, they’ll have to do!
lets goo dude the declivity is a sick ski!
Awesome episode as always 🥸
thank you!
Absolutely love snowbird. Cant make it out this year as im recovering from an ACL tear, but nice to be living this pow day through you. Cant wait to get back, keep up the great vids
heal well man. snowbird will always be there
I was looking at the incline on Mach Schnell on Google Earth...The gopro doesn't do it justice. You are a mad man Lucas! Great video.
what does google earth show you?
@@LucasCatania17 Hey Lucas...if you go on Google Earth and check out the street view on the mountain.... You can click on the blue trail between upper and lower Mach Schnell and look at it like you were standing there. Very Steep. In general though...your videos are much better at this then other guys because you are always showing the terrain from different angles. Like on this video where you are taping your dad...you get a good feel because of the angle of the trees on the horizon.
SICK...!!! Stop by and give my love... to the Candelabra...!!
PC Jupiter Season 2 Episode 09 January 30th 2021. An early February post. Winter van life. Luna getting her feet. Chugging along. I think this was the one that "sold me" completely.
Great video enjoy watching each day
appreciate that dude
I've spent 11 days pow skiing the 2 canyons so far this year. Shaping up to be a great season. I used to ski a lotus 138 @ 200cm, reverse sidecuts are fun.
Lucas! Lovely video like always! Beautiful shots and music! Hope you're doing well! 🥰❤️✨🌈
thanks mimi!!
Bro you are definitely underrated, 🔥content btw.
thanks man. i think im pretty appropriately rated at this point though
I was definitely needing that.
Flying home today from Utah it was great! Keep up the great vids
awesome glad you enjoyed!
Good video like always!
thanks dylan!
Great video as alway @Lucas
.
thank you!!
I like your editing and music choices every time, I feel like I am skiing with you and it is great, wish to came in Utah 🤯
thank you!!
face shot slow motion always my favorite part, love these vids. - Also did u see my comment in the last video about suggesting YT shorts?
same haha
Sick video! Talked to a guy on the lift Friday he said he was the first car up the canyon. He had to get in line at 5:45 am😆
geez. getting kind of ridiculous out there haha
I read that Armada is planning to “lighten up” the ARGs. Looked like a lot of fun!
they do make a lighter version of them!
love your skiing~!! when i can do like u... thank you for your sharing ~!!! GREAT!!
thank you for watching!!
sickkkk vid
thank you!
This is the 3rd video I've seen with Joe in it skiing (I'm new to the channel), and he has had a different ski outfit in all three videos. I'm not talking he was wearing a different jacket/pants combo, I'm talking about a new pair of pants and a new jacket in each video! This dude is my hero!!!
The season of POW continues yewww!
no sign of stopping!
Awesome video! The amount of snow you guys are getting (I heard Mammoth has gotten more snow now than it did all last season), makes one want to come skiing in the US!
(Maybe next year if the vaccin requirements are dropped, haha!)
Trams are cool and fun, but when conditions aren't ideal, they really become a obstacle. In my resort of Åre, Sweden, we have a great tram, but due to windy conditions, its rarely open january-february. More of a spring thing. Wish we'd have a funicular to the top. Oh well.
Keep up the good work, good thing you guys didn't get stuck. We have studded winter tires in Sweden, which is very helpful in such conditions. :)
Love your videos
thanks spencer!
Powda 🤘🏻
pow pow
Another day in the Paradise of Pow ! More next week ! Let’s go !
yup! what a year
Papa Joe is always waiting for you at the bottom of the runs. #justbetter
gotta make sure he gets down safely before i drop
So sick! Wish I went to the Bird
bird is the word!
Sick vid dude!!
thanks dude!
YOU GOT A COOL dAD BRO
hes tha man!!
dude i can't believe how many pow days you have had this year, it seems like every video you getting insane face shots and deep pow!
also i have a youtube channel and i'm trying to post more frequently cheers lucas!!
seriously man! its been the best season of my life haha
Looks like some serious skiing! Send some snow over to Europe, struggling over here!
i heard man. thats such a bummer :/
Excellent video mate. Hope to see you in Fernie sometime soon.
will be there in feb.
@@LucasCatania17 Oh nice. We have a great base; ready for the storms. If there is a big dump in the area, I would consider checking out Castle Mountain too.
back at the bird!!! yewwww
yeww thanks dude
i am curious to know more about those skis.. just interesting how the 106s were stiff but the 116s and 121s were soft and now the 133s are stiff again.. i look forward to seeing you on them again..
the 121s are soft because they are made out of the caruba core which is a much softer wood.
@@LucasCatania17 cool
Sick video as always! Was at Snowbird the day after Christmas and the tram ran for about an hour before shutting down for the day for maintainence. Not sure what’s up
probably still figuring out the new trams!
Is High Baldy open? Will you later go over there to Fields of Glory and ..Memories? Some years they hold natl. freestyle competitions there and also, the Cirque using the cliffs to launch some awesome aerials.
high baldy was closed today unfortunately
Advice needed. My place at PCMR base by Wagle. Have epic but considering icon as well. Worried about the 5-7 day limit and total cost. Would mountain collective pass work as well? Thx in advance
Great video in the powder, any reason why you skied Snowbird over Alta?
Planks for sure ! How do you move around on those in packed snow at the lift lines ?
they actually were quite maneuverable haha
damn I missed you at snowbird lucas! I was wondering at the time if you were going to chase the storm haha.
damn dude was great up there!
Dude, it IS possible to have a bad day up at the Bird. I was there a few days later on January 3rd and can say the fog was so bad up over the top half of the mountain visibility was null. Wouldn’t have been so tough if there was some soft, fresh pow or groomed trails, but mostly the conditions were heavy snow and a LOT of chunder. It was easy to get tossed around. Looks like you had an amazing day though …. Wish I had gotten there a bit sooner. Keep crushin. ✌️
I used to live in SLC. Little Cottonwood Canyon is INSANE! It gets dumped on Fast and Deep! If you truly love skiing and can live without the high end (expensive) resort amenities Alta and Snowbird is for you.
yup LCC is no joke haha
Watching you ski has been a real help to my own skiing this year. You have great technique highlighted by the fact you always manage to stay forward on your skis even in the most narly terrain. Now when I'm skiing challenging stuff I keep telling myself: "Stay forward like Lucas!"
i really appreciate that man. always gotta keep the feet underneath you!
No, he goes back, you've got to go back, it's physics. You can only stay forward on piste.
Yesss cmon
yewwww
great run of storms there, wow - wonder what % of your viewers own multiple pairs of skis for different conditions? That is a luxury for sure
used to only have my JJ for the past 3 seasons. first time ever having multiple pairs.
Another great video Lucas! Your steep and powder skiing is improving so much. Your commentary at the end remind me how annoyed I get trying to get around the top traverses of Snowbird. I wish there was a 6 pack bubble lift to the peak instead of the tram. I assume Basin was closed for avy control? Why did you only use the tram?
We did a few on Peruvian and went up little cloud sometimes but it’s tough to beat the vertical you get from the tram. Mineral basin was closed all day. I’m not a huge mineral basin guys anyways though
🔥🔥
yewwww
Would you recommend the Armada JJ's for like an all terrain ski no matter the weather?
Absolutely not. The JJ is a powder ski
“JJ is essentially a GS ski now” 😂
hahah it feels like it is
Pretty soon you'll be riding snowboards on each foot.
Actually that would be funny to see. You would be the first to do it because I have never seen anyone try.
ha yeah. those two skis together were just about as wide as a snowboard!
I wish I could ski in snow like this on the east coast, right now at my local hill we have none.
thats a bummer dude. hopefully you guys get some snow soon.
@@LucasCatania17 hopefully I’m heading out west for the first time in a week. But your videos are always so cool.
wooooooooo
LG
haha lets gooo
can't even imagine a 130 underfoot, Then again I ski the East
haha yeah not the ideal ski for the east
Literally so jealous
dont be jealous man
ting ting wing
yeww
Hey @lucas Catania where did you get your webasto fixed at in salt lake? My heater is having the same issues as yours
I got the part of Amazon and just fixed it myself!
What part did you end up ordering if you don’t mind me asking?
@@brandongash8502 i bought a fuel filter, atomizer screen and glow plug. i have an espar heater not a webasto
Dude you have such great taste in skis. If you ever get the chance try and get your hands on an ON3P Jeffery 118
Amazing day. Keep papa Jo comments coming too. Where'd he get those pants?
the brand is picture i believe!
Was this Friday? I was on the Canyons side of Park City.
Best day I've had in several seasons
yeah friday!!
Do you know if any part of Colorado got this storm?
im not sure tbh
My advice is LCC will make you a great skier :D
absolutely!!
So 2 wheel drive, no chains? What’s the fine if you get stuck?
cottonwoodcanyons.udot.utah.gov/traction-law/
if you have 2wd, 3 peak mountain snowflake tires are required. chains are not.
Sure you say you're not a professional skier, but Lucas, you sure are a damn good skier in that pow!
i appreciate that dude!!
Awesome clips Lucas. I'm psyched for Utaaaaah! Will 105s be wide enough or should I leave them at home?
they should be good if we dont get any snow, but if we get a storm - i would prefer something wider.
@@LucasCatania17 great, thanks.
Yoo you gonna be @ pc or deer valley on January 26-30? I’m visting for the weekend
think im gonna be up in the PNW then
@@LucasCatania17damn, was really looking forward to trying to find you lol
Sick video dude! Let's film at snowbird sometime!!
always down dude!!
@@LucasCatania17 sweet I sent you'd a DM on Instagram. I couldn't figure out how to on YT
When you’re shouting your POV’s where do you have your GoPro mounted? I love put you can see all in front of you and your skis! Sick content bro!
thanks dude! i just have my gopro mounted on my helmet
Interesting to see Joe skis with a brace, just like me. Moguls (and basketball and football and age) will do that to you.
yup! joe has several braces he wears haha
Good edit, makes me want to try downhill, but I've avoided it due to the risk of knee injury... if you have any tips of the best place to build a centrally located (to all the best resorts) ski cabin in Utah to avoid the traffic, let me know. I've never really spent time in Utah in my life. I have no desire or need to be in or near a city. Thanks for the videos. I like when the letterbox comes in on the edit.
thanks man! you could always build a cabin in the cottonwoods, but then you are pretty stuck to that area
@@LucasCatania17 I'm going to build somewhere but not sure where, waiting out this current bear cycle... I'd like to be in an alpine setting with a lot of pine trees so I can get to the ski resorts easily I guess I just have to get there... was planning on Tahoe but California is so crazy with no gas cars no gas heaters crazy taxes, and crazy permit fees, etc... I don't want to drive 3 hours to get to the resort, I'll never do it then... I liked already being in Tahoe in Feb when the storms hit then nobody could get up due to weather and it would be empty, like I've been telling you is the best strategy for powder in Tahoe... I think if I'm in Utah it's the same distance from Ventura to Tahoe as Utah to Tahoe... Thanks and keep up the cool ski videos.
A trip coming up to Taos by chance?
nothing planned but its on my list
