the armada arg II is a reverse sidecut ski with a massive 133mm underfoot. these skis are about 6lbs each with a full rocker starting right in front of the toepiece. they are by far the best ski that i have used in fresh pow, but they do struggle doing just about anything else.
@@ADHski 133 is not that much, carving skis with 120 under foot go to about 145 at the tip which is a much bigger extreme at the place which makes no sense for any freeride.
Bumped into Lucas in the afternoon at DV, the ARGs are just massive but absolutely necessary with that much pow. Such a pleasure to meet Joe & Lucas, incredibly nice and humble people! -AJ
It's so cool to me that you've set up your life to where you and your retired Dad can rip double blacks together on a daily basis. I know things have been tough for you lately with Luna but keep up the good work. Still loving the videos and inspired by the work you've put in
The raw POV provides a new and exciting dimension to your videos. So glad you shared this with us. The terrain looks incredible and it's so cool that you get to experience it with your Dad.
All right getting pumped for some new fresh ski adventures and the epic season continues with great film.... Getting very excited just knowing I'm going to get a new shot at it ...let's go
these videos make me mad happy when I see ‘em. i always think about my time out west w my boys and remember that i live in the northwest where pow is non existent. thanks for makin these homie.
Love seeing raw footage bec now I can relate more to this type of skiing bec this is more like how I ski when in new terrain or conditions but feels less like real skier bec of all the stops and looking around, etc. Now we can see you don’t just send it all the time in all the conditions when watching the edited versions 🤪
Hey lucas! You should come down to bogus basin in Boise Idaho some time, they have somewhat hard terrain and awesome groomers, and incredible off trail as-well as a park with fairly large jumps. If you can anytime I would love to see a video about it!
Have you seen the massive extension to deer valley? Mayflower resort is a new resort just like deer valley that is leasing its land to the main resort. If you’re looking up at DV from the city, I think it’s to the left of the main resort boundary.
Awesome vid Lucas. I used my new ARG 2 UL last weekend and it was insanely fun. Its even more fun then my WW121. Because its so much lighter and quite a bit softer then the arg 2 its alot easier to use. It was also hilarious on groomers, which I actually enjoyed.
How are the ULs compared to the ARG 2 when things get cut up? Do they get bounced around and defected a bit because of the light weight or can you still charge pretty good with them? Thanks.
@@racesla You can definetly charge quite a bit. They are still very stiff, except in the end of the tips. But if its deep, heavy and chopped up, the regular arg might be better. But remember that the UL is 500g lighter per ski, so its definetly worth it I think. Also waaaaay easier to butter. Like buttering a JJ almost. And also its still 2250g per ski, so its not like its superlight, like the WW121 for instance. Also if you want to sometimes to 360s and 720s the UL is miles better. I did actually take a few groomer runs for the heck of it, and its also alot better then the regular arg. So easy to turn, and basically "surf" the groomers. But the tips flutter alot. But the groomers not the point of the arg anyway.
i was getting out of breath just watching you.. i went skiing and it was my 2nd time on my new skis and now that i am getting used to them they really are great.. i am noticing with these wider skis and by watching you is to space them out more.. when the tips cross it is really hard to uncross them..
I don’t live in Utah so wondering if it’s acceptable to squeeze through people without saying sorry and ok to bump skis and poles a little or do people get mad?
@@jonathanchao5067 I’m fine with it if it’s what everyone does. I’d be cool going full roller derby or staying in a nice line and only passing with lots of room while saying excuse me, pardon me good sir. Hardest part for me would be getting over people scratching my snowboard up.
On rope drops, it’s a free for all in my opinion. I don’t care if someone pushes me over, stabs me with their poles or runs over the back of my skis. I shouldn’t have to stay behind you if you’re slower or tired. Just my 2 cents.
@Lucas Catania I a from Austria and I really have to say powder skiing is way more fun here than in the states. I never was in the states before but it seems like that the pow is skied out pretty fast. If there is a big storm in Austria you could definitley ski untouched pow for at least 3-4 days if you are in the right resort. You definitley have to come to the Alps some time
@@LucasCatania17, I am sorry I expressed myself a bit wrong I did not mean that pow skiing in the Alps is more fun in any way. My thoughts were because in the states you can not just ski were ever you want the snow is skied up very fast in comparison to the alps. As we saw this season snow-wise (amount of snow) North America and Canada delivered tons. Here in Salzburg Austria, we had maybe 10 days that were really deep which is ok but nothing compared to this year in all areas in the states. As I am finished with school this year I am really looking forward to making a trip to Canada or North America next winter. Again I apologize for the wrong expression and in case i disrespected any one. Much love to your community!:)
@@maxirocki understand what you’re trying to say. I’ve only skied in Utah (where Lucas is currently skiing in this video) so my opinion only reflects what i see, and I feel like COVID really ramped up the amount of people skiing here. Before covid i can leave the house at 8am and be at the lift by 9am even on a busy day. But now I gotta leave at 6:30am for a pow day like in this video. And you’re right, you really only get 3-4 runs here before all the obvious fresh snow is gone.
Serious pow fever! Praxis Protest and Fatypus Irock for fat super surfy deep pow boards that can still get around the resort. Curious what vid editing software do you use? I'm hoping for something so easy even a lawyer can do it. Keep the stoke going!

133's my bad so nuts!
No, carving skis make you struggle on anything but solid surface. A wide tip is only bothersome unless you want to carve on solid surface.

Nice. Love that you constantly challenge yourself to get better! Epic season. Hope it never ends.
