    ------
I'm Rebecca Jane Brown, born 4th December 1992.
    Start: Sep 12 2007, 5395 days old
Last photo here: March 12 2014, 7769 days old.
I intend to do the project for as long as I can, it's still going.
    Q: Music?
    A: / amarantemusic
Big thank you to Amarante x
    Q: How many photos?
    -Project covers 2374 days.
    -Roughly 2100 photos.
    Q: Why are photos missing?
A: Most of the missing photos occur during the first 2 years. 7 years ago, I didn't have my own camera! I relied on a webcam attached to a PC that wasn't reliable and a mobile (which I took 50+ photos on that were lost, when I left the SD card in it when I ended my contract and had to send it back). Files have also gone missing.
Nowadays, cameras are everywhere and I have better technology to keep track of my files/backup.
There are days though, where I struggle to take photos, due to depression, suicidal periods or due to low self esteem caused by my marks and hair loss.
    Q: Trichotillo-what?!
A: Trichotillomania. It's a complex hair disorder, where I am compelled to tear it all out strand by strand. It's classified as an ICD (similar to OCD).
I end up with bald patches and thinning hair, most of which occurs on my crown and on the sides by my ears. So several million people get confused when from the front, I appear fine. I have another photo every day project that I've been taking, from the side, that I hope to post soon, when that reaches it's next anniversary.
    More information:
    / trichjournal
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichoti...
    www.trich.org/
(I also had Dermotillomania: Obsessive Skin Picking).
    Q: Shaved?!
A: At the time of each shave, I am roughly half bald, more so round the sides and back. By shaving the hair that is left, it stops me ripping out more and allows my head to heal from the latest pulling spree. It also gives the hair a chance to start again.
    Q: Are you cured now?
A: No, it's a life disorder, I still lose hair, but not on the same scale. Every day is a struggle not to revert back to baldness.
Q: Where does the smile go?
A: Life happens, Depression hit rather hard. I'm on the mend.
Q: Why does your hair keep changing, are photos out or order?
A: From 2011 onwards, I started wearing multicoloured wigs.
Q: How do you get yourself to stay in the same position?
A: I try to pose the same every time, and then I re-align every photograph in my video editor. Very time consuming - but it works
    Q: Dilated eyes?!
A: My pupils appear to dilate due to the lighting around me. Some photos are taken at night, some during the day and flash plays a part in those white sparkles!
Q: When did the puberty start?
A: Amazingly, this is a popular question. I started around 12, two years before this project started.
    Q: Sexual orientation.
A: Most people assume my orientation due to my hair (which is wrong and it's not good to reinforce stereotypes). I'm interested in men only.
Q: What colour are your eyes?
A: Light blue. This appears to change when I am subjected to different lighting conditions.
Q: When did you discover makeup?
A: I didn't use makeup properly till I was nearly 20. I also didn't use any products of any kind till I was 19 due to my skin irritation and lack of knowledge.
    Q: Photoshop?
A: Yes and no. 70% of the images have been colour corrected. HOWEVER, I do not edit any of the features and blemishes. The only exception is a few other faces, names and words that feature behind me, I've blurred them out.
    Q: Who inspired me?
A: Noah and Clickwhirr (who has removed her videos).
    Other people in the video:
Dad, Mum, Grandad, Tabby, Puss, Ginger, Sister, Brother, Sarah S, Robert C, Tyler D, Jim M, Alex, Jillian, Molly, Danny, Eve.
    Where were photos taken:
    2007/2008: bedroom/loft room.
2009: mainly in the bathroom and then across Europe.
    2010-11: mainly in the bathroom
    2011-12: Uni room/bathroom
    2012 Summer: Across NY
2013 onwards: London flat and out and about
    Cameras:
2007-08 Logitech 1.3 MP Webcam, Canon Digital IXUS 65, Nokia 6233
2008 Canon Digital IXUS 860 IS, Photobooth
    2009-12 Canon 400D, Photobooth, Ipods
    2013 onwards Canon 600D, Photobooth, iPhone 4S

There is an article out there at the moment, which is stating that this is cancer and that I've now died.
Well I haven't died, nor have I ever had cancer. I have had Depression and still have Trichotillomania.

      Hi ! ^^
I love your videos and comments.
I just had a question, and I really hope I will have an answer.
My best friend started to have trichotillomania when she was a bit younger, but now I think she really has it (by "really", I mean that it is very intensive). She is very stressed. She always snatches her eyebrows, and it is going very disturbing...
Do you have an advice to give her ? =3
An I would tell you that you're awesome, stay strong and stay who you are.
-Sorry for my bad uh.... no -_-very bad-_- English-

Beauty is more than what we see with the eyes.
People are more than their conditions.
I am more than my hair and skin.
This only shows my exterior, I hope that people will check out my videos to see more of the girl inside....
Watching this back is rather scary for me, it makes me both sad and happy at the same time. I'm not an exceptionally happy person and don't pretend to be. What I will say is, that when you see the smiles in this, especially after the baldness happens... those smiles are genuine. I'd rather look back and see a project filled with honesty, than seeing 2000 photos of fake smiles.
I truly do appreciate you watching this and also if you took the time to read the video description.
    Rebecca.

READ THIS BEFORE YOU POST A COMMENT ASKING ABOUT WHY SHE HAS SHORT HAIR!!!
Rebecca did not cut her hair short or shaved her hair off because she wanted to.
She has a mental condition called Trichotillomania which causes her to pull out her own hair. As far as I understand it gets worse when she is stressed, that's why she lost half her hair during her GCSEs. She shaved her hair off to both try to stop herself from pulling out her hair and to let her scalp recover from the damage.
Unfortunately the shaving did not help her stop pulling out her hair.
Now you know why and you don't need to comment with questions about it. Because it was starting to frustrate me and I can't even imagine being Becca and dealing with this.
Beckie, if you read this, I love you and you are so strong and beautiful no matter what, I know you want your long hair and I strongly believe that you will have it one day

i'm obsessed with this video. seeing all those years of achievements and hardships and growing up all condensed into a few minutes just makes me feel a little odd about life. and the music is excellently chosen, it fits so perfectly. i don't even know how to put into words how poignant this video feels to me!! i don't know whether it makes me feel happy or sad but it definitely makes me feel something. i look forward to the next one.

I have finished years 1-8 and just not sure what to do about the project. People are telling me that it's not worth uploading it - and to wait two more years till a bigger marker hits the horizon. It's also quite an odd time of year to push non-seasonal content. Just unsure what to do! Sorry about the delay. I have most certainly started year 9.

This video proves that anyone, no matter how happy they look, can suffer from depression. Please, anyone who reads this comment, if you have even the slightest impression someone isn't doing so great, just go to them and ask if anything's wrong, offer them a cupcake and give them a hug. Sometimes the cure to depression is just to have someone to talk about it. It doesn't really matter if it's someone close as long as you prove you care. Peace

Not unless you're seeing a doctor. The last therapist I saw wanted me institutionalized before they would give me anything. (I talked them down, but it's a big part of how they also forced me out of college for the time being). I've also only ever found a medicine that worked for the anxiety, otherwise, my cat keeps me relatively stable (he's an emotional support animal). Medicine is also ridiculously expensive. Even with insurance I was paying $15 every week or two weeks for like 10 pills. I can only imagine what it would have been without. (I live in the US, so our healthcare system kind of sucks)

The craziest thing about this video and videos like it is... we've only been able to do things like this for a short time in human history. Think about it: When else in the history of this species could you capture thousands of moments visually and compile them into a fluid transition AND THEN share that with 11+ million people. We live in a world where you can condense 6.5 years into 4 minutes and it's kinda beautiful.

If someone give me hope to stand up, the strength to fight again, the feeling to be someone and I can't give something back, then I feel guilty, like now.
You inspire me in ways I never seen before. Oh Beckie0 your heart is on fire, you are the brightest light in the sky and you have restored my faith in humanity
    I love you

Beauty cannot be counted, calculated nor quantified. It has nothing to do with how many years have passed, contests won or cup sizes. Beauty is an inner light that emanates from within our hearts and it is reflected in our eyes, and demonstrated more profoundly, in our actions.
I've been dabbling in stop motion art projects most of my life. I started doing it more seriously in 2009 when my little world came crashing in on me. It is my self therapy and happy place. It has guided me through the biggest changes in my life since 2008.
Your craft is wonderful, inspiring and a thing of beauty to watch. I hope you keep making videos, tap into your artistic centre and find a place of peace and tranquility.
You are an amazing young woman.

Without sounding overdramatic or anything, but the music along with staring at you and noticing all these events happening around you was really powerful, I couldn't help but cry at some point for a very unclear reason. I guess it was too overwhelming. But by the end of it I felt like I already know you.
You spilled your heart out and you're beautiful, I appreciate the life you've lived. Thank you.

I always come back to this video and I always get goosebumps. I read some comment saying this is scary but to me it's just breathtaking. The way depression takes over a person, I felt like I could see the suffer in your eyes. Gotta say - great choice of music. The song fits perfectly.

About 10 months or so ago I started doing this. I try to take a photo every day but ssometimes I forget to do so. I started on 21-10 (I believe) and 107 photo's right now. So that's about 1 photo each 3 days or so. But I am only 23 seconds into the video with each photo 0.15 seconds long. Deepest respect for you.

I felt through seeing your face over those 3 times or so you shaved your head the stress and pain of that time in your face. Your face started happy, became sad, and towards the end of the vid you look happier again. A general view over the long time period of course. Well done for putting it up ;) xx
