- A new drive-in movie theater in Hays County opens Friday, and the 33-year-old owner hopes to give younger audiences the same experiences he had when he discovered a drive-in in his teens.
Hope they succeed
I grew up going to the drive in when I lived in So Cal, and it was one of the best experiences I had as a kid. You bring your own snacks, hang out in your pj's, and just enjoy it while hanging out with friends and family. Also since our drive in always had a double feature, we got 2 movies instead of 1 that had not come out to vhs yet, thus giving us even more reasons to enjoy it.
They coming back folks and thank God......
Yes I love drive ins Myself I was raised on them in the 70s and beyond because they're the best
activities of the summer but really depends where You at up North only the summer but down South You can go to the drive in all year around except maybe January or possibly February but March & beyond You can!
Rambo is a cool flick what's so funny? This guy's been living in the a cave, never been to a drive in? Drive ins are still around and loved!! Great to see a new drive in. Edit, there's over 300 drive ins still open sleeper's lol
Genius idea with the shipping container screens and projection booth
No no no this is a real built Drive In not those "portable pop ups" people put up (and for car shows smh) just for summer and take them down in fall. Were you watching? Otherwise this isn't a real drive in.
@@m42037 I know. I was appreciating the simplicity of it vs building a structure for it.
I think he is right. The movie theatre is dead. Seriously, who wants to go to a movie theatre. No one!! Since COVID hit we want our own space. Nuff said.
Well, let's hope this starts a new renaissance for drive in theaters. I heard many stories from my older brother going to one of these when he was a kid. Not to mention with this pandemic going on maybe drive in theaters may be more preferable.
Cool im coming ‼️‼️‼️ Southern California back in the day ✌🏼😀✌🏼
There is one near my apartment and it is only opened weekend in May and in the early fall and every night during the summer. It was built during the 1950’s.
Awesome!!!!
I go to the drive inns all the time here in san jose ca last movie i seen was the rise of skywalker for 8$ with the best seat
Do they show one Movie? They used to play 2 for the price! Anyway the Drive in Movie us the best!
Get rid of the smartphone!! Bring back the drive in theaters!!
yeah ok
You can keep the smartphone but bring back the drive in theaters why they left in the 1st place too Amerikans to historically begin with I rather for Walmart to be replaced by the drive in theaters the same way that they replaced the drive in theaters with Walmart some years ago
enjoyed!
We have two now in our area, one in Southern Indiana, the other in Kentucky, remember very well going to the drive ins
There's about 20 drive ins in Indiana
What state and city is this drive in located at ? What year and month did it open ?
Near Austin Tx
Buda.
With the Coronavirus right now, this sounds pretty idea.
If you can guarantee that people will stay in their cars.
I wonder if it's still open? anyone know. Anyone been to see a film here?
Wonder if it's still in business, despite the pandemic. 🎭
Visalia, Ca. Sequoia Drive in $5 a car load, (40 years ago) best teenage memories.
Welcome.
The screen is small in relation to the distance
Dreamt a outside movie theater 40 50ft wide at work shop in la vernia but glory was coming outside the frame don't know if it was a portal but saw many Christians walking towards it and other Christians sitting down in the back.
What kind of Epson projector is that?
It's not a theatre projector, that's for sure. It isn't secure; it cannot play DCI encrypted content, so he won't be showing anything but home DVDs and Powerpoint. This is a pretend drive-in.
@@pegbars well, they've been showing pretty much everything. From Back to the Future to The Invisible Man, and have been doing really well from what I've seen on their fb page. They're obviously doing something right, and the pictures I've seen, it looks like their projection is pretty good.
Hell Yeah I wanna watch a movie in a parking lot!!
You obviously don't have a clue.
How do I get in touch with this man?
Which state?
Texas
Buda, TX
Did he rezone from Agricultural use to Amusement and Entertainment? There's no mention. As far as I know, Agricultural does not allow outdoor theatres.
nostalgic shipping containers
I don't hold much hope if they are playing 30-year-old films that most people would have seen. Probably on a telephone for free!

Hell Yes, that's a no brainier! People will come in droves! Bluetooth technology will make bringing sound to cars so easy instead of those crappy speakers hanging on your windows. LOVE IT!
Those crappy speakers are cool and also nostalgic, your missing the point. Only reason they're not around anymore it's cheaper to dial your radio
@@m42037 I agree and when I went to a drive in I always used those speakers since I was always afraid of my car battery dying and actually sometimes if the windows are open half way on peoples cars you can hear the other speakers too so it kinda has the surround sound effect a little. Now I haven't been to a drive in for nearly 30 years but it's on my bucket list to visit one before they all close especially here in Minnesota where they are only open in the summer months here
@@bretthibbs6083 Well nostalgia is in, even some clothes from the 70s are back in style. I'm in Michigan there's only a couple here but in Ohio and Indiana there's a lot, Google says there's over 300 drive ins still open in America
Please stay safe And don't get caught And don't get arrested And put in jail or prison because of course that would not be a Good thing for you guys And thats The Truth of The matter of fact because of course that is what i AM wanting to happen about The stay safe And don't get caught And don't get angry And don't get arrested.
Is back
me too movement . asking for trouble
Mostly families go to #DriveIns today. Besides, your assertion is ridiculous.

@@dxsolate Is that anything like *awesome?
Wait, his projector is an epson? How is he going to fill up that screen with an epson projector? They only have like 3000 lumens.
I wondered about that! It's not LIKE 3000 lumens, it really is! That's almost a home cinema projector. Great on a 12 ft screen.

with the tvs that are out, and all of the streaming services, I want nothing to do with this. Rather be at home. Period.
