    Making a drive-in or backyard theater is possible as long as you have the space and your local government regulations allow for it. In this video, we build our own drive-in movie theatre for our personal use.
    First we build the frame for the screen. By building a screen, instead of purchasing one, we could determine the size we wanted. After the frame was erected, we attached the material used for the screen. Next we chose the equipment needed to run the movie and send sound to the vehicles. As there is no power in that part of the yard, we purchased a generator and created housing for it.
    00:00 Intro
    02:02 Step 1 - Location, framework and screen
    07:30 Step 2 - Equipment and power
    09:11 Step 3 - The movie-going experience

    That is just...WAY COOL!!! I remember family times at the drive-in theater. It was fun. Mom would always fry up some chicken and fix a few easy-to-eat side dishes for a picnic supper. There would be a big bag full of popcorn; a cooler with pop; and some snacks. And us kids would have our pillows and a blanket for the back seat because we wouldn't last long after supper. Brings back some great memories!!

      I agree- so much fun. There used to be the sound piece that sat on the drivers side window before they pumped sound through the radio. And the back seat watchers always tried hard to see over the people in the front.

      Did you ever wonder just how many of those car speakers were lost when cars forgot about them in the window and drove off without removing them? LOLOLOLOL...

    I built one as well! In the woods behind my house in SC. I was great! We even hooked up a x-box and played Grand Theft Auto! I also had two complete sets Drive in Theater Speakers. I hard wired all my equipment in my building and had a table for my Projector. I used a scrap price of Multi Conductor cable ( Phone line ) under ground for the Audio and Video. Also had Side lights as well!

    What a cute little drive in. My dad owned 3 regular theaters back in the day, The biggest one held 1500 cars, covered MANY acres and had 2 snack bars!

    That is a really neat project (makes us want to build one somewhere on the property). The projector sounds good for the outdoor application and really neat that you figured out broadcasting to the car stereo just like a real drive in!

    The next time you paint the screen, before the paint dries, put some glass beads over the paint. This will make the projected light be much brighter. Will ave able to see the movie ten times better.

    • @lesliemccauley2003
      @lesliemccauley2003 2 роки тому

      Mr Hubbard, your comment intrigues me. Interested in building my own, your idea about glass sounded good but won't it hurt the integrity of the picture. Please respond. I'm novice so whatever you say will be more than I know. Thank you 😊

    • @jerryhubbard4461

      @@lesliemccauley2003 When then lines on the road are painted, just after the paint goes down, another nozzle sprays glass beads. If you have ever gotten close to a motion picture screen in a theatre, it too is covered with glass beads to make the light reflect back and keep the picture from looking dull.

    I love everything about this video except your math skills. I'm not quite sure how the forty steps of drawing a plan, buying lumber and materials, staking posts, hammering, screwing, leveling, sawing, hanging board, and painting, can count as "one easy step" 🤨 But this was fun to watch and super informative. 🤣

      The projector was 600, the paint and screen boards and lumber was about 500 and the generator 900. I already had the shed that housed the projector. That’s all in Canadian dollars. Hope that helps, take care and thanks for watching 😀

    • @HomeNorth
      @HomeNorth  Рік тому

      We reused a lot of wood from other projects and of course the prices of things were cheaper when we built this. I think we spent about $3000 including the projector and generator.
