Awesome! Thank you for sharing such useful information.
My pleasure!
Thanks for you're advice.
It really helps us out.
Glad to have helped. Good luck with your event.
Thank you!
You're welcome!
I bought an inflatable 20 foot movie screen for my house. Do I personally have to have a permit to use my screen in my own yard.
Hi Paul thanks for all of this helpful information. My question is do you always show free movies or do you charge admission?
The majority of my clients show their movies for free (licencing is still required)
@@PaultheOutdoorMovieGuy Thank you Paul for being so helpful and responding back. Happy Holidays and once again thank you so much.
Hi Paul, how cost movies if we shown movies for 10-20 people on villas?
If everyone is wearing Silent Safaris group wireless headphones tuned into the movie, how would that go?
SIlent Cinema (as we like to call it) is a blast.
You mentioned the stuff like Disney, marvel etc, most of which are handled by those two companies.. do they handle other things as well like old B-movies, horror movies and stuff like that also for theater showings?
Depending on the movie. Check Swank catalog. Smaller film producers may be in control of their own content. Some older movies may not require licensing (which may include some older B movies). The information provided in the video is for non theatrical screening (not in a standard movie theater).
what about personal backyard but without charging anyone who comes to watch
I ran across your channel I would like to open a Drive Inn Movie Theater in my state how can I do that
Oo thanks. I've been looking at buying license for sharing movies online like on places such as Rec room (Which is an online virtual world game).
Do you perhaps know the rules behind thing like that or where I can start looking into something like that?
Check with Swank. They license Cruze ships, busses (coaches etc), they may also license a new market like you speak of. However, with all the online streaming services, as it is an internet based way of viewing media, it may be considered in the same category and they would not be able to help.
I was wondering some of these indoor and outdoor theaters show movies by hooking up a bluray player and showing movies instead of renting a hard drive movie to their projector is it legal to do that ?
After you have obtained licencing you can play any legally obtained copy of the movie.
You say as long as its at the home there is no licensing required. If i charge for equipment and set up, then in that instance the liscensing wouldnt be necessary if im the my clients private property (their home?)
At that point you are an equipment rental provider and not providing the actual movie. If however, it is a large event (school\corp event etc) being held at a private residence, then they would probably require licensing.
What about showing movies at a private event outside the home at a private event not open to the public?
If its outside of your property you will probably need a license if you are screening to a large group of people..
I’m have a few questions about showing movies on private land collecting suggested donations.
I’m in a small town in East Tx…
I’d love to talk on the phone for a few minutes if possible?
I can send you a small donation for your time too!
this is the first video I've seen regarding licensing for movie showings. So private backyard movie rentals will need to get licensing for each event? that seems to be more than the rental If someone wanted to host a movie night at their house (backyard), for me to take my equipment, set up and charge the for the rental, are you saying I would need separate licensing every time I do so?
Depends on the situation. Someone's backyard movie night with close family normally would not need a licence. However if this is a large group (say for a fundraiser) they may require licensing.
Thank you
@@PaultheOutdoorMovieGuy is there a specific number?
How do you handle a public showing where the client refuses to get licensing? Do you still do the show and if so, how do you protect yourself legally, if the show got reported?
Educate your client, have language in your contract.
Do you know what kind of permits/licensing to serve food, like hotdogs, nachos, and popcorn?
Each state, county and city has their own set of rules when it comes to food.
Is the licensing for a certain period of time or just one day?
Most are just for one day.
Can I get a movie license but host the actual event in the Caribbean? Side note: I can legally host or start an outdoor theatre on my own property in this region.
I have an inquiry into a couple of companies that may know the answer for your region. When I get an answer I will let you know.
@@PaultheOutdoorMovieGuy thank you so much Paul!
@@sashascaribbeankitchen8835 I heard back from one of the USA based companies, they said. "the Caribbean is a pretty vast region, with many different governing bodies; US, British, Dutch, etc." So it would depend on which area you are in.
@@PaultheOutdoorMovieGuy thank you for keeping your promise of reaching back out to me …
@@sashascaribbeankitchen8835 Public Performance licensing for the Caribbean is done via Film Bank.

They should be able to help you out.
I want to do backyard movies with people i might not know but on my property and without charging a penny. Is it legal? in Nepal?
You should check with the licensing authority in your country.
Is the licensing only for public spaces?
Any space, outside of your home may require licensing.
If I own the movie I'll be screening do I still need the license?
Owning a movie does not give you the rights to exhibit it publically outside the home.
@@PaultheOutdoorMovieGuy Thank you!
So when it rains what do guys do?
If your event gets canceled due to rain, let the licensing company know. You will get one year to repeat the event.
