Have had these tyres on a couple of my GSes. Currently running a Tourance next 1 on the front and a 2 on the rear. Have around 7500 miles on them and the rear is just starting to square off. The 7500 miles included a 4300 mile trip from Northern Ireland to Dubrovnik through Holland, Germany, Austria and Slovenia. Returning through Italy and France. Great tyre in both dry and Wet conditions
I just purchased a 2022 R1250GS and plan to replace the 50/50 tires with Metzler Tourance Next 2. Your reviews are very helpful and have been my "go to" source for anything BMW. Much appreciated!
Just fitted these to my 2021 GS TE from Anakee's which it came with, changed at around 5,700 miles and so far have done around just over 300 miles and LOVE them. Corner confidence / lean angle has hugely improved. I can't say that I personally notice any road noice difference, perhaps slightly. I would definitely recommend them too.
Just ordered a set to replace my OEM Battlax tires on the 1250 GS. Never been a fan of them, and had the Next 2s on a rental bike I rode all through Morocco last fall on mountain twisties in high winds, 130 kph on crowded highways and some gravelly back roads - inspired confidence all around. Looking forward to the new tires. Thanks for the video!
Echo a few others... Had the Tourance Next before replacing them with Next 2 and they are superb. KTM 1190 Adventure, OEM tires were Conti Attack Trail, which weren't bad at all, but squared off terribly and eventually led to disconcerting cornering. Replaced with Next at 8,500ish, which turn in slightly quicker which was a nice improvement. They didn't square off as quickly and delivered relatively even wear throughout their life but eventually squared off toward the end at 9,500ish, but didn't exhibit the unnerving twitching in the corners that the OEM Attack Trail did. Never felt inclined to burn of the chicken strips. Replaced with Next 2, which have done 5,000 so far and have even wear across the entire surface, excellent. Chicken strips gone, grippier. Still good in the rain but I don't push it. I've since changed bikes to a Ducati MTS V4 and look forward getting rid of the Scorpions and replacing them, they're not bad but the Next 2 on the KTM are quieter and feel grippier. As don't go off road, I will consider the benefits of Next 2 vs Sportec M9 RR too as I have those on my MV and that is the next level in grip.
Lots of opinions. Here's mine. Living on a dirt road in outback South Australia, and riding a 2014 dl 1000 v strom, tyres are an expensive necessity. That's because it's a long way to anywhere from here. Vast open distances in a straight line kills tyres fast. With zero corners anywhere, The back tyres wear out square in the centre, and the fronts wear out the right side to the camber of the road I have kept my old dl 650 when I upgraded. I always used the original tourance on that for the first 150,000km. When I got the 1000, I decided to try out the next 2. The first rear tyre survived for 9,000km. The front was hardly marked in the same distance, so I fitted a second rear. Another 9,000km later, and both front and rear have now reached replacement. So, what do I think? They are most definately the best tyres for how and where I ride, but they cost a lot more than other brands. I switched to shinko 705 on my 650. They are half the price, and still last almost as long as the Metzler. They are fine on the dirt, but on tarmac they aren't as planted or as quiet as the Metzler. So, today I will set off to my favourite bike tyre shop 6 hours away, and hand over cash for my new set of next 2s because I reckon they are worth every cent. At the end of the day, tyres are the only thing keeping you upright, so I think you can't risk the consequences of buying tyres for their price instead of their safety. Happy trails
I had these for about 10k km on my Tiger 900 GTP, and I loved them in the dry. These were OK in the wet, but I felt that the Continental Trail Attack 3 was much more confidence inspiring in the wet. Now I've swapped to a GS and this came with Michelin Road 5 trails and they feel similar to the Tourance Next 2. Will likely swap to the Trail Attack 3 when the time comes.
I traveled 17,000 km with the Africa twin ADV 2022 model and had to change it due to a split in my rear tire. During this period, these tires did not fall out of line even once and I was very satisfied, for this reason I bought a second set. Metzeler tourance Next 2 I think I can say it's the best in this regard.
I rate mine very highly , although some folk say they are not very good in the wet! I think they are very good in the wet AND dry and have had no issues with them. Great tyre👍
Changed over to these 500 miles ago from the factory supplied Anakee Adventures, difference is night and day in terms of confidence and road noise which has reduced dramatically. Thanks for the recommendation, couldn't be happier. 👍
I haven't used those tyres but on my 2021 GS Rallye with 59,000kms I have used the original Anakees, 2 sets of Metzeler Roadtec 01s, 1 set of Road 6s and I currently have a set of Trailmax Missions on. All tyres have been good, most average 10,000kms but the Trailmax are a standout. They have 15,500kms on them and are nowhere near worn out. They also steer and hold a line the best of all of the tyres. They are extremely stable, quiet, haven't slipped on me yet and are generally brilliant. I used them on a recent 14,000km ride part way around Australia and they are a very good long distance tyre. It's always interesting to hear different riders rave or criticise different tyres. Overall, the average tyre available these days is far better than the average rider and only a very small percentage would go anywhere near using all of the potential of their tyres. We are spoilt rotten with choice :)
I ´m currently riding my GS 1250 with stock tires(battlax) and pretty certain I will switch to these Metzeler tires. Thanks for the review and hope you had a delicious barbecue 🍖👨🏻🍳 Marc, Quebec, Canada 😉🏍
Replaced Mich Anakee 3 and then Metz Roadtec 01's with these, after 3000 miles on the GS I can't fault them. Living in the NE of England, in the dry they can really be hustled on tight twisty roads, (Hartside Pass, Wales, Lakes, Scotland, Ireland), and very confidence inspiring in the wet. A very wet at times 5 day Ireland trip on these posed no issues whatsoever, I honestly road as normal, they leave a nice dry line on the road proving they do their thing very well. Unless they update these I'll be sticking with them.
Hoping my New R1300 GS comes with these fitted I have told the dealer he needs to make it happen as My 1250 lost out on the Tyre lottery as it arrived with Michelin Ananke ADV tyre's, I personally do not like Michelin Motorcycle tyres from years of riding and bad tyre experience, I tried them hated them and swapped for Metzeler Roadtech 01's within 300 miles the Metzeler's were night and day.
By the sounds of it a great improvement on the last design which wore trapezoidal on the front and were horrendously noisy on the Tiger 1200. Worth a look for my next tyre as the Anakee Adventure’s on my current GS don’t instil too much confidence in the wet.
Had my new 1250GS for a couple of months, it came with Bridgestone A41's. My only issue is the amount of road noise (roar) from the front on certain road surfaces, was considering changing to Michelin Road 6's but now watching this video with interest.
Hey thank you for a nice review. Any update on the performance, specifically wear? Im currently looking for new set for my honda CL500 and im considering metzlers and michelin road 6
Hey. Er lige kommet hjem efter at have kørt ca. 4000 km på 7 dage....DK, D, A, SLO, I, D and DK. Adskillige bjergmassiv (dog ikke i DK😊). Jeg fik sat Metzler Tourance Next 2 på inden turen og de har været gode - osse i de 2 times regn vi fik på hele turen. Jeg er tilfreds med dækkene😊
Now that you’ve had these on the bike for a decent amount of time what’s the current review? Would you buy again, or do you hanker for something different?
Hi. Just returned from a mini tour of the Normandy Landing Beaches. Dry and wet weather(not much) and the tyres were great, as they have always been. Loaded up with my SW Motec Trax hard cases, didn't even know they were there, as I chucked it around the roundabouts. Stable as anything and NO drifting to the left, like my previous tyres. Absolutely brilliant tyres.....but that is just my opinion .
Yes I believe so, they were on the 1300 I looked at the other day. Hoping to take it out tomorrow ,so long as is not raining and blowing a gale like it was on Saturday when I should have taken it out 🙈
I really enjoyed the R6's and thrashed them as best I could, with no moments...I have only had the Next 2's on for a few hundred miles and early days , buy very impressed so far. They did give me quite a bit of grip when I played on the gravel section, which impressed me. Always been a Metzeler fan boy, had them on my gsxr's and fireblades when I tracked them. My Speed Twin 1200 now has the M9RR's on them, so looks like I am now a Metzeler fan boy again.😂
I have literally returned from 1500 k ride on mich road 6 superb tyres no sign of wear at all after 90% time autovía in rain and 35 c temperatures 👍 but always interesting to hear other people experiences 👍
Had them on two of my GS Adventures, i cant wait for my Bridgstones to wear out so i can put another set on, absolutely love the Metzelers.

i am riding with karoo4 now.. my next tyres will be Metzeler Tourance Next 2 ,,well done Metzeler 🛵🏍

Got 10000kms and they are still fine, great tyres in all weather.
Good to know, thanks for posting.
Just placed an order for these for fitting on Saturday to my 800DE. Just done over 3500 on the stock Dunlop mixtours and cant wait to change!!
They are still going strong and no pulling to the left 👍

Sounds like a very tough environment to ride in, thanks for sharing your experience.

As they say, choices, choices choices. Appreciate your input 👍
what's your second choice? I can't find tourance next or trailmax missions in my country
I'm considering the same on my 1250 GSA. nice video.

They should become less noisy with wear and the front usually takes longer to wear in.
I have them on my GS Adventure, and I can't wait for them to wear out so I can put Metzelers on.!!
The weather is sh*t but your countryside is really awesome :)
Hey thank you for a nice review. Any update on the performance, specifically wear? Im currently looking for new set for my honda CL500 and im considering metzlers and michelin road 6
Hi. Really pleased with the Next 2's, dry and wet weather . I would recommend them and will fit them again when I need to.
Thank you for all great videos, how do these tyres holding up compared to the Michelin road 6?
Sheers from Sweden
Really liking them . 👍👍
Loving the gloss screen protector on the TFT, where is it from, mate?
My question: Do you recommend buying the Metzelers or the road 6 for my GS 1250? Thanks& happy new year! Marc, Quebec, Canada 🇨🇦 😉🏍 🌨️🥶
Brrr cold in Quebec 🥶. I would definitely put the Next 2’s on the Gs again for mostly road use 👍
i can't find tourance next 2 in my country. so my only choices are anakee adventure and battlax AT41. which would you pick ?
I would ask on the BMW forums where they have riders with way more tyre knowledge than me !
The tyres work well on my KTM890 Adventure

Hi, what pressures are you running on the Tourance Next 2 tyres? Thanks
I run them as per the BMW manual. 2.5/2.9 bar when cold
Where is that lovely coast road ? Thanks
Island of Jersey 👍
thanks @@gsd32i
Can you use these tyres with a mudsling or is it different for a gsa
I have these with my mudsling still on. No issues
Are these the same tires coming on the new R1300GS?
Yes I believe so, they were on the 1300 I looked at the other day. Hoping to take it out tomorrow ,so long as is not raining and blowing a gale like it was on Saturday when I should have taken it out 🙈
That's off road for a GS anyway🤣 Can you check the side wall of the Next2 and see if they are still made in China? thanks.
Germany 😂
@@gsd32i Thanks, some old style tourance were made in China, quality wasn't as good.
