I have the R1250GS ralley 2022 with not quite 2000 kms on it and have no vibration coming through the bars. Gear assist works fine above 3rd and keeping the revs up and no revs on the way down as explained by the bmw sales rep. Didn’t need to rev it that high to get smooth gear changes. No tingling whatsoever. By far the best bike I’ve owned.
Really enjoy your videos. Appreciate the insight on the tires. I have a mostly identical bike. Do not know what causes the grip tingle but mine was solved with Grip puppies. I only have about five years of experience, but for me, hand tingles are always related to my posture, my lean or lack of lean towards the handlebar, and the angle of my elbow. I’ve ridden a parallel twin, a triple, a 4 cylinder and now a GS.
New R1250 GS TE Exclusive (2019) rider - I have also been surprised by the tingle in the throttle hand, not something I have seen many comments about from all the fan-boys/girls. Had my bike about a month or so and done 1,000 miles. Certainly notice the tingle when riding progressively (not as fast as you, I might add) but when you are accelerating, braking, accelerating again...... etc. But a quick bit of cruise control for a minute or so, and then fine again. Also, it seems to be easing a bit. Either I am getting used to it, or the bike is bedding in (it is a verylow mileage bike - only got 2500 on the clock. Will be fitting Road 6s as soon as I need to change.
Haven’t had the issue since the bar end weights . Great bike just hauled the wife and luggage to the Brecon Beacons in Wales still went really well and made me smile , even 2 up .my road 6 rear has squared off terribly as my service technician told me when I collected the bike from its 12 month service a few days ago . Need to change the tyres but won’t be putting road 6’s back on again the front veered to the left either in France or Uk …. before the rear had squared off , so the search begins again . Great tyre the road 6 … but !
Excellent vid. Had two sets of R5’s on my Ducati MS, just fitted new R6 and first ride they were absolutely brilliant. Thanks for a great vid, ride safe.
what a fantastic video of your trip. You going through the twisties was fascinating with your head position like a praying mantis. It looked cool the head turn.
Nice little spin. I hope to do some of France next summer. I've a 1250GS on order for Jan delivery. I'm currently selling my 800GS to help fund. I'm looking forward to the new bike. I used to get tingles in the fingers when I had rings or watch on, or my grip was too tight. I now take off rings and watch, and just relax my grip a bit. That has solved the issue for me. Being aggressive on the bike does cause you to grip tighter. ;-) Those Road 6's look good and are definitely on my list for first change.
Got the exact same bike except cast wheels, no vibes on the hands although I fit grip puppies to all my bikes, no high speed wobble and the quick shifter gets better as the miles go up, currently on 4K miles and works well 2500 revs and up, seemless up and down gear changes now, same height as yourself and this is the first bike I haven’t changed the screen on, it’s spot on for me, oh and never had a numb bum even on a 7 hour trip, you’ll need to mould yourself to the bike I think. One thing I agree on is the bloody noise up the fork tunnel, ridiculous. Safe biking, enjoy.
Thanks, it really is a great bike, not full on 1000hp like people want but its fine for me and makes me giggle. Just come back from a Sunday morning ride out with my local bmw dealer, even riding slowly its an absolute joy for such a big bike. ride safe 🤪
I have found that using solely high octane fuel results in a harder combustion on my 1200RT (2012) and therefore more vibration through to the handlebars with the increased likelihood of hand tingling (white finger). Using a mixture of E10 95 octane fuel and higher octane in the tank (75/25 ratio, using Tesco Momentum ) gives a smoother combustion burn whilst at the same time giving a crisper / more responsive throttle response that one hopes to achieve when using higher octane fuel. Note that not all higher octane brands are the same, for example BP Ultimate is just 97 octane whereas Tesco Momentum and Esso Synergy you get a higher 99 octane, therefore if using BP Ultimate I have found a ratio of around 60/40 to works well.
The tingling is a typical thing I believe. I still have it myself at times, and lots of people i know riding the gs have it. (and only on the right handle bar) A simple hack is to put foam covers over the rubbers it seems. However the more you ride the more you also get used to it. Me I prefer the tighter throttle control over the softer foam covers, so I have to ride more ;)
Great little trip, Personally I don’t believe there is flex as such in the spoked wheels, I suspect they are considerably stronger than the cast alloy versions!
Give the Continental Trail Attack 3's a try on your 1250 GS next. Will be interested in what you find. Running Road 5 GT's on my '22 1250 RT, and burning up the set of stock Anakee Adventures on my 2023 1250 GS Trophy still... at 4500 miles. Both bikes will give my right hand the tingles. I ride more for MPG's and touring, less for sport.
lmao tingley palms lol, ive ridden 18000 KS half way round OZ lol, bike has given me no probs at all , best bike ive ever ridden easy to maintain ,clean , work on , ive got the 21 GS Rallye an awesome bike 🙂
Great video, I use Michelin 5s find them brilliant had a chat with the tyre bloke he suggested that for my use 5s are totally adequate can upgrade too 6s but I've been extremely impressed with the 5s just changed 2 weeks ago same again got 9300 miles sx1000 back still had plenty of life front was shot to bits enjoyed the review 👍
I fitted Grip Buddies (texture like shark skin) rather than Grip Puppies, they increase the weedy diameter of the standard grips too. Also Evotech bar end weights..no issues at all now with tingling fingers after a spirted ride. Takes a little longer for the heat to soak through when heated grips switched on is the only downside.
Awesome day trip to France and shakedown run for your beautiful GS. I wonder if having the trunk on the bike without the saddlebags caused the bike to have a higher speed shimmy and also have something to do with the tingling in your hand.
No idea. But was stable as, when riding less progressively . it is a big lump of a thing at the end of the day. no slippery fairings and all that stuff.
Nice video, thank you. You mentioned “vibes”…sorry, I assume you refer to vibrations in the handlebars? (Live in the US, so just checking 😂). I have a 2023 GSA rally, get slight vibration in my left hand, don’t notice while I’m riding…just when I stop 🤷🏼♂️. My bike does have Metzler Karoo’s, could have an impact possible. Anyways, thanks again for the review.
Hi, Lovely video’s. Watching them from The Netherlands. I’ve got the exact same bike, except for the wheels, mine has got the black-spoke-variant with since this week also the Michelin Road 6. My bike was delivered on bridgestone tyres. They make also a lot of noise. About the tingling, I am also getting a tingling righthand when driving with my summer airflow gloves on the highway.
Always a bit of a topic in France. I believe it's an against the law but they are having a trial period which has been going on for a number of years. I couldn't be bothered some of the time to filter so just sat there and listened to my music. Have a great weekend.👍
I've had the rallye screen on a 2017 GS and and 2019 GSA. Found it works best in the lowest setting. This produces clean air but takes the weight of the wind of you for high speed motorway riding. I note you have it raised. That didn't work for me and generated turbulence. Rode to Lisbon and back from London with it no probs. So much nicer in traffic (better vision), looks better and is somehow more fun.
Got a wunderlich marathon 2 on my 2020 adv pretty much zero buffeting or windflow, got a wrs rally screen on it on the moment for the summer in the lower position and nice clean air, gives the bike a different more aggressive feel as well it just feels more sporty. In the raised position the rally screen buffets as you say.
Came across your channel and loving the videos. Can’t wait to see your trip abroad. The only thing or niggle I have is sometimes the music your playing as background music while you are talking is very loud Be good if you could drop that back more while you are speaking. But awesome content thank you 🏍🏍
Had problems with the microphone . I think my gopro 8 overheated 🥵 and had a melt down ! Hence some of the audio was quiet and not really that “clean” hence the raised music level to kind of mask it . Thanks for taking the tine to comment 👍👍👍
Great video's I have the same bike inc spoked wheels. I'm a big fan of the Metzler Roadtech's 01had them on the GS1200 and all previous bikes going back to 2016. The 1250 came with Anakee's tried them they were ok but not for what they are a 90/10 tyre. Went to my tyre fitter and he persuaded me to try the Road 6. They have been on the bike approx 2k miles. I have to admit I'm not a fan they are noisier the front has lost grip on several occasions in both dry and wet conditions and do not inspire me with confidence in the corners. I will be changing to Metzler in the near future.
Your welcome. I did ride the xr didn’t like the buzz through the bars . Where I live we have a low speed limit right at the speed where the buzz is…. So it would have driven me nuts . Very nice bike and lovely quick shifter😊
Tingling hands , put foam grips on makes such a difference. Just noticed your clutch brake reservoir caps are they standard or extras ? Ride safe dude 💪
Can I just say that the GS has a "gear shift assist" as BMW call it not a quick shifter, it is useless in 1st & 2nd but can be used up and down in all gears at all revs and speed from 2nd onward. I think since you got off treasure Island you were like a kid on blue smarties, but at least you enjoyed it. Get Evotech bar ends they look better and work very well.
I have a triple black GSA at the minute, i am certainly interested in the Africa Twin sport adventure and trying the DCT also a big fan of the apple carplay. How does your gs compare to the Honda.
I had the older 2017 AT. To be honest i wish i could have kept it, its is such a great machine that will appreciate in value . The gs is so much fun that i should have sold my ktm 890r and kept the AT !! Oh well . 7 years ago i said to my wife that my new fireblade was my last new bike ever ! 3 bikes later here we are . I rode the new AT in the uk on the honda adventure experience , the tubed tyre off road one and that went really well , blew the 2017 one out of the water , it was that much better . Annoyingly i have a trait of always wanting something else in the mancave 🙈ride safe
I wonder if the right hand tingling is down to mode as I get it when I ride all day in dynamic Pro setting and I'm running on Bridgestone s . Also a tip on quick shift when your under 5k I've found it smooth as butter shutting throttle briefly just as you engage gear shift, takes a bit of practise to time it right but every up change apart from 1 into 2 is smooth.
Darren thanks, either way I love the bike, certainly can hustle for such a big(ish) machine. I have just witched to DP so I will see what happens. May just be my small slim hands 🤪
Might be pure coincidence but since having Road 6s fitted to my 1250GS I’m also getting tingling in the hands through the bars. I had the tyre balances rechecked and both ok. Strange… tread pattern perhaps? Anyone else get this?
Great video, given me some ideas for Day trips to France👍. Running Road 5's on my GSA, but good review of the 6's for when i need to change. Is the Rallye screen OEM or aftermarket, where from ?
OEM screen. The 6's are very good, although no expert when it comes to tyres , just what my local bmw dealer advised me on. Simply brilliant tyres although I haven't used them in the wet yet. 👍
@@gsd32i i have the same issues there is a company online who will replace your lenses with anti fog lenses for around £75 ish. I have spent alot of time trying to sort this issue as you know in heavy rain visor up isnt and option
@@austinmatthews347 Indeed as the water just collects and the glasses and voila...you can't see. Do you have the companies name ?and have you had them done?
Standard road 6 . You may want to go with the stiffer side walls if you are going to carry loads of gear and pillion etc . Very good tyres . If the standard road 6 is good enough for Nigel Mansell’s son’s GS , who runs my bmw dealership , then they are good enough for me 👍
I find road 6s noisy on my 1250GS so wonder if tingling is caused by the tread pattern at certain speeds. No complaints on tyre performance otherwise, even with plug due to screw being thrown up by front tyre (likely cause according to well known tyre fitter).
i just swapped from offroad tyres so to me they are smooth and quiet, but had metzler roadtec 01 before that, road 6 is quieter than them and feel softer
I just swapped my Anakee's for Road 6 and yes, I experience the shimmy as well. Rode 5000 miles on Anakee's with no shimmy at all and now I have shimmy on higher speed. I also have topbox and it's Givi plastic one that is supposed to be aerodynamic. Anyway, the setup of the bike is the same as it was with Anakee's. However, I noticed something strange. If I try (on any speed) to lift my hands off of the handlebars, the bike strongly pulls to the left. It was not the case with previous tyres. Maybe the alignment problem? Road 6's now have 500 miles. As for tingling in your hands, I don't feel it but I have grip puppies installed the day I bought the bike (January 2021 - new). I will get back to the tyre shop to see if there was something wrong with the alignment. Did you try lifting off your hands of the handlebars for a moment?
@@gsd32i Try lifting your hands off of the handlbars to see if bike starts pulling to the side and let me know, please. Mine pulls strongly to the left. If yours doesn't do that then those two issues are not related.
Have 4 days in this area September, was going to base in st malo or dinan, any thoughts??? Also any routes or places to visit, couldn’t make out a lot of the place names in the video thanks
I haven't really stayed in the area for any holidays as such. But Cap Frehel is worth a look, as is Mont St.Michel. There are some great coastal villages with fabulous restaurants , especially Cancales, with a very good go kart track nearby !Dinan is beautiful and has stunning kind of Tudor style houses in the town, but the restaurants by the river are the place to chill and watch the world go by.(in video)Le Mans is 2 and a bit hours away if you want to have a look around the race track. Oh and google has more knowledge than little old me.😂
Yes they were. The Anakee's were very good, but for me, where I live they were just annoying at the local speed limits and simply had to go. Above 60-70 mph they may be fine but I don't know . My local speed limit is 40🙁
yes you do, but I am used to the touch screen anyway. Silly thing is there are numerous contact pins to the rear of the zumo that aren't used by the zumo power cradle and it wouldn't surprise me if the extra pins could be used by the whizz wheel for control.🙁
Heard people complain they make bike pull to the left. 😎🏍💨💨💨💨💨👍🏻🇨🇦🍻thinking of change from Bridgestones they are terribly loud and front tire all cupped 😮
I haven’t noticed vibes on the hands on wither my GS 1200 or GSA 1250. Maybe you need to relax your grip a little. Too tip. It take a matter of seconds to go i to the settings and change the speedo to KPH 😉

Why some peoples complaining about tire noise What is your thoughts
I have tingles in my hands after about an hour and have the original road tyres it came with.
I don't have a GS, but I've read that this isn't an uncommon problem, and that a lot of people solve it with weighted bar ends. Might be worth a try.

Might be pure coincidence but since having Road 6s fitted to my 1250GS I’m also getting tingling in the hands through the bars. I had the tyre balances rechecked and both ok. Strange… tread pattern perhaps? Anyone else get this?
what is the size you use on the rear wheel ?is it 180/55/17 ? cause i can't found a 170/60/17 for the Road 6
Hi, 170/60/17 it is......www.michelin.co.uk/motorbike/tyres/michelin-road-6#sizes
Get some grip puppies for the vibes. I have no issue with the quick shifter below 5000rpm. I have the 2020 R1250 GS HP😁👍
do they work with heated grips?
@@gsd32i Yep, they work with heated grips .. hot, but not inferno 👍
How do you get on with glasses fogging in helmet. Also how many miles did you get out of your road 6 tyres
Glasses fogging up is an absolute pain in the 🤬but only when he visor is down. Hate wearing the bloody things but its an age thing!!!!!
@@gsd32i not had any done yet so many things i have been dealing with at present i will have a look online and message a link to you dude
@@gsd32i vision express do them and others
Which Road 6 did you have on as there is one with stiffer side wall ?
I have the stock Bridgestones and do get the bar vibrations on my 2020 1250 GSA
Possibly may need re-balancing ? To be honest it was ever so slight and through the twisty bits no issue whatsoever. May just leave as is. enjoy.
Oh and google has more knowledge than little old me.😂
@@gsd32i thanks, appreciate the info
Were the new tyres quiet .?
Yes they were. The Anakee's were very good, but for me, where I live they were just annoying at the local speed limits and simply had to go. Above 60-70 mph they may be fine but I don't know . My local speed limit is 40🙁
When you fit the gamin zumo do you loose the power to control it from the wiz wheel on the handlebar?
yes you do, but I am used to the touch screen anyway.
Mine did, not bad though, just when hands off the bars. Changed to the Next 2's, no pulling and all good.😁
Fit grip puppy's to bars. Very cheap but works a treat.
thanks 👍
Can’t hear you with music on aswell
I haven’t noticed vibes on the hands on wither my GS 1200 or GSA 1250. Maybe you need to relax your grip a little. Too tip. It take a matter of seconds to go i to the settings and change the speedo to KPH 😉
I thought I was overtaking lots of traffic, that's why then!! no tingling hands over here on the rock.
@@gsd32i rode my 2017 GS to Copenhagen and Spain. 19,000 miles never had any hand vibes. My 2021 GSA has been to Wales and the Dordogne without issues too. Off to the Black Forest next month 🤞
@@neilhutton1528 Maybe that staying at 60mph doesn't cause any vibes 🤪enjoy
@@gsd32i Cheeky! next time I see you on the Jersey motorway there will be tears......
Petrol prices! Your first fill worked out to AU$2.80 per litre, we are paying AU$1.80 at the moment....
Yup, French prices 🤬
I’ve heard it all now! Wire wheels not as stable as cast ones! Ffs utter bollocks!

shame the dark screen spoils the camera view
Had i mounted the camera up rather than hanging it from the mount it would have been better . 🙈
It has to do with the boxer they all have it
Like the screen, just what I need, talking over your music is annoying tho.
Screen is fine . Others have said i should try it in the lower position , works better . Apologies if you found the talking annoying over the music 🙈ride safe 👍
Outside of the US, can UA-camrs really get in trouble with showing their speedo when speeding? I've not seen an American UA-camr do that.
Matt , possibly where I live , on an island and I wouldn’t want to chance it !! Lol 😂
@@gsd32i I totally get it. I was just curious. I never put two and two together until today.
What makes the R6s good is when it’s raining they are solid and predictable and their wear is pretty good and even👌as for the tingling since fitting both the fives and now the sixes I’ve noticed a similar situation,I wonder I wonder🤔I never had this issue with the previous Road Pilots🤔
Road tires on a GS/Gsa? Buy a Rt! Lol!
Sad i know 😥
Great vid, are you not allowed to filter in france or are you loaded up and can't get through ?
high, I just couldn’t be bothered to filter at the time . 🙈
