No bad language, no emotional outbursts; just appreciation of and support of each other's efforts. What a pleasure to see such big catches with, to my eye at least, an unusually high proportion of keepers.
Those hanging bait clips are pretty much a universal item. Here in Oz even amateurs use them in crab pots. Just a bent bit of wire and away you go. Tristen's as dry as a mouthful of sand, but he's a funny bugger at times. Those are some really clean and lovely crab! Good size and numbers too. I thin I remember a few seasons ago at one stage you said that the fleet was averaging 12 or 13 per pot. 40s and 50s seems like a bit of boom year so far compared to that. I was happy to see the Skipper mentioning using open hands to manouvre the pots. If it drops off the hook for some reason, even on deck, you never want to have your hand closed around it.
Well oiled machine! Everyone knows the part, don't have to be told. I watched T this rewatch and he grabs the floats, curls the rop. And hes shaking crab 🦀 out the net! And sizing them. Thats why i say " well oiled machine " . The whole crew was just jamming along. Yall need to get some pearl jam out while fishing,crabbing.. love from Tennessee in the middle
Great crabbing there guys. i just found your channel last week and subbed. i a a crab fisherman from Newfoundland Canada. got most of your video's watched. look forward to watching more. take care
Won't be long and T won't be called a rookie. Next thing you know Len will just be in the captains chair and Matt and T will handle the deck work rattling off the catch numbers to the caption. Great family with a nice catch of huge crab! Be safe guys.
I was actually just looking up "How do they process Tanner Crabs," when I got the reminder! Perfect timing! Hope your week is going well! Some of those pots were crazy!!!!
Yea you are back on the hunt for Tanner crab!!!! Those were some nice big ones. So happy to finally see Tristan on the ropes, ya'll need to keep swapping out on every other pot. That way if Pop's needs to use him when you have to be somewhere else Tristan will be able to take over for the day. Tristan practice makes perfect!! 🦀🦀 ❣🌴
I did some math and They are paying fisherman average $8.50 per pound for tanner crab . I guessed about 50 crabs per pot. The average weight is 2.2 lbs per crab. Thats $935 per crab pot .Every ten pots is around 10 grand , WOW good haul guys. Those crabs will pay some bills. Great stuff. If you need a youtube accountant I'm available hehe.
Hehe. Not this year. Last year our price was $8.40/lb. This year they offered $2.50/lb. The fleet stood down for 2 weeks negotiating a better price and finally went fishing for $3.25.
asalamualaikum... very extraordinary catch uncle.. I want Uncle Crab to be as delicious as it is eaten in Indonesia. be careful uncle take care of safety
@@EISAlaska that's what I thought on pinks, a bit long for chum. We have so many down here and can tell the pink schools in the creeks...darker and longer, average 2ft, where chum is light grey and maybe 1.5ft. Was great to see this haul today. Nice when majority are keepers. Do you keep count, or just Giver? Lol
Thanks! Yes there is a pot limit. If the GHL (Guidline harvest Level) exceeds 4 million pounds the pot limit is increased to 30 pots per vessel. Less than 4 million, the limit is 20 pots.
IMO T would be more suited to be captain whilst you 2 do the manual labor.....Some men are simply born to lead, Besides Captain T sounds more sinister like Capt. Hook sorta
It's nice seeing Tristan becoming more involved with the operation and all of the cross training. :)

Posting like y'all have lately will definitely get the youtube algorithm going again for y'all's Channel. 👍

All hands on deck Hussle!!!!

Excellent job guys see on the next one be safe out there
Last year they were just too small but it looks like they have grown up. Nice!
Use push stick
Get it done Tristan grab that bull by the horns work that real.
How do your traps discriminate between tanner crab, Snow Crab and King Crab?
Good morning everyone, are you using chum or pinks in bait bags?
Awesome pots today wow
Pinks. I wish we had chums available, but thats what the processor had.
@@EISAlaska that's what I thought on pinks, a bit long for chum. We have so many down here and can tell the pink schools in the creeks...darker and longer, average 2ft, where chum is light grey and maybe 1.5ft.

Great video and some cracking big crab team EIS.
Quick question guys, is there a limit to how many pots you can use to catch?
Thanks! Yes there is a pot limit. If the GHL (Guidline harvest Level) exceeds 4 million pounds the pot limit is increased to 30 pots per vessel. Less than 4 million, the limit is 20 pots.
what are tanner crabs used for ,doesnt look like a lot ofmeat
hay mat an guys just wanted to know the depth of water i know feet thats all lol thanks darrell
You have probably answered this question previously. What's in the plastic container with the screw cap that you put in the crab pots, fish oil ?
Its a slow release bait jar, we fill it with the same chopped herring as the bag.
Your vids are great. I know nothing about Tanner crab; what is the market?
Why cod for handing bait? Because of oil ?
Scent and also something to snack on. Helps keep them in the pot and also feeding attracts more crab!
Great rope control nothing more exhausting and dangerous than walking all over rope all day.
Como. Puedo. Pescar. Con. Ustedes
IMO T would be more suited to be captain whilst you 2 do the manual labor.....Some men are simply born to lead, Besides Captain T sounds more sinister like Capt. Hook sorta
Not that Captain Dad doesn't do manual labor now but imagine all the work he could do if he wasn't saddled with the piddly job of Capt. Hahahahaaaaa
Haha. Someone has to drive, but I don't think I could do it all day without working the deck.
What a awesome family, and love you guys so much😊
