For those of you who may have missed the memo about the music overlay; take a look at 0:17 and 22:20. The outrigger microphone (AKA the main camera) was out for these hauls. We rarely do a full music overlay without reason, pretty much only bad audio, severe wind noise or corrupted/missing sound files. Try as we might to get everything right, technology simply has other ideas sometimes. At any rate, I hope you all enjoy the video. If you don't like the music, stay tuned for the next one! Thanks!
THE MIC DIDN'T WORK!! Stop complaining, it happens. If you miss how special this video is then your missing the whole point. Thank you for sharing this video with us even though you knew there would be backlash. Your family makes my family happy. In fact we've started watching all your videos over again!
I say Matt and his pops and t and even when mom is there that have to be one of the best crews out in alaska.i mean I watch several Alaska videos and they do it all.and when it's just pop's and Matt by themselves they do what a crew of 4 or 5 do and that deserves several million subs alone
Way to go T! Good work! And good work to all for trying the different stations. Great little cross training session. Helps each other see things from a slightly different perspective, and works to strengthen the teamwork when you return to normal stations. Thanks for another great video! Thumbs up!
That was painful to watch. He tries so hard to impress his dad ,but Matt is a tough act to follow. Hang in there young man it will all get easier and someday it will be you and Matt fishing togeather. I know both your dad an Matt are proud of you for jumping in an trying new things.
Good question, we know a lot of viewers prefer the natural sounds so we try to keep that when possible, in this particular case the audio was corrupted so it would’ve been complete silence. We only tend to use music during timelapses (otherwise it’s the high pitched chipmunk voices) or where the audio is unusable due to corruption or excessive wind noise.
Wow was really fun to watch everyone change jobs! What you do Matt on daily you make look so easy! But watching your brother and even your dad do it just shows me that it’s really not!! Same for running the hydraulic’s your dad makes it look easy. But it’s not!! Love the show guys keep them coming 🎣🎣🎣🎣❤️🙏🏻
First time Tristen working that station by himself, well done lad, good job practice make perfect and that takes time, enjoyed this video and a nice catch of halibut.
I think Tristan did a pretty good job He showed the ability but you could tell he was learning. I think as a dad you have done a great job raising your kids. I really like how willing they seem to want to follow in the family business. You and mom have done great. The family showing such togetherness makes your videos complete fun to watch. Thanks Stan
Great outing for you all, especially Tristan! Good job dude, you worked hard! Been mushroom picking, and building a sawmill in Terrace BC...so I'm not all that far guys...gotta do a halibut longline with you 3...mom can cook haha, I hear her food rocks!! Love you all, Pabst Blue Ribbon cheers 🍻 🇨🇦❤
You guys look like you're having a lot of fun out there, nice catch of halibut. Nice to see Tristen on the rail and Matt the new driver. I enjoy watching you guys and you all get along great. Fellow Southeast Alaskan. Keep up the great content boys.
Hi guys, First off, it's the Thanksgiving Day long weekend in Canada, so "Happy Thanksgiving!" Looked like you were getting a fair number of 35" - 45" halibut coming over the rail, and I'm sure you don't mind that at all. You've often said that the ones around that size are good eating, compared to some of the big ones. Having them come in pretty steadily probably seems good, especially when it's a nice day. I've wondered if you ever swap deck positions occasionally - sometimes it can be useful if everybody has some experience doing an alternate job on deck. Those look like nice fish - I hope that one day soon we'll be able to get direct shipments. There's a good airport at Yellowknife, and there are a few regional airlines who connect on a regular schedule to where you are. Funny thing happened recently. I was all set to head out with a couple of old friends ten days ago to hunt moose. Instead and quite unexpectedly I wound up going into the Emergency Ward with a banged up leg. Just to put a cherry on top, my friends went ahead to set up our base camp. They'd barely gotten the tent up when a really nice moose ambled by, maybe 200 yards away across a clear. Bad luck for that moose - one of the guys picked up a rifle and dropped that moose on the spot, one clean shot. Hard to believe - they're normally pretty shy. So instead of a week or 10 days hunting, moose season began and ended with a *Bang* - literally - for this year. I got an email with pictures from the camp - they hadn't even got the coffee pot started, for heaven's sake! Must be a record - 3-4 days is about the shortest outing any other year. So today is definitely a day to "Give Thanks" - even if I've got one leg hanging in some kind of rig, wrapped from hip to toe like a mummy. I think they'll have pity and bring over some moose, since one of my jobs is making up moose sausage. With a little luck I'll be mobile enough to do that. I miss having a few days camping - the fall has been beautiful. Good luck with winding up Halibut season. I look forward to seeing more of your finishing touches on the Emerald Isle. It looks like all your hard work has been well worth it. Greetings to all the family.
As always thank you appreciate for the video. It's good to see you all three on the next video together also. I believe that it would be easier on y'all if you guys put that ruler on something permanent maybe on the table or something where you going to clean them I don't know but somewhere you don't have to keep moving it and moving it around and you know what not make it easy on y'all but you can tell t hasn't been there for a while lol but he deserves to be there and deserves beyond the videos so everybody knows that he is a true fisherman like his dad and brother. Have an awesome Sunday. And I wish you all the best this next week
Moved to Kodiak in 1967 at 4yrs old,Dad-Jim North was lead mechanic for western Airlines and we flew on first flight there, lived next to the Floyds at first, jimmy Dawson,Thor Wage, kenny peterson,so many names, went to east elementry, and in 1970 my parents ecame huse parents at Kodiak baptist mission till 76 all while dad worked aviation like Kodiak Airways Or scat and we had our own planes.Halibut have best birth mark for cleaning, natural lines.I fished halibut and salmon, even went on M/V Patricia Lee in Bering for king crab, and also went to lower 48 with Joe Kahun, probly misspelled lol. Then at 23 joined US Coast Guard and out of boot camp back to kodiak, and again after aviaiton A school.Great hunting and fishing and 4-wheeling to saltery cove etc.Miss the life but in North Carolina near Outer Banks and Nags head.
Did you know my brother-Capt Arthur Ladley? He was C/O at Kodiak in the 70's. I worked at Dutch 3 seasons for King, Blue, and Tanner. Even worked as a greenhorn to fill in for a couple weeks. My first day out was 11 ft swells. Glad it was temporary cause that boat was known for not catching much, plus they brought a lot of dead crab back. Never made it to Kodiak but would love to visit. Too busy retired in the Philippines. 🌴😉
Someone needs to remind the rookie at station 2 that all fish over the rails need to be checked for size. Learned that a few episodes ago😂 The EIS office is amazing. For all the hard work you guys do you make it look effortless.
It was great to see T taking a bigger role. And Congratulations Matt on the temporary "mutiny/Captain" role. The music didn't bother me at all. But I do enjoy hearing about what's happening.
Great job Tristan! Good to see you in there giving it a go. It takes awhile doing anything that’s worthwhile to get good at it. Can’t wait to see you fish the new boat!
I'd rather hear you guys explaining how things work and the sound of some big Halibut slapping around on deck but the music was ok. Nice day on the water.
This is cool. You guys are the best . I posted a halibut video and people love it. Normally my salmon trolling videos don’t do well but halibut is different. Thanks
Not that it is any of my business, but... what are the plans for the Fish Tale? will you run both boats? Are you secretly hiding another crewmember at home?
So the cod you bring up is that by-catch while longlining or is it allotted with the permit? I know when we jigged for Cod around Kodiak we had a by-catch of rockfish we could keep but only a percentage of our cod catch.😊
Alright! Rail time for big T! Was that halibut that was being accosted by the octopus still alive? Looks like he didn't make the length but if it's dead because of the octo, can you still keep it since it's dead anyways if it was even underweight? Seems like a waste if you couldn't keep something that's dead anyways.
I am sorry to say that Tristan doesn't appear to be a natural fit as a fisherman like Matt and his dad. Tristan has a very much deliberate approach to all he does with the result needing to be perfect. Unfortunately, that slows everything down. But it is great to see him having a go.
I spent a lifetime on the water doing all types of fishing. As part of the experience I enjoy the sounds of the fishing and conversation. There's also a lot of room for the silence of nature. Don't fall for the music overlay Trap. Wannabees that listen to music while fishing can turn the sound down and plug in their earbug's... I'll check back now and then to see if you get it figured out. 💯🇺🇸🙏
Sorry. Corrupted audio file. Only time we put music on is timelapse (cause no one wants to here chipmunks yaking), excessive wind noise or lost/ corrupted audio files.
@@EISAlaska yeah you have a point for that instance... You guys do a great job on all your videos. I just prefer the ones without music but, I still watch them till the end.. lol
I certainly felt like one. Matt is so efficient at his station, he makes it look easy. It is not, I was hustling to keep up and thankfully T was there to bail me out!

Hello to Tristen, and let him start running the hydros in the next venture. Thank you for this great video.

Wonderful to see Dad pass on his years of experience to his sons. Dad, you must be proud. Also a great catch.
You two boys should be doing it all and let your dad do what captain does best and watch 😀😀😀😀😀 LoL God Bless Y'all and he doing good 😊

I see a lot of recipes for octopus lately, and would like to try cooking some, do you ever sell them?

Unfortunately we can’t. It was indeed an undersized halibut. But mortality is taken into account on fishing quotas.
I like the music but where is EI?
He’s not gonna learn if you keep helping him Matt!
Still youv got no corks on the grappling hooks , ,😏
Is this going to be mats boat now or is it for sale
do the octpuss mar the halibut in anyway to reduce sell price
Muy buen equipo donde está mamá

Onya Tristan
Sorry Tristen
Is there something wrong with "T" he seems a little off
And the boat is not the one you put new flooring and a roof shelter in ,what’s going on guys ,is this another boat ,?
