So, no mention of Syl's in Rockdale, White Fence farm, or even Joe's Hot Dog...how about Al's Steak House...there are many good restaurants in Joliet!!!
Lived here and plainfield for 14 years before I moved to Tennessee. As life happens, I miss my hometown more and more each day. Illinois is tough to live in but it's my home, and that'll never change.
I currently live in California and I miss home so much. I used to live at Chick n Spice. Every day I'm there getting my chicken chunk fix while going to Juco next bldg over
Moved to Ohio 2 years ago, but I miss Joliet almost daily. Lived there my whole life. My mother and grandfather had a country band and my grandma June owned a restaurant there. Very much a nostalgic segment.
Chicken n Spice, unfortunately is no longer in downtown Joliet. They do have two other locations in Shorewood and Tinley Park, however... and they're supposed to be building one in New Lenox too.
I live in joliet and those chicken chunks are sooooooo good, they are the size of a tenis ball if your lucky you'll get some the size of a baseball Edit: brother , you forgot to mention babas
Yeah, that's true. Joliet is more than the prison, the drag strip, and the casino. Unfortunately, it's nothing to brag about it. The older parts, downtown, etc. have interesting city history, but Joliet is a cauldron of low-class, conservative knuckleheads with no real future. Met far too many of them there, back in the day. Well into my third decade gone from that area..the southwest Chicago metro...and I'll be blunt- other than Chicago itself, I don't miss the area. Long since moved on to bigger and better things.
Chicken and spice is trash, don't waste your time, go to harold's instead. Merishkas is ight but not really good for the price. On second thought, if you're out of state, skip Joliet and go to Chicago if you're looking for good food or literally anything else to do
not being mean i am sorry i am not knocking it. i am from joliet lived there all my life. that place i cannot stand because i cannot eat spicy foods. Now i live in Kentucky
I don't like chicken and spice either but for opposite reasons, I had to soak it in hot sauce to make it palatable and the fruit punch is artificial sweet garbage

I'm from Shorewood, and my family used to eat at Merichka's in Crest Hill, DAmicos on Jefferson St., and Stefanich Chicken in Joliet.
By the way, what is now called Home Cut Donuts used to be Mister Donut. My Mom and I would go there after church.
Merichkas!
I'm from Shorewood as well, HOME CUT DOUNUTS though hit different.
Shorewood natives ha. Who else loves crispy waffle?
DAmicos!!

Babas is fairly new... compared to their next door neighbor... Sub Dock... which should have been on the list.

Des, good luck with your negativity man. I hate trash comments.
Try going there for dinner now. The prices have tripled! Thanks Joe Biden/Zdralevich.
Matt is a shady liar, parents dont own a pizza place.
i hate chicken and spice
Tracy Mangrum well that's unfortunate. Don't leave crap comments like that here.

Joliet is pronounced like toilet.
