Greatest sandwich I have had. My brother would always order his with extra garlic butterine and a double-baked potato. Their double-baked potatoes are really large. This is almost always what I get at Merichka's. The few times I have ever had anything else it's been great also. A restaurant owned by generations of the same family and doing their best.

Heros burgers. Joes hot dogs. Chicken N Spice. White Fence Farm . Lindas Pizza.

Chicken n Spice, unfortunately is no longer in downtown Joliet. They do have two other locations in Shorewood and Tinley Park, however... and they're supposed to be building one in New Lenox too.

Yeah, that's true. Joliet is more than the prison, the drag strip, and the casino. Unfortunately, it's nothing to brag about it. The older parts, downtown, etc. have interesting city history, but Joliet is a cauldron of low-class, conservative knuckleheads with no real future. Met far too many of them there, back in the day. Well into my third decade gone from that area..the southwest Chicago metro...and I'll be blunt- other than Chicago itself, I don't miss the area. Long since moved on to bigger and better things.
