i like this format more it feels more natural like your other videos and commentaries. btw you helped me improve and im glad you are doing this series because i got this information you are teaching by watching 40 of your games while you explain it
Finally another MWC Guide. I like the setup, it's nice to see a face talking to you rather than nothing. Even though that was fine before as you'll get to see the whole screen. I'd probably put the webcam in the bottom right corner of the screen if you're doing Top lane guides, as that space is mostly wasted and I think being in spectator mode will allow you to even go further in the guide. (Just like you said you couldn't show something because it's a replay.) Just some things that might help it even better. Anyways, awesome guide. Been doing these things myself more or realised what I was doing when I didn't know I was doing it before. Keep it up. Phu-eace.
In the client you can set a key binding to hide all UI and then pause/start with space. if you do that you wil be able to pan around the map while talking.Great video.
+Daniel Bruun-Villadsen Yeah I'll do that next time I had something different planned and just stumbled on this format and thought it looked better. But it will be much better when I can move around the map like you said.
This is such good info, I feel like a pro after understanding how to use these wave control tips. I still mess up but I can take advantage of the enemy laner much better.
Thanks for finally posting another video on this, this is why I subbed to you. Already with just the first video on even and uneven timing, it has improved my play in the bot lane when I'm behind to farm up, and also in top(where I am not so great) to better understand the way to win the lane. I really appreciate this, and it now all makes sense why KFO did what he did against Faker in that first video. Between this and the first video it makes sense why KFO did what he did, when before it seemed dumb to go back to base with creeps still there.
This format is better and more natural and easy to follow, just like your stream. Other format not so much. Thanks for your videos. You explain stuff better than anyone. PEACE!
I found a link to your UA-cam on reddit in Summoner school, and damn I got a ton of notes from you I have saved on notepads for tips. Really appreciated.
really enjoyed this format. I've been doing what you recommend without knowing really why. deff made the wrong choice many times. feel like I can really apply this right away. thanks for sharing!
Great video. Very well explained. I guess I will send this to some... less intelligent individuals who just dont get how freezing works.Thank you very much. I might pick up on your twitch sooner or later when I got time. When are you usually streaming? It''s both funny and sad how this is what Ive always been doing. Been playing top lane forever loved playing Nasus and got ahead quite often then stacked minion waves on my side. Very often I had even 1-2 waves pushing to me and as I just stacked resistances I was able to tank them. I know about 4 minions will always do the trick but with that much I ensure the enemy laner looses minins much faster when behind and when the enemy laner is leaving I can just push fast with the E. However when my jungler picks up the easy kills when I tell them to gank they too often dont get how freezing works and just push my lane in 10 minuits into the game. Alternatively they will failgank cause they dont realize I got no kill pressure but can deny all waves of farm and cause they spent 10 seconds of their jungle time which I didnt even want they will take almost an entire wave. Very often they would tell me I'm stupid for not pushing even though I can deny the enemy toplaner endlessly. Yeah I could push down the tower but this usually results in the enym laner not showing up on lane anymore which forces me to push (in order to be able to quickly follow a roam) thus denying me from farming well and whats even worse denying me the opportunity to deny minions and potentially absorb enemy jungle pressure (while beeing unable to creat great gank opprtuinitys for my jungler). Very often my jungler who breaks my perfect freeze would even tell me I was an idiot for not pushing under tower and bragging about his gold/diamond main (silver myself, just don't feel like climbing) while he basically gave the enemy a chance to do a comeback and denied himself free kills on top lane. TL;DR: Unfortunately freezes rarely work in low elo cause your jungler will eventually break the freeze.
Hey SRO, great vid as always! However, being slightly red/green colorblind, I found the red marker against the green background a little uncomfortable to watch in the first half of the video. A neutral color like white on green is a good option. The pink you used for the second half of the vid was fine though :3 In the end it was only a few seconds of that anyways, and it still got the point across, just minor things to consider. Thanks again for another great lesson!
I enjoyed the live commentary more than your first video on Wave Management. I find the way you speak to be more natural and your points flow more smoothly. The other format (obviously) sounds a bit more scripted, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I think this format is more enjoyable to listen to. Either way, love this series, keep up the awesome content man!
+METD23 Yeah I still get all the points I want to get across it just takes me a few minutes longer with this format. When its scripted I write it to be as short as possible while still getting everything across but I go on mini rants when I freestyle them but if people are fine with a couple extra minutes I much prefer doing it this way.
Great video SRO! I like this new style of recording it live, you tend to sound a lot more natural. Quick question, what do you do if he teleports back immediately and can freeze outside tower? Anything you can do to not get screwed over? Also, what if that was a champion that can push almost instantly, such as a nautilus with bami's cinder and double doran's?
+Eugene Kim Lee Lee That was pretty much the situation jax was in. If you have tp use it if not your just going to have to take the hit and leave. If you stay you will have less items and health/mana then your opponent and he has a freeze so that is awful and will prob lose you more then just 9 CS. If Irelia was Naut or something with a lot of wave clear pushing would have been correct because all the minions would have died under tower instead of jax getting 4-5.
+SoloRenektonOnly another question, would it be worth it for someone who can push fast(unlike the irelia) to tp back to lane to shove in a double wave?
Not really because what are you doing after? 2 waves ins't going to give you much to buy so you are going to stick around anyways might as well use what the wave is giving you and just freeze and run back to the lane to save tp for a map play.
Yo WHHAAATT mic was he using back then!!?? Oh my GOSH!! LOL!! He sounds INCREDIBLY different now in his videos as opposed to this one. Going back and watching an old video let's you hear a VAST difference! WOW!
Great video! One problem, though: in this clip, should Jax have stayed in lane to push the wave into tower, despite Irelia having spent more gold? We couldn't see how far ahead/behind they were so it's hard to tell. How could Jax have minimized his losses?
So you mentioned freezing the pushing minion wave outside your turret once your opponent backs in order to make more of their minions die and deny them CS. However, I've also learned that it's important to shove the wave as hard as possible when your opponent isn't there in order to get damage on their turret. Which one should you do, and when? And what if you don't have vision of their jungler?
I think it depends, sometimes you need to push the wave and sometimes you need to keep your wave frozen. But I think it depends on your playstyle, if you want to br aggressive push the wave and if you want to play safe just keep your wavr frozen, I might be wrong.
Please go back to first style. I appreciate trying different styles but I also really loved the examples being spot on that doesn't quite happen with live.
+Tsvetan Tabakov Since I've started playing more Gnar and Renekton recently, i'd love to see a matchup with Renekton vs the new meta champions top such as Vlad, Yasuo, Gnar, etc...Great vid again tho :)
Hey SRO, I know you upload over watch only now, but by any chance do you have any more un released minion wave control videos? I ask because watching/ rewatching your series for minion wave control and SRO commentaries are still the most educational videos I can find for top lane. There are very few people who make good videos on the topic it seems. No one explains why they back when they back, when the wave is pushing to you slow or fast/ when you have to tp. I'm just looking for more help on the matter since there's no one who teaches as well as you can.
So summarizing everything, if you can shove a big enough wave you can make the minions stall and then have him pushing back to you and you can freeze from there, my question is how does one get that big of a wave? Slow pushing? In my experience I lose quite a bit of creeps in order to slowpush, and my theory is if he sees this and tries to push the wave you should engage on the enemy because they used abilities to push said wave? Also my opponents rarely stop quoting the wave, should i let him get creep advantage and then try to even it out?
Should I ever freeze in a losing matchup? For example I'm fizz v orianna pre 6, and I have just backed after pushing the wave to the turret, do I want to freeze it? Whenever I try to Orianna just pokes me down, so I always have the feeling I should have the bigger wave so the minions can punish her for being aggressive, is it wrong to think that? I always struggle dealing with champions that poke me and I have no idea what the ideal wave is when this is happening
i love your streams and videos cuz ty they are pure educationaol but couild you explain more the +4minnion advantage and how to make endless freeze ty Sir
SoloRenektonOnly i'm jungler, so it doesn't really help that much in jungle BUT my secondary role is a top lane cause of you :P so yeah this way it is really helpfull, love ya streams and all you do :3 p.s. don't tilt too much
So when i get a kill and i freeze the wave outside my tower range , the enemy jungler can come and push that wave inside my tower wich will damage the tower and make me lose a lot more cs. I usually push the wave to the enemy tower before leaving my lane to make sure that my tower takes no damage before i come back , and since i'm currently bronze people usually push that wave back to your tower pretty fast.
So what you are saying is you better have a full hp tower than deny the enemy laner a ton of cs and make him overextend possibly getting ganked and be killed? Try to see the advantage in both scenarios...
So, out of curiosity. In a situation where you need to push the wave in to back and somebody teleports in what do you do? Do you just push as hard as you can and back on the spot?
+DapCutscene yeah, you just push it under anyway, but you might need to give up like 2-3 caster minions (the final few minions left) to avoid over extending and getting engaged upon - then u back up a lil bit (for like 1-2 secs of walking) then recall and the enemy shouldn't come to stop you cuz they'll miss minions
DapCutscene At that point, you just have to take the L and give up what you have to. It's why some people in higher Elo tp into a wave that's in their enemies turret, because their opponents set a perfect freeze.
I always struggle when my opponment constantly shoves the wave, what should I do? If I try to freeze I would loose too much HP, if i I lasthit under tower I would miss some creeps and would constantly be harassed by him. I personally dont know what to do in this situation but to ask ur jungler to gank
hey sro, where can I find that image you made where you can see top lane and the number of creeps you need for the wave to push at different points of the lane?
+KerrankiSuomee Really hard to answer that because a cannon minion behind melee minions is worth much more then a cannon with no frontline being target first. It really wont be a situation you run into a lot but I get in those spots too were I am not 100% sure what way the wave is going but if you just wait like 20 seconds it becomes really obvious.
SRO , i have a problem man so im one tricking ap gragas mid/top and im 99% of the time im getting first blood or an early kill and i always try to shove the wave and back , but like maybe 60-70% of the time i do that the enemy jungler kills me cuz im like 30-40-50% health , what is the best way to do that , just leave it where it is or ward and try to push safely(waste time) i dunno man
Kristian Vergov there's rlly nothing you can do at that point. Shoving the lane while super low is really risky cause you might die to their jgler so it isn't really worth it. If your jgler is close to you ask him to help you shove it, if he won't then don't shove and just b, don't risk dying just to shove the lane. You already got the first blood anyways so losing a few creeps won't be that bad.
Kristian Vergov you have to set up the wave beforehand, before you go for the kill. It's not perfect, and will most likely bring a lot more complexities, but it's what works for me personally
i like that i would try that sounds smart and usable , the shiet is i play gragas and i got 4 aoe abilites atleast 1 will hit the wave , GONNA TRY IT DOE !!
Those three minions, were my favorite minions. I would tp.
Lmao
Lmao x2!
Ryan McCoy I
That makes you a go-getter, and being a go-getter wins games
200th like lol
I have watched LCS players who haven't been able to explain this like you have. Sub for life
Everything made much more sense when you compared the wave to water, and to just go with the flow. Also This format is much better keep it up SRO
+Zorpi GG Thanks glad you enjoyed!
I like this format better dude, keep doing what you're doing
i like this format more it feels more natural like your other videos and commentaries.
btw you helped me improve and im glad you are doing this series because i got this information you are teaching by watching 40 of your games while you explain it
you also are the only one explaining this in detail in youtube! i
This was extremely helpful and clear. Knowing what to look for in lane dynamics is going to change my game.
Real nice man, loved this a lot more than the scripted one!
Remember kids, just "go with the flow!". As a League player with alcohol issues, this speaks to me on so many levels.
Keep it up.

+Yanni Mathys Thanks for the feedback :D
No problem. Thanks for sharing your wisedom, great Crocodile master.
Finally someone talking about underrated stuff that noone thinks about but makes a huge impact, love the info man.
In the client you can set a key binding to hide all UI and then pause/start with space. if you do that you wil be able to pan around the map while talking.Great video.

please keep these types of videos up :) they are explaning a lot, help to improve and still are entertaining to watch
Really solid info in a much more simple explanation than I've managed to find elsewhere, Gold star man!
This format is better and more natural and easy to follow, just like your stream. Other format not so much. Thanks for your videos. You explain stuff better than anyone. PEACE!

this series made me a better player ten fold thanks love the ren vids keep em coming
Mike, you have come a long way. Love all the progress. These videos are still a good refresher. Keep up the good work senpai.
Really like the new format with the live camera, sweet video's man really helpful info keep them up

Keep up these videos they are very helpful and informational for me and beginner. :)
This has been my biggest problem this days how to control a minion wave, cheers for explaining my good friend, liked and subbed :D
+-zbrda zdola- NP glad you enjoyed!
why did this just show on my youtube "angryface"
SRO ive been waiting for waves management my whole life, till i saw this vid, thank you man, love you
I never complained of your previous educational vids where you read off a script, but your live explanation seems more fluid/natural.
Just dug this up after hearing you mention some great wave management advice on stream - is this series still true for league currently?
Hey bro, been playing since season 4 and yes it has always been the nature of the game. so once you master this you get so much better at the game.
Finally,I've been waiting for this foreveeeeeeeer
Great video SRO! I like this new style of recording it live, you tend to sound a lot more natural.

Yo WHHAAATT mic was he using back then!!?? Oh my GOSH!! LOL!! He sounds INCREDIBLY different now in his videos as opposed to this one. Going back and watching an old video let's you hear a VAST difference! WOW!
I like this because you could do one during your stream and then upload it
You should look into analysis jobs and stuff. You explain more complex things really well!
Really glad to see you took my advice to not be scripted its 10x better now :)
Really loving these videos man, keep it up!
I watched tons of your videos thinking "he is so good with wave management, why he isn't doing a guide?" And then i see that you already did one
I really like this format! Keep it!
Thanks for this video! I have been looking for something like this! Thanks a lot!
But im still confused. Do i recall after the 3rd wave?
Will i miss the Cannon minion? Help pls
Oh yeah, and I like the videos where you are in screen as well... you asked for that feedback. Its friendlier that way!
Great video! One problem, though: in this clip, should Jax have stayed in lane to push the wave into tower, despite Irelia having spent more gold? We couldn't see how far ahead/behind they were so it's hard to tell. How could Jax have minimized his losses?

Please go back to first style. I appreciate trying different styles but I also really loved the examples being spot on that doesn't quite happen with live.
I hear you talk about wave control so much :D I just had to learn
Love those series man, keep it up :)
Live format is great :)
Keep up the good work SRO, you're definitely saving me from ELO hell!
This gave me crazy amounts of anxiety, I have so much to learn
So summarizing everything, if you can shove a big enough wave you can make the minions stall and then have him pushing back to you and you can freeze from there, my question is how does one get that big of a wave? Slow pushing? So when should the Jax have backed? Or did he only have that "average" situation as his only choice? Thank you.
I like this type of video's a lot... Keep doing what you are doing...
Exactly what i was looking for thank you
how did i even miss this, well thanks for the info bud im going to abuse whats still left
good ! this is really helpful :D thanks a lot you just earned a new sub
greetings from Mexico
really great series very imformative, love it
+Ben Gebruers Thanks!
This is sooo helpful ! Thanks a lot !
+Moo kra No problem! I am glad you enjoyed it! :D
Thanks for the clear explanation you just earned a sub! ^^
Love you man, thanks a lot!
72.5k subs well earned

Hey Mike here's a boom from the past!
those videos are really helpful, im about to hit diamond :)
+MrRaving Rabbid Good work!
SoloRenektonOnly :3
SoloRenektonOnly i'm jungler, so it doesn't really help that much in jungle BUT my secondary role is a top lane cause of you :P so yeah this way it is really helpfull, love ya streams and all you do :3 p.s. don't tilt too much
+MrRaving Rabbid it's key to junglers, need to know how minions work so you can decide which lane to gank(unless you're gonna afk farm)
Eugene Kim Lee Lee it is kind of key for junglers aswell
These videos are really helpfull, liked and subbed.
So the 4 extra minions are there to hold the freeze or set up the freeze?
So when i get a kill and i freeze the wave outside my tower range , the enemy jungler can come and push that wave inside my tower wich will damage the tower and make me lose a lot more cs. I usually push the wave to the enemy tower before leaving my lane to make sure that my tower takes no damage before i come back , and since i'm currently bronze people usually push that wave back to your tower pretty fast.
So what you are saying is you better have a full hp tower than deny the enemy laner a ton of cs and make him overextend possibly getting ganked and be killed? Try to see the advantage in both scenarios...
How doe Cannonminions influence backtimings? Should i go back with Siegeminions coming or not?
How do you deal with backtiming when the enemy is trying to shove into you (say a squishy person against a lane bully like Renekton)
What about midlane? still this 3 minions? I always try to push into the tower tbh. I WANT those 3 creeps before B
So, out of curiosity. In a situation where you need to push the wave in to back and somebody teleports in what do you do? Do you just push as hard as you can and back on the spot?
+DapCutscene This. I wanna know this!

If I try to freeze I would loose too much HP, if i I lasthit under tower I would miss some creeps and would constantly be harassed by him. I personally dont know what to do in this situation but to ask ur jungler to gank
+danikrimm99 that's exactly what you do. Just ask for a gank and watch as your enemy laner dies like an idiot for constantly overextending.
much better that you do them live as opposed to reading off of a script. personally I don't like the 'reading voice' people have.
+Steez Agreed I suck reading off a script I think its worth the video being 2-3 mins longer with me just freestyling from a few talking points
Please do more of these instead of the clickbait "FULL AD", "FULL CRIT" videos.
Dude you explain it very well, so take a like :)
holy shit, never knew the game could be so complex
hey sro, where can I find that image you made where you can see top lane and the number of creeps you need for the wave to push at different points of the lane?
+Haku here: imgur.com/2hTFWR6
Yo SRO do I do the same thing on mid? i need ur league videos im fukt until u started playing overwatch and stopped with league videos :c
How many minions is a cannon minion worth in terms of pushing? 1.5-ish?
+KerrankiSuomee Really hard to answer that because a cannon minion behind melee minions is worth much more then a cannon with no frontline being target first. It really wont be a situation you run into a lot but I get in those spots too were I am not 100% sure what way the wave is going but if you just wait like 20 seconds it becomes really obvious.
Im watching this now
Great video thanks a lot
what did you use to pause and draw on the clips>?
very nice
Hell yeah, this is amazing. Am I going to climb out of silver now....? >.>
Could u add some low music ? think it would improve a lot :D!
Crazy how much weight you’ve lost
Omg how old is this video
Helpful af
I came here in 2021 after he mentioned the playlist in his fiora vid just to see old mike
This is amaizing!!!!
How do you freeze a lane though???
It's not perfect, and will most likely bring a lot more complexities, but it's what works for me personally
deep ward id say so if you see the jgl coming back off
i like that i would try that sounds smart and usable , the shiet is i play gragas and i got 4 aoe abilites atleast 1 will hit the wave , GONNA TRY IT DOE !!
Kristian Vergov i play darius a fair bit and i know the feeling of the lane pushing when i spam my q and gragas is 4x worse so good luck!
