Great video mate, you've just responded to me on Reddit. I had the general overview and it will take practice to get it down but these types of videos are by far the most informative structure for me for learning. Will put it into practice when I'm online, also it was good to see your Irelia plays that gives me more of an insight into her.
thank you , i literally been losing every lane because as you said at 3:20 i would push it after killing aatrox but fail since the next miinion wave was close and it wouldn't crash on the tower so the enemy would come , create a freeze and just win
I learned the very same thing and my brain is hurting trying to figure out why that's what was recommended anytime I tried to look up freezing vs slow pushing. I assume it's because casters do more damage than melees (so your wave takes more damage than they would from melees, leaving your wave thinner so that their wave is slightly bigger when it arrives?) and are ranged (so your melees are slower to get to them and they dont die as fast, meaning your can keep your wave in the same position a little longer). They're also the least tanky though, and I thought they were left until last because of that. So is the choice to keep 3 caster minions alive what you do if you want to slow push? I've seen people say it's what you're supposed to do for both freezing and slow pushing, but now that I'm thinking about it, the range and more damage seems like 2 things that make it better for freezing, while how little health they have feels like theyre better for slow pushing. I've confused myself even more now. Also thanks so much for the video! After 2 years regularly googling this and hearing many explanations, this is the best I've ever seen. I'd heard some of the above information before, but nobody really explained WHY you did specific things, maybe because to them it seemed obvious. For example, freezing when enemy wave is slightly bigger and slow pushing when your second wave is going to catch up to the current one. From everything I'd found before, it all seemed to boil down to "don't auto any minions, just last hit" for both and occassionally mentioning 3 caster minions but not explaining why
Damn man, I started playing league on my android cause i suck at the pc controls plus my pc is crap. I really needed this cause i haven't had that much experience with advanced tactics. Thanks for the info, I'll stay tuned for more!

Thank you very much for the kind words :) I'm glad you are enjoying League at the moment. Hello and thanks for this video. I have a question. Often I see pro LoL players as some confident guys with their solid conceptions of what/when to do, OR at least experienced enough. Personally me as a player from childhood (since season 3) stumbled upon a problem of unconscious actions. So how do I understand when should I freeze and slow push? I like watching Ipav999 and often I see that he sends his wave to die against enemies tower. But now while watching some guides about wave management, I hear opinions that freeze is more important than just resetting. What distinguishes freeze from reset, what are circs?
Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed it. It all just comes down to how well you understand the game, each game will be different and some games freezing will be optimal and other games there won't be a good chance to do it. I could cycle through 100 scenarios on when to freeze and when not to but it really comes to each game, situations will change a lot. It doesn't just come down to Reason X or reason Y, think of each game of league you start as a puzzle. Each game is different and will require different kinds of thinking. Best advice I can give is to question what you loser from a play and what you can gain + the risk involved in each decision. Sorry I couldn't give a more direct answer but league isn't an easy game! Slow push means killing the melee minions so the enemy is forced to stay and farm the ranged minions and you recall before h get back in lane before him and either get plates controll the next wave ( usually freez it again ) So where to practice all this :top lane vs bot Then top lane vs players Challenger tip 3 😀: if u really want to master the art of wave manipulation try winning a bot game 1 v 1 with out getting a single kill on waves crashing and hitting towers Remember always u dont play against a champion you play against minions. Enemy champion is only here to throw your minion game off. Thats why they always show the gold diffrence in pro games it is not how many kills you got it is how much gold you got (Edit): started explaining wave freez ended up explaining the whole game's macro Sorry it is so long
If your wave already outnumbers the enemy wave, is it possible to freeze, or can you only achieve a slow push? That's the part I don't understand on how to freeze - you can't kill your own minions, so how do you ensure that the enemy wave outnumbers yours? It seems as if the slowest you can thin out the enemy wave is to last hit, but doesn't only last hitting lead to a slow push?
You could let the opposing laner get some free autos on you without hitting them back, your caster minions will attack your lane opponent (thus not autoing the creep wave) Of course this means you might take a bad trade in the process, and you need to be a big enough threat where you can defend your freeze (not letting the enemy top kill minions and push it into tower to reset). Another option is pulling the wave into the top brush at level 1 when the minions first start making their way to top lane. You do this by walking right up and aggroing the creeps and running into the bush, this delays the wave so instead of the minions crashing in the middle of top lane, they crash closer to the enemies turret. This means the SECOND wave that comes after will also crash closer to your enemies turret, meaning they'll the casters from that wave will be auto attacking for a good 3 - 4 seconds before YOUR wave crashes (they have to travel a few metres further) - Thus more DPS from enemy wave > Their wave pushes > create freeze. Not sure if that all made sense, but sometimes you just cant create a freeze, but there are always things you can do here and there and you'll sort of just learn wave management the more you play, as long as your mindful of it.
very helpfull and understandable points , thanx but i would like to also know the other ramifications instince one : in the first kill of aatrox , if the minions couldnt get freezed , what do u do then ? two: after slowpushing if aatrox played safe under tower and u coudnt kill him what do u do next ? back, vision? ty if someone replies!
I'm not a pro or a person that plays a lot of pvps but as an adc I know that if aatrox got to the tower in like half health I should back off and not risk so I can keep as much hp as I can, but if he had ¼ of his life I would deffo go for the kill even if I got executed by the tower. Sorry if this doesn't help a lot or if I am wrong
im 13 and im getting pretty good at lol and this really helped did u misclick or something bc i saw at 4:17 u put a control ward down and idk if theres some kind of strategy to this or if it was accidental
As long as your opponents minions outnumber yours :) The bigger the difference the harder it will shove against your wave so its important to keep thinning the wave.
That’s a really good question. I’m not even sure my self, but it’s very strong when ahead. If u can abuse that your laner is forced to go for bad trades or weird farm that u can abuse, then it’s definitely the right time.
sorry but i didnt learn anything from that either :/, Ive watched over 12 videos and i still dnot get it, I can only freeze when the oponnent has 4 more minnions.. But when i freeze my minnions will come first because their closer to my turret right? So i cant perma freeze
Ty but can you try to speak more clear next time? It made some information harder to grasp and understand as I had to rewind a couple of times to try and understand what you're saying. For example 0:51 - Freezing is also good when you want to (inaudible) champion down your lane. I still do not know what you said, i suppose all in something but it is really hard to tell.
@@ungezoockt No problems my man. It's worth it in niche situations cause it allows you deny CS to your opponent (if they are coming back to lane) and also keeps your lane in a safe spot from ganks as its closer to your tower. I'd recommend practising in custom to get a feel for how to do it, the basic key principle is that the the bigger the wave the faster it will be pushed to your tower, for example; the entire waves DPS is 100%, casters do 90% of that damage, melees do the other 10%, If the enemy wave has 3 melee minions (front line beefy ones) and 3 caster minions and our friendly wave has 2 melee minions and 1 casters minion it means that the enemy wave has more DPS and will naturally shove into our tower (without any interference from us of course). If you can keep that wave small enough it means we can manipulate the lane to keep the wave where we want to avoid ganks.
@@quickleague9200 OH, I can be save from ganks. But is it useful to freeze a lane near the tower of the enemy? And to freeze a lane I need to even out the minions/dps, right? And just thank you for helping me. You don't see often ytbers intacting with their viewer through comments.
@@ungezoockt Freezing infront of the enemies tower isn't possible for very long, nor is it a good idea. It's not possible because the minion waves leave the nexus at the exact same time, their wave will always crash into the wave first meaning it will shove faster, its also a bad situation if you are near your laners tower because you're very prone to ganks. Yes exactly :) Trim out the wave as best as possible so the minion deficient isnt too large but not too small either. No problems, I enjoy helping :) Gl
ok real question. why can i never freeze my lane by my tower. like even with no opponent in lane. i literally wait to last hit every minion right outside turret range. no tower shots. yet my wave always builds up super fast and pushes. what am i doing wrong lol.
Hmm, It would be hard to say without watching what's going on. Are you making sure that the enemy has a 1 wave surplus? Whats the minion deficit you usually go for when setting up a freeze?

Very good guide but i just wanted to add more :
the 3 minion rule:
subtract the number of Full hp ranged minion from both waves the diffrence in number indicates the number of waves needed for the frreze to break naturally without champion intervention.
eg if red wave has a net of 2full hp of ranged minions over the blue wave this means that red wave will need 2 more waves to overpower the blue minion wave and slow push instead of freezing 🥶 ie start moving forward to the enemy tower
If the wave has net diffrence of 4 full hp ranged minions it will slow push not freez which leads you to thining the wave out ie killing the 4th minion
Extra Challenger tip 😅: dont try to sett a freez on the cannon miniin wave cannons are valiable and their targetting system is unpredictable always go for the cannon 😉
Slow pushing = kill only CASTER minions and leave the wave this will slow push .the aim of slow pushing is to make the enemy champion loose alot of ca when a big wave crashes under tower so dont slow push and just leave a big wave for the enemy to farm away from tower range make sure that the wave eventually crashwa under tower
Ie a slow wave must crash
Challenged tip 2 😉: last hit minions as low hp as possible have seen players last hit minions with 30 or even 40 % hp
Slow push : alot of people think slow pushing is killing all wave and that is not tru at all . Slow push means killing the melee minions so the enemy is forced to stay and farm the ranged minions and you recall before h get back in lane before him and either get plates controll the next wave ( usually freez it again )
So where to practice all this :top lane vs bot
Then top lane vs players
Challenger tip 3 😀: if u really want to master the art of wave manipulation try winning a bot game 1 v 1 with out getting a single kill on waves crashing and hitting towers
Remember always u dont play against a champion you play against minions. Enemy champion is only here to throw your minion game off. Thats why they always show the gold diffrence in pro games it is not how many kills you got it is how much gold you got
(Edit): started explaining wave freez ended up explaining the whole game's macro
Sorry it is so long
great video!
underrated youtuber
If your wave already outnumbers the enemy wave, is it possible to freeze, or can you only achieve a slow push?
That's the part I don't understand on how to freeze - you can't kill your own minions, so how do you ensure that the enemy wave outnumbers yours? It seems as if the slowest you can thin out the enemy wave is to last hit, but doesn't only last hitting lead to a slow push?
You could let the opposing laner get some free autos on you without hitting them back, your caster minions will attack your lane opponent (thus not autoing the creep wave)
Of course this means you might take a bad trade in the process, and you need to be a big enough threat where you can defend your freeze (not letting the enemy top kill minions and push it into tower to reset).
Not sure if that all made sense, but sometimes you just cant create a freeze, but there are always things you can do here and there and you'll sort of just learn wave management the more you play, as long as your mindful of it.
very helpfull and understandable points , thanx
but i would like to also know the other ramifications
instince one : in the first kill of aatrox , if the minions couldnt get freezed , what do u do then ?
two: after slowpushing if aatrox played safe under tower and u coudnt kill him what do u do next ? back, vision?
ty if someone replies!
Would your slowpush become even bigger if you would have focused caster minions before melees
Correct :)
nice vid. but when you are talking about something try to zoom in to it.
actually good finally understand this shsit better tbh
Great video
How many extra casters should the enemy wave have compared to mine so the freeze can hold? Is 3 extra enough
My advice is to go in a custom and get a feel for the correct number :) - It depends on the size of your wave and the enemies.
That helps so much instead of the usual "so yeah freezing is this..." okay cool but.. why ? Thank you✨
nice one
can you tell me how to practice your E fast trow skils cuz i miss many times and i playing more then 60 games her (irelia)
Thank you!
im 13 and im getting pretty good at lol and this really helped did u misclick or something bc i saw at 4:17 u put a control ward down and idk if theres some kind of strategy to this or if it was accidental
Complete misclick! haha
extremly good info! but is the music in the background rly necessary?
Probably not, just thought some background music would be a nice touch :)
@@quickleague9200 something less distracting :)
why is the pink ward down ?
finally a good fucking guide
Glad you enjoyed it brother
NICE perfect
loved it
Why only 300 subs
Is there a certain amount of minions I should try having to freeze the lane.
Not really, just make sure opponents wave has a surplus of about 2 - 5! The bigger the surplus the harder it will be to maintain a freeze :)
I don't even play lol but here I am
Good to have you :)
This helped alot
I'm glad :)
im hard stuck iron/bronze. i always fall behind in cs and this should help me thx
Others UA-camrs: How to freeze lane (playing vs Bots) '_'
is there a specific minion kill pattern u have to use
As long as your opponents minions outnumber yours :) The bigger the difference the harder it will shove against your wave so its important to keep thinning the wave.
@@quickleague9200 Thanks
The last upload 4 Y AGO :(
I've moved on sadly D:
this helped but not alot.. i still dont know when i should freeze
All I'm staring at is ur perma 14 ping.. 🤤
But how do i keep his minnions alive?
by not killing them
I still don't get how to freeze ㅠㅠ
Ty but can you try to speak more clear next time? It made some information harder to grasp and understand as I had to rewind a couple of times to try and understand what you're saying. For example 0:51 - Freezing is also good when you want to (inaudible) champion down your lane. I still do not know what you said, i suppose all in something but it is really hard to tell.
JG DIFF.
Bruh, I still don't understand how to freeze.
What's confusing you bruh
@@quickleague9200 kinda don't get how many to last hit and if it's even that worth it.
I'm newbie so thanks for the reply! 👌
This is better will apply to wildrift
cant hear u
I don't understand
ok real question. why can i never freeze my lane by my tower. like even with no opponent in lane. i literally wait to last hit every minion right outside turret range. no tower shots. yet my wave always builds up super fast and pushes. what am i doing wrong lol.
Hmm, It would be hard to say without watching what's going on. Are you making sure that the enemy has a 1 wave surplus? Whats the minion deficit you usually go for when setting up a freeze?
smurfing is bad >:(
