shok thank you for the lessons. as a new player it's really hard to pick up all the strategies in league. it definitely makes it easier with your guides👍
Babe! wakeup! We'll be late for our wave management lesson with shok
Yes honey
I was late
Hands down, this is the best wave control guide I've ever seen. The only thing that I missed in here is the advantage of diving with a big wave to increase the probability of a successful dive and to deny a huge amount of creeps.
All of your guides are so condensed and straight to the point while taken many factors into account. I love it!
yeah, i am low elo and just learning viktor and whenever i play him, i just lose cause i either die 1 vs 1 or get camped, after this guide, i just freeze the wave in front of my tower and scaled to late game, plus with viktor's great waveclear, i can punish roams by simply pinging and turning that freeze into a fast push, ended up even getting a quadra at that game
Not anymore
i genuinely believe shok makes the best, most in-depth guides for league beginners. cannot even begin to express how helpful your channel has been for me as somebody new to the game. this is literally the first time i’ve ever heard somebody take the time to explain in clear steps how to set up a freeze, not just a quick definition of what a freeze is. the extra time and effort put into these videos is very much appreciated
Thank you
I absolutely love that you make real educational videos.
Most "guides" are just gameplay montages with no commentary.
Or just basic twitch stream comments while playing.
Real guides are rare and so appreciated by new players coming into to the game
Thanks homie
Honestly, I love these types of vids covering contents that usually develop over time. As a new player, I love seeing these and hope I can get more of these in the future. Thanks for the great content Shok!
Your content puts so many others to shame, wow. Clear, concise, high-value, zero fluff, thank you.
Shok, I am a jungler learning wave states so I can improve my jungling over all and eventually climb to diamond. Your guides have given great insight and an amazing starting point for that. Your advice and invaluable information is helping more than just laners, and I can’t thank you enough for that bro.
You're very welcome
thank you very much! I really hope your content gets more credit, you really deserve it
Thanks
I just subbed. You're extremely underrated. Hope you get the recognition you deserve
Thanks Shok for this guide, I’m quite new to league and this is going to really help me with my laning.
Just found this because I was depressed that my performance on talon (My one trick who I LOVE playing) was absolutely abysmal recently and was recommended wave management tips from a plat/diamond friend. I saw your playlist talking about mid fundamentals, and after watching this specific video I think I know what I'll be doing for the next 6 or 7 hours
I love this channel, definitely the most useful and understandable videos out of all the league guide channels
when you caught sylas trying to cheese you at 22:14 he has the best emote in response
Happy you're back! Love your content.
This channel deserves more attention.
Amazing video! Keep up the top tier content:D
Your thumbnails are mad good, they def stand out, feels almost official
this is honestly the best league video of all. wave control is by far the most important concept in the game and the way you teach it is clear and precise.
I´ve found some very good playstyles that I would have never thougt about before. Your a real help. Thank You!!!
I absolutely love your videos! This are the most useful LOL videos!
Amazing guide as always
Wow that was probably one of the best guide about wave control I’ve ever watched. I’m relatively high elo master 400LP so I know about most of these strats but sometimes just not sure how to execute them properly and when to execute them. Awesome guide!
Thanks :D
the best coach on UA-cam is back !! nice !
22:19 Sylas emote only confirms Shok's commentary at this point :D
Dude... thank you. THANK YOU.
Love the guides bro
so many comments already! love your indepth guides thanks papo shok
Great stuff dude!
i really appreciate your effort, ty
I've finally understood something about the whole Minion waves control management.
This may explain why I tend to lose when I play MID...
Anyway, thanks for the clear explanation
Great Guide.
As Mordekaiser Main i start freezing since min 1 and never stop, even against equal opponents. The outcome of the 1v1 doesn't depend that much on who has a minion advantage, it's more if i hit my q+e. If an equally strong opponent engages and i miss my Q+E, even a big minion advantage won't help. Under tower i can just try to hit my E over and over again till i find a good engage and also poke safely under tower with my Q. So against stronger opponents i need to freeze anyway to no get run down, against equal opponents i freeze and against weaker i will freeze too. Against ranged i freeze anyway to run them down.
I think the best skill is to know when to do each of this wave control techniques. But that is something you learn by playing and OBSERVING the effects of what you decided to do.
I was hardstuck silver for years now but this season finally got out of it and even reached plat. I never understood wave control and now finally decided to learn it :D And this is a great guide!
Cheers homie and congrats on plat!
great video!
Someone else comment/reply if I am wrong or would like to add anything I am missing but I am new to LoL and mid in general and have had success with this method (mainly early game):
Slow push and look for short trades to gain HP advantage
Once you have established a creep and HP advantage the lane is yours
Crash on 3rd wave (cannon) but don't base right away
Poke enemy under turret as much as possible for another couple seconds
Now they hopefully have lower HP than before and you base
They have to either stay in lane with lower HP and crash the waves to your turret which is unlikely because it was cannon wave and its early game so they are relatively weak at clearing and you pressured them a lot under their own turret, so you should be able to come back to the lane in time before they even crash if they do decide this and just bully them off the wave/lane now and establish a freeze or a neutral wave state since you came back to lane with full HP and better tempo.
If they match your base timing they lose a lot of minions because now your minions are dying near their side of the lane and the wave will slow push out to you anyway because you crashed it earlier. So their next wave reinforcements meet closer to their side of the lane and because there are more of them, they kill your minions faster denying the enemy laner all that CS
If they try to stay and crash you can freeze and that is good and so is the neutral wave state because you have slight item advantage AND you are making your opponent step up more into the lane to farm which leaves them susceptible to ganks as this video entailed. If they push out only one wave and are late to recall the wave should be in a neutral wave state then which is also favorable.
This will of course not work for all champs, I have had huge success doing this though with Swain personally as he is the only mid laner I know right now and am playing, looking to try to learn Viktor and other champs so I have a pocket pick if needed. As I said feel free anyone to add to this, I am still a novice to the game and started earlier this year and have maybe 60 mid lane games total. Thanks for the video!
Ive started playing league 2-3 months ago and im searching for good videos about wave management.hope this one helps
Thank you ♥️
Just finished your vision video and started implementing it. It has helped me tremendously. And now you post this? It feels like I should be paying for these videos. Thanks Shok once again!
I needed way too long to find this channel
great video as always Shok. Will you make a general items guide in the future?
I think so, it might be something I do at the start of the next season though because most likely the items will all change again
Time to learn this 😎 got up to d2 as sona with 0 knowledge about wave management time to learn
You are my fave leauge youtuber!
Thanks homie
Wow, freezing into base surprised me i really didn't know that 🤯
Thanks!
my bronze head hurts
TY BROSKI
Honestly I think a connection should have been made between sustainability and freezing. Champions with inherent healing or life steal are significantly better at freezing, cuz the enemy will have difficulty poking you down
Ayyy wave management I needed this haha,
-Fizz Student
13:55 good summary
i actually got absolutely rolled by a smurf leblanc and zac while i was playing viktor. I had flashbacks when you did that.
Sorry sir
So to summarize, sometimes its good to push the lane, sometimes its not. Unless you know the distance from the earths moon to any of saturn's moons, you will still be clueless. Thanks for trying!
nice guide btw i find it rly funny how you close your eyes every 2 secondes as you speak
Too busy seeing the future
@@ShokLeague ooh that's what it is it makes sense now
helpful comment
My date says she is bored, but I learned so much. Thanks
Could you maybe make a Tutorial on what makes a good Team comp and how to play different strategies, because I don't know any good ones that work?
I think it doesn't matter a huge amount, but I should make a video on it.
This is quality
Great video! Are you going to stream again anytime soon?
SoonTM
Great videos, too many videos are way to specific about the match up and few of them actually talk about the basic fundamentals that apply to all champions.
minion genie right here👌👌
When trying to freeze or slow push, do you try to kill cannon minion if it's available?
Yes I normally do because the cannon pushes faster than you would like so it makes it both harder to freeze and harder to slowpush
hey, really learnt something new from this video, but I have a question, how Corki could "counter" that "strat" ? 18:51
He shouldn't hit the wave at all and just play to last hit, then I will draw creep aggro when I Q him and it will push to him so he can farm safely
@@ShokLeague ty mate !
17:50 in this scenario, how is syndra supposed to stop yone from trimming the wave?
Hey shok what champions do u like to play the most, what do u play the most, what did u main, and do u have any tip for a mir laner
Favorite champions are probably LB/Cassio, most played of all time I think is Cass > Syndra > Ori, I've mained most champs at some point though. Biggest tip for mid laners are to work on your laning phase and to have a good blind pick
Such a good guide thank you!! I have a question: I believe I totally understand why this lane state is beneficial for you here 21:10. But why is it awkward for Vex to base here 22:47 ? Is it because there are less minions and it’s technically not a freeze or is it because you have tp and you can easily come back and crash it? Or is it both?
Basically the wave is too big for him to push and crash without me TPing back, but also too close to his tower to recall without having it crash under his tower. So TLDR he can't recall without losing something so he's gonna stay in lane, which means i can TP back and use my item advantage
@@ShokLeague oooh I see, a solid lose-lose situation for her, thanks to the tp advantage as the section indicates ofc. Idk why I thought she could somehow match your tp tempo to stop that wave crash 😅 I gotta start being more conscious on that. _Thank you for answering!_ And again, for such practical guide ❤️
I'm always scared to back with the tp+freeze combo if my jungler isnt dead lol
hahah true
Me: "Mom!!!!! Shok uploaded a new In-Depth guide!"
Mom: *Hits the air siren button in our house* "Epic"
Me: *Grabs the popcorn and a notepad* "Let's watch this masterpiece"
yes
when doing a 3 wave crash do we crash ASAP or do we aim for a 3:15 crash?
Depends what you want, the longer you can drag it out the better for harassing your opponent, but it will take longer to ward or use the priority for something
Do you think ahri will be nerfed soon? I've felt like I havent wanted to practice her because i've been expecting nerfs for months, but they never seem to arrive.
Honestly kinda doubt it
I really like your voice 😅
It's 7 am almost (EU central)
I should go to bed
Shok uploads
Guess I won't sleep today
Guess you gotta watch the video 300 times to absorb it all in too
Can someone explain what it means when you say a wave crash? I understand it kind of, but nobody really explains what a wave crash is. And when you say 3 or 4 wave crash, what does that mean?
Just pushing a wave under tower (crashing) and then it'll bounce back to you. 3 or 4 wave crash means which wave you'll crash it on e.g. the first wave of the game is wave 1. So a 3 wave crash is to have the wave push under tower at wave number 3
Thank you for that explanation!@@ShokLeague
i'm sorry, a off topic question: is for you possible hit diamond/master from a bad pc with 60 fps and good ping? main mid
I think so yes. Unless you lag so much that teamfights are unplayable, and even then it might still be possible if you split push instead.
@@ShokLeague thanks man, for the answer and for your videos
How big should be the minnion advantage in freezing at mid
3 more creeps than yours is normally fine, it can be less or more depending on how strong you are and if you can hold the wave or not
Thx
Any ex-autoshovers???
1:07 why does the opponent try to stop you crashing the wave?
If you crash 3 waves you can roam, base, get deep wards etc. If they stop me from crashing the wave it will be frozen outside their tower, I will be very gankable and unable to trade or base.
open stream sometimes man
Could you go more in depth about how to improve outside of playing? I’ve heard you talk about trying to avoid mindlessly spamming games but I also know I need to get a ton of games in if I ever want to hit diamond. How do I get that balance between learning and practicing
Yeah really good question, imo it's not so much about setting an exact amount of say e.g. for every 3 games played watch 1 vod. It's more about making sure you're actually taking away things from the games. If you aren't learning from your games maybe you need to review your own games or watch someone else to get an idea of what they do that you don't.
Basically, if you feel like you're just queueing up, autopiloting and playing somewhat mindlessly then you should probably watch some vods (either your own or others) and identify some things you can focus on when you play your next games.
@@ShokLeague thanks for responding this helps a lot and I will be reviewing lots today hopefully improving lots too
hey shok, how do you cheater without losing 3+ minions?
Just have to be able to clear the wave faster so that you can base quicker. Either build up more minions, use more mana on the wave or play a champ with more waveclear.
Kindred adc with riven supp? 21:17
lmao I don't remember this game I wonder who won
i play himerdingher ,how to slow push?:
😂😂😂
why do u call them creeps?
Just another word for them
Bro blinks at 0.5 speed 😕
hahah true
Kuality kontent
Great guide but in my pisslow elo these monkeys dont even know that freezing exists so i cant predict what theyll do😂
shok mate u should start an onlyfans
