My absolute pleasure. Yes, everything is done on the cheap these days where possible, generally, not just theme parks! I can still vaguely remember walking past this building site and being confronted by the security characters who patrolled the area . I would probably only have been in my early/mid teens:)
@@AltonTowersMemories Oh there's still some big spenders out there doing amazing things with theming and ride experience - Phantasialand, Universal etc. I can't even bring myself to visit Towers any more these days given the state of the place, but these photos brought back happy memories. Like you I was in my mid teens seeing all of this going on on. That era between 1990 to around 2003/04 was absolutely amazing.

I'm ngl I wish that alton had made X sector into the mining town idea. So that oblivion was a drill. Going to drill for oil. It would have looked so cool. But X sector is still good tho!!!
What do we think then? As oblivion heads slowly towards its 30th birthday in 6 years time will it get a retrack like nemesis? My thinking is that i expect the strain on the supports is a lot less than nemsis due to the nature of the ride so it may last a while longer. Its a good ride and great engineering as shown in photo, its also a bit of a one trick pony and i wouldnt be that upset if it eventually went.
My personal feeling is that they may as well just keep it as long as it's financially viable. That's unless they can get planning permission for anything better in that area. Like you say though, it's not irreplaceable (unlike Nemesis).

I love Oblivion and all, but The Wickerman and The Smiler exist, they've got double if not triple the theming and landscaping.

@AltonTowersMemories If I'm being honest, I feel practically all of the Secret Weapons are in some way irreplaceable in my opinion.
