Its not easy to sing like chino. A lot of singers maintain their voice in different ways, perhaps brushing his teeth is soothing for him. Realistically it probably doesnt help much but if it soothes even a little then its worth it to help him finish the show. The spearmint flavor tends to be relaxing for the throat. You can tell hes losing his voice midway through. A normal singer could probably just drink water to help maintain their voice but few sing like chino. Thats my guess to why hed do it.
