The camera is not deep learning while using it, because there is no automatic way with new photos taken to reward or punish the neural net for it. 40 mp? IBIS? Double the battery life? If you recently picked up the xt3, enjoy it for the next year or two before you upgrade, but this is definitely an upgrade.
This is a good sign for Fuji's general health, the guy whose face Kai taped to a balloon had me worried. Hopefully more photo-centric cameras are on the way.
The xt100 which was a failure of a camera had a flip out screen that also could tilt which has allowed me to take photos at interesting angles without contorting my body. I wonder why they didn't put that kind of screen on this camera?
I like the Fuji X-T5 for its resolution - 40mp. On the other hand, trying to shoot birds in flight I'm not very thrilled about the *frustrating X-T5's autofocus shenanigans.*
Shoshin ni modoru - go back and remember the feeling of being a beginner. That's what I miss about photography. If a company can focus just on the basics again without video as well. Fuji had it good with the original X100 and Pro1 but then they became like everyone else.
Their has never been an issue with the camera since the X-T3 in "detecting" the subject, the real issue is does it focus. This is the biggest issue. You showing us it can detect, that's cool and we know it can do that, but you didn't talk about how many were out of focus. Sure it's preproduction, but focusing will not be one of those things that will be tweaked.
XH2 is a bit heavier and thicker but a larger grip, better suited to the the heavier lenses Fuji recommends to take full advantage of this sensor. XH2 has a higher resolution EVF. LCD screens are different designs. Different memory cards.
Why do people say shooting yourself is a video thing. Video is not shooting yourself just like photography is not selfies. 3 way tilt is superior in both video and stills when not shooting yourself. It's not a video vs stills thing except for UA-camr perspectives. And really it doesn't matter. Several manufacturers have the screen that does both so why isn't Fuji doing that screen. They screwed over their loyal customers with the x-h2 and 2s not having dials, and using marketing to pretend it's ok with this corner cut x-t5. I don't need 40 pixels, I want stacked fast sensor for faster autofocus, with better low light, and if I end up doing video I want the best options. I'm not stooping to a subpar outdated PASM workflow. If I wanted PASM i'd just switch systems. If you want to have better custom presets, actually do that right with *added* buttons and software like cinema cameras do. PASM does not excel in anything the way dials are strong with explicit adjustment, and the way cinema cameras are strong with custom workflows. Since they're taking away the signature experience for the top of the line, I guess the loyal customers that love the system for how it was designed can just fuck off.
The only feature of interest is the IBIS. But the lack of headphone jack makes it not great for video. Though the video specs are nothing to sneeze at. Sure you can use an external recorder, but thats just more stuff. Guess I'll stick with my XT3. Maybe pick up a used XT4 which will surely be dropping in price.
Will Fuji actually be able to supply enough of these for them to not be always out of stock everywhere? I'm not talking pandemic supply chain problems, pretty much the only two Fuji models you could get before the pandemic was the X-T30 and X-Pro3, the prior because everyone wanted the X-E4 or X-T3, the latter because of the polarizing rear displays. I'll be interested when an X100 comes out they can keep in stock so they don't cost 2k used. It'll prob be that new at this point with them claiming "NEW SENSOR HIGH RES" bull that isn't needed anyway. At this point an X-Pro3 with a 23 or 27mm lens is there same price and easier to get than an X100V. The new 35mm equivalent lens in the X100V is a lot better than the interchangable lens version along with other parts. If only OM would get enough money from their new overlords to make a new Pen-F that's weather sealed with the same internals as the OM-5 with the OM-1 menus like the 5 should have. I've had a lot easier time with OM-1 raw files than my X-T3, and the sample jpeg and raws from the OM-5 have been great too (should be, it's basically just an EM-1.3).
Lovely. I’m looking forward to the new generation of X-E and X-Pro. I 💚 fujifilm’s rangefinder-style cameras. It might be too soon to upgrade from my X-E5, though. ;)
Waiting for the next xpro camera. Hoping fuji would release full frame systems. I've never had fuji nor full frame system before but would love to jump into full frame but i do love fuji system/film recipes. kinda torn 🤷
The X-T4 does focus bracketing (not stacking, which is in-camera processing of the bracketed shots into one image). As far as I know, Fuji haven't introduced in-camera stacking on any recent models.
And yet they bring back the flippy screen. I don't get it. Choose one or or the other, Fuji. Don't have video features, but then slap on a stupid flippy screen and make video useless.
And made for filmmakers and videographers too. We don’t want the side hinged selfie screen, none of us shoot ourselves whilst working. Only UA-camrs think we want the side hinged rubbish. The tilt screen is perfect, the side hinged flippy screen is too slow, cumbersome and obtrusive. Thanks.
No vertical grip = No purchase from me. Its absolutely needed for the way i shoot. I own an xh1 today but want to replace it cause it doesnt feel right to handle.
Can someone tell me how far you can flip the screen when holding the camera vertically. So far I have only seen how people flip the screen when holding it horizontal.
If you're going to spend almost $2k on a Fuji, why wouldn't you just spend that same amount on a used GFX at this point? I picked up a used GFX 50R in that price range almost a year ago and I think I've used my X-T3 twice since then....
Honestly, it really isn't all that impressive to me. Just feels like it's missing shooting modes and more important button/knob adjustment options that SHOULD be on the camera body, but aren't. I really WAS considering purchasing this one, but after the XT-3, I just cannot go with that kind of screen. It's insanely annoying.
@@stockwatches that would be cool, I've found I dont use the pro features as much on my xt3 (but they are useful occasionally) so would be nice to have a smaller alternative for day to day
Deep Learning does not mean the camera learns in use haha. Deep Learning is a method to train a piece of software before it gets shipped. So the only way for your camera to learn something new is via firmware update. The learning process itself is very demanding in terms of data needed and computation. So it is typically done on super computers. Imagine a kid that is stuck at its current level of skill until it gets an update. We are still at least a decade away from hardware that learns on the fly using neural nets. I' not sure if it will be any useful though. There is not only good stuff to learn. Learning how to not focus right and pi** you off is also an option for mindless machines :) That's why today's machine learning is supervised by engineers.
Thank you very much, great video! I love my sony A1 and the lens selection but frankly their lack of substantial/meaningful firmware updates is embarrassing! Even for their "Flagship camera". Focus breathing compensation came out with A7SIII (OCT 2020) and still not available for the A1!!!! So I don't see the new focus stacking (A7RV) making its way to other models. Also $1200 for a CF express type A is disgusting!!!

Fantastic now put the chip, processor and flip up screen on an xpro body!
Sure it's preproduction, but focusing will not be one of those things that will be tweaked.
yes, the xt3 was a stinker for eyebrow focus. eyeAF on the pupil, not so much
So is the difference between the H2 and the X-T5 just the form factor? Less dials?
And less video specs. X-T5 is aimed strictly at photographers who might occasionally shoot videos of cats walking past the street just for giggles.
XH2 is a bit heavier and thicker but a larger grip, better suited to the the heavier lenses Fuji recommends to take full advantage of this sensor. XH2 has a higher resolution EVF. LCD screens are different designs. Different memory cards.
Any info on the XPro 4?
The day a camera company defies physics and makes a FF camera with this form factor and lens size, I will be a happy man!
Sony A7c LOL
sigma fp and their contemporary lenses are smaller than this and shoot FF at 12bit
@@burnerr
Sigma Fp does not have a shutter so you cannot really use that for photography unless you do landscape.
@@SMGJohn fair enough
@@SMGJohn the key is that lenses need to be smaller. A small camera with a 2lb 24-70 w an 82mm diameter is uncomfortable and looks ridiculous.
I've had a lot easier time with OM-1 raw files than my X-T3, and the sample jpeg and raws from the OM-5 have been great too (should be, it's basically just an EM-1.3).
just got mine love it
Eh... the screen is actually 3-way tilting, not 2-way. ua-cam.com/video/ttjMTfxh1Po/v-deo.html
Well, it's more of a 2.5-way tilting screen :-)
Now that you got the macro on, does it do focus stacking in camera? Like the R7 and R10?
X-T4 does it. I would assume so.
The X-T4 does focus bracketing (not stacking, which is in-camera processing of the bracketed shots into one image). As far as I know, Fuji haven't introduced in-camera stacking on any recent models.
"you can massage me" if anybody needs a massage it's me!
Somehow fujifilm manages to push its flagship cameras (X H 1 and X H2) to the backseat. But why? What's wrong with X-H2 ?
Which one is faster on auto focus, sony or fuji ?
Canon
Sony, but it isn't a blowout. Fuji is very good and likely enough for whatever you are doing.
@@fluphybunny930 funny
i was hoping they would bring back the metering dial. the still, movie one seems like a waste.
And yet they bring back the flippy screen. I don't get it. Choose one or or the other, Fuji. Don't have video features, but then slap on a stupid flippy screen and make video useless.
Nice one Kai enjoy your style on these
And made for filmmakers and videographers too. We don’t want the side hinged selfie screen, none of us shoot ourselves whilst working.
Only UA-camrs think we want the side hinged rubbish.
The tilt screen is perfect, the side hinged flippy screen is too slow, cumbersome and obtrusive.
Thanks.
We need a monochrome version with a dozen black and white sims.
Waiting for XT2 and XH1 to go down with their price!
i would like a vertical grip still.
Great review Kai
Loving the content drop ❤
No vertical grip = No purchase from me. Its absolutely needed for the way i shoot. I own an xh1 today but want to replace it cause it doesnt feel right to handle.
No battery grip? :C
The whole point is lightness.
Want a battery grip? Get an H body.
@@Mamo878 You forgot that you can detach the grip. Wanna go light? Grip goes out. Need more battery you got it. For me the point is flexibility.
Can someone tell me how far you can flip the screen when holding the camera vertically. So far I have only seen how people flip the screen when holding it horizontal.
about 45 degree
With price well south of 2K quids, Fuji could some some great 1 and 2 lens packages undercutting Full from competition
Full what?
@@fluphybunny930 dunno forgot, weird typo
why didn't they put this screen on x-h2?
Because flippy screens suck.
Does it mean I cant mount L bracket on this design?
You can
was looking to buy h2s but i might as well save some money and get t5 and maybe get a new lense
it will be major upgrade from t1 anyway 😂
I just wish they’d put the super cool Fujinon logo from the XPro1… so much cooler… and no doubt at the heart of great photos
I am waiting for new X100 generation, anyone ?
If you're going to spend almost $2k on a Fuji, why wouldn't you just spend that same amount on a used GFX at this point? I picked up a used GFX 50R in that price range almost a year ago and I think I've used my X-T3 twice since then....
Quietly waiting for the Fujifilm XS-1 😉
Or xs-20
Love it! Thanks
Is it just me or is the frame rate a bit off in this video?
looks great, wish they could make it slightly smaller on the next upgrade!
Maybe they'll bring out an x-t40 or something around the same size as the x-t30.
@@stockwatches that would be cool, I've found I dont use the pro features as much on my xt3 (but they are useful occasionally) so would be nice to have a smaller alternative for day to day
xpro3 still undefeated
Some people want IBIS. Go figure.
Great to have a lot of Fuji body options! Choose the one that fits YOUR needs.
I don't care about the battery grip, but I got to play with an X-S10 a while ago, and I really love the bigger grip on the side of the body. Kind of wish the X-T5 was shaped more like that.
Great Video
