    Great video. Here's the tip for these trucks - make sure the lights are off in your truck when you plug in the trailer lights. If you do that every time, you won't blow the fuse.

      Always something back there last ~10 years; battery, fuses box, air filter, brake fluid, they mount something necessary under the cowl to help the crash rating or weight distribution. Sucks but it's the future.

    I have a 06 f150 with a 5.4 Triton. I've noticed that the wiring over time really starts to corrode and the plastic plugs start to become very brittle. I've broken countless plugs from simply disconnecting things from servicing my own truck. Luckily I've picked up soldering and welding plastic back together... Just by using the same tool. Some good learning on this channel. Thank you.

      And good money for those good at it who don't take weeks complaining about a job. There are so many crying products marketed to people who don't want to think about it or get frustrated, and unfortunately that product is only going to fix the problem for a year before it falls apart or has corosion again.
      I usually install flat 4 pin connector with a Weather-Pack disconnect for future replacement. And the larger trailer connectors with a Metri-Pack hybrid disconnect under the frame for future replacement. Ford doesn't have the best design history in connectors, either not water tight or the terminals lost the spring pressure contact after 10 cycles.
      Always use good grease! I recommend DeoxIT, better than anything OEM!

    I can tell you exactly why fuse 10 it comes blown and it's not because of poor grounding on the trailer that actually had 3 systems which reduces the current just the opposite it has to do when plugging in the trailer block the flatwood and the lights on the vehicle are on it's real easy to short the ground which is right next to it to the pin which is the trailer lights that's why F10 gets trashed so easily thank you very much for the helpful I just burned mine out and doing just what I said and guess what it's dark and finding F10 was an easy thank you

    Pick up some test plugs. They plug into the connector and have LED lights to allow you to verify all the circuits at a glance. They are not expensive and save time checking to see if anything works. I also test my trailer wiring integrity by plugging it in without having the ball touching the hitch. If they don't work your ground thru the connector is out. The inspect all the trailer wiring is a good idea because all kind of sand, dirt and rocks are kicked up and can hit any exposed wiring while going down the road. Road spray is also very aggressive to wiring and connections.

    A bad ground will do the opposite: it will add resistance to the circuit which reduces the current thru the circuit. A bad ground will keep your lights from coming on bright, or at all, but it shouldn't blow a fuse. I would be looking for some frayed wire insulation (particularly where the wiring goes thru a hole in the sheet metal) that is making an intermittent short with the trailer body. This may only happen while you are driving and the vibration causes the frayed wire to momentarily touch the trailer body.

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  2 роки тому +2

      This is not completely true because if a computer doesn't see a good ground it could possibly increase voltage flow in some situations depending on how it's regulated
      Don't act like a now it all here...one of my rules please respect that

    This happened to my work truck, 2020 f350, dealer fixed it under warranty, they said plug was corroded and ground was shorted out in the harness above the axle. First they replace the plug and fuse and it still didnt work and then they had to chase the short in the harness. Truck is only 9 months old, crazy.

I have cleaned and greeted connections but still nothing. Can't find a burnt fuse. Have been to at least a half dozen dealers who don't have time to look at it and called at least 30 that said the same thing. I'm pulling a total average 35k lbs daily and need this fixed. I've been watching your videos and find them interesting and you seem like a stand-up guy appreciate that so I thought I'd fire question at you I have 2020 Chevy Malibu that's due for a trans service the manual says at 45k replace fluid and filter I also have a 2021 GMC at4 with the 10-speed transmission that from what I read Ford pretty much designed it and the manual says the same thing for the trans service so I called the dealer about getting the Malibu's fluid and filter changed and they want to sell me a trans flush I know some Transmissions have a metal screen to catch debris not sure what either transmission has for a filter but if it's more of a traditional trans filter I don't feel like flushing it is cleaning it whereas if it was a metal screen I can see backflushing would work so what is your thoughts on the trans flushes?
    Thanks in advance

    • @FordBossMe
      @FordBossMe  3 роки тому +3

      Replacing the filter and the fluid right now would probably be a good idea on the Malibu on the 84 with a 10-speed I think that's the equivalent our 10r80 right?
      I know whenever I flush these Transmissions I have to do it a very particular way my first remove whatever is in the pan and then I refill it with fresh fluid and then while the vehicle is in the air I insert a tube into the side of the transmission and then lower the vehicle with it running and I continue to put in and pull out one quart at a time because there's a thermostatic control for the new 10-speed transmissions and the vehicle has to be running in up to operating temperature in order for it to flow properly
      So after I pull the for 4 and 1/2 quarts out inside the pan I'll continue to run it and as it's running I will cycle one quart at a time in and out to pull out within their it's never going to be a complete actual true flush with that transmission
      And to pull the filter and fluid out of that it's kind of a bear and it's going to cost quite a bit of money most of the time with low mileage people just do flushes anyway because nothing's coming apart inside the transmission so there's real no worry about replacing the filter until you get closer to like 80,000 miles maybe a hundred thousand miles and even at that most people still don't do the filter inside the trans
