- well hello everyone, in this video I will share more of my unpopular opinions about taylor swift with you. in fact, I am mixing it up this time by adding in some ASMR. how do y'all feel about that? I personally love it, but I know that some people are definitely not a fan...anyway, I've pre-filmed another video so I'll have more coming soon. feeling very legendary with the amount I'm uploading at the moment. hopefully there will be new content on the podcast soon. btw it is my birthday on wednesday and I am freaking out about turning 25. is that a good age? it doesn't seem like that to me....okay i'm rambling bye

So glad I found you and we have almost the exact same taste for Taylor songs. Dorathea, Happiness and Coney Island are big skips and Right where you left me and Tis the damn season are criminally underrated. Epiphany is my only skip on folklore and the best songs are illicit affairs and the lakes and that's just how it goes.
I loved dorothea when i first heard it but then it kinda just got boring to me. But yes 100% coney island is a skip i hate the national's voice

My best friend has a theory that 1989 TV was actually supposed to come after Fearless TV which would explain the weird Red TV rollout! We got SO many hints about 1989 TV to the point that we were all CONVINCED it was coming next, but my best friend said she heard there was a disagreement or some kind of conflict or something (can't remember the details, she shared this theory a couple months ago) involving one of the producers (again, I have no idea what exactly she said or what might have actually happened) so it got pushed back kind of last minute and we got Red TV in its place. If Red TV was the backup plan, that might explain why the rollout was confusing and not as well thought out as the Fearless TV rollout! That's the only theory that makes sense to me though, I mean Wildest Dreams TV was used in that horse movie way back in June, 1989 TV HAD to have been next until things changed last minute!

i’m pretty much new to taylor swift because i only started listening to her in february. so i’d like to know which album out of red, speak now and taylor swift should i listen to. i’ve listened to lover first (personally my fav) rep, fearless (original and taylor’s version), 1989(second fav) folklore and evermore (which i’m not really into). also i love this video 😩
Listen to speak now and then taylor swift and I recommend waiting until red Taylor’s version comes out on the 12th so you can truly get that hearing the album for the first time experience. Also your profile name is funny xD

It was super fun to see some of your most prized merch. I loved when you decided in the moment what was too precious to tap on - very cute. Could you do a video where you rank all the merch you own from least to most favourite, and mention anything you really wish you owned (that you could have feasibly bought or gained at some stage)?
You’re probably right that there’s a gap on UA-cam for Swiftie + ASMR content. If you’re serious about filling this niche, it would possibly be worth putting out this content on a separate channel. Something that could work as Swiftie/ASMR ongoing content is if you did a 5-10 min video for every Taylor Swift song (not necessarily in chronological order, a bit like the Holy Swift podcast). You could give any relevant background to the song, your past and present thoughts on the song, and there could be an opportunity for creating interesting sounds by picking out production elements (eg pen click in Blank Space, claps in YBWM, heart beat in Wildest Dreams). I’d watch the videos for the opinions, and you might pick up some viewers from the ASMR community.

I agree with ALL of your unpopular opinions. 1989 (Taylor’s Version)? Cannot possibly improve upon the original. The Red (Taylor’s Version) rollout? Cruel and unusual punishment. Joe Alwyn? I routinely forget that he exists. Lover? Ughhhhhhhhhh although Cruel Summer made it all worthwhile.
My hot take is that Tom Hiddleston was the best ex. The headlines were captivating. The candids were CINEMATIC. They’re both sensitive weirdos who happen to be celebrities. Homeboy has never said one unkind word about Taylor. I sometimes have to remind myself that they’re not married and living in a seaside castle with three curly-haired children and an English bulldog.

I LOVE your analysis on Taylor so much, have you done a full in depth analysis of lover? By streaming numbers alone that album was very successful but we all know that era wasn't. And I think its evident by how many interviews she was giving, appearances (the voice, Ellen, tiny desk, SNL etc) vs midnights. Midnights is SO successful she doesn't need to do any of that where as with Lover it felt like she was grasping at straws trying to make the album as big as possible. Would love your take on it plus the fashion during the Lover era was so horrendous as well, I think it added to the public's disinterest.
Honestly, a boring guy like Joe is what Taylor needs for a successful relationship. A non-threatened part-time actor who won’t have his pride hurt by her success. Tea but true 🤷🏻♀️

Interested to know others’ thoughts- is Joe Alwyn boring because we know virtually nothing about him, or is he simply an uninteresting person?
I feel like he might be a lot more interesting if we knew anything about him. If Taylor’s this smitten with him, he surely has a good head on his shoulders. I’m intrigued in his song writing ability if Taylor’s story about Betty is true, that she just overheard Joe singing the fully formed

i mean... she has been in love with assholes before, so I dont think her being in love with him tells us smth about his character. I just think he's very supportive and someone who likes listens, given that they met at a difficult time at her life and she probably needed that. Also, people tend to bond quickly when they feel like theyre in a low moment, if that other person is willing to offer a shoulder to cry on, and if youre already attracted to them, the chances of falling in love are very high.
But i wouldnt say he is boring. As you said, we know nothing about him. But personally I'm not particularly intrigued by him either (or their relationship), so to me he's uninteresting. However, other fans dont seem to think so, bc I've seen gush over him... and create their own headcanons about their relationship and how they think he is within this, which is super weird.

I’m with you on Dorothea. It’s fine. It’s nothing special, but it’s not the worst song ever. I don’t find it especially cringey. Far and away the most interesting thing about that song is that it’s the sister song to TTDS. The perspective in Dorothea makes TTDS sadder somehow, because Dorothea is telling her old flame not to wait for her, but in the song Dorothea, it’s clear he is waiting. Also, if we consider that TTDS might be at least partly based on Taylor and Drew, it’s interesting to think that she’s tried to write Dorothea from Drew’s perspective.

I’m sad to admit you’re probably right about 1989 TV. Both 1989 and Rep are going to be super weird as re records. I really just want those albums to be as close as possible to the original tracks, and I don’t especially care to hear anything in addition to that.
I don’t really get into ranking TS albums because they’re all so different, but if we’re looking only at relistenability, 1989 is my favourite TS album. The whole album (pretty much) slaps, and it’s the one I revisit most often. I will be most annoyed if she botches 1989 TV.
I will say that I’m doing my very best to withhold judgement until the album actually drops.

If you don’t want to watch the whole thing, the bit that’s worth a listen is from 15.25 (chasing the demo). I’m not sure the video comes close to actually answering the clickbait question (is TS the best artist of the decade); they get super granular about some pretty irrelevant shit, but they do give an interesting perspective on some things about the new vs old recordings.
