the wildest dreams controversy was people creating drama for the sake of it - if they knew anything about cinema history and what inspired the video, they wouldn't be out here saying it is "glorifying colonialism". totally agree that it's a beautiful video and deserves the most.

Even if these movies are part of cinema history doesn’t mean they weren’t problematic. “Wildest Dream” video is a masterpiece and doesn’t glorify colonialism, but a lot of those old white rom coms placed in Africa have a pro apartheid feel to them. She could’ve reference another type of genre like western or historical drama but whatever. My point is that there’s a valid reason for being against these types of movies, even if Taylor doesn’t deserve the hate from the mistakes these movies made, she could’ve reference any other film or film genre. Idk, just a POC point of view
Also Style is god tier for me! The faux home movie shots, the driving, the backless dress, the misty forest, the symbolism of the mirror shards--all incredible choices. The subtle sense of mystery is what makes it so compelling and so sexy. I was very meh on it in 2015 when the video first came out, but I've really come around on it; I think setting it in an obvious mansion would just turn it into Blank Space redux and Style is such a perfect song that it deserves its own unique visual identity.

I was like a casual till about 2019 and it was maybe middle of lover era and I watched the Me video and i actually didn’t have that many strong feelings about it but I hadn’t seen a lot of her country stuff so mean/mine/ our song blew me away. When All too well short film was released everyone was talking about it and it was so fun like even my friends stepsister who doesn’t know I even like Taylor brought up how amazing it was randomly.

Omg the Lover music video was so awful. The song is so beautiful and it worked perfectly with the old home video projector in the attic aesthetic. I thought that would be what the mv was going to be like. What the hell was that rainbow house about? Ugh it physically hurt. And the salad dressing joke? I nearly puked.
