@@milicacukanovic9955 i don't know about that i just remember a interview from lover era where she said she named the album reputation and wrote songs based around the name and she said that's the only time she had done that
it's so dumb to me that swifties are acting like we're in a drought .... we've been fed so much content in the past three years (lover, folklore, evermore, fearless tv, red tv). FIVE ALBUMS. IN THREE YEARS. let the woman rest 😭 these people would never have survived 2016-2017
(all in the last 3 years) don’t forget: ME! music video, ME! performances at the bmas, the voice, and the graham norton show, yntcd music video, lover music video, lover lounge, lover album, lover and false god on snl, lover ft shawn mendes, beautiful ghosts, lover remix, AMA performance, christmas tree farm, miss americana, only the young, the man music video, cornelia street/lover/yntcd/ME!/daylight/the archer/dbatc/the man live from paris, folklore album, cardigan music video, cardigan (cabin in candlelight), the lakes, betty (live), the long pond studio sessions, evermore album, willow music video, willow remixes, it’s time to go and rwylm, grammys performance and aoty, love story (tv+elvira remix), fearless (tv), the best day music video, the lake original version, wildest dreams (tv), red (tv), atw 10 minute version/short film/atw 10 min premiere/atw 10 min snl performance/atw sad girl autumn at the long pond studio, appearances on seth meyers and jimmy fallon and three sad virgins (snl), ibytam music video, message in a bottle remix, the joker and the queen, this love tv, also her nyu grad speech, tribeca film festival, and carolina
for real! i'm actually a new swiftie but people acting like "ohhh where is sheeee, why isn't she releasing anything 😩" thing to me is very ridiculous, and i joined last year which was FULL of content, give her a break!!
Just realized that, as an older swiftie, i just generally tend to take these theories and water them down sooo much. Like the idea I had of karma (based on the spamming over the last weeks) was that maybe she had a couple songs written around that time, and that maybe she'll release them as rep vault sons. And that maybe her first idea for an album title was karma, but she then changed it. That's all I ever took from it, and it's always so baffling to me that people really believe this stuff lmaoo. Especially cause it's highly underestimating how long it takes to make good art!
Like Lover albums title almost being daylight. I think Reputation was titled Karma at first. But she probably changed it because "Karma" leans more towards drama than her relationships. But Reputation fits perfectly since it can be connected with her love life and her fueds...
Agreed on this but I don’t think Karma was even a consideration. It’s lame. Reputation is way better and is an actual theme. Karma as a title only applies to like three songs out of 15
I like the headcannon that there were a few angry songs that we'll never get that were more "in the moment stuck in my feelings" that are just too spiteful to ever be released. But they were never recorded.
@@theswiftologistI think that if Karma WAS the original name, maybe she wrote some of her more songs that resonated with that first (LWYMMD, IDSB, DBM) but then realized that most of the songs she was writing weren’t actually about karma, it was about Joe (CIWYW, KOMH, NYD) so she changed the name to something more fitting
I think that Karma as an Album didn't exist or it was just the name of the working album that was later released as Reputation. HOWEVER, as a brilliant mastermind of a business person she is, I bet that she can "release the Karma album" now that she knows that 90% of the fandom believes it does exists. She can go and write more songs now, in the present, about those topics and release to capitalize on something she knows the fandom wants.
I actually became a swiftie with reputation, and yes, I’m sure a ton of swifties from rep saw her as this clap back queen, but for me personally, I fell in love with the album and her music bc of how well she was able to portray a full blown character based on a type of alter ego in order to create reputation. When I heard her entire back catalogue it became very obvious that this is not at all who she is, which made me love her even more. Because it just made everything so much more fascinating.
these type of things are just coincidence but ppl have leaned so heavily on these things that they predict things from these kind of calculations ( aka swiftie math)
Honestly, I think the whole "Easter Eggs" thing is ruining being a Swiftie. It's so annoying that it's ALL swifties talk about now. And I can't imagine how Taylor feels when a bunch of "swifties" get mad at her when she doesn't announce an album cause they convinced themselves she would from of an "easter egg".
I’m glad that others see it as annoying and not just me, I honestly started to feel like a bad fan or something for finding it annoying. There’s some swifties who make it known that they are just playing around but at some point it annoys the hell out of me.
i feel like taylor probably somewhat regrets making the comment about putting easter eggs in songs and whatnot 3 years in advance. i'm sure she has put in some easter eggs starting that early, but truthfully, i think a good amount of that was a marketing tactic, as she's a smart woman and probably understood that this would create buzz for her new albums and her upcoming re-recordings (and this isn't a bad thing! taylor deserves to market her music lol).
okay here’s an easter egg from taylor 1. the lover themed nails in the vertical video for delicate 2. the building with the giant sign titled “lover” in the ME! music video 3. the bejeweled music video 4. the “1989 tv” sign in the i can see you music video 5. the clock in the cardigan music video turned to 1 and 3 for 13. those are easter eggs taylor swift planted. she might be cryptic and machiavellian but her easter eggs are not that deep
I really agree with your point about the 'lost album'. I also think that we are going to get some Vault tracks when she re-records Reputation that didn't make the album 1. Because they were too offensive or rude and clearly there were already a couple of songs about revenge in Rep and that was enough. Or 2. Because she didn't feel confindent about addressing her 2 latest relationships at that time.
The reading into non-existent easter eggs and conspiracy theories is ridiculous. I don't believe that Karma ever existed. Reputation is THAT bitch and we should all be grateful to have it 🐍❤
thank you omfg. i hate when ppl claim that karma is the “lost album” wtf? i think during that break period she wrote at least 3 songs. i think they will be used as vault tracks when she re records rep.
As an artist myself and somebody who goes to a music college for pop music, I know fully well from both myself and my peers that there are songs and projects that don’t make the cut and are considered “lost” albums. Whether or not she was writing something that didn’t come to fruition doesn’t really matter, even if “Karma” did exist, it couldn’t have been a full complete and cohesive project. My only reasoning for what I’ve said is I’ve had EP’s that I’ve fully written, produced, mixed and mastered and I’ve decided to get rid of them. Definitely completely agree with what you’re saying though.
I definitely think she wrote songs during the 1989 era but stand-alone songs. Songs she probably never envisioned being on full length projects, songs that for the most part weren't even completely finished.
Your take that I think I agree with the most is that All Too Well 10 minute version did not exist, which I believe. She didn't write that song, until she decided to release it. Maybe there were stray lyrics here and there, but the 10 minute version we got was cobbled together, newly written and finished. Definitely because of the "fuck the patriarchy" lyric which could have happened in.. 2012, was it, but I doubt it. And the "your lovers stay my age" because Jake has dated women both older and younger, and it just so happened that the current girlfriend is younger. So I'm looking forward to this one, too!
I think I agree! Or even if she did have a 10 minute version before, it certainly would've had different lyrics, because honestly I really can't imagine taylor writing "fuck the patriarchy" in red era, and yes the "your lovers stay my age" lyric too.
There's definitely a 10mins ver of it cause Taylor said it back in 2012 Soo but I feel like the original has different lyrics and she changed it somehow now maybe because some of lyrics in the og doesn't age well or she didn't like it and need to change it just my thoughts
She was literally just describing the keychain Jake had.... it doesn’t mean she was making a big statement or even knew what that meant at the time. So that’s always a weird argument for me
I also remember her saying multiple times towards the end of the 1989 era that she wanted to take a break and she wasn't planning on releasing a new album anytime soon and somehow it seems like everyone forgot about it. 😅 Aside from the Calvin Harris relationship, one other thing she never explicitly wrote about is the sexual assault trial. 💔Maybe in the vault?
I don't think she'd write a song about the assault honestly, it would be really hard to write lyrics about that sort of situation. Maybe if she used a metaphor like my tears ricochet or something. But like with The Man she said she'd been wanting to write a song about that for years but didn't know how to do it right, and assault is an even more delicate topic
@@edensylvester13 there's a good chance she did write about it. But she probably writes lots of songs or at least poems that are never intended to be released or never even make it to a recording session. I remember her saying once that she doesn't always know how she feels about a situation until she writes a song about it. I think it's just how she processes her emotions. She probably writes way more songs than we can even fathom. And I don't know if this part's true but I remember hearing that she didn't even want to put All Too Well on Red because she thought it was too personal and was afraid that nobody would be interested in it. And it ended up being a fan favorite. So I'm sure she writes lots of stuff that doesn't get released. That doesn't even make it to the level of being considered a vault song.
See from the get-go, I’ve always thought that there was a “hidden” album but NOT in the way these karma stans are going about it. My thoughts were that she recorded a few songs here and there about pre-cancellation things-Calvin, Karlie, Spotify stuff, squad etc-but there was no link between them and it wasn’t an body of work. If you think about it, there’s this huge gap in her life (from late 2014-early 2016) where there’s no material so I think there are probably songs out there about all this stuff. I think she probably thought that the events of 2016 were so big for her that she needed to do an about-face and completely change what TS6 would be. One thing is clear though: KARMA IS FAKE
From theories back when LWYMMD dropped, there were theories she was writing more tropical or vacation-themed songs from the agave-looking outfit she was wearing in the video to Bleachella being such an oasisy destination. Think Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville or Lorde's Solar Power. I don't think she would've had enough to create a full body of work though considering she did say she didn't know what she was going to release next.
Honestly that's my thinking too. I think she wrote a few songs here and there, but not enough to fill up an album. Maybe a few songs for the Reputation vault but not a whole ass album.
Karma was included in the music video The Man when she peed like a man on the wall and included all her album titles. That is when I noticed people saying karma is a hidden album.
So my version of the Karma Lost Album theory is that she wrote it before the whole Kanye drama. That it was going to be more of a reflective album about her rise to fame and the steps she had to take to get there. That things didn't always go her way. I think that once the Kanye situation happened in 2016, she decided to scrap the album for personal reasons. I realize that doesn't give a ton of time for her to write Reputation, but that album is more about her meeting Joe and the Kanye situation. It was definitely a very emotional and reflective time in her life, and i think she could've writen Reputation in the time in that head space. I think that she did create songs that would fit in between 1989 and Rep, but they aren't about Joe or the Kanye situation
I came here to say this too. I think she recorded an album that was more rock influenced, but as snakegate happened, & her image trashed… she could not afford to put out this edgy album. It would have been poorly received. Her career up until early 2016 was always 2 years preplanned… I think her being unsure what was next may have gone hand and hand with the chaos of jumping genres. But I think at this point Taylor knows that we will eat up anything… no matter the genre or message 😂 and she is still dropping new clues to sharing Karma with us!
@Sugarbellbean7 Exactly! I think that there's no way she didn't write anything in the 2 years between 1989's release and 2016. I really think that she had something else in mind, but dropped everything when she thought her career was ending. I mean (in my opinion), Reputation is a very reactionary album to the Kim/Kanye drama, and finding love in the chaos. Also I don't think we've seen a lot of what she went through between 1989 and the Kanye drama. Idk, I just think there's so much we don't know.
@dont.talk-2me why going to pop if she was doing great on Country? Why going out of pop when it was so comfortable and easy for her to do (Folkmore)? Because that's who she is. She doesn't really like to keep doing what's working, she likes to innovate and find ways to make new things work. The whole thing about it being rock (probably pop rock) is that she did versions of wanegbt and ikywt on the 1989 tour - and as some older swifties said (I haven't looked it up and checked, so might be incorrect) she would usually change up a few songs to a more similar sound that she would have on the next album. That's why. The edgy part is probably because of her bleachela phase that could indicate that. I'm not saying I believe Karma is true or anything like that, just that this specific theory (the original comment here) does make sense
I didn’t know this Karma thing had picked up steam again. Swifties are starving jesus… Yeah I agree about it being total bs. Although I wouldn’t put it past Taylor to eventually write and release a 13 track album and say that “this was the karma album you all have been salivating for, i definitely didn’t just recently write it”.
Constant easter egg theories take away Taylor's humanity. Let her live her life as the human she is instead of a popstar easter egging. Not everything is a fucking easter egg. Let the Easter eggs go. We get what we get when we get it. Just enjoy and stop nagging Taylor for new content.
@@shilohgoes5544 but it's gotten out of hand in a way she never intended. Taylor has a history of going into things with good intentions and it blowing up in ways she never intended (tumblr in general, singling fans out, The Swift Life, Secret Sessions, etc). I promise you Taylor has no idea about the lengths swifties go because contrary to what she says she doesn't lurk us anymore lol. In the Lover era she really believed the easter egg theories would stay within probable perimeters. Again, she's a naive goofball because easter egging has become dehumanizing where everything she does is some subliminal messaging to her fans. Taylor had and probably still has no clue swifties have taken easter egging too far because she is avoiding social media, especially swiftie social media, like the plague.
Its really fun to see all the little hints and Easter eggs Taylor DOES actually think about, but the fandom definitely takes their theororizing too far. While I firmly belive Taylor is a brilliant, strategic woman who knows her way around her business and loves taking the time to plan things out, some fans act like she's a God who has calculated the happenings of the entire universe just for the right stars to be able to align at the right time and her career to play out exactly how she wants it to. Like, she's just a person, she can't pump out something new every year that she's already had planned for the past 5 years as if she were a big corporation
So excited! I was thinking if your going to debunk Karma! 🧡 Glad to see the notification that your going to premier a video, it really made my day! Have a nice day Zach🥰🧡
thank you for addressing this - whenever i see someone on tiktok getting excited about it, it makes me want to jump off a cliff due to secondhand embarrassment that people actually believe “karma” exists
thank you!! the theory i’d always heard was that since she always starts writing her next album during the tour of the previous album, and rep wasn’t written until after the 1989 tour, that there must be a missing album that she’d started writing before all the drama happened. but it’s like… why would she have written an album called karma *before* all the stuff she would have referenced on a karma album had even happened?? it makes no sense
If anything she would've been writing some loose songs here and there about Calvin, her group of friends, you know, things that were *actually* going on in her life at the time. But I don't think she was being strict about it and because she did say she wanted to take a break after 1989, she felt at a safe place in her career where she could do that without affecting her stance in the industry. If she was writing about those topics I think it would've been too similar of a theme to 1989, and she probably wanted some time to keep living her life, find something new to write about, and come back reinvented like she always does. She definitely wanted to take a break after 1989 to avoid "tiring" the public (she'd never bore me but I'm saying that's how she probably felt, hence nothing new) and because she herself was tired. I think she didn't want to be repetitive and have her life become this unstoppable cycle of album release, tour, writing new album during tour, album release, tour, and over and over again. While all the drama that went down was definitely not planned, I don't think it's all that wild to think that she did have some sort of plan for a break in mind, and that she wasn't pursuing a new album at the moment.
Omg combing through folklore and evermore for Calvin deets would be an awesome video!!! I’m tempted to do it myself but tbh I am a Swiftie from afar. She’s my #1 and everyone in my life knows that but I could care less about keeping up with celebrity stuff. However I would listen to you talk about it with your background knowledge on her. She too is my favorite pop persona and that was her longest relationship… I wanna know more!!
I’m not a Swiftie so no expert. But the fact that in ‘The Man’ mv we see Karma among the names of the stolen albums is too much to ignore for me. Like why else would a huge Karma be written there…
@@buckdotjpeg Could be, but I do think that it looked like it belonged with the names of the other albums. Just looks weird to me that it would be randomly there.
there were so many great points made in this video! I’ve always thought that taylor will include plenty of vault tracks in reputation (Taylor’s version). I don’t see Taylor making a whole other album when she can just use those tracks for reputation (Taylor’s version).. but I guess people are hungry for another album lol
I completely agree that karma is not real. I did however fell for the initial theory simply because till 1989 Taylor had a consistent album release schedule of every two years. since 1989 came out in 2014, its not crazy to believe that she would release an album in 2016. her drastic style change also solidified my opinion. however there is no way she named an album karma. that is such a tacky name. my theory was that the album had songs about Calvin Harris and maybe about her parents divorce. she could also have had songs about tom Hiddleston and joe alwyn since she didn't really go into full detail of how she ended those relationships. getaway car is just a clean metaphor. while their is nothing more to say about kimye drama, there is definitely more to say about Calvin-tom-joe love square. whatever songs she wrote in 2016 definitely made it to rep album. and the topics she didn't touch, we will probably get ib rep vault songs. i am so excited for rep vault songs especially since she is totally ready to rehash old drama as seen in red vault tracks. (i bet you think about me) they will definitely have the missing songs on calvin and tom.
I honestly hope that in the future she does another badass album that’s like punk or and alternative rock with synth pop mixed in. like Taylor could do that OMG it would be amazinnngggg 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 not really related to video but just wanted to tell u guys. Maybe a bit of r&b tooo idkkkkkk I just would love ittttttttt. So much.
I feel like she definitely re-wrote some of the 10-minute version to polish it up to make it feel more like a distant memory, but the essence of what she wrote when she was 21 is still there. There was no way Scott Borchetta would've approved "f*ck the patriarchy" during 2012 and would have talked her out of it to maintain the country audience.
***Seeing that Taylor is very intelligent and aware of swiftie's reading into easter eggs, do you think that Taylor intentionally includes 'fake' easter eggs in her videos just to keep the momentum of this rumor alive (like karma in the man, etc.)? If not, why not just address the rumor and state that karma is not real? OR, do you think that there is a possibiltity that Tayor would make an entire album and call it Karma just to capitalize on this rumor? Cuz tbh I feel that at this point, with the rerecords and vault songs and whatnot, it would definitely work. BTW you are a literal genius and 100% spot on
NME interview from Oct 2015 & Vogue AU from Nov 2015; "Back in the dressing room, Swift speaks about the challenge of following the stellar '1989'. Does the thought scare her? "Nooooooo. How could the next one be as big? Maybe the next album will be a bridge to somewhere else. Or maybe l'll just go ahead and change everything." I ask for a hint from the handful of songs she's written so far, and she replies with a scoff. "No! Why would I do that?! God!" The 1989 Tour wraps up in December. After that, Swift says, "I think I should take some time off. I think people might need a break from me. I'm going to..I don't know. Hang out with my friends. Write new music. Maybe not write new music. I don't know." She genuinely looks like she hasn't really thought about it yet." "Every two years since 2006, she has released an album, followed by a tour, then moved onto the next one. But her latest album, 1989, might change plans a bit. "This album has produced more number ones than any album in the past, so we're just going to go with it," she says, going on to explain how the usual album cycle could be extended. "Then I'Il feel like I'Il need to give people a breather from me because at a certain point they'regoing to get a little sick of hearing about me, so I'll need to go away for a while then depending on my gauge on how sick of me they are, I'll decide when to put out the next album."
I don't believe there is an album but I do think that she had to have written some songs from 2014-2016. We all know that she is constantly waking up in the middle of the night and writing some stuff. I don't think there was a whole concept made up, just a couple songs here and there and I hope she puts the early 2014-2015 songs on 1989 vault and the 2016 on reputation.
Why would she release an album called karma when she has a song called karma ??? Like..? Also I’m 99% sure it‘s reputation and she just changed the name, she also mentioned karma in lwymmd. Also for the wall in the man, it could’ve just been that her albums are coming back like karma or that the people that stole it will get karma
Lowkey I could listen to your voice forever it sounds so therapeutic lol. And yeah I do not believe this theory of a karma album I feel like she had one or two songs during that time but not a whole album.
I agree with a lot of what you say here. And I am not a Karma Stan. However…. None of the theories that I’ve seen are arguing for the idea is that ‘Karma’ was going to be a clapback album. In fact, I’ve heard many people say that Reputation was a very different tone to whatever may have been on Karma. And it doesn’t seem ridiculous to suggest she had some songs in the works (not fully mastered etc, but maybe demos) before she decided on the tone of reputation and then had to shelve this work…. Like I said, I agree with a lot of this. But from what I’ve seen I think the theory is less ridiculous than how you’re presenting it.
100% agree. IF and I mean IF karma exists it will be dropped with rep TV. I have to stay open, because blondie loves to prove me wrong…BUT why would she make two albums about the same thing?…do you think she would ever retrospectively write the album like ATW10? I’m also curious about the orange use on the tour, but yet again i bet that’s a bate and switch.
She’s been wearing a lot of orange lately 👀 Also, she held up another ✌️ at a show even after the TTPD double album…so that has to mean something, right?
IF karma did exist i feel like the release of it wouldnt be as strong as rep , since the kim drama was like that last straw that she could use gave more fire to her comeback
Thank you for this video. I am glad that as a new swiftie I found you before I loose my mind over being one. I had been a Taylor fan since when Lovestory first came out but nothing so frantic to follow her all the time and keep tabs on her whereabouts as an artist. Folklore and Evermore drew me all the way into the fandom and I started reading about these theories and easter eggs, and I was like "Damn! You need to know her entire life, moves, patterns, psychology, timeline and much more like a freaking shadow." As a 22 year old then, many of the things fan account and entertainment channels did felt unnecessarily obsessive and outright disrespectful. I mean guys, isn't this the reason she's always frustrated with media? Over analyzing and judging her? Literally feeding her devil by consuming and promoting those stuff. As I had little experience in decoding the easter eggs, I was staring to believe anything that made the most noise. I am grateful to have found you and save some of my sanity. This fandom really needs to step away a little and let her be human instead of and object of speculation and decoding.
Karma is a Delulu hill I’m willing to die on! My version of theory goes that in the moment she might have written some more songs that like her other older releases stayed in the vault. because it wasn’t strategic to put such songs out at the time
My two cents on your last point: Reputation was released on orange vinyl for the limited edition. And I agree that “Karma” on the wall in the Man video signifies that she will get all her albums back. If “Karma” the album was really a thing, I would have expected more easter eggs in the music video for the song Karma. Her not confirming or denying is just smart marketing to keep people talking about you.
So I came here today because the annoucement of karma song. I dont know if anyone ever tell you this but I just loved your voice and pronunciation haha. I am not native English speaker
Totally agree with all this, karma doesn’t exist etc. BUT. Given all the hype around the karma myth (which is very slightly reminiscent of the ATW10 legend), do you think Taylor will do some sort of a nod to the Karma theory on Rep TV?
Soooo true, all of it, 100%. But consider this: Taylor likes to re-write history bc of the fans, soooo I would not be surprised with her saying Karma’s a thing and shoe-horning Rep vault tracks and 1989 vault tracks as that in between vibe the fans think she was heading towards.
OMG, yes! Thank you! This is what I've been saying to myself seeing all this Karma stuff going around. If the description of Karma is literally the same as Reputation then why would Taylor scrap it? If ANYTHING I think she MAY have one or two more vindictive Kimye diss songs that she put in the vault to make the Rep album more about Joe, but a whole album full of Kanye disses??? I think not. Taylor is a pop star not a rapper, she's not gonna make an album full of clap backs.
Can you do a video untangling her personality? I can’t wrap my head around her being a fame hungry superstar but also normal and relatable. Usually Superstars are larger than life divas. And I think she’s pretty ballsy calling people out in songs to their faces yet she’s sensitive? So many dichotomies.
FINALLY!!! some one said something that makes sense about all this ‘Karma’ nonsense, I’ve never believed it and you perfectly articulated what I’ve been thinking for YEARS now!! Thank you! This needs to been shown to everyone who even slightly believes it.
Well I still believe in Karma, although you might be right. But I think Taylor never stops writing and I think she has a lot of material from 2014 until 2016. I don't think after releasing 1989 she just stoped writing until sep 2016, cmon. This is exactly how I imagine an album process start, right after the realease of the previous one. Writing while on tour, while on vacation, etc. I guess we will see or never see. I never thought Karma would be about Kimiye, I thought It will be a rockish album and thats all
Overall, I think Karma is a fever dream of what people thought of what could have been. I think people's roots are only lie in the fact that it was not the normal album cycle time.
I think that Taylor maybe the idea for karma and wrote one or two songs then scrapped it. These could be vault songs to another album but I don’t think she wrote the whole thing.
Karma album is real and here’s my reasoning for this opinion. 2012-2016 Taylor and Karlie had a very intense friendship. 2016 Kimye drama; Karlie K was asked if she thought Kim was a nice person… then defended her comment in a Tweet. By 2017 Karlie and Taylor were not seen hanging out. We don’t know what happened with their friendship and what Karlie did to betray Taylor (it’s time to go). 2019 - masters were sold. Taylor said “For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. Instead I was given an opportunity to sign back up to Big Machine Records and ‘earn’ one album back at a time, one for every new one I turned in.” Discussions may have started around 1989 era regarding contract and buying the masters. Another premise for Karma album; years of writing songs about the frustrating masters / contract renewal discussions, which would have been happening well before the issue was made public after the sale of BMR in 2019. And Karma album is about Scott B, Scooter etc. She’s not going to let them own the masters for Karma when the majority of the album was written about them. They would profit from the stream and sales of Karma. Lack of pics of her coming out of recording studios doesn’t prove she didn’t record Karma. She chooses when she’s seen in public. Secret session for Rep - Why would Taylor tell a bunch of strangers the full story of her life from 1989 era what lead up to Reputation being released. She’s going to tell strangers what they need to hear regarding the Rep album release. Example, for Midnight’s album, she said it was a concept album, which you said yourself in one of your videos could be to avoid speculation by the public that her a Joe were having major relationship issues.
Do tou think the song Karma may have been in the vault or incomplete from the Reputation era? Thats one of my theories for that word appearing in Lover (The Man), maybe it came from reputation-lover transition but didnt fit the lover concept... then it just would fit in the midnights concept because of the quarantine, she may be holding her dancing songs so it would happen what happened to cruel summer
I think there are some songs that didn't make reputation but there is nothing close to a complete body of work. Of course Taylor had other ideas for ts6 during 2015- early 2016 but rep was made in 2016 there is no way she completed an album and said sike then threw it away. Also, im a firm believer ts6 was always meant for 2017, 1989 was huge and she couldn't have possibly done something for 2016 when she was already overexposing herself Ps i wrote this before watching the full video so if im being redundant sorry.
Unrelated note: I kinda think “The 1” is a little bit of a reference to Calvin Harris and her. There’s nothing definite, but she says that it’s like someone talking to an ex. I know during quarantine there was a bit of a trend of old exes reaching out, so it could be in reference to that. However the “roaring 20’s tossing pennies in the pool” makes me think of the picture of her and Clavin on a floaty. On Reputation she makes references to this era of her like to being similar to The Great Gatsby, so that’s why I made that connection. There’s also “Dig up the grave another time” which could reference her digging up her grave in LWYMMD
To me, if karma is real it would just be a reputation vault album which would be useless considering that there will be a reputation TV and honestly I never believe that karma the album is real because to me 2016 was a break year for her plus it was a really chaotic year for her also the concept of karma is basically reputation
Okay, so as I've mentioned before, I'm not exactly a huge Taylor Swift fan (and yet I keep coming back to this channel, as I love our host! 😊) but I remember watching people's reaction videos to Folklore and Evermore. And when that song "Cowboy Like Me" came on, I thought, "Hmm. I think this one might be about Hiddleston." At least, part of it. Who knows? I certainly am not informed enough to make a judgement call, but maybe that was her way of addressing it at a later time! 🤷
I think there could be angry, revenge or love and sexy songs about Tom and Joe that are personal to her (i.e. not to be shared), but I don’t think there is a full concept “karma” album. However, what I am curious about are the songs that she wrote during the 1989 era. Even if there wasn’t an album or concept idea during that time, she has to always be writing. Maybe something about her friends or Calvin? Now those would be interesting songs! The arc of falling in and then out of love with him. But maybe he was too boring and there’s nothing there.
Okay this tangent might be slightly off topic to the video, but this is going off the brief explanation about the meaning of Karma. I just thought I'll add a little bit more since it's used to frequently in western media Karma is a concept derived from Hinduism/ India. Karma basically means an action and over the course of your life you accumlate Karma which will change dictate the course of your life and at times even your rebirth if you don't reap of the fruits of Karma completely in one life time. That's why earth or where we live is called Karmabhumi - Bhumi can mean earth, land, soil etc depending on the context. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk
No way this is real, it makes no sense. Britney fans have done this for over a decade with "the original doll" but im 95% sure that just became Blackout.
6 minutes in and I now think Karma was an early version of reputation that started being written & recorded in 2015/2016 (I'm pretty sure I heard somewhere that So It Goes was recorded/written in 2015). Karma did seem a bit like reputation judging by the bleachella outfits but possibly not fully like it if you get what I'm saying. Then the kimye situation happened and she scrapped a few songs, wrote a few new ones and made it more reputation-like, idk the correct genre to describe it but like a mix of edm, grunge and less pop than karma which might have been a bit more pop judging by this is what you came for & midnights' karma which could have been from early reputation as the title track.
When she says; “It’s a CLOCK” she is talking about the word Karma painted on the wall with the names of all her albums around it! She is saying KARMA is her re-claiming her albums!!!!
True I was gonna say the only thing I could agree w is there being content in the whole calvin era like anything between mid 2014 and early 2016 but I guess evidence shows otherwise for that content
my theory is that maybe Karma was a working title for reputation just as how "woodvale" was the working name for folklore.
stop i thought woodvale was real
i would believe this
I'm pretty sure Taylor once said that reputation was her only album to get named before she made songs for it

i'm actually a new swiftie but people acting like "ohhh where is sheeee, why isn't she releasing anything 😩" thing to me is very ridiculous, and i joined last year which was FULL of content, give her a break!!
@@Fucorii yesss my exact thoughts!
Yeah but Reputation is before Lover!
I dont think 90% percent believes it exists but i do think that she could 100% make and release it now to make money
I agree but when you add up Taylor’s birthdate, (12+13+1989) you get 2014, which is the year she released the album 1989.
How come I never noticed that ❤
these type of things are just coincidence but ppl have leaned so heavily on these things that they predict things from these kind of calculations ( aka swiftie math)
The only way to do easter egging right is understanding that you are clowning and making fun of yourself for it.
i hate the “easter eggs.” i especially hated it during the lover rollout, it was so annoying.
okay here’s an easter egg from taylor
1. the lover themed nails in the vertical video for delicate
2. the building with the giant sign titled “lover” in the ME! music video
3. the bejeweled music video
4. the “1989 tv” sign in the i can see you music video
5. the clock in the cardigan music video turned to 1 and 3 for 13.
those are easter eggs taylor swift planted. she might be cryptic and machiavellian but her easter eggs are not that deep
Reputation is THAT bitch and we should all be grateful to have it 🐍❤
yess ❤
thank you omfg. i hate when ppl claim that karma is the “lost album” wtf? i think during that break period she wrote at least 3 songs. i think they will be used as vault tracks when she re records rep.
Songs she probably never envisioned being on full length projects, songs that for the most part weren't even completely finished.
no bc you brought me to my senses. i thank u for ur service on bringing me down to earth on my theories
I just love how for anything Taylor related we literally write essays. like that's the mark of a swiftie.
I think Karma may be a song, not an album. A vault song we'll get.
HELLO MISS YOU WERE RIGHT!!!! 🏆🏆
YOU SPILLED OMG
You’re right
For a minute I didn't believe this comment was 10 months old but d@mñ you really called it 🤯
Smart lmao
So that’s always a weird argument for me
@@shilohgoes5544 yeah we know. it just doesnt seem like a lyric she would have actually included into a song back then

ZACH WOKE UP AND CHOSE VIOLENCE 🌼🔪🍵 WERE HERE FOR THE TEA 🍵
I also remember her saying multiple times towards the end of the 1989 era that she wanted to take a break and she wasn't planning on releasing a new album anytime soon and somehow it seems like everyone forgot about it. 😅
Aside from the Calvin Harris relationship, one other thing she never explicitly wrote about is the sexual assault trial.
Clean is about winning the trial
Karma is just a good topic for twitter to spend time on until Taylor announces the new re-recording. Nothing more💅
I think the whole point of the Karma theory is that we got really excited about the bleached hair haha. I wish she had kept it for Reputation
This is what I thought as well
@dont.talk-2me why going to pop if she was doing great on Country?
Swifties are starving jesus…
Yeah I agree about it being total bs. Although I wouldn’t put it past Taylor to eventually write and release a 13 track album and say that “this was the karma album you all have been salivating for, i definitely didn’t just recently write it”.
not you being psychic omg
@@emmatm5136 HOLY FUCK. My impact 😣
Unfortunately I could 100% see that happening (don’t get me wrong I love more of her music but this would just feel very calculated)
I believe she might have made some songs pre-cancellation that got scrapped for the rep album, but that’s it
People who believe in Karma dont even have that good enough of a theory to justify its “existence”
I legit just laughed out loud "No I fuckin dont" I love how you just put it out there 😅
Constant easter egg theories take away Taylor's humanity. Let her live her life as the human she is instead of a popstar easter egging. Not everything is a fucking easter egg. Let the Easter eggs go. We get what we get when we get it. Just enjoy and stop nagging Taylor for new content.
She actively does them and claims to love them sooooo
Like, she's just a person, she can't pump out something new every year that she's already had planned for the past 5 years as if she were a big corporation

thank you for addressing this - whenever i see someone on tiktok getting excited about it, it makes me want to jump off a cliff due to secondhand embarrassment that people actually believe “karma” exists
so true queen
thank you!! the theory i’d always heard was that since she always starts writing her next album during the tour of the previous album, and rep wasn’t written until after the 1989 tour, that there must be a missing album that she’d started writing before all the drama happened. but it’s like… why would she have written an album called karma *before* all the stuff she would have referenced on a karma album had even happened?? it makes no sense
While all the drama that went down was definitely not planned, I don't think it's all that wild to think that she did have some sort of plan for a break in mind, and that she wasn't pursuing a new album at the moment.

there were so many great points made in this video!
So much.
lol watch taylor now just drop a lost album named karma because marketing. This is how I feel about the 10 minute version of All Too Well.
I feel like she definitely re-wrote some of the 10-minute version to polish it up to make it feel more like a distant memory, but the essence of what she wrote when she was 21 is still there. There was no way Scott Borchetta would've approved "f*ck the patriarchy" during 2012 and would have talked her out of it to maintain the country audience.
the depth of the research... wow we should respect. powerful stuff
i love when you drag it's so entertaining. speak on it!
BTW you are a literal genius and 100% spot on
NME interview from Oct 2015 & Vogue AU from Nov 2015;
"Back in the dressing room, Swift speaks about the challenge of following the stellar '1989'. I don't know." She genuinely looks like she hasn't really thought about it yet."
"Every two years since 2006, she has released an album, followed by a tour, then moved onto the next one.

This fandom really needs to step away a little and let her be human instead of and object of speculation and decoding.
turning everything into an easter egg is so tiring now 😭
Karma is a Delulu hill I’m willing to die on!
I can't believe people really think that Karma is real
So I came here today because the annoucement of karma song. I dont know if anyone ever tell you this but I just loved your voice and pronunciation haha. I am not native English speaker
Totally agree with all this, karma doesn’t exist etc. BUT. Given all the hype around the karma myth (which is very slightly reminiscent of the ATW10 legend), do you think Taylor will do some sort of a nod to the Karma theory on Rep TV?
honestly yes. seems like she is inclined to revise the canon which is….thrilling but also triggering !
Oh yes. She would definitely do that
And now we are getting a song called Karma, I cannot!!! 😭♥️
OMG, yes! Taylor is a pop star not a rapper, she's not gonna make an album full of clap backs.
so true queen
Why not? She's allowed write an album full of Kimye disses.
I never thought Karma would be about Kimiye, I thought It will be a rockish album and thats all
Also this feels like a sneak peek of the 2016 episode and I almost feel like I’m cheating
Overall, I think Karma is a fever dream of what people thought of what could have been. I think people's roots are only lie in the fact that it was not the normal album cycle time.
Tea! And that’s since been disproven basically, so like … open your eyes people
I think that Taylor maybe the idea for karma and wrote one or two songs then scrapped it.
CRAZY EVIDENCE: Karma was one of the nicknames Rebekah Harkness had (given by her 3rd husband Ben Kean)
TIME TO RILE UP THE SWIFTIES LOVE IT
I think there are some songs that didn't make reputation but there is nothing close to a complete body of work. Of course Taylor had other ideas for ts6 during 2015- early 2016 but rep was made in 2016 there is no way she completed an album and said sike then threw it away.
Also, im a firm believer ts6 was always meant for 2017, 1989 was huge and she couldn't have possibly done something for 2016 when she was already overexposing herself
Ps i wrote this before watching the full video so if im being redundant sorry.
I think that a whole, complete album (Karma) doesn't exist but Taylor definitely wrote multiple songs during the 1989 era that wasn't released.
To me, if karma is real it would just be a reputation vault album which would be useless considering that there will be a reputation TV and honestly I never believe that karma the album is real because to me 2016 was a break year for her plus it was a really chaotic year for her also the concept of karma is basically reputation
Im a Scorpio too.. I love Taylor Tomlinson’s points on Scorpios in her latest Netflix special
Karma DOES NOT exist. She said she hadn't been in the studio for months when she was with Max Martin making Rep. I hate this theory so much
Okay, so as I've mentioned before, I'm not exactly a huge Taylor Swift fan (and yet I keep coming back to this channel, as I love our host!
I really don’t think she was writing during the 1989 era…that’s just my onion, but she was too busy/also reveling in her pinnacle moment
Buddhism, not Hinduism...right? 🤔
Thank you for making this!!!!!
No way this is real, it makes no sense. Britney fans have done this for over a decade with "the original doll" but im 95% sure that just became Blackout.
Twitter theory swifties will be personally offended
The true scholar is here to save us from brain rot. LOVE THAT for swifties.
7:49 and I think so it goes at the very least if what I heard is true and/or if i'm remembering right slightly written during 2015
Which lost album theory is crazier Karma or Woodvale
Currently binging your videos , can I just say - you’re incredible
who’s here after finding out karma is real
GREAT VIDEO
YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT
nothing annoys me more than swifties that do nothing else but make up theories
can you please do a video DEBUNKING Kaylor because I am TIRED of it!!!!
Ok as I have completed my Swiftologist binge, i would like to suggest a video about her relationship with Selena 😻
You are my favorite swiftie historian ever 🧡
these tik tok and stan twt swifties have actually gone insane with the theories they are convincing themselves are true like….
thank! you! for! this! video!
23:31 I wonder what else she said during the secret sessions, I'd love to know more tea
He's done a video on it
not related to the video but You should make a setlist for Taylor performing the half time show
Plus "Karma" would be such an obvious, easy, cliche album title. Taylor is better than that
