And from my experience, the trans community is fine with the drag community, as long as they're not claiming that cross dressing is the same as being transgender.
You know what, the cut between AB blowing up and then saying “You know I’m not mad” makes sense to me, as a older brother with one of my younger having a... personality, which sometimes blows up, but I know him to not mean it in the long run, it could make allot of sense if we think of it as AB blowing up in the moment, realizing her words afterwards, and going to make sure Big Mac didn’t take it to harsh when hearing he is sitting alone under a tree at sunset
What if AJ is actually the oldest, then Mac is suffering from 'Middle Child' sydrome, a sydrome where your are pretty much invisible and the most distant with both siblings. I know, I suffer through.

Of all of the things I was NOT expecting to see in my sub box today, THIS is up there. Hopefully it won't take forever for the next one to come out, since CotLM is EASILY the best episode of the series.
The only issue I have with CotLM is the way the fans reacted to Spoiled Rich yelling at her daughter. They automatically slapped a bullying label on that, but that's not what was really happening. It's an example of poor parenting as a result of the parents own inflated ego. Spoiled Rich is what I like to call a "Toxic Socialite". She's a woman who has married into wealth (or was raised in it) and it's gone to her head to the point that she looks down on anyone she views as "lesser" in any way, shape, or form. Unfortunately, Toxic Socialites tend to be poor parents as they either are super critical of everything their children say and do, as seen in Spoiled Rich, or they put their child on a pedestal and genuinely believe that their child is the most special perfect snowflake ever and can do no wrong (see Petunia Dursley). Both scenarios result in screwed up children who lash out at others and become bullies in some way, because they are modeling their parents poor behavior. This sort of thing can only be fixed by reality giving both parent and child a hard slap to the face, which is exactly what happened in CotLM! Diamond Tiara hit her lowest point after her worst loss ever, was shown genuine compassion from people she had been horrible to in her time of need, and when the chips were down she decided to turn her life around. She stood up for the Crusaders and told her Mom off in the same breath, and used her talent of leadership to help others rather than hurt them. It was awesome, and I hate seeing people cheapen it by not understanding the context.
Dreamer Rose problem with that is she was shown as being a horrible person when she was just Filthy's FIANCÉE and should have been proof that she was the wrong person for Filthy since he goes completely against the stereotypical evil businessman trope
Ar Lew, Unless the marriage was an arranged one that neither of them could get out of. Or she or one of her relatives found a way to blackmail him into it. We don't know why he married her. Plus, from what few clues we have, he's a pretty negligent father to Diamond Tiara unless she does something blatantly wrong.
I find it interesting that Tricky Fox identifies with Big Mac as the isolated sibling and Josh identifies with Applejack as the hero sibling. Meanwhile I'm more on Apple Bloom's level (oh my, it's almost as if I chose my name for a reason). I'm closer to my eldest sister than I am the middle sister. Sometimes the middle sister would get jealous of our relationship. I still love both of them (some days more than others) and even I get jealous of their relationship too since they're much closer in age to each other. It's pretty common in sibling relationships and the episode addressed it well. As mentioned in the video, the show usually aces sibling relationship episodes. Hence why I chose my OC name as the names of the younger sisters. Great review you guys! Also NOTICE ME, SENPAI!!
At the moment, out of every released episode of this show, Brotherhooves Social is my favorite episode from the entire series. Maybe a bit strange because I don't consider myself to have any shaky relationships with my siblings. But I still felt for Big Mac and understood his motivation. Sure, seeing him in the dress for the first time was shocking, but it's not hard for me to believe he'd want to do something like that for his little sister that he feels is starting to lose touch with. There's not a single thing in this episode I can find that I can complain or nit-pick on (even with the one thing you guys mentioned about Big Mac not being able to jump. Remember, Big Mac is a rather large pony, and he was wearing "high heels". I can't imagine jumping in place being easy for him to do in that moment). It was touching to see Big Mac feel the way he does at the beginning of the episode, adorable to see Apple Bloom bonding with Applejack, they connected the parallel plot between Made in Manehattan and this episode really well. And the meat of the episode where Big Mac is at the social itself was just hilarious and sweet at the same time throughout it all (obviously bonus points goes towards the disguise not fooling anypony). And the ending of this episode is hands down my favorite moment in the entire series. Or favorite moment in any cartoon, show, or movie... really. For one, William Anderson nailed the score that plays in the background in that ending scene. In my opinion, its one of his best works. The imagery with the sun setting down is absolutely gorgeous to look at. And the conversation and bonding moment between Big Mac and Apple Bloom has me losing it every fucking time I watch this part. The only thing that comes to mind that doesn't make sense is that at the end of Made in Manehattan, the sun was set by the end of that episode, but in this episode, Applejack apparently made it back to the Apple Orchard before the sun has set. That's literally the only thing I can think of that kind of bothers me, but even then Manehatten is supposedly an eastern town, so maybe the train back somehow outran the sunset when it was on the way back to Ponyville? Idk. Still love this episode. I don't know what the writers of this show can do to top this episode for me. Glad to see you're back at it Josh. You were on of the first content creators for MLP I started to watch when I entered this fandom a little over a half a year ago. Keep it up!

I know one person Josh has not done one with. That being GoldenFox and GoldenFox has said he is not comfortable doing it since something about that he feels unworthy to work with Josh or around on the lines of that even though it seems Josh was open to the idea. the problem is GoldenFox doesn't feel comfortable with it and until he feels good to do so, he won't. And its funny since Fox had done some with DRWolf and with Silver Quill who along with Josh are the big boys in the community while GoldenFox was one of the first Brony reviewers.

It makes me see them in a new way and understand how complex they are. You really are able to bring to light a lot of what makes this show good. I also love how you dont just dismis the morals as being for kids. You apply them to your own life and find hidden complexities to them that everyone can relate to. I would have loved the concept of that “weird judge” actually knowing that Orchard Blossom was Big Mac, and just kinda crushing on him anyway. Either way, even though it wasn’t really needed, it gave me a little giggle at the end. The only thing really weird (or creepy) is just the age difference, and the fact that from a face-to-face perspective the character looks like Beast Boy in the weird Teen Titans reboot.
This episode always hits me in the feels every time. My brother was in the Air Force. He got chaptered out after an issue with alcohol. I haven't gotten to see him in forever. I really miss him. This episode makes me miss him.

During the last season of MLP, for a while we weren't able to watch the latest episodes, so coming to UA-cam, particularly being suggested any MLP content ran the constant risk of spoilers, which I personally HATE. This is one of my favorite episode. As a big brother I have always believed that my roll as the oldest it was to protect, help, cheer and inspire my youngest siblings. Ever since my little brother was born I made a promise to become the roll model of my brother, sister and cusins; but they had others to look up to. It didn't matter what I do they have been showing little interest in sharing time with me. I hided does emotions for long periods of time but I reach a point where I can help it anymore and collapse in sadness and depression just because I felt like a failure of a big brother; and I really hate to fail to my family, so I just give up. Now in the last two years that I was going to leave my parents house I decided to give it another try. It turned out better than I expected.
I was kind of miffed that the judges saw through the disguise the whole time, but let Mac keep stringing himself along, since the disguise was clearly hampering him during the contest.
This ep personally hit me hard. I'm the oldest of 5 brothers, but number 2 was always the one who got all the attention and respect from the rest of my little brothers. And was more successful then me.

Hey, just wondering: I noticed Closed Captions during the beginning, but none for the rest of the collab. If someone wanted to contribute Closed Captions, how would one go about it?
On the number of festivals they hold: That list isn't so unusual. We (in the US, at least) have at least 10 holidays per year, and that's just the big ones. For a farming community like Ponyville, these would be major social events, and I note that they way they're depicted, most of them cost more effort than money. And it kinda seems like most ponies don't work more than 4-6 hours a day. I chalk that up largely to magical climate control and the like, as it seems like AJ takes in four or five harvests per year.

Not gonna lie, I can really relate to this episode as well. I have a little sister and even though we never used to get along, we do now. However, we do have our hiccups, as I feel jealous of my sister's ability to be more social, having a wonderful singing voice and make friends easily along with getting more attention in my eyes, whilst she says she's jealous of me because I have planned out things, constantly improve on my art skills and work so hard, along with supposedly me having more of the attention. Not only that, but my sister has actually said that I have inspired her, saying that I really inspired her to go back to college and not only that, the same college as me and almost all of the same courses I'm taking. It really makes me feel appreciated, not to mention I make sure to tell her that she inspires me with how many amazing ideas she tells me about, knowing that I love to write. So yeah, I can really relate to these feelings. Well, I got a bit sappy there ^^" Oh well, needed to express this. Here's something to lighten the mood though - *FLUTTERBOMB!*

This was indeed a fun and heartwarming episode and I too really liked the way they handled a guy in a dress. Nobody's fooled. Nobody's raising a fuss.

I would have loved the concept of that “weird judge” actually knowing that Orchard Blossom was Big Mac, and just kinda crushing on him anyway. Either way, even though it wasn’t really needed, it gave me a little giggle at the end. The only thing really weird (or creepy) is just the age difference, and the fact that from a face-to-face perspective the character looks like Beast Boy in the weird Teen Titans reboot.

This episode always hits me in the feels every time. My brother was in the Air Force. He got chaptered out after an issue with alcohol. I haven't gotten to see him in forever. I really miss him. This episode makes me miss him.

This is one of my favorite episode. As a big brother I have always believed that my roll as the oldest it was to protect, help, cheer and inspire my youngest siblings. Ever since my little brother was born I made a promise to become the roll model of my brother, sister and cusins; but they had others to look up to. It didn't matter what I do they have been showing little interest in sharing time with me. I hided does emotions for long periods of time but I reach a point where I can help it anymore and collapse in sadness and depression just because I felt like a failure of a big brother; and I really hate to fail to my family, so I just give up.
Now in the last two years that I was going to leave my parents house I decided to give it another try. It turned out better than I expected.

This ep personally hit me hard. I'm the oldest of 5 brothers, but number 2 was always the one who got all the attention and respect from the rest of my little brothers. And was more successful then me.

On the number of festivals they hold: That list isn't so unusual. We (in the US, at least) have at least 10 holidays per year, and that's just the big ones. For a farming community like Ponyville, these would be major social events, and I note that they way they're depicted, most of them cost more effort than money. And it kinda seems like most ponies don't work more than 4-6 hours a day. I chalk that up largely to magical climate control and the like, as it seems like AJ takes in four or five harvests per year.
And there has not been a new one in forever.

Not gonna lie, I can really relate to this episode as well. I have a little sister and even though we never used to get along, we do now. However, we do have our hiccups, as I feel jealous of my sister's ability to be more social, having a wonderful singing voice and make friends easily along with getting more attention in my eyes, whilst she says she's jealous of me because I have planned out things, constantly improve on my art skills and work so hard, along with supposedly me having more of the attention. Not only that, but my sister has actually said that I have inspired her, saying that I really inspired her to go back to college and not only that, the same college as me and almost all of the same courses I'm taking. It really makes me feel appreciated, not to mention I make sure to tell her that she inspires me with how many amazing ideas she tells me about, knowing that I love to write. So yeah, I can really relate to these feelings.
