The only one I would disagree on the rankings of would be “I have to find a way” I actually think it’s very important to the episode. Because until then you just feel this is something funny and crazy that’s happening through the song “what my cutie mark is telling me” But then you get the somber song that really shows, this is really bad and people are suffering because of it. Rainbow isn’t good with animals~ The animals are running amok and rainbows depressed about why can’t she do this. One song quickly shows you what’s going on with the others in a funny and quick way and the other song establishes how this needs to be fixed right away.
Absolutely, it sets the tone so we "feel" that this is not the normal Twilighting, this is genuine despair and it literally brought tears to my eyes for the longest time when I reached that part. The episode just wouldn't have any impact without it IMO. What I didn't like about Magical Mystery Cure personally was the Coronation song, as it pushed the sugar coating to diabetes levels. So much so I often turn the episode off at that point, and I'm someone who NEVER skips the intro song as I think its fine (the full length version is a big nope though). I also think he is a little unfair on "generic pop songs", but I can understand how they will rate worse compared to the best MLP songs. But personally, I listen to the Equestria Girls soundtrack probably more or at least as much as the good episode songs. Really it just highlights how having a single rating combining enjoyability and quality of composition, writing, etc, is deeply flawed. A relatively generic song can still be fun to listen to, but fails on the rating system.
eh, I guess that's true, but the problem is that immediately after the song Twilight is like "I can fix this" and fixes it immediately and everything is all happy go lucky. Just makes the song feel pointless in the grand scheme of things.
David Pescitelli But that in itself is another turn shift. The three songs kind of work together to essentially give you mood whiplash. Wow this is funny! man this is depressing! this is so hopeful! It’s an unfortunate thing that probably needs to be done considering they only had one episode to do it
I would have agreed with that assessment if Twilight had actually tried fixing this mess (and ending up making it worse) before going into despair. But no, she just immediately went into a depressive state and rejected every possibility of a solution WITHOUT EVEN TRYING THEM!
Ah, someone else who thinks Under Our Spell is the best song in the movie lol 7:57 also that's my favorite song from the MLP movie 20:05 yeah, what an earworm 20:47 I also think the Laughter song is pretty cringe and not a good display of her character. Like, wow, don't be scared and just laugh at some monsters. What an interesting and important element. This song though...completely shows her element perfectly while being very catchy. Her element isn't really laughter...it's joy.
I have This Day Aria on my Spotify playlist, and I get chills every time I listen to it. Switching back and forth between the voices is also a lot of fun
I wholeheartedly agree with the No. 1. Perfect Pear is such a fantastic song, and with the context of the episode, it always makes me tear up. Without fail.
I APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL!! mostly for the well deserved recognition of autumn blaze and the magnificence of rainbows won’t light up the sky unless you let it rain. A true masterpiece.
I play "Your in my head like a catchy song" on my uke all the time and none of my friends know it's from this show mwhahahah They know I like my little pony, they just think it's dumb. Little do they know they now have a song from the show stuck in their heads 😆
I’ll fight you on Let it Rain, it’s the closest thing to an 90’s alt rock track we ever got in MLP and Rebecca Soichet destroyed the delivery, my only downside is that I wish it had another verse and a proper bridge. Someone made a mashup of it, Get to the Other Side and Run to Break Free and it is absolutely phenomenal it gave me chills
I don't think Josh is old enough to have grown up with 'Fresh Prince' and a lot of those shows arou.d that time. For me Pinkie's Rap is just a little skip to memory lane.
My Favorite mlp song from each season: (not counting shorts, specials, equestria girls, and movies) S1: art of the dress S2: smile song & this day aria S3: what my cutie mark is telling me… S4: glass of water and the goof off S5: the magic inside S6: pinkie’s present S7: you’re in my head like a catchy song S8: A kirin tale S9: the magic of friendship and a better way to be bad.

Thank you for giving True, True Friend a good rating. It’s one of my favorites but it seems to get shit on a lot. When the townspeople yell “PINKIE” it’s just so soooo moving.
I was going to get upset, then I remembered that this is your opinion and we are all allowed to make one. Good work on this and I hope you two are doing well!
Speaking as someone who's made Magic cards out of the vast majority of these songs, I knew _exactly_ what you were getting into with this one. Kudos on a most entertaining and insightful rundown, and for including the one from the comics.
Firebrand while I do agree that the "this is our big night" song isn't the best Equestria girls song but I see it in a different way. This is the first night the girls are spending together as friends since who knows how long I mean think about it in the movie their only re-became friends like that day so when they say "this is our big night" I like to think of it as them saying "true friendship always wins in the end and tonight is going to show it"
I thought so too, since most of the lyrics also reflect that! (though there were some instances in which it just felt strangely dismissive of the whole conflict, "we're so glad, so happy, we could never be mad", etc. And it just felt like a sorta anticlimactically quick turnaround)
There’s a whole other layer of ideas connecting to other ideas in Art of the Dress, in addition to what you mentioned! The lyrics say “Rainbow won’t look like a tank,” “for Fluttershy something breezy,” and, in regards to Pinkie’s “do you think it looks cheesy?” at various points in the song!!
Mostly due to a theory the songs give evidence to it’s kinda hilarious in mundane way that Josh doesn’t like any of the “generic” friendship is good songs. Ironic.
"The Tirek can't sing tango" Funny how you said that Firebrand, here's a little fact regarding "A Better Way to Be Bad", Mark Acheson (Tirek's voice actor) has said during the Voicing a Villain panel at Everfree Northwest 2019 that he couldn't sing yet they had him do it, while he can't sing but A for effort.
Wow. Probably not the last time they forced someone to sing who clearly can't. Ian Hanlin as Mayor Sunny Skies tried his best, but he's just not a singer.
Well, I'm glad Equestria Girls got some representation in the top 15. Although I like a lot of the pop songs. It's just nice to have a fun song with the characters just having fun, although it helps the Mane 8 are all great singers.
"The initials are F.U."

I'd say those are accurate ratings. After all, it just goes to show how many great songs there were in this amazing series.
I know "You'll play your part" is just a long way of saying "Sorry, but we dunno wtf to do for you.", but I like the Princess' choir singing.

Not having 'Luna's Future' in the top 15, shame. That song gives me chills every time.
Same
Ah, someone else who thinks Under Our Spell is the best song in the movie lol
7:57 also that's my favorite song from the MLP movie
20:05 yeah, what an earworm
20:47 I also think the Laughter song is pretty cringe and not a good display of her character.
"Mleh, pop song bad"
C'mon man, the Rainbow Rocks soundtrack is stellar.
Still waiting for the next taking to seriously episode
Me too

You were bored, We’re you.
Also, A Kirin’s tale should’ve gotten a 10!!!!!!!!!!
This Day Aria was the first song I ever heard when I started watching the show on UA-cam before I got the Hub/Discovery Family on cable television
4:02 I love the fact that you made a reference to Death Battle's Deadpool VS Pinkie Pie episode
I wholeheartedly agree with the No. 1. Perfect Pear is such a fantastic song, and with the context of the episode, it always makes me tear up. Without fail.
I think "The Magic Inside" also deserves a good shoutout for good songs
Dangit now I can't decide if I want to go back and listen to "The Perfect Pear" or "Under Our Spell"
under our spell 🌚🌚
THAT LAST SONG DESERVES A GOD DAMN 10! MILLIONS OF BRONIES CRIED THAT DAY
I'm talking about the magic of friendship grows
I APPRECIATE THIS VIDEO ON A WHOLE OTHER LEVEL!! mostly for the well deserved recognition of autumn blaze and the magnificence of rainbows won’t light up the sky unless you let it rain. A true masterpiece.
This is going to be the world's most interesting and exciting video of all time
“And i can count it on one hand”
*proceeds to hold a hoof up*
I play "Your in my head like a catchy song" on my uke all the time and none of my friends know it's from this show mwhahahah
They know I like my little pony, they just think it's dumb. Little do they know they now have a song from the show stuck in their heads 😆
Even when he blurred the top 2 out I could tell that they were ' smile ' and ' your in my head like a catchy song'😍😍😍😍
this makes me wanna listen to all the songs again
I’ll fight you on Let it Rain, it’s the closest thing to an 90’s alt rock track we ever got in MLP and Rebecca Soichet destroyed the delivery, my only downside is that I wish it had another verse and a proper bridge. Someone made a mashup of it, Get to the Other Side and Run to Break Free and it is absolutely phenomenal it gave me chills
Rap: Exists
Josh: TRIGGERED
I don't think Josh is old enough to have grown up with 'Fresh Prince' and a lot of those shows arou.d that time. For me Pinkie's Rap is just a little skip to memory lane.
Art of the dress was my favorite song throughout all of Season 1. It was absolutely amazing, and made me so unbelievably happy.
When he talks about could've skipped you'll play your part.
Sweetie Belle: HOW DARE YOU! 😠
It was such a good song
My Favorite mlp song from each season: (not counting shorts, specials, equestria girls, and movies)
S1: art of the dress
S2: smile song & this day aria
S3: what my cutie mark is telling me…
S4: glass of water and the goof off
S5: the magic inside
S6: pinkie’s present
S7: you’re in my head like a catchy song
S8: A kirin tale
S9: the magic of friendship and a better way to be bad.
“That percussion gives me HYPE!!!”
Dude, the OBSSESSION that I had with "This Day Aria" back when it realsed...You don't understand, HOW obssessed I was with it, to the point, that I watched ALL of the animations and covers of the son back in the day! Good times good times ^u^. And I also had this obssession with the "What My Cuity Mark is Telling me" and "A true true Friend" lol
I remember when you made your first MLP reviews on the other channel, and you said you did not like the music at all, that it was way too simplistic and childish, and even the fan favorites of _Winter Wrap-up_ and _At the Gala_ weren't very good either.
Now _Winter Wrap-up_ is in your top 10.
How times have changed.
your choice for the best song was spot on. im in the military right now, away from my fiancé. this entire episode is my favorite episode for many many reasons and i am looking forward to watching this episode with my fiancé when i finally get to see her again, and share my reasons for enjoying this episode with her. this song is amazing.

I have a bias for True True Friend, I wanted Fluttershy and Twilight duet to be longer!
I may or may not cry every time I listen to The Magic of Friendship Grows...
honestly, the thing that got me hooked was 'nightmare night' even though its not cannon.
@Rach yeah... but still. i guess if it has to be cannon then its 'at the gala'
Speaking as someone who's made Magic cards out of the vast majority of these songs, I knew _exactly_ what you were getting into with this one. Kudos on a most entertaining and insightful rundown, and for including the one from the comics.
I did not realize how many equestrian girls songs I missed....like after the third movie I stopped watching and I didn’t pay attention to the EQG show
Honestly the best part about the Equestria Girls movies that still holds up are the opening scenes. They were SO good for every movie.
The 10/10 on the left was easily seen as it was the Smile song, pinkies movement there cannot be mistaken lmfao XD
3:35 I honestly thought Aramou was singing this.
Also I was not expecting comic songs.
12:47 props for the IPA transcription, didn't expect that on a pony video
winter wrap up is so nostalgic for me. It reminds me of the day I decided I was really a brony
There’s a whole other layer of ideas connecting to other ideas in Art of the Dress, in addition to what you mentioned! The lyrics say “Rainbow won’t look like a tank,” “for Fluttershy something breezy,” and, in regards to Pinkie’s “do you think it looks cheesy?” at various points in the song!!
....
*x-files theme plays*
joshscorcher and keep in mind that it was a season ONE song!
Mostly due to a theory the songs give evidence to it’s kinda hilarious in mundane way that Josh doesn’t like any of the “generic” friendship is good songs. Ironic.
"Top 15 and *Bottom 5* "
Someone who actually is probably right: Umm sorry, that's not how top 5s work.
"Nightwish metal remix."
Yes, please. 😂😂😂
I miss this show so much.
I thought he was MIA
"The Tirek can't sing tango"
Funny how you said that Firebrand, here's a little fact regarding "A Better Way to Be Bad", Mark Acheson (Tirek's voice actor) has said during the Voicing a Villain panel at Everfree Northwest 2019 that he couldn't sing yet they had him do it, while he can't sing but A for effort.
Wow. Probably not the last time they forced someone to sing who clearly can't. Ian Hanlin as Mayor Sunny Skies tried his best, but he's just not a singer.
@@JCBro-yg8vd It's actually not as bad as you may think. I would consider watching the video to understand better.
Well, I'm glad Equestria Girls got some representation in the top 15. Although I like a lot of the pop songs. It's just nice to have a fun song with the characters just having fun, although it helps the Mane 8 are all great singers.
EG in a nutshell: Tell me you don’t like pop without telling me you don’t like pop
What was that about Josh quitting the fandom again?
cant believe you did "ive got to find a way" like that 😔😔
5:43 OH COME ON WHY YOULL PLAY YOUR PART TOO THAT SONG SLAPS
