Thanks for the idea! I built the bender half of this last summer (2024). Was a quick and easy build. It works well bending 1 1/2" .120. I used bungee cords to assist retracting and used 3/4" threaded rod for the bolts. I plan on adding leveler feet and a permanent level mounted to the side upright. Cost about $240 in materials and hardware inc. the cylinder. Need a taller ceiling in the garage.😄
I like the name of your tooling bender. When I worked at a copper mine, my two friends I worked with would take some bodies name and add to like you did to Bendy-Benderson son. Example: Last name: Jones =Jonezy-Jonezyston. We linkthond everything, everybody, and every place we talked about this way just for fun and to relieve our boredom. Like = AZ-Arizonaston. Cloudy-Cloudyston. You get the drift. This went on for years. It became our comic relief. Nice idea on your Rolly-Rollerston, Bendy-Benderson. Great job on it too. Happy New Year!

I'd be interested to see how the stand holds up now that your putting 8 tons of force through the stand. All hydraulic benders put the force through the frame of the bender which is very stout.
Not sure how much air that cylinder uses to operate but you could probably fit a small compressor underneath and then it would be an all in one mobile unit. Just a thought. Might not have enough air to make it worth while though. 🤷♂️

This is interesting. I just bought a Swag off Road tubing bender and the same roller. I never considered them on the same cart. Just curious, since it's been a few years, have you found any limitations with the bender regarding angles or compound angles you've been limited on with the roller being there?
Love it! Made a motorcycle frame and several other components with it. I would like to upgrade the roller as it can't handle .120" wall tube. There are kits to beef it up and add power so that you don;t have to manually crank it. These are some of my life goals :)
Did you manage to make the spring return for it yet? I would make 2 brackets that go straight and bend down at a 45 to clear the ram. They would mate up to the two bolts at the end of the ram and the JB32 cranking arm. From there anywhere at the base to retain the return spring... problem solved
If I am visualizing your idea correctly, it sounds great. I have yet to do anything about return springs. I am just manually pushing it down, which has been tolerable with my lower frequency of use. If I used it daily or weekly, I would want a spring, or maybe I would just build some serious muscles! 💪😀💪

I have a JD2 Model 32 that I'm building a T-shaped stand, but I may change it, after seeing your design. Let me ask you, the Harbor Freight tubing roller, do you think it would do well on 1.75" HREW (1/8" wall) tubing? According to folks on a FB Tubing roller group, they say I will still need to buy 1.75 dies from Swag Offroad. Your thoughts?

I'm using a Husky 30 gallon 155 psi, which I don't think they sell anymore. It works good for what I'm doing, but 30 gallons doesn't last long and the compressor is loud, but it does get the job done. Everyone always says get the biggest air compressor you can and I would agree.

@@williamgarcia9751 that is kinda funny, but no, it fills itself with air. You've got your tank that holds the air and then the compressor (which has pistons like an engine that force air into the tank), and the compressor is run by an electric motor attached to the compressor via a belt. All these components make up what is called the 'air compressor' . You do need to ensure the compressor has oil and change the oil out once in a while (kinda like a car engine. Kinda). Then you have a valve to allow air out of the tank and a regulator to dial in the pounds per square inch (psi) of air flowing out. Then most people add filters and water traps after that as well - which is important for certain applications - especially painting for otherwise you can add contaminants to the paint 😔.

@@williamgarcia9751 the 30 gal I have runs a LOT while I am bending, but not constantly and never runs out of pressure, so the compressor gets a break. I would recommend 30 gal or more. I am no expert, so take it with a grain of salt. If you go too small you'll run completely out of air pressure mid bend and have to wait for pressure to build back up - it's not conducive to productivity.
