Ours just arrived, your tutorial is brilliant. Thanks so much. We sold our EGO gear as it has become just too heavy for us to handle and the batteries are just too expensive.

My trimmer was just delivered today. The first thing I did was charged the battery. The first four minutes of this video answered the questions that I had. I did not even watch the rest of the video but went outside to try out my new toy. It works great.

What’s the kind of spool replacements that it uses? Would you recommend getting non branded spool replacements? Can you buy your own line to refill the spool?
    Thanks for your help !
Congrats for the video and the Channel, it’s very helpful.

It looks more capable than the 163e you previously once reviewed, for not alot extra for the baretool. I wonder if you can use thicker line with it if you keep the spools.
TY and hope you're doing well!

Thanks for the comment :-D I would say it's an upgrade from the wg163 but in reality it's only similarity is its a strimmer..... dual line for a start, slightly thicker cord, much greater mass at the head end really cries for more power, again I feel it could do with a eco / slower mode as the normal strimmer mode is quite aggressive, that said it now doubles up as a strimmer, edger and mini mower too! As the wheel comes off and sits central giving more versatility, that said it also makes it slightly less froogle on power, so 4ah required for serious use with a 2ah reserved for a quick strim on smaller gardens for sure.

    • @morgan8937
      @morgan8937 2 місяці тому +2

@mikesptworld Thanks to you I already have a 4ah from the hshot nitro, (still getting loads of use and going strong) as well as a spare 2ah if I run out of juice on a project. Only ever needed that 2ah if I forgot to fully charge the 4ah before use. Nice to have though just incase, or the 2ah for smaller stuff...or for between cut trimming! Lol ✂️
I went with the nitro trimmer today and it's good to see the pros you mentioned in your reply, TY.
I'm hoping I can use a thicker gauge line, for cutting through slightly heavier stems (although not a dealbreaker).
Defo looking forward to being able to edge and spot-mow areas that might be trickier for a mower. Brushless motor 👍
I think it's currently about £200 for the body, charger and battery combo. Possibly more if purchased as individual items.
And many other brands prices creep up even higher after you make the necessary battery/ charger system purchase, with seemingly less runtime, and sometimes a less juicy battery than the 4ah.
So £99, I can't complain. Actually looking forward to picking it up tomorrow.
Cheers for the very insightful video.🙏and reply.

Ok, this thing makes it too easy, in a good way! I feel like David Copperfield, strimming one handed. The wheel is great. Do I need it? No, but I will use the forward facing, sideway facing, and edging configs. It does help keep off the ground, and from scalping lawn.
Most surprised about how light it is and how compact for storage. It's so light that I ended up mowing the whole lawn with it to save dragging the mower out 😅
You weren't kidding when you said it'll take on anything, yet not damage things.
I was planning to keep the shield off for nimble maneuverability and easier cleaning... but that would take away the wheel connector (I think).
Ergonomics. The multi angle combo's possible between the secondary handle and the deck means that no matter your height, and arm length, the ergonomics are tailor made for everyone.
If I had only 2 gripes, they'd be that I wish the secondary handle could be slid down the main shaft, and that the shaft would be longer (that's what she said), because the weight at the top end can get a bit much on the right arm, especially when doing side to side action with the wheel. I notice this more because my right arm is healing from injury. Forward wheel action a breeze.
The other thing is, because of the above issue, the secondary handle could do with being more girthy and padded since the user is supporting the weight and side to side swings. They need to develop four way suspension around the handle basically. 😂
Seriously though. I'm magnifying issues, this thing is brilliantly designed and requires laughably minimal effort to use.
I'd recommend to any senior citizen too.
Haven't tested the edger feature yet, which I think is the most exciting feature.
Thanks for leading me to this product choice.

You can use 2mm cord no problem...if you can find it from a Makita cord that's not round, it's like that lucky grass with four 🍀 leaves..it is really strong cord

all you need to do is to unclip tyhe orange shield from the base of the head, it should be fairly easy to locate as the buttons / recess presses are on the side of the reel near the exit holes, remove that and either manually unwind or push the small black nub on the side of the rrel to allow the reel to move forward a little bit and dispense a little more line for you to thread through the hole, failing that remove the line, unravel a small length and thread it back through the holes, make sure you put the orange case cover back on too. hope this helps, Mike

Have you any idea where in UK to obtain the replacement spools (part # WA007)?
I haven't been able to find them anywhere, even on the Worx website.

@@mikesptworld I'm grateful for the link you've provided, thanks.
I'm just a bit wary of using an unbranded product. Might it affect the warranty?
May I ask if you've had to replace the spool yet?
Sorry so many questions! It's just that I ordered this grass trimmer yesterday at what appeared to be a bargain price. I believe that the machine does come with 2 spools supplied, but I have no idea how far they'll take me?
Just to be on the safe side I thought I'd stock up with some extras in advance, but it's proving harder than I thought!

I can't honestly say for these exact ones, though I bought some (6) for the wg163 that were aftermarket specials - 4 years later Iater I have given my wg163e to my father in law and still have 2 reels left! In honesty I only managed to use 1 reel a year! Though the wg173 is a bit more of an animal, I am still on my first reel :-) these are the ones I have earmarked for purchase, they don't affect warranty as long as they are classed as a consumable item much like petrol in a car, you can also keep the old reels and re wind your own reels with 1.65mm cluparis trimmer line, though the pre wound ones tend not to self bind and lock on the reel as much.

I have one question...is it more powerful then wg 163...i am looking too upgrade.. or how much more is powerful....you haven't cut bigger grass in video,i couldn't assess the power

    • @mikesptworld
      @mikesptworld  16 днів тому +1

Define 'power' it has a more powerful brushless motor and chucks a bigger diameter twin string cassette compared to the wg163 with it's single string casette, it will run for approximately 30minutes on a full 4ah battery. I use it to do approximately 400m of the perimeter of my property, and it does it just fine. It's very capable and an ideal upgrade to the wg163, it is just that though an upgrade, rather than a brushless version of the wg163
